CHAPTER 58 ~ New Orleans
I DO NOT OWN THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
The doorbell to the Bennett household sounded around the house. Maddie, who had practically been pacing in front of the door quickly went to open it. She needed to talk to him before her mom did. However, the minute she opened the door and saw Elijah standing there in his suite, his hair freshly cut all thoughts about her mom meeting her boyfriend vanished from her brain. Instead she now thought about how much she wanted him and how she would love for the two of them to join the mile-high club on the ride to New Orleans.
"Hi," she breathed out. She was still taking him in.
Elijah took a step forward grinning down at her, "Hi." A moment of silence passed as the two locked eyes. "I can hear your heart racing."
"Well you are about to meet my mom."
"It's not just that though." Elijah stated. "It's something else." His smile stayed intact, moving closer to Maddie he leaned down and whispered in her ear, "I can smell you Maddison."
"Well I'm thinking about something."
His lips were still by her ear, "And what's that?"
"About how much I would love for us to join the mile-high club."
Elijah's eyes began to glisten, "I can most definitely make that happen for you," he said before pulling away. "Now correct me if I'm wrong you did lie and tell her that your sister would be joining us down there for the weekend?"
Maddie glared, "Something like that. She wasn't about to let me go all the way down to Louisiana with someone that she didn't know."
"Smart mom. Although I would never intentionally hurt you."
From the look in his eye she could tell that he meant it, "I know." Hearing footsteps she stepped away from him. "Don't act weird."
Elijah chuckled quietly as he took a step into the Bennett household, "I mean it. Act casual. My mom can sense weird and I have a feeling she is going to end up saying no I can't go."
"Well," he said in a low tone, "I can always compel her to love me of course it wouldn't be as much as you dos."
Maddie's hear melted slightly, "Cute but you know she takes vervain."
"I've been around a long time," his smirked turned into a grin, "I am a very patient man."
She scoffed, "I can't even deal with you. And remember you went to school for business."
"Right and I am quite successful at it. I graduated early which is part of the reason I make as much money as I do."
Good, she thought to herself. He had remembered the story that she put together. Not that she thought he would really forget. He was an original after all.
"Oh wow," Janette said making her appearance. "He is tall." Realizing she had said it aloud she turned towards Elijah. "Nice to meet you."
Elijah walked up to her and shook her hand, "Like wise. Well I see where your daughter gets her looks from."
"Isn't she precious," Janette cooed. "Ugh it seems like just yesterday she was a baby."
"MOM!" Maddie said.
Janette shrugged, "Maddison, don't be such a kill joy."
"Yeah Maddison," Elijah turned around to glance at her, "let your mother have her fun."
"That wasn't terrible."
Maddie shook her head. After spending time with her mom, to much in her opinion, they had finally left and headed to the airport. Elijah, being himself, had a private plane waiting for them and ready to go the minute they arrived. He told her to go have a seat while he spoke to the pilot. It wasn't to long before he went to join her.
"It was fine."
She nodded, "I think that my mom likes you."
"I think so to."
A smile came to her face as she leaned against him slightly. It wasn't long before the pilot began speaking and told them to buckle off since they were preparing for take off.
"How long is this flight going to be?" Maddie asked when the plane began taking off down the runway.
"Over two hours," Elijah said. She noticed then how he had taken off his jacket. Now he was just in a dress shirt. "Which gives us plenty of time."
One of her eyebrows raised, "Plenty of time for what exactly?"
He said noting. Instead his hand moved to play with the bottom of her dress. Immediately understanding a smile spread across her face. Sex with Elijah was always great but she had a feeling that today it would be even better. Her heart skipped a beat as pulled up her dress so that her panties were now exposed to him. She slightly parted her legs.
Turning to face her more he began to plant light kisses all over the side of her face and her neck. At the same time his hands began to massage her thighs. In that moment she wished that she could compel him to raise his hand higher. She needed to feel him. She slightly jumped when his fingers began to touch her covered area.
"Already wet for me," he whispered in her ear. She nodded as she was unable to find the words to speak. "Well, let's see how much.
"Oh Jesus," she moaned out as he plunged two fingers into her wet core.
"Not Jesus, just me."
Her mouth opened as Elijah finger fucked her on the plane. Turning her head to the sky her mouth opened some more seeing as they were now up in the clouds. She began to arch her back more as the sensation took over some more. His fingers worked on her at a perfect pace. He wasn't going to slow or too fast. He was going just right bringing her to a perfect high. Of course, all too soon it had come to an end, as Elijah removed his fingers from her. She watched as he sucked her juices off his fingers. She licked her bottom lip seeing his tongue touch his fingers. It was most definitely a sight.
