Chapter 89:
Plan in Progress
...
...
"Are you gentlemen enjoying yourself?"
The question broke Luigi from his shock. He turned and came face to face with the Kumo, Scorpio, standing behind him. His body froze out of fear that his identity was uncovered. But from the look on Scorpio's face he didn't seem to realize him just yet.
"I…uh…" He was struggling to come up with a response without himself away. Fortunately for the green plumber, he had someone to help him out. Rocco step in quickly to cover for him.
"We're fine, although the show's a bit of a snore," Rocco spoke up as he casually steps in between of the Itailan man and the Kumo spider.
Luigi was grateful for the blond's help. He placed his lower mask back on and pulled his cap down lower to cover over his face. He glanced over at the other two. Both Sergeant Guy and Paraplonk were trying to act casual with Guy drinking his beer and Paraplonk tapping his foot but that didn't stop them from looking suspicious.
'Great,' Mr. L spoke. 'If you don't blow your cover, these two will,'
"…I'm sure the show will pick up soon," Scorpio stated. "After all, the main event has yet to appear."
"I hope so," Rocco said, crossing his arms. "Like you said, it will be a waste if we came all this way for nothing, and we aren't leaving here without something," He threw a glance at the others, hopping they play along with him. "Am I right, fellas?"
"Right," Luigi agreed, keeping his voice low so Scorpio wouldn't pick up his accent.
"You bet!" Sergeant Guy exclaimed too cheerfully for someone who's supposed to be Mobster, or at least act like a one.
Both Rocco and Luigi cringed while Scorpio raised a suspicious eyebrow. Guy sweat dropped nervously. Realizing his mistake, he cleared his voice and reply again, deepening his voice as he did so.
"I mean… right,"
Scorpio still looked doubtful of him which wasn't good for them. Thinking quickly, Luigi cleared his throat in a way that was meant to grab someone's attention. It worked as the Kumo turned his glance back at him.
"You know," He spoke, keeping his voice deep and low so his accent wouldn't show. "I'll enjoy myself more if something was done with those two over there,"
He pointed towards the Toad couple from before. The two were standing across the room, far away from where they were.
"I heard the woman complaining earlier," He said in a nonchalant way. "…and judging from her crabby tone, she didn't seem to be the quiet type,"
"I see," Scorpio said with some interest in his voice. He turned back to the disguised plumber with a smile. "You let me worry about such a thing; I'm sure to have that handle,"
Luigi kept his glance on his beer. "If you say so,"
"Well then gentlemen, I should take my leave…enjoy the rest of the show,"
Rocco shrugged as the Kumo headed towards the direction of the Toad couple. Once he was out of sight, the blond man grabs his companions and started moving them to a different area in the room.
"If you plan to do something, I suggest you do it soon." He hissed to them. "We'll be banging our rights if we keep wagging this off,"
Luigi wasn't sure what he meant but he knew they couldn't keep this up forever. He looks around the room as he tries to formula a plan. They were currently in the basement of an old worn-down building. There was only one exit in and out of the basement with two Boom Booms guarding it. From what Rocco told him, the Children as well as the other captives were all being held on this follow, but he has yet to see them.
"Hey, look over there," Sergeant Guy points out.
Luigi turned his glaze to what Guy was referring to. What he saw were two Dryite Toads were pushing out a cage full of Volbonans through a seperate door.
"That's were they're keeping all the captives," Rocco confirmed.
Luigi nodded. Good, now they know where to look. He did a head count of their enemies and came up with a total of 9 of them, including Scorpio. He suspected a few more hiding in the smaller room where the captives were being held.
He glanced towards back at the stage. Other than the torches around the room, the only thing providing light was the single stage light placed on a crate. Without it, the room would be completely dark.
"Ugh, when is the main event going to start? I hate to stay even a minute longer at this dreadful place."
The green man's attention was drawn to two Bumpties walking passing by him, engage in their own conversation. Both Bumpties were wearing fancy grey and black suits, top hats, black cloaks, and black masks.
"I heard it will begin soon, but franky I agree with you." Said the Bumpty in the black suit. "The food here is terrible, the drinks are awful, and what's worse this place looks just able ready to collapse in us. Heaven forbid if an earthquake were to happen."
