Chapter 7: The Wüstenfüchse and the Red Devil

Unknown time

Angela's POV

I felt the soft grass touching my skin but something was not right, my legs felt cold.

"Wait…grass? I am still alive? What about vater? Is he still alive?" I thought. I immediately sat up and looked around. I saw a large figure lying near to me. I didn't know what it was but as my vision came clear I could see it was my father as I could see his cap and his field marshal baton. I tried to get up but I realized I couldn't bend my legs.

"Why can't I bend my legs?" I said as I turned back to see my legs were encased in a strange metal contraption that resemble an Fw-190.

"Wait went did I know that? What is going on here?" I said to myself. I then realized that I had a tail. I was stunned as I had a tail and checking my head, I could feel fox ears on my head. I was confused.

"What is going on?" I asked.

"*Groan*" I heard my father groan and I saw him move. Quickly I moved over to my father.

"Father? Are you okay?" I asked.

"Angela? Are you alright? Are you hurt in anyway?" My father asked as he turned around to face me.

"I am fine, father, what about you?" I asked.

"I am good but why do you have fox ears?" My father asked.

"I don't know father but that is not the only thing" I said.

"What else is strange, Angela, my father asked.

"I have a fox tail and my legs are encased in some sort of metal contraption. My father sat up and looked at me.

"It seems you do so and you have a Luftwaffe uniform on and you have a MG-42 as well" My father pointed out. I then looked at myself and realized that he was true; I was not in my coat but in a Luftwaffe officer uniform except for the pants however I had a short skirt, also I had a weapon slung on my back.

"What happened to us, father?" I asked.

"It seems that fireball has transported us to somewhere but I don't know where" My father said as he looked around. I also looked around and saw that the area around us was completely different that we were in before.

"Father, can you help me take these things off?" I asked.

"Ja" My father said as he walked up to me and slowly pulled off the metal contraptions of my legs. They came off without much problem however my tail and ears remained. I noticed that I had boots on my legs and long black socks.

"How do I remove these?" I said as I then felt them retract into my body without any pain.

"Well, now at least we don't need to worry about the ears and tail, now though they did made you look cute" My father smiled.

"Father, please! I am 17 years old" I hastily said.

"Now" My father said as he stood up and helped me up, "We need to find a vehicle"

"True how are we going to find…father" I said as I noticed a vehicle very close to where we were standing.

"Yes, Angela?" My father asked.

"Father isn't that your staff car?" I pointed to a car that parked just behind the bush to our right.

"Well it is but what is it doing here?" My father asked.

"I don't know, maybe you know" I said.

"Well, whatever reason it is here, it is here and hopefully it has fuel" My father said as he watched up to his staff car, "Bring those metal contraptions with you, they must have a purpose if they were found on our legs.

"Ja, father" I said as I picked up the two metal contraptions and brought them to the car. My father found the car was not lock.

"Hmm, it is not locked and I can see the keys inside" My father said as he stepped into the car, he then tried to start the car and the engine revved, "And the engine still works, alright, Angela, place the gear in the back and I will drive us to the nearest town"

"Jawohl" I said as I stored the two in the bonnet of the car and I then when to the forward passenger seat and hopped in.

"Alright, let's see if we can find out where we are" My father said as he drove the car down the road. We drove for quite some time until.

"Father! Look there is a castle, maybe there is a town near there" I pointed to a very large castle that stood in the distance.

"Wunderbar, if we are in luck, it might be occupied by our own soldiers" My father said. We drove towards the castle and when we got there we were surprised at what we saw.

"Father, aren't those German soldiers?" I asked.

"Ja" My father said.

"But why are they with American soldiers?" I asked.

"Maybe the war is over and we achieve some form of peace" My father said as we drove up to the gate. Two soldiers stood in front of the gates. I was surprised to see it was an Italian and an American soldier standing at the door. I watched nervously as two soldiers, one German and one American came to the car. The American came to my father's door and looked at him. I was surprised to see his eyes widened in surprise.

"Field Marshal Rommel? What brings you to the 501st Joint Fighter Wing Base?" The American soldier asked. I could tell that my father was confused and surprised the American soldier's question.

"I was just here with my daughter to visit the unit unofficially" My father answered.

"Oh, this is an honour to have both Field Marshal and Captain Rommel to visit this base" The German said.

"We are just visiting…" I said but I didn't know the German's name.

"Corporal Albert Leberecht, ma'am" The German soldier said.

"Well, as my father said, Corporal Leberecht, we are just visiting" I said.

"Ok, we let you pass sir" The American said.

"Thank you…" My father tried to thank the American who smiled.

"My name is Nixon, Richard Nixon, sir, Sergeant Major Richard Nixon" The soldier said,

"Thank you, Nixon" My father said.

"No problem, alright, Alberto, Mack, open the gates" Richard answered. The gates went up and my father drove into the castle compound. My father then drove to the gate of the castle where he parked the car.

"Alright, let's what is going on here" My father said as he stepped out of the car. I followed suit. We walked into the castle and I was amazed by the architecture that I then bumped into another soldier and it was a British soldier this time although his accent was not that of a British man.

"Oh, I am very sorry about that Madame; I was not paying attention to where I was going" The British soldier apologized; I was surprised that he had a Frenchman's accent. He had circular glasses and he had short blonde curly hair. I also saw a strand of hair that curled under his helmet.

"It is alright, I too wasn't paying attention as well" I said. He then looked at me with more detailed.

"Are you alright capitaine? You seemed slightly flustered" The British soldier said.

"I am fine, thank you for asking" I said. My father looked at me and at the British soldier and just kept quiet.

"It is alright, capitaine Rommel" The British man said.

"What is your name, soldier?" I asked.

"Oh, sorry, I completely forgot, I am Lieutenant Matthew Williams of the Farawaylander 544th Anti-Aircraft Battalion" the man smiled. Wait? Farawaylander, what is that? I have never heard of a region or nation like that. Just then another officer came into the conversation, judging from his uniform, he looked American. He looked like the Farawaylander only his hair was messy. He wore glasses as well but he had rectangular shaped ones.

"Hey Matt, I had been looking for you, where have you been?" The American officer said.

"Who are you?" My father asked.

"Oh, sorry sir, I am Captain Alfred F. Jones of the Liberion 344th Anti-Air Battalion at your service" The second officer said. Another country I have never heard of.

