Chapter 8:
"[Chorus]
I started from the bottom and now I'm rich
I got in my bag and I ain't looked back since
I started to say sorry, but fuck that shit
You started out hatin', now you love my drip"
-Iggy Azalea "Started"
"This is my shit," I turn up my music in my car going home and started singing. Long ass day I could say, especially dealing with my new client, Mr Cena. I never get involved with my clients, that is one of my main rules and he is my first male client. I must keep this professional if I want to be partner in 5 years. I've been in this game for 3 years now being the youngest black lawyer at my firm. Graduated with honors from Harvard law top of my class. Even though my childhood was decent I didn't come from much. Lower middle-class family trying to make themselves better…
**RING** RING**
I hit the button on my car to connect my phone to blue tooth and answered the call
"Hello?" I answered
"What? You answered… that's a first"
"Girl shut up I don't need your attuited right now" I laughed at my girl Rose. She's been my best friend since high school. I continued to speak "Now what you want?"
"love and affection" she said as we both laughed through the phone. "No, but are you coming out to the trip with us to Miami next year? You know Mia likes to get stuff done ahead of time with her OCD ass."
"You know you wrong. Also, Mia always been like that what do you except after that one time you were the one in charge with the trip plans and the you didn't confirm the hotel reservations for the trip Paris for fashion week." I said
"Listen, I told ya'll I could have sworn that I had the confirmation email and ya'll know my ass isn't good with planning shit." She said carelessly and continued "You two set me up to fail." I started shaking my head
"Anyways back to your question. That would be a yes. Anything that else?" I asked getting annoyed because I am too tired to talk to anyone right now. Also, I was getting closer to my house and I really didn't want to be disturbed when I got there.
"Oh yeah, I'm moving but I don't know where ill be moving too so I need your help. You know good neighborhoods and everything." She replied
"Girl, you know I will."
"Alright, I know your ass is tired from work so ill be there sometime this or next week." Mia said. "Ok, boo. I love you"
"Love you too boo!" Mia replied and hung up. I smiled as I was 5 minutes away from my drive way. I love my two best friends. They have been there for me at my lowest and my highest. Never been jealous of each other, got each other back when they down and celebrate when one is up. It was sisterhood.
3rd POV
As Avery was pulling up in her drive-way she notices that Dean wasn't at home. His car is usually in the drive way around this time and the lights are off she noticed. "Wait, why am I worried about him?" she said out loud and walked up to the front door going into the house. She closed the door and locked the door behind her. Taking off her black heels at the door thinking how good the sex really was last night. She shook her head at the thought of him the next moment. But couldn't shake off the thought of him, plus it had been a minute since she had sex. The last time she had sex was 2 years ago from her ex-fiancé.
She walked upstairs to her room getting ready to take a bath. After she had gotten done she twist her hair and but on her bonnet. When she was finished putting her pajamas on she went back down stairs and went to her kitchen to get her a glass of wine to help her thoughts. With every case she always had a glass of red wine next to her while she was on her computer and going though files for the case she was handling. She took a sit on her black couch with the glass of wine in her hands and sitting next to her computers. She went into her new case with her client Mr. Cena.
A new challenge she thought. Taking on the man side on the divorce. Usually her clients are females wanting divorces from their husbands. Six cases she had six cases she won, and she wasn't stopping now. Avery picked np her case which was by side the couch. And put it on the table near on the other side of the laptop.
As she was opening the files and looking through his papers. She saw a paper that stated Mr. Cena business. She became piss when he didn't mention he had a large-scale business. "Damn it, he could at least tell me this, his wife lawyer could go after half his profits" She smacked her lips knowing this was going to be easy, but Mr. Cena is already not letting her know all the information she needs to know to fully be successful in this case. Communication with a Lawyer and their client is vital to when it comes to winning the case or have the settlement be successful in your client's behavior. She was about to call Mr. Cena but saw on her phone it was 2:34 am. She put her work phone down and noticed that she will call tomorrow morning.
Avery continued to look at the case files and paper, then she saw lights in Dean park way. In her location she had an almost straight view from outside but where no-one can see her. It was a medium widow in her living room. She got up and saw it was a car pulling up Dean drive way she looked to get a closer view and saw it was Dean.
But it was strange though it looked like his car was almost wrecked on the side. Dean had gotten out of his car and he looked restless and he looked messy but messier is as in he had just had an altercation with someone. One thing Avery could tell something had happen being he was limping. Avery thought he had a rough night but didn't think any life-threating just another bawl at a bar. "Maybe that's why he wasn't home" she said to herself. She went back to her couch and got back to her work.
48 minutes later…
*Knock*Knock*
She turned around and was wondering why the hell was at her door this late? She went on her phone and look her high security camera outside her door. Looking through the camera and she was shocked and paused for a minute. She was deciding whether to open the door or not. Avery grab her robe and fasten it getting ready to open the door. As soon she opens the door, the one man she couldn't stand smirk looking at her with lustful blue eyes.
"Hey, toots. May I come in" She didn't say nothing as he waked in the house without even her constant. She closed the door as he stepped into the house and had a small smiled on her faced, but she contained it as she turned her face to him.
"How may I help you Mr. Ambrose" she folded her arms while he was looking around the house like he was looking for someone or something. "Just wanted to see if you wanted any companion tonight." He turned to her and looked her and a smiled cracked on his face. She was confused at is expressions and asked
"Why are you smiling for?" Avery asked him. "Nothing," he said as he walked up to her, but she stopped him by her hand from coming any closer "Look, Dean. What we did last night was a one-time thing."
"If it was a one-time thing why you invite me in." he replied as he looks at her in a different way, and more protective way. "You know his right" she said to herself. That's when she thought shit what the hell do she got to lose? She smirked and walked and paused right beside him and gave him a lustful look. Then she continued to walk up the stairs to her bedroom and he followed her direction…