The other Bumpty in the grey suit scoffed. "If it did, I would be the first one out the door. The last thing I wanted is to have my game ended underneath a pile of rumble. I could have been back at my hotel room enjoying myself… but no, I decided to come here."
"You and me both; hopefully the main event is as good as he claimed it'll be."
The two Bumpties continue walking while the plumber considers their conversation. He gave himself a quick pat down, remembering what kind of power-ups he had on him.
A Pow Block, an Ice Flower, a Super Acorn, a double cherry, and a super star…
"So, Hero…" Rocco spoke. "Any ideas?"
Luigi turned his glaze to him and smile. "Actually Rocky, I got one…"
…
…
It was finally time…The main event.
This was good; his guests were getting aggravated and showing less interest in the slaves he had to offer. Those Pi'illo didn't make nearly as much as he would like. Hopefully, the sight of tonight's grand prize will replenish everyone's interest back into a buying mood.
Speaking of grand prize, he was currently in the smaller room they were storing the slaves. He had the Masrestler children separated into two smaller cages, one for the females and the other for the males. Out of eight children, the females outnumbered the males. Males tend to bring in more profit since they were stronger, but if the rumors were true, the females should be just as capable.
He leaned in close to the cage, causing some of the younger ones to cower in fear and the older one to glare at him in anger. He smirked at their expression in amusement. Even at a young age, Masrestlers tend to be strong. Fortunately for him, he had drugs to sedate them enough from using their full strength.
"You young ones, are going to make me very, very rich,"
"Coward!" yelled the male in the black and white mask. "Let me loose and I would fight you myself,"
"As delightful as that may sounds, I rather not," He replied. "Can't be selling damaged goods…it'll lessen the value,"
"Is that what we are to you?" said the female in pink who was currently holding onto the younger one in yellow. "Properties for you to sell,"
"As a matter of fact, yes, you are," Scoprio grinned. "And in my line of work, your kind sells for a large amount,"
"You won't get away with this," claimed the black and white one. "Our people are fighters…warriors too strong willed to submit to the likes of slavery; we will never give in to the likes of you,"
Ok, that one was starting to get annoying. Scoprio walked towards the cage the male was placed in. The black and white masked male kept a steady glare at him which he completely ignored until he stood in front of the cage. Quickly, Scoprio grabbed him by the throat and slammed his head against the metal bars.
"Ranbir!" the pink female yelled out in alarm.
The male, Ranbir, struggled against Scoprio but still manages to maintain his glare. Scoprio was not amused.
"Listen kid," He spoke. "I could care less about your warrior code or whatever and either will the people behind those doors. To them, you and your friends are just mindless savages and I'm the merchant selling them. So, while you're up on stage, don't causes any trouble, or I'll make sure you'll regret it,"
Ranbir remained silent but his glare turned even harder. Still it didn't faze Scoprio in the slightest. With the drugs slowly working through the kid's system, he will be easier to handle if the situation calls for it.
"I'm not treating them again if you hurt them,"
Scorpio turned his gaze to whoever spoke. Standing a few feet away from him was a small, anthropomorphic animal character, strongly resembling a squirrel. Her fur and short hair was a grayish brown, her snout was a slight pink color, and she had a long bushy tail behind her.
She wore a white lab coat, the only indication that she's a medical specialist, on top of dark colored polo shirt with a dark blue skirt that goes just above her knees. She currently is looking over one of the other slaves, her focus deep in her work.
"Isn't that why you're here?"
"I am here to treat the old injuries, not the new one," She replied, keeping her gaze on her work. "If I have to retreat a patient for new injuries that appeared after my initial treatment, then I will have to charge you extra for that,"
Scorpio frowned. "And if I refuse?"
She shrugged. "Then I won't fight you over it. I'll get the work done and forward the complaint to my Boss," She turned her head to him, her big hazel eyes half lidded with disinterest. "But I should let you now, I'm the best assistant that he got and very rarely am I the cause of any problems. If he finds that you're the one at fault, additional fees will be charge and trust me, you won't like it."
"Fine," Scorpio sighed heavily, releasing the young Masrestler. "It's not like I'll be keeping them for much longer; in a day or two, they'll be someone else's problem."
He stepped away from the cages and provided orders to the Dryites. "Bring them to the stage and make sure they're completely covered. They're meant to be a surprise after all,"
The Dryites nodded. Using large brown sheets, they completely covered the two cages and wheeled them through the other room. Scorpio followed behind them and made his way to the webbed corner in the ceiling he had made earlier. It was an ideal spot for him to oversee everything from above without himself being seen.