"Uncle Rommel? I thought you were dead" I heard someone said. My father and I turned to see a pilot that we both knew. It was cousin Erich, one of my favourite cousins as he was an experienced pilot and he sometimes come to visit and he would tell me spectacular stories. He sometimes bring his ersatz niece, Hanna who I am g

"Hartmann? Is that you?" My father said as he turned to see our relative.

"Mein Gott, thank Gott, it brought you here" Erich said as he came to hug my father.

"What are you talking about, cousin Erich?" I asked.

"Oh, so no one filled you in yet huh?" Erich said.

"What are you talking about?" My father asked.

"Sirs, we will be moving along now" Matthew said.

"Yeah, we need to get to our positions" Alfred said.

"Ok, you can go" Erich said.

"Yes sir" Two officers said before they left.

"So what is going on here?" My father demanded.

"Well, it is like this…." Erich began explaining what was going on. I was surprised to hear that he had magic and I as well. He told us that we were in another world where everyone was fighting together against an alien race that was hell bent on destroying everything. He added that all the nations have different names and their borders are that of that before World War 1. He also explained that the only things stopping the neuroi as they were called were girls who magic powers called witches and he said that I was a witch as well. I was amazed by all of this. What made me and my father even more surprised was that there were witch version of him and the other pilots that have travelled to this new world.

"So does that mean that I am a witch?" I asked.

"Yes, it does" Erich said.

"So what do we do now?" My father asked.

"Well uncle, you will have to stay with us here" Erich said.

"Us" I enquired, "Who are you with?"

"Well, let me introduce you two to them" Erich said. We followed Erich to a hangar like structure where we saw a large number of men, women and girls there. I saw a large four engine aircraft that stood outside of the hangar. What surprised me was that most of the girls in the hangar were around my age and they all had nothing covering their legs. They all turned towards Erich, me and my father. The Germans, well I think they were Germans immediately saluted and the rest followed suit. My father and I instinctively replied the salute.

"Generalfeldmarschall Rommel! Captain Rommel! This is unexpected to see you here" A redhead girl said.

"Calm down, Minna, these two Rommels is from is from my world and my cousin here isn't even in the Luftwaffe" Erich said.

"Still, he still holds the rank of Field Marshal and she has the rank of captain" The redhead replied.

"True, uncle, cousin, these are my fellow fliers" Erich said motioned to the people in front of us.

"Air Chief Marshal Katherine Iyana Litvyak of the Imperial Orussian Air Forces, pleasure to meet you, Rommel" A woman with long white hair said. I was surprised to see that she was in a

"Colonel Minna Dietlinde Wilcke, Karlslander Luftwaffe at your service sir" The red head said.

"Commander Mio Sakamoto of the Fusoan Navy" A girl with an eyepatch and a sword strapped to her back.

"I am Flight Officer Perrine Clostermann and I am a part of the Gallian Air Force" A blonde long haired spectated girl said. I noticed that there was someone on the supporting beam.

"Who is that on the beam?" I asked.

"Oh that is Flight Officer Francesca Lucchini of the Royal Romagnan Air Force, she likes to sleep in places like there" Shirley answered.

"Oh, I hope she doesn't fall" My father said.

"Don't worry, she will be fine" Amirah said as she slipped a cigarette between her lips.

"I am Flight Officer Eila Ilmatar Juutilainen of the Suomish Air Force" A platinum blonde girl said.

"I am Lieutenant Marie Gertrude von Richthofen of the Karlslander Luftwaffe" A black haired woman said.

"Hi, I am Lieutenant Amy Widodo of the Royal Dutch Air Force" A black haired girl smiled.

"I am First Lieutenant Franciscka Stigler of the Karlslander Luftwaffe" A blonde girl said.

"Hi! I am Warrant Officer Yoshiko Nishizawa of the Imperial Fusoan Navy, glad to meet you" A short brown haired girl that looked the other brunette just before.

"I am General Dimitri Petrenko of the Orussian Imperial Army and husband of Katherine Litvyak" A young Russian officer said.

"Now it is us pilots' turn" One of the men said, "I will go first, I am Air Chief Marshal Katherov Ivan Litvyak of the Red Army Air Forces" A blonde man said.

"I am Colonel Wolf-Dietrich Wilcke of the German Luftwaffe, sir" A man with blonde hair said.

"I am Captain Kaneyoshi Muto of the Imperial Japanese Navy, it is a pleasure to meet you" A young looking man smiled.

"Hello, I am Major Riki Ogawa of the Imperial Japanese Air Force" A Japanese pilot said.

"Captain Gerhard Barkhorn from the German Luftwaffe, nice to see you again, Field Marshal and Captain" Gerhard smiled.

"Morgen, I am Captain Marcus Gerhard von Richthofen of the German Luftwaffe as well" An older man said.

"Hello, I am Captain Charles E. Yeager of the United States Army Air Forces but I prefer to be called Chuck" An American man greeted.

"Hi, I am Captain Gregory "Greg" Tyson also from USAAF, I also am a journalist for the New York Times well back in our world" The second American smiled.

"Bonjour, I am Captain Pierre Henri Clostermann of the Free French Air Forces" A French man said.

"I am Captain Saburo Sakai of the Imperial Japanese Navy, it is an honour to meet such historic figures" Another Japanese pilot said.

"Hai, I am Flight Lieutenant Amirul Ashraf bin Sulaiman of the British Royal Air Force, it is nice to meet you, sir" A tan skin man smiled with a cigarette in his mouth and he then pointed to the same beam the Francesca girl was sleeping on to reveal a man leaning on the beam sleeping as well, And that is Flight Officer Franco Lucchini of the Italian Regia Aeronautica"

"Good morning sir and ma'am, I am Flight Lieutenant Arthur Bishop also from the British Royal Air Force, it is nice to meet you" A British pilot said.

"I am First Lieutenant Franz Stigler of the German Luftwaffe, glad to meet you sir" Another German said.

"Hi I am Flight Officer Eino Ilmari Juutilainen of the Finnish Air Force" A Finnish man said.

"Hello, I am Pilot Officer Lydia Vladimirovna of the Soviet Air Forces and da I am the younger sister of Katherov Litvyak" A blonde woman said.

"Halo, I am Warrant Officer Hanna Eva von Richthofen of the German Luftwaffe and ja, Marcus Gerhard Richthofen is my father" A young German woman said.

"Well, I am Warrant Officer Lily Widodo of the Republic of Indonesia Air Force" A tan woman said.