"Tell me something," he said with his lips still by her ear. "Would you like to be on top for this?"
With excitement coursing through her veins all she could do was nod. Elijah helped her to her feet so that she could come to a stand in front of him. He quickly helped her out of her dress before he tossed it. A grin came over her face as she watched it roam across the room.
"Before we start," Elijah said his hands near her underwear, "I need a taste."
"It's all yours."
"Yes," his hands circled around her waist as he pulled her to him, "it is." Before she could talk he had moved her panties to the side and his tongue was now working its away along her pussy.
Her hands came to his shoulders and her head went back. Oh, how she had missed that tongue. He made sure to pay extra attention to her clit, giving it a nice stroke with his tongue. At the same time, he brought a finger back inside of her. It didn't take her long to come. He made sure to lick up all of her juices before moving his face from between her legs. He started to move his fingers to his mouth when she grabbed his hand taking his soaked finger she wrapped her mouth around it. Sucking on the finger she took the whole thing into his mouth while keeping eye contact with Elijah. She made sure to let it go with a popping sound.
"It tastes kind of sweet."
"Dirty girl."
"Just for you," she allowed her hands to move towards the bulge in his jeans. "I want a taste too."
"Later."
She frowned, "Why not now?"
"Now is about you, not me."
She didn't stop until his cock was out, erect and ready. Grabbing her he pulled her to him and helped her get onto his lap. His quickly removed her bra and his mouth began to suck on her nipples, giving each one the attention that they deserved, before he swifly moved her once more and inserted his rock hard cock into her wet soaking pussy. They both let out a moan of content together. Maddie's moan was almost a screen while Elijah's moan was muffled since his mouth was still around her nipple, sucking.
It was slow and sweet at first. Like they were making love to one another just instead of their usual way she was now sitting on top of him. She allowed herself do the work, liking being in charge. Each time met his thrust it was like she went to heaven and then came back down. Within a few moments she gripped his shoulders hard, rocking herself onto his cock beginning to go faster and faster. Elijah helped her, taking his mouth from her nipple and securely holding her hips he met her thrust, fast and hard. It wasn't long before they came together.
With her heart beating she made no move to get off of him. Instead she let her head rest in the crook of his neck.
"I love you," she murmured.
Elijah moved her hair, which was sweaty and sticking to her face to the side. With a smile on his face he kissed her cheek before whispering, "I love you too."
"So, did you like it?"
Maddie nodded. She and Elijah were walking around New Orleans hand in hand. The two had just finished looking at Loyola and then had lunch. Now he was showing her different sites.
"Like what?" She had a feeling she knew what he was talking about but she wanted to be sure before she answered his question.
Elijah squeezed her hand, "Loyola." She knew it.
"I did."
"And?"
"And I have a lot to think about."
His hand stopped applying the same pressure that it had before. He stopped them and turned her so that they were now facing each other instead of side by side.
"And what is there to think about exactly?"
"Elijah," she breathed out, "I loved Loyola. I really did. It's a great school. Campus was beautiful, nice people and great dorms but before I commit to going there or anywhere else I really need to sit down and think."
Elijah stared at her before he gave a small head nod, "Of course. I don't mean to be pushy."
She smirked, lightly tapping his shoulder, "But I like it when you're pushy."
He smirked back at her. She was prepared to get up on her tippy toes and kiss him when her head slightly looked past her shoulder and around the corner. She wasn't sure what had compelled her to look over there into the shop but when she did she felt, well, odd. A man was standing there in the window of the shop, no, two men. One was fair skinned with light colored eyes. Instead of blinking and looking away he continued to stare at her. Beside him was a dark skinned man but instead of staring at her he was staring at Elijah's back.
Elijah, noticing her slightly tensed pulled away. The movement caused her to blink and when she opened her eyes back up the two men were gone.
"Something wrong?"
She licked her bottom lip before she slightly backed up, "I don't know. There were two men and I thought that they were staring at me but I could be wrong."
Elijah whirled around, "Where?"
She pointed to the shop, "In that shop. It was weird. I mean I made awkward eye contact with one and he didn't look away until I blinked. The other one was staring at you."
"Hm."
"Hm?" She raised an eyebrow, "Is there a reason that people are staring at you?" She felt dumb after asking the question. "Of course there is. So, tell me, is it because they know that you're an original."
"Something like that."
"Care to share?"
"Maybe later."
She rolled her eyes, "For now I prefer to show you more of what the city has to offer."
She couldn't deny how much she liked the sound of that.
"Of all places to go you take me to a bar, nice." Maddie laughed walking through the bar door as Elijah held the door open for her.