He watched as the Dryites brought forth the cages onto the stage. He smirked as the audience almost immediately became attracted to whatever was hidden under the sheets. As soon as both cages were placed on stage, the Dryites left. Doogma glance up to the corner where Scorpio was. The Kumo nodded, not caring if the Doogan can see him or not. Doogma's glance hovered for a few more seconds before he sighed and started his announcement.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the time has finally come…" He started. "For our last offering for tonight, we bring you what may be a once in a life time opportunity. A rare species born deep within the Pyrapt Desert; these creatures are well-known for their strength and skills."
He pauses for a moment as the audience mumbled among themselves.
"Ladies and gentlemen...tonight, I bring you – Masrestlers!"
Doogma pull the sheets down, revealing the children in their cages. The audience gasped in surprise upon seeing them their criticisms. Talk of criticism quickly filling the room
"Why, would you look at that?"
"Those things are Masrestlers?"
"I thought they were nothing more than a fairy tale."
"They look more beastly than I could imagine,"
Chloe let out a scared whine at the audience's harsh words. Brianna tightened her hold on her as a form of comfort and protection from the hateful gaze. She glared down at the audience but she knew it was basically useless.
"As you could see," Doogma continues "we are currently in procession of more females than males. Males are sold at a higher price but don't let gender play a factor in your purchase."
He glanced over the cage Brianna was in. Multiple glares were thrown at him but he ignored them as he tries to decide which one to start first.
"We'll start with the little one in yellow," He said. "The younger they are, the easier to they are to learn discipline,"
The others around her growled and one in pink tighten her hold on her. Again he ignored it.
"The Auction begins now, with the starting price of -"
Doogma was suddenly cut off when the lights went off without warning. A couple of screams were heard and Scorpio was quick to get to his feet. He climbed down his spot from the corner and started interrogating one of the Goombos.
"What happened?" he hissed
"Uh, I don't know," The Goombo replied "it looks like we had a power outage,"
"Well then, fix it you idiot!"
"Y-yes sir,"

Scorpio's good mood was quickly turning sour. His guests were falling into a panic and his henchmen were running around while headless chickens trying to figure out how to get the power back on. He glanced up at the stage to see Doogma trying to settle everyone down.
"Everyone please, came down," Doogma said. "It's just a power outing. I'm sure we'll get everything running in no time."
He glanced at Scorpio, who was standing next to one of the few torches placed around the room. They managed to catch each other's eyes before returning their focus at the task at hand. The torches and battery powered lights placed around the room provide very little light and comfort to the otherwise pitch black room. They both knew if they didn't get the lights on soon then, then they'll lose their appeal to their audience.
"Boss, I think we found the problem," said a Dryite, approaching him.
"Good, now fix it,"
"I, uhm... we can't exactly do that,"
Scorpio narrowed his eyes. "And why not?"
"I..." The Dryrite hesitated. "The Power box...I don't know how but… it looks like something smashed the power box,"
"What?!"
"BOSS!"
Scorpio lifted his gaze up to see two Boom Booms approach with flashlight in hand. He turned around fully when they finally reach him. "What now?"
"Those three Prisoners..." One of them gasped. "They're gone,"
"They're what?!" Scorpio yelled.
A sharp scream of a woman filled the room. Scorpio turned to the source of the scream. When he got a glance at the stage, his eyes widen with surprise.
"The beasts..." The woman shrieked. "They have escaped,"
True to her words, the male cage was opened, allowing the three inside to be set freed. Despite the poor lighting, he was able to make out someone working on the female cage.
"Boss! Someone let the slaves out,"
"WHAT?!"
He swirled toward the direction of the room they were storing all the slaves. As the henchmen said, the other slaves were out of their cages and roaming free. Anger began to fill his veins. He turned back to the stage and witnessed the mysterious figure opening the females' cage, completely freeing all of the Masrestler Children.
"What in the Underwhere is going on?" He howled.
But before he could give any order to his men, the ground underneath him started to tremble. Scoprio as well as everyone else in the room tried to maintain their balance. Someone was quick to shout out the reason for why the entire building was shaking.
"EARTHQUAKE!"