"Hi, I am Second Lieutenant Charles Brown of the US Army Air Force, do call me Charlie, everyone does" An American still in his flight suit.

"Hey, I am Second Lieutenant Mack Taylor of the US Army Air Force, um…nice to meet you" Another American said.

"Hello, I am Master Sergeant William Peter Lydon of the USAAF, it is a pleasure to meet you sir" A bespectacled American said.

"Well I am First Sergeant Thomas Yates and I am in the USAAF" Another American said.

"Technical Sergeant Erwin Hoth at your service, I might have a German accent but I am in the USAAF" A blonde American said.

"Technical Sergeant Henry Tokugawa, USAAF, pleased to make your acquaintance" A Japanese American said.

"Staff Sergeant John Gonzales, USAAF, it is nice to meet you all" Another American said.

"Staff Sergeant Wilfred Wong, USAAF, here to serve" A Chinese American who had a cigarette in his mouth smiled.

"Hello, Staff Sergeant Ben Whiting of the USAAF at your service" A brunette American grinned.

"And we all are part of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing" Erich smiled.

"Well, this one unique unit, well some of you know me but I will introduce myself, I am Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel of the German Wehrmacht" My father smiled.

"And I am Angela Michelle Rommel, well now that is Captain Angela Michelle Rommel as you can see" I said. I noticed Erich looked at me.

"Angela, you have a German Luftwaffe uniform on you right?" Erich asked.

"Yes, I do, why?" I asked.

"Do you have a plane with you?" Erich asked.

"No" I replied, confused by Erich's question.

"Well, we do have a MG-42 and a pair large metal contraptions in my staff car" My father said.

"It looks like you have strikers, Angela" Erich said.

"Do you want me to go get them?" I asked.

"Sure, I will go and help, uncle, if you don't mind, is it alright that you stay here with everyone else?" Erich asked.

"I have no problem with that actually" My father said.

"Danke uncle" Erich said.

"We will be back soon father" I said as Erich and I left for my father's staff car.

Charles Brown's POV

It was quite strange to say the least like one moment we were enroute back to England after being helped by a German pilot then after one hell of a storm we end up in another world. The guys that were already here from our world explained to us what the heck was going on here. I don't about you but it is quite surprising to meet the witch version of yourself. Then there were other weird things happened, like my B-17F is now a B-17G and somehow was given one hell of a modification, first it was fixed up; then the engines were replaced with bigger ones; next the nose, top turret, ball turret and tail guns were swapped with Oerlikon 20 mms while the other gun positions now have dual 50. Cal MGs well except for the cheek machine guns and it also has better equipment like the radio is a new model, the controls were more sensitive and it has radar. I don't know about the rest of the crew but I am quite happy with the buffed up Fortress. Though, I do miss Paul, yeah that guy was a son of a bitch but he was a good son of bitch and he knew what the fuck he was doing at the tail. Well, he is gone now but you won't find his body in the plane. He had a strange request.

"If I ever die while we are still flying, I want you guys to chuck my dead body out of the plane, and I don't care how; just do it" Paul said. We did that and that was the last of Paul we will ever see. Well back to this world, so we met the pilot that saved me and my crew and he was glad to hear that we made it. We were gathered in the hangar, we had just been explained about this world and what is in it. After that comes one of the highest ranking German officers in the whole German Army come in with his daughter. Well now the said daughter and her cousin went to get her strikers, another mystery added to our travel. Anyway now the girls were looking at a new piece of military hardware. From looking at it was red and it had no propellers anywhere. It did have two tubes on the wings.

"Oh…So this is the new model from Karlsland" Mio, the girl with the eyepatch said.

"More precisely, it's a prototype" Minna the redhead said as it looked into the dossier, "Me 262 V1, it's a jet striker"

"Jet?" Erica, the short haired blonde said as she peered over Mio's shoulder. Minna turned to face Erica.

"It looks like my jet but mine is not red"

"Captain Hartmann…" Minna said but Mio finished her sentence.

"Why are you dressed like that?" Mio asked.

"Damn it, Hartmann! Put some clothes on! We have men in here!" Gertrude, the twin tailed brunette said while running in. She then realized that there was a pair of strikers there, "Huh? What's that?"

"Apparently, a jet striker" Erica said.

"Jet? The thing R&D's been working on?" Gertrude asked.

"I heard about a new striker, didn't think it was going to be a jet" Marie, one of the older girls said.

"Well, if it is projects like these, it would be best to keep it under wraps or it will cause problems for you if there say some with ill intentions" Gregory, a young pilot with a smoking pipe.

"Well, it arrived from Neue Karlsland this morning" Minna said. "Remember that Ju-290 that came with Erich and Franz?"

"So that was how it was delivered" Mio said.

"So that is why Rosario rang me up in the middle of the night" Katherine the girl with the long silver hair said.

"Anyway, it's many times more powerful than a reciprocating engine striker; a listed top speed of 950 km/h" Minna continued.

"Damn, that is fast" Chuck, the older American guy said.

"950? That is incredible!" Shirley the light brown brunette in her undies said as she bent down and began stroking the jet striker, "Wow"

"Okay, looking somewhere else" Mack said as he looked away.

"So… Will, got a smoke on you?" Thomas asked.

"Here, I still got some left" William said.

"This is the reciprocating engine striker's eventual replacement" Minna said.

"Shirley; why are you dressed like that, too? We have men with us now" Mio pointed out. Shirley just ignored Mio and continued stroking the striker. Then I saw Gertrude walk up to a rack which had a very big gun and a number of smaller guns.

"What's this?" Gertrude asked as she looked at the guns.

"Weapons specially developed for the jet striker" Minna said as she flipped through the dossier, "One 50 mm cannon; also four 30 mm auto cannons"

"Hey Gerhard, where is the 50 mm cannon on your jet?" Lydia, the lone Russian girl asked.

"Well, the Me-262 can mount the 50 mm cannon but that is not standard as it is for a different variant of the Me-262, the 30 mm cannons are standard though" Gerhard, the brunet German said.

"Oh, that is good to know" Lydia said.

"Incredible!" Gertrude said.

"Can it really fly with all that equipped?" Mio asked. I am wondering too because those guns look very heavy.

"Hey, hey" Shirley called out, "Let me try this one"

"No, I am going to try it" Gertrude said.

"Says who? I don't see your name written on it!" Shirley rebutted.