"I've never been here myself."
"Really?"
"Is that so hard to believe?"
"In a way, yes." She told him honestly, "I mean you are so old," her eyes shined with humor, "I was expecting that you would have been to every single place in this town especially."
"Forgive me."
"Hm, I'll consider it."
Elijah walked her over to a table. He pulled out her chair for her before he took the seat across from her. "Anything particular you want?"
She raised an eyebrow at him. "Oh, you mean you're going to allow me to drink?"
He leaned back in his chair, relaxing. "Correct me if I'm wrong but haven't you constantly told me that I am your boyfriend and not your father."
She felt her cheeks getting hot, "I have."
"Therefore, as your boyfriend I am asking you if you would like to have a drink tonight?"
She leaned her body forward, "That sounds wonderful."
"What would you like?"
"Hm," she thought about it for a moment. "Surprise me."
"I can do that."
She watched as he got up and walked to the bar. When he got there and began to speaking to a blonde woman she looked away. This bar wasn't huge but it wasn't small either. It about a tad bigger than medium although she was sure the way it was set up really gave it the roomy feel that it had. There still weren't a lot of people inside. Most stragglers. She then noticed a woman off to the side. It looked as if she was standing by groceries of sorts. She wasn't paying attention to the lettuce that was in front of her though, instead she was looking around. Observing her surroundings. When she caught Maddie looking at her the expression she wore remained unchanged. It was neutral. Neutral like she didn't care about anything. Maddie gave her a small smile before looking away. When she looked back in front of her Elijah was back, sitting in his chair he slid a drink over to her.
"What's this?"
"Try it."
She observed the drink. It was in a fancy glass; the liquid was red and there was an orange slice and a big red cherry at the top.
"What's called?"
"It's called Hurricane. It's a cocktail. Try it."
Seeing the look on his face she bent her head slightly and took the drink in her hand, raising it to her lips. She took a tiny sip. "It's most definitely interesting."
He had a sly smile on his face, "You don't like it?"
"Not that it's just," she took another sip, "It has a fruity sort of taste that I like but it's also kind of strong in its own way. I just have to get used to the taste. But it's not bad. What are you drinking?"
"Whiskey."
Her face dropped before she laughed, "You are so basic."
"What is it that this generation says," he pretended to think about it, "basic bitches for the win? Something like that."
Her mouth formed into an O before she laughed some more. She tried to control herself but that only made her laugh harder, "I really can not believe you just said that."
"Am I wrong?"
She shook her head while continuing to laugh, "No, it's just funny. Ugh. I think my sister is starting to rub off on you. That's something she would say."
"Well, Cordelia is certainly," it took him a few seconds to come up with a word for her, "fascinating."
"Yeah, that's one way to describe her."
She was prepared to take another sip when something caught her eye. She looked to see two men that were at the bar getting up out of their seats. Squinting her eyes, she realized that it was the two men from earlier. Her heart began to race slightly. Had they followed them? Surely Elijah would have noticed if they were being followed, although he hadn't seen their faces considering they disappeared before he could get a look at them.
Elijah hearing her heart racing asked, "What's wrong."
She put her head down slightly before whispering, "Those are the guys. The ones that I saw before." They had since gotten up. She realized that the woman in the back was gone as well. She doubted that it was a coincidence.
"Wait here," he said before getting up and proceeding to walk towards the back door.
She watched him go. Waiting about five seconds before she was up and following him, "No."
He turned slightly, "Stay."
She opened her mouth to protest but he had disappeared. Still not caring what he had to say she moved, taking the back door exit that she spotted. It led outside. She left the door creaked as she walked out. After seeing that she noticed the woman. She was standing by a table that had candles. Her shoulders were hunched and her head was down.
Maddie walked down the steps until she was behind her, "Are you alright?"
The woman jumped turning around, "I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"
She was prepared to answer when they both heard a slamming sound. Both girls began to look around. No one could be spotted. Maddie had a bad feeling. There was a slight noise and movement. Like someone trying to move fast against the wind only there was no wind. Turning her head from left to right Maddie looked around.
"We should get out of here," she murmured lowly.
"I don't think so." Her heart stopped for a moment as she jumped out of her skin at the new voice. One of the men she had seen before, the fair skinned man was standing by the staircase that they had used to come down.
Aggravation was all over the woman's face as she spoke to the man, "The doors work you know."
The man that behind them spoke again, "You're doing magic." Maddie recognized him as the other man she had seen earlier.
Defensively she spoke, "I'm praying to my dead sister. Go ahead pay your respects."