"What are you talking about? If anyone should use a striker developed in Karlsland, it's me!" Gertrude barked. I noticed that Francesca that was sleeping on the pillar began to stir and so was Franco who had somehow joined her.

"Nationality has nothing to do with it; this thing flies over 950 km/h! I am the expert when it comes to high speed, so I should be the one to wear it" Shirley argued.

"Is speed all you ever think about?" Gertrude barked.

"Don't be a hog" Shirley said.

"They are at it again" Minna sighed.

"I wonder what would be sooner, hell freezing over or those getting along with each other" Katherine said.

"Don't you think it is it strange that we are fine with each other while those two are at loggerhead at each other?" Gerhard said.

Chuck's POV

"Well, that shows that even though our worlds are similar there are still differences and…what is Francesca trying to do?" I said as I noticed Francesca getting up and by this time most of the girls except for Mio, Erica, Minna, Gertrude, Shirley and Francesca had left the hangar. The B-17 bomber crew, Field Marshal Rommel, Captain Rommel followed Yoshika, Charlie and Lynette for a tour of the castle. Erich, Sakai, Wolf, Katherov, Lydia, Eino, Franz, Marcus, Hanna, Amirul, Riki, Lily and Pierre all left the hangar as well.

"I hope, she isn't going to do what I think she is going to do" Muto said as he looked up.

"Better get ready, Muto" Hiroyoshi said. We watched as Francesca leap of the beam while doing a front flip.

"First one in!" Francesca shouted as she fell towards the striker. Franco for some odd reason decided to the same thing but jumped onto the platform behind the striker storage unit. He arrived first and surprising he was unscathed. Then Francesca appeared who aced her landing into the strikers.

"H-Hey!" Gertrude exclaimed turned to Francesca.

"No fair, Lucchini" Shirley gasped.

"Perfect score for me" I said.

"Same" Gerhard agreed with me.

"Eleven out of ten" Muto said.

"A nine" Hiroyoshi said. We all glanced over to Hiroyoshi who just shrugged, "What? It balances out and she still gets a perfect score"

"Oh yeah it does if you thought about it" I said as we watched Francesca call on her familiar. She had a gleeful smile.

"If you wanna win, you've gotta to be quick" Francesca smiled. The room was filled with a bright blue glow as the Me-262 strikers began to warm up. I watched the strikers then saw something is not going right.

"Something is not right" I said slowly as I observed the jet striker.

"I can see that as well" Gerhard said. Suddenly we saw Francesca tail begin to spike out and Franco immediately pulled her out but just a second to late as it looks she was hit by electricity. Francesca then ran to a striker storage unit. Franco immediately ran after her and hugged her and began to calm her down.

"Hush now, Francesca, everything will be alright, okay" Franco said as he held Francesca who was cowering.

"Lucchini" Shirley shouted as she ran to Franco. Gerhard, Muto and I ran to Franco and Francesca to check on them.

"Lucchini, what happened?" Shirley asked.

"I-I felt something crazy" Francesca said. Franco continued to stroke Francesca as to calm her down

"Something crazy?" Shirley asked.

"I hate it" Francesca said with tears in her eyes as she turned to look at Shirley, "Shirley, don't wear it"

"I would do what Francesca said if I were you" I said softly.

"Jets are not toys, they can a beast you can't control" Gerhard added also softly.

"Heed her warning, Shirley, when I tried to pull Francesca out, I felt a surge of electricity flow through me" Franco added. Shirley stood up and turned to face the rest of the witches there.

"Yeah, I think I'll pass on it" Shirley said.

"What?" Gertrude asked.

"Thinking about it a bit, there's still lots I haven't done yet with a reciprocating engine yet, there is plenty of time for jets later" Shirley said.

"Cold feet, huh?" Gertrude smirked, "Then watch me, I will wear it"

"I do hope Gertrude knows what she is getting herself into" I said.

"I think she is going to try and take off" Kaneyoshi said.

"Well she isn't going far with that Flying Fortress in the way" I said while looking at the B-17.

"I will tow the plane" Gerhard said as he ran to the B-17. He then activated his magic and pulled the B-17 to the left side of the runway. We turned back to Gertrude who was still in the jet striker.

"Incredible" Gertrude said. I swore I saw her face was blushing as she said that. Then Francesca peeked over the storage unit.

"Huh…." Francesca uttered.

"Well? With your reciprocating striker, think you can beat this?" Gertrude challenged.

"Oh this is going to be bad" I thought to myself. I saw Mio and Minna glance towards and just shrugged. Erica just yawned.

"What did you say?" Shirley raised her voice. Then Yoshika, Lynette and Arthur reappeared with their aprons on well Arthur didn't have one, he just wore his undershirts and pants. That made me realizes that we need to get some clothes for me and the other guys because we only have our officer uniform and flight gear on us and nothing else to wear.

"Hi everyone, I been looking for you all" Yoshika waved. I looked at my watch and saw that it was already 10 am and I think none of us here had their breakfast yet.

"Breakfast is ready" Lynette smiled.

"Come on, let's eat" Arthur said.

"Huh?" Lynette and Yoshika uttered.

"I wonder what is going on here" Arthur said.

"Act your age already, will you?" Gertrude barked.

"You are behaving like a kid who just got a new toy" Shirley replied.

"Sour grapes? How pathetic" Gertrude responded.

"I just changed my mind, I am fine with this one" Shirley said as she placed her hand on her P-51 strikers.

"You Liberions love your lies of convenience" Gertrude barked.

"What?! You're a stubborn, military blockhead!" Shirley rebutted.

"They are fighting again" Yoshika said.

"Do they do this all the time?" Arthur asked.

"Well, not all the time but they do get into arguments like these" Lynette answered.

1210hrs

We had eaten our breakfast or brunch if you wanted to be specific. I don't care really as long I got food in my stomach. Anyway Gerhard and I had decided see what Shirley and Gertrude are going to get themselves into. We just arrived to the front of the hangar when the said witches zoom out of the hangar, down the runway and into the sky.

"Holy fuck! That was terrifying" I said.

"I agree" Gerhard said. We then looked to the end of the runway then up to watch the two witches ascend at phenomenal speeds.

"Go" Gertrude shouted while Shirley grunted. At the end of the runway were Perrine, Yoshika, Lynette, Francesca, Pierre, Arthur and Franco.

"What on earth is going on?" Perrine asked.

"Barkhorn and Shirley are competing" Lynette said.

"If that is the case, it is going to be long day" Pierre said.

"Round one is who go the highest! Good luck Shirley!" Francesca shouted.

"Come on girls! Show what you both can do!" Franco cheered.

"Staying on the fence, huh, Franco" Pierre enquired.

"Better safe than sorry" Franco grinned.

"That will be easy to determine" Gerhard said.

"Just watch, it will more fun" I said.

"True, why ruin the fun" Gerhard said. We watched as the two soar into the blue sky.

"This is Muto, they just passed me at 3000 m" Muto radioed. We could hear Muto's radio message because of the transponders the girls gave us which allowed us to hear any radio messages the girls broadcast without having to be in our planes to hear it. We also decided to have the B-17 crew who all now have magic powers stay with us.

"This is Katherov, they flew past me at 6000 m" Katherov radioed. We saw Lydia, Eino, Eila and Sanya flying even higher. Then above them was the B-17.

"Shirley topped out at an elevation of 12000 m" Sanya reported, "Barkhorn is still going. Amazing"

"Yeah, same results here wow that jet striker is really something" Lydia confirmed Sanya's reading.

"Huh…" Eila lazily said.

"Nothing excites you huh, Eila?" Eino joked.

"What to do with, when you can see into the future" Eila replied.

"This is Thomas; Gertrude is now at 14500 m" Thomas, the navigator/radar operator announced.

"Well that is interesting" Gerhard said.

"Why is that?" I asked.

"My jet can only has a service altitude of 11450 m, more now that I have magic" Gertrude but I doubt it can go more than 12000 m" Gerhard said.

"That is interesting, my P-51has a service ceiling of 12500 m, 13000 if I count my magic" I said.

"So it seems that either Shirley's P-51 is an earlier variation or Gertrude's Me262 is using more powerful engine" Gerhard said.

Later

Hangar

We were having lunch in the hangar as the dining hall didn't fit everyone.

"Aha-ha! I win!" Shirley grinned as she took the first baked potato from the plate before Gertrude did.

"Bitter over losing earlier? That's pathetic, Major" Gertrude teased.

"Ah, it's so good" Shirley said whilst ignoring Gertrude.

"Good luck next round, Shirley" Francesca said as she popped up next to Shirley.

"Thanks! You know I'm gonna win" Shirley replied.

"Oh this is going to be interesting" I said.

"So, Chuck who's your money on?" Charles asked.

"I don't know, Charles, I wanna go for Shirley but Gertrude has the jet" I said.

Later

Hangar

Marcus's POV

Marie and I were finishing up on the fighter that we were building from the parts I had in my JU-52 when we saw Shirley getting ready to take off and she had a vest which had many pouches filled with BAR magazines.

"Can you fly, carrying all of that?" Yoshika asked loudly over Shirley's roaring strikers.

"MY P-51 is my all-purpose weapon; I can count on it no matter the situation" Shirley smiled.

"What's the event this time?" Perrine asked.

"Apparently it's an arsenal load competition, to see who can carry the most weight"

"Although, Charlie can carry more weight as she does have her B-17 strikers" Chuck said.

"Yeah but this between fighters and Charlie's strikers are bombers so hers are new category all together" Gerhard said.

"True but I was pointing out" Gerhard said.

"Who do you think will win?" Marie asked me as she glanced over to the crowd.

"Personally, I think Gertrude would win as she has the jet which can carry more weight, couple that with Gertrude's Super Strength, she will have more capacity to carry more.

"Shouldn't you start by shedding some of that weight off your chest, Shirley?" Perrine said. Marie and I just looked at Perrine, surprised at what Perrine said. What made it worse was that Lynette was looking her own breasts and Yoshika was looking at Perrine's chest with disapproval all over her face.

"Sorry to keep you waiting" Gertrude announced her arrival and boy was she armed. She had a belt of 50 mm rounds slung over her shoulder with the 50 mm cannon strapped to her back when at the same time in both her hands were the two twin 30 mm cannons.

"A-Are you okay with all of that?" Yoshika asked, shocked by Gertrude's load out.

"This is nothing" Gertrude proudly said.

"Hey… There's no way you fly with all that" Shirley exclaimed.

In the sky

Ben Whiting's POV

I was manning my position as ball gunner in our B-17. It has been an interesting day to say the least from flying over the English Channel to flying over the Adriatic Sea in a completely new world and to find out that you now have magic powers. My magic power is apparently ice related as when I activated my magic, the room temperature dropped and there was ice forming at my feet. I then realized I could use this to my advantage as I can keep my new Oerlikons firing for much longer as my guns don't overheat so much. Right now however, we were flying near a barrage balloon which was going to be the target for the two competing witches.

"So what is our job again?" Johnathan asked.

"We were asked to record Shirley and Gertrude's competition, you the easy going one and the by the rule one" Thomas replied.

"Well, it did give an opportunity for us to get acquainted with our new equipment and magic" Mack said.

"That is true because I am loving these 20 mm cannons" I said.

"Hey, those witches are in sight and holy shit, one of them is flying real fast" Thomas, our new radar operator and navigator.

"No way…" I heard Shirley's voice.

"Hey, Ben" John said.

"What is it John?" I asked.

"Where is your guns facing?" John asked.

"To portside why?" I asked.

"Just look ahead" John simply said.

"Holy shit! Hey Charlie, I think I see them and boy one of them is coming in fast" I said.

"Target in sight" I heard Gertrude speak into the radio before she whipped out her four 30 mm cannons began unloading them into the barrage balloon. The balloon after a few shots just exploded.

"This is incredible… This jet striker is incredible!" Gertrude said.

"Holy crap" Shirley uttered.

"Holy crap indeed" I said.

"Alright, let's bring this big girl down" Charles said. We soon came down for a landing and Charles rolled the bomber to the empty patch of ground in front of the hangar on the opposite of all the fighters.

Dinner time

Erich's POV

"Beef stew for dinner, everyone" Yoshika said. Everyone immediately began to chow down.

"Damn, this is good beef stew" Charles smiled.

"Oh, this is some fine stew" William said.

"This is magnificent" Franco smiled.

"This is as good as mother's cooking" Angela said.

"I must agree with my daughter, your cooking is splendid, Sub-Lieutenant" Erwin Rommel said.

"I don't know about cooking, but everything you make is always great, Miyafuji" Shirley said, "Did you use fish stock?"

"Yes, bonito" Yoshika smiled, "Thank you very much"

"What I want to know is why we have to eat in this oil-soaked room" Perrine questioned.