Before anyone said anything the man that had been closer to the staircase was in front of the woman. She jumped slightly, "Don't make this a thing Sophie. The hybrid was looking for Jane-Anne. Marcel wants to know why.
The hybrid, Maddie thought to herself. She had a feeling she already knew which hybrid they were speaking of. She just hoped that she wasn't right.
Sophie spoke again, "Oh that sounds like witch business. I'd say ask her yourself but I guess you can't seeing as Marcel killed her." Her tone was spiteful and Maddie didn't blame her. However, she had no idea where Elijah was so she knew that she herself wouldn't go mouthing off.
"And your friend here."
"We just met," Sophie bit out. "She knows nothing."
"I wouldn't be so sure about that," called the man behind him. Sophie turned to look at him Maddie on the other hand didn't. She stayed right where she was.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"She came here with a vampire tonight."
Sophie looked uninterested, "Vampires are crawling all over this town." She went to turn but the man, or vampire, as Maddie had realized what they were was walking towards them. His fangs bared. The other vampire grabbed Sophie.
As quick as he had grabbed her he was gone. Not a moment later something dropped to the ground. Maddie had to look away as she had no interested in seeing someone's organs outside of their body. However, a smile was coming to her face. Elijah. Or Klaus. She would be fine with either one coming out and making their presence known at this point. Those men had been weird. And obviously there was something going on in this town that she had no knowledge of. The other man turned back from looking at his former friends' heart. He was prepared to go after Sophie and Maddie but before he could even turn fully Elijah had him by his shoulders, throwing him to the top of a building where he quickly died seeing as a sphere went through his chest.
"I'm Elijah," he was still looking towards the sky. She knew it was bad timing but Maddie couldn't help but think about how hot he looked. He turned towards Sophie asking, "You heard of me?"
There was shock was all over her face. She responded nervously, nodding her head, "Yes."
"So why don't you tell me what business your family has with my brother."
"That's why we're here?" Both Elijah and the woman looked over to Maddie. She had her arms crossed and was immediately feeling slightly annoyed with Elijah. "Because someone wants to kill Klaus, that's why we are here?"
"I told you that I wanted to bring you to New Orleans."
"Yes, you did tell me that but you made it a point that you wanted to bring me right now and I'm going to assume that it's because of whatever is going on with your brother." There was nothing but silence. "Please, feel free to step in at any time. Tell me how wrong the theories that I am coming up with in my are right now." Still silence. "I'm waiting."
"No need to be dramatic."
"I'm not being dramatic! This goes right back to you not telling me things. Don't tell me Katherine is here too?"
"I have no knowledge of that."
"HEY!" The couple turned to Sophie, "Not that your couple drama isn't interesting, it is, we should go before more of Marcel's men come."
"Marcel?" Elijah asked curiously. "Tell me, where is Marcel?"
"Around," Sophie said glancing around the dark alleyway that they were in. "And I'm sure he is coming or sending someone. Especially when he finds these two out here."
"I have no problem putting him in his rightful place."
"You don't put Marcel in his place."
A sly grin came over his face, "I do."
"Who is Marcel?"
Elijah glanced at her, "No one that you have to worry about."
"That's just rich!"
"GUYS!" Sophie yelled again.
"Sorry," Maddie muttered. "Well since it seems we won't be finishing out drinks would you mind telling us what's going on?"
"I can show you better than I can tell you."
"Well," Maddie said not enjoying the silence. "I would have brought a jacket had I known I would be in a freezing graveyard." She looked ahead at the gates that were closed. She wondered if people would be able to see them from the outside as they could see the outside easily from where they were standing.
"You'll get used to it."
She shook her head, "I doubt that." She had no plans on meeting up in graveyards. In fact, she hoped that this was only a one time thing. Along with that she hoped that Elijah would hurry up with Klaus. She came up off of the wall when the gate opened up. Elijah and Klaus walking in. She felt relieved. It had taken them awhile and she was starting to wonder if everything was okay.
"Sophie Devereaux," Klaus spoke entering alongside Elijah. He then looked around his smile growing, "Ah would you look at that Maddison Bennett. Haven't seen you in a while love."
"Hi Klaus."
"I see my brother has dragged you here."
"Funny. Real funny."
Elijah spoke up looking at Sophie, "He's all yours. Proceed."
"So bossy," she muttered.
Klaus threw her a smile while Elijah just gave her a look. She returned the look before quickly looking away but a smirk resided on her face.
"You know your famous in this town," Sophie began looking to Klaus. "Witches tell bedtime stories about the powerful vampire Klaus."
"Don't boost his ego," Maddie said.
"Don't be rude Maddison," grinned Klaus. "Let her continue."