"No complaints during meals" Eila said.

"Yes, we should be grateful that we have food to eat" Eino said.

"It's delicious" Sanya said with a soft smile.

"I agree" Lydia said.

"Once again, you have pampered us with your marvellous cooking" Katherine smiled.

"Seconds please, comrade" Katherov said.

"Yoshika, I am worried about Barkhorn and Shirley" Lynette said.

"I think they are just tired from their competition today" Arthur said.

"This is all I can do for them, I mean; they say people get cranky when they're hungry, right?" Yoshika said.

"Well, that is true, I have seen quite a number of people be very cranky if they haven't eaten" I said before doing a spoonful of beef stew. However I did see that Gertrude was slouched and not moving. She hasn't taken her food yet.

"They do?" Perrine asked.

"You will be amazed how people changed when they are hungry" Pierre said.

"Her inaction is troubling" Gerhard said as he leaned over to me.

"I know" I said.

"Um, aren't you tired, Barkhorn-san?" Yoshika asked as she approached Gertrude with a plate of food.

"Yeah" Gertrude said weakly, "Can you leave that there? I need to rest for a bit"

"She sounds weaker than usual" Gerhard said.

"Something is not right here" I said.

"She does seem very tired, maybe using the jet striker tired her out" Franz said.

"I hope she will be fine" I said.

Hanna's POV

I decided to go get myself washed up but I didn't know where but then Yoshika and Shirley came to the rescue and I followed them. We ended up at the beach with three oil drums, a bunch of jerry cans, six concrete blocks and a lot of firewood. We all had a barrel to ourselves.

"Using oil drums as bathtubs… Who 'da thought, huh?" Shirley smiled as she leaned back into her barrel.

"Sakamoto said she did this all the time when she was in Libau with Nishizawa" Yoshika said.

"I have done this before actually, my father would set up a barrel bath for me because I was the only girl on the base so I can't really shower with the other pilots so my father would set something like this and I will take a bath while my father and Erich would guard" I said. Then Francesca appears and jumps into Yoshika's barrel.

"Ah, Lucchini! It's over capacity!" Yoshika said. She and Francesca began spin around in the barrel. I just smiled at the spectacle.

"We haven't done this in forever, Yoshika!" Francesca playful said.

"I fill this one up all by myself" Shirley laughed. I knew what she meant as I filled up barrel as well.

"Barkhorn should join us…" Yoshika said.

"Let her be" Shirley said.

"Yeah she is tired, Yoshika, I think it is best we let her rest" I said.

"She does seemed to be more tired than usual today" Yoshika said.

"It is that thing's fault!" Francesca said.

"What thing?" Yoshika asked.

"I think Francesca is talking about the strikers Gertrude was using today" I said.

"You mean the jet strikers?" Yoshika asked.

"Yes that!" Francesca got into Yoshika's face.

That night

Erica saw that Gertrude had fallen asleep without even changing so she decided to put her jacket onto of her so she would get cold.

Rommel's POV

Today has been tiring day from being forced to commit suicide to being teleported to another world to find that my daughter and I are not the only ones plus now that my daughter is joining the war effort here. I decided to gather my thoughts in the common room of this base though it echoes more a castle than a military base. I found it surprising to see animal ears and tails to appear from their bodies. I then found that I could the same thing However judging that most of the girls that are stationed here are around my daughter's age or younger, I can see why comfort was included as well. I would do the same if I had special children to fight a war with.

"I had a feeling that I would find you here" I turned to see my nephew enter the room.

"Erich, what are you doing up so late?" I asked as Erich sat down next to me.

"I was having a dinner table tactical meeting with the rest of the commanders" Erich answered as he removed his cap.

"So have you found a room for your cousin?" I asked.

"Yes, she will be bunking with my ersatz niece along with the other two witches, Franciscka and Charlie" Erich said.

"What about the bomber crew?" I asked.

"They are currently sleeping in temporary tents until we can get in fourteen more beds" Erich answered.

"Twelve more beds, why order four extra beds?" I asked.

"Well as spares just in case anything else happens" Erich said.

"So when I go to for sleep? Where do I have to go?" I asked.

"You will be sleeping my room" Erich said.

"That is good to know" I said, "Erich, do you have a cigarette?"

"Yes, I do" Erich said as he pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his right breast pocket. I don't know why but I decided I wanted to have a smoke

"Can I have one?" I asked.

"Um yes, here uncle" Erich said as he pulled out a cigarette from the pack and gave it to me then he slipped one between his lips, he then pulled out a lighter and lit my cigarette then his.

"Danke" I said.

"No problem" Erich said as he pocketed his lighter.

"I wonder how your father would say if he finds you smoking?" I asked.

"He will probably just sigh and tell to watch my smoking" Erich said as he stood up and opened the window.

"So what is it that I am to do now that I am here?" I asked.

"Scheiße, I knew we forgot something during the meeting" Erich said.

"It is alright, it is not like there is much I can do since this air force unit, and I am a ground commander" I said.

"I know that but it doesn't seem right for you to be left out" Erich said. He then looked out the window to the starry sky when I saw that he had an idea.

"What have you thought off, Erich?" I asked.

"Do you mind being the base commander of Pescara Air Base?" Erich asked.

"No I have no problem with that but isn't that stepping into Colonel Wilcke's authority?" I asked.

"I don't think she minds and besides it help remove some of the burden off her shoulders" Erich said.

"That is a good idea" I said.

"Well, I am the nephew of one of Germany's best generals" Erich smiled.

"One of her best but we still lost the war from what Katherov told me" I said.

"Yeah I know; I came here days after our capital surrendered and so did Marcus and his daughter and they were a day after I did…" I saw Erich gaze into nothingness as he fell silent. I know what he is thinking about.

"Do not worry Erich, your wife will be fine" I said.

"I hope so too" Erich said. We finished off our cigarette and retreated for the night. Tomorrow was a big day as my daughter will learn to fly and the final of the competition of the two witches, Charlotte Yeager and Gertrude Barkhorn.

The next day

Angela's POV

I was in the sky and it was a thrilling experience. The wind was so exhilarating. The view was magnificent from up here. I was doing quite well from what Major Sakamoto was telling me. She then decided to let me fly without her watching up close. I saw a gathering up ahead it was Francesca, Shirley and Gertrude. Francesca had a flag in her hands and she looked like she was going to wave it.

"Ready…and go!" Francesca shouted as she swung the flag down. I saw Shirley dash off but Gertrude just stood there, Francesca then began to twirl the flag over her head "Huh? Barkhorn? Go! I said, Go!"

"HMPH!" Gertrude grunted and she dashed and she blew Francesca away and forced me back. I saw her dash off into the distance.

"Himmel, that was fast!" I said.

Gerhard's POV

I was in my jet so keep watch on the race and I saw Shirley lead the race at first but then Gertrude comes by and just zoomed right past Shirley. She then flew off ahead.

"I…I'm actually losing in a race of speed" I heard Shirley said. I watched the cloud line go off into the distance when suddenly it took a sudden and strange path, "What just happened?"

"What the hell? Gertrude, what are you doing?" I said. I then throttled my jet up and chased after Gertrude. Shirley was with me as we both try to get to her however before we could do so she plummeted into the water.

"Scheiße" I swore as I circled overhead, unsure of what to do but Shirley had an idea as she was diving towards the sea.

Meanwhile on the runway

Arthur's POV

I was watching the race from the end of the runway with Lynette, Muto, Yoshika, Pierre, Perrine, Sanya, Lydia, Eila, Eino and Chuck. We watched Gertrude begin to plummet out of the sky and within seconds she fell into the water. I heard the girls gasped while we pilots just stood there in disbelief.

"She crashed!" Perrine said.

"My god" Perrine said.

"MAKE WAY!" Chuck shouted as I saw him jump into the water and swam to where Gertrude sank. I then looked up and Shirley diving towards the water as well however she saw Chuck swimming and decided to back off. I saw Chuck dive into the sea.

"Are they going to make it?" Lynette asked me.

"I don't know, Lynn, I don't know" I answered.

"Damn it! I am going in!" Shirley said over the radio as she began to dive towards the water.

"Hold on Shirley! We can't have everyone jumping into the water!" Gerhard barked into the radio.

"But they have been in the water for too long!" Shirley said as she dived into the water. Tense seconds past as we neither signs of Chuck or Gertrude emerging from the sea.

"OK! I am going in!" Muto shouted as he got ready to jump. However just as he was to jump, Chuck and Shirley broke the water's surface, taking huge gasps of air. I saw that they had Gertrude in his arms. We cheered as they swam to the coast. We immediately ran to the beach and helped Chuck and Shirley drag Gertrude of the water. Muto and Yoshika immediately got to work and began revitalising Gertrude.

Two hours later

Erich's POV

We all gathered around Gertrude's bed as we waited to see if she would wake. Gerhard was pacing heavily behind the girls while I stood next to Erica. The rest of the aces were either standing with the girls, leaned again the wall, sat down or were outside the room. Then Gertrude grunted and her eyes shot open. Everyone immediately crowded the bed.

"She's awake" Erica announced though everyone already knew. I didn't see Chuck or Shirley but seeing that they were in the water for quite some time it was understandable why.

"What's going on, everyone? Do I have something on my face?" Gertrude asked.

"Barkhorn! I'm so glad you're okay!" Yoshika said.

"Yeah, you got no injury on you" Muto said.

"You crashed into the sea, Trude" Erica said.

"Yeah you were lucky you didn't smash into anything when you sank" I said.

"What? I crashed?" Gertrude asked.

"You depleted all your magic and passed out" Minna said, "Don't you remember?"

"I think the impact with the sea make her forget that bit, Minna" Wolf said.

"That's impossible, I'd never make such a rookie mistake" Gertrude argued.

"Nothing is impossible Gertrude, I am a veteran pilot and I make mistakes" Gerhard said, "However this time this is not the case"

"It's not your fault" Mio said.

"What?" Gertrude asked.

"As Mio said, it is not your fault" Sakai said. Mio nodded before standing up.

"Most likely, the problem lies in the jet striker" Mio said.

"I can't tell for sure, but it's possible it burns through a considerable amount of magic" Minna said.

"This reminds me of the Me-262" Gerhard said.

"Why is that?" Gregory asked.

"The Messerschmitt Me-262 when it first came around it was never among the most fuel efficient aircraft, well what to expect? It was a brand new technology so the main focus was to make it work first, fuel efficiency was a second problem" Gerhard said.

"Prototypes and problems go hand in hand" Gertrude said, "But that striker is amazing; if we want to see it in actual combat, I must continue to test it"

"No" Minna held, "I won't let you risk more bodily injury, Captain Barkhorn, in addition to being restricted from flying, I am ordering you confined to your room"

"Minna!" Gertrude tried to get up but Gerhard placed his hand on her shoulder.

"That's an order" Minna reiterated.

"It is not worth it, Gertrude, it is best you rest" Gerhard said.

"It is for your own good, Gertrude, you are in no condition to fight" Katherine said.

"Da, I agree, if we were to have you doing your duties, you might pass out and it might cause an accident" Katherov said.

"Sorry but I don't think you can even be a gunner" Wolf said.

"Understood" Gertrude said as she lied down again. Minna then stood up.

"Use of the jet striker is disallowed, effective immediately" Minna said.

"Also no one is to tamper with the strikers! They are to remain as they are no buts!" Wolf ordered.

The next day

Gertrude and Erica's room

Gerhard's POV

I was told to guard Gertrude and Erica's room to make sure Gertrude would try anything funny. I was given a Gewehr 43 and I stood outside of their room. I could hear Gertrude doing pull ups from the sounds of her breaths. It was in a rhythmic beat. Then a new noise came, it was Lynette and Yoshika and they were bringing breakfast for Gertrude.

"U-Um…Barkhorn" Yoshika stammered.

"What are you doing?" Lynette asked.

"I am training" Gertrude said as she continued with her pull ups, "I didn't crashed because… of the jet striker"

"Funny, first time I heard the carpenter blame herself" I said aloud.

"You know it is true that it was because I wasn't…strong enough…" Gertrude said.

"Gertrude, the jet striker is too much of a fuel…I mean magic guzzler for any average witch" I said.

"Huh? You still plan to use it?" Yoshika exclaimed.

"Of course, if I can master it, I can turn the whole tide of this war" Gertrude said.

"That sounds like a certain Führer I knew who ordered creation of Wunderwaffe so we could turn the tide of war" I said. Shirley and Chuck arrived and I let them pass. They heard the conversation.

"It's impossible. Give up on it" Shirley said as she entered the room.

"I would agree with Shirley if I were you" Chuck said.

"Shirley! Chuck!" Yoshika said.