Sophie ignored them and kept talking, "We know Marcel was nothing but an orphan street rat until you made him what he is. And now he's out of control. He does what he wants, kills who he wants, I'm gonna stop him. And you're going to help me."
Maddie immediately knew this was going to go anywhere. Sophie demanding things from Klaus wasn't going to work. That wasn't how he operated.
Klaus turned and pointed between Elijah and Sophie. "This is why you brought me here?"
"Hear her out," Elijah said.
"I don't need to hear her out. I assure you love there is not a thing on this earth that will matter enough for me to waste even thirty more seconds of my time." He turned back to his brother, "Elijah what madness is this?"
"It's them," Sophie said nodding to the gates. Klaus turned. He watched as a group of witches walked in. "And me."
He turned back to her walking all the way up to her, "Speak," he growled. "NOW!"
"We want our freedom. And you are going to get it for us."
"And why do you think that I would do that?"
"Your family once ruled this town, did they not? And then you left, or as Marcel likes to tell it you ran from your father. We thought that you the original hybrid wouldn't run from anything." Sophie took a step closer, "Tell me that you don't crave the power you once had in this town. Tell me you don't miss ruling this place. Tell me you don't want your city back!"
"Even if I did want my city back I certainly don't need any of you to get it."
"You think that Marcel is just going to fall in line because you tell him to?" Sophie wondered. It was obvious she doubted Marcel would do something just because Klaus was telling him to.
Maddie continued to wonder who this Marcel man was. She would definitely be asking Elijah more about this man later but for now she was willing to let it go. When they were alone it would be a completely different story.
"I'm not worried about Marcel," spat Klaus. "In fact, he and everyone else in this town should be worried about me."
"What about those who aren't?"
"Get to the point or I am gone!"
"There are people in this town conspiring against you and your family."
"What else is new."
"We can help you. If you help us."
It seemed like Klaus was actually taking their offer seriously. But then a grin came over his face, "Let them try to kill me. I would love nothing more than to help them meet the end of their days." He looked around the room, giving Maddie a small nod before turning to Elijah. "Goodbye brother."
When he was long gone Maddie spoke, "Well. That went well."
"So, who is this Marcel person?" Maddie asked once they were back in their hotel room. Elijah ignored her. She wondered if he had even heard her since he was staring at the wall. "Elijah!"
"My apologizes," he seemed to have snapped out of whatever phase he had been in. "What was your question?"
"Marcel. Who is he? What does he want? How do you know him? Why is everyone so scared or annoyed with him."
"Marcel is the son Niklaus never had."
"My brother took him in," said Elijah. "One day we were all on our way to a funeral myself, Niklaus and Kol. Marcel was almost beaten when Klaus stepped in. Took him in, fathered him."
"Wow." She never thought that she would have this much respect for Klaus. But she found the story to be touching. "That was sweet of him."
"Yes. However, when Mikael came for us we had to leave." He began to pace around the room, "We once ruled this town. Our family. This is the first home we ever truly had and we had to let it go. We were all devastated when Mikael came. But such is life. We moved on and now we are back."
She understood, "And now that you're back you want to stay?"
Elijah continued walking until he was outside on the balcony. She followed. There was nothing but silence for a while as they stared out onto the busy streets of New Orleans.
"Would that be wrong?" He suddenly asked. "If we stayed. Took bag control of the power we once had."
She wasn't sure how to answer. "I don't know Elijah. If you want to rebuild your life here I am not going to stop you. That isn't my place." He gave her a comforting smile. She felt bad for her next words but she knew that she had to say it now or by the time she did it would be way to late. And they were trying this whole honestly thing out. "But if you do come here I won't be here with you."
Elijah's face didn't change, "I see you've made up your mind."
"I have. I love it here, I do. But North Carolina has had my heart since I visited. I don't want to spend the rest of my life thinking about what could have been and all because I followed the love of my life here." She took a slight step closer to him and grabbed his hand. "And I do love you. I really do but I am going to go to North Carolina," she said standing tall. "And even though I'm going there I still want us to be together."
Elijah squinted at her before pulling her to him. "I wouldn't have it any other way." A smile crept over her face. They would be okay. Even if they were apart their relationship would be okay. They would find a way to make it work. "I'm sure with all of my trips as a businessman I can come and see you anytime."
"Ha ha! You are so funny."
Thank you all so much for reading and reviewing to this story. It's crazy how I am more than half way done. In fact, I think I only have about 3 to 5 chapters left and then maybe an Epilogue. Anyways, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate all of the support you all give.
In this chapter … Elijah takes Maddie to New Orleans.
On the next chapter … The Last Day