"Did you come to laugh at me, Liberion?" Gertrude asked.

"Ahem" Chuck cleared his throat.

"And American" Gertrude added, "Crashing because I ran out of magic… You'd think I was a private"

"Now why would I think just because you screwed up like that, automatically I will think of you as a private?" Chuck asked.

"Listen to the Colonel, that striker is way too dangerous" Shirley said, "Next time; you won't just lose the ability to fly"

"I know you understand the military applications of the jet striker" Gertrude said, "It's worth the risk"

"So you don't care if you die?" Shirley raised her voice.

"Huh?!" Yoshika and Lynette gasped.

"That was a bit too steep but still the question stands, do you actually care if you are deemed unfit for military service" Chuck said.

"I must become stronger" Gertrude ignored Chuck and Shirley's questions.

"You fool!" Shirley barked.

*SIREN BLARES*

"Ah, a neuroi" Erica said lazily as she got up from her sea of junk.

"Hartmann" Lynette said.

"So she was in her room" I said.

"Were you here the whole time?" Yoshika asked.

"Yeah" Erica answered, "I'm going on ahead"

"Knock them dead" Chuck said.

"Good luck Erica" I said as she ran past me then followed by Shirley and Chuck.

"Aren't you coming?" Chuck asked.

"Someone has to make sure someone doesn't get out" I answered.

"Shirley, wait!" Yoshika said as she and Lynette left the room as well.

"Yoshika! We were ordered to stay in here, on standby" Lynette shouted as she ran after Yoshika. I then noticed that Gertrude had stopped doing her pull ups. I then heard her feet hit the ground. Then I saw Erica run back into the room

"An opening!" Erica said after entering.

"HUWAAH!" Gertrude yelped from Erica's sudden announcement.

"You forgot something!" Erica said as she ran out of the room with her arms out like a plane. She then ran down the hallway.

"A transponder" Gertrude said.

"So have you given what Charlotte and Charles said enough thought?" I asked.

Meanwhile in the air

Chuck's POV

I was in the air again and this time it was for combat. I was in the air with Mio, Shirley, Erica, Perrine and Francesca as the witches while for pilots, it was Erich, Sakai, Pierre and Franco

"It's heading due south, toward Rome" Minna said over the radio.

"Roger, we will take out the target" Erich replied.

"From the radio, it looks quite big so be careful" Wolf said.

"Hai Colonel, we will proceed with caution" Mio said.

"However, it's continuing to accelerate" Minna added, "I'm altering the rendezvous point, head close to…"

"Unnecessary, we've got visual" Mio said.

"Take it out then" Wolf said.

"Hölle, it looks like a rocket" Erich said.

"That is one big rocket" I said. Suddenly it broke into five pieces.

"It split apart?" Minna said over the radio.

"So, it plans to overwhelm us with numbers" Mio said.

"Ten on five… Looks like a one sided battle" Erica said.

"Still this is neuroi we are talking about here" Erich said.

"Everyone, spread out and destroy your targets" Mio ordered.

"Aces, I want you to accompany your witches counterpart! Watch their six!" Erich ordered.

"Do not let them past us!" Mio barked.

"Roger!" We all shouted. I followed Shirley to chase one of the neuroi rockets.

"Shirley!" Mio came up to Shirley.

"What is it, Commander?" Shirley asked.

"The core's inside the middle one, its' fast, I'm counting on you" Mio said.

"Roger!" Shirley smiled. Mio then flew to my plane.

"Chuck, I want you to support Shirley" Mio said.

"Roger, Commander! I will take care of Shirley" I smiled. Shirley and I flew in formation while I observed Franco and Francesca attack a neuroi rocket from the back and front. While Erich chased another one while Erica fired at it from the side.

"There!" Shirley shouted as she climbed up to chase the centre rocket.

"Right behind up" I radioed as I also climbed up to support Shirley.

"You ain't getting away!" Shirley shouted as she chased the neuroi. We then opened fired on the neuroi when it came to range. Shirley pressed her finger down on the trigger while I fired in bursts but our shots all missed as the neuroi was moving erratically.

"For fuck's sake, stay still!" I swore. Suddenly it dived down.

"What?" Shirley exclaimed. The neuroi then turned around and speed towards us. I climbed up and then pointed my nose down.

"Oh, you wanna do this?" Shirley asked.

"I am in position" I radioed.

"Prepared to get destroyed" Shirley shouted as we both dived and fired our guns at the neuroi but the sly bastard kept getting away.

"God damn it!" I cursed.

"Stay still" Shirley grunted, "Damn it"

"Sakamoto, Shirley has her hands full and we have no one to spare, we need emergency back up!" Mio radioed.

"Roger that" Minna said.

"Lynette! Arthur! Yoshika! Muto! Amirah! Amirul!" Minna barked.

"Yes, ma'am!" I heard their voices over the radio. Later I heard Minna but she said something I did not expect.

"Trude!" Minna barked.

"I'm sorry, Minna; I'll take my punishment later" Gertrude said, "But now I must…"

"Hey you won't go alone!" I heard Gerhard's voice.

"Gerd, what are you doing?" Wolf asked.

"This is Gerhard, sorry Colonels but I failed to make sure Gertrude stays in her room so you can punishment the both of us together" Gerhard said.

"Five minutes" Minna said, "You have five minutes of flight!"

"Five minutes is plenty" Gertrude barked.

"Remember! I am right behind you" Gerhard said as his jet raced behind Gertrude.

"Damn it!" I cursed as I tried to shoot down the damn neuroi.

"There!" Shirley shouted as she tried to fired, "It jammed?!"

"Hell" I said, "That is bad"

"It split again?" Shirley said.

"Aww, you got to be kidding me!" I grumbled as I chased one of them. Then it came to a level flight and I was about to fire the guns when I realized that Shirley was in between both of them, "Shirley! Look out!

"Crap! I am in between!" Shirley said.

*BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*

"That sounds like cannon fire" I said. Then the neuroi directly behind Shirley bent into painful shapes before exploding into a cloud of white fragments.

"Huh?" Shirley gasped as she flew away from the cloud.

"Damn! That would have hurt" I winced.

"Barkhorn!" Shirley said.

"Gerhard?" I said.

"Who else?" Gerhard said as he and Gertrude fired their cannons. The neuroi that was between me and Shirley then exploded and then the core flew up and a shot from Gertrude's 50 mil.

"Incredible" Shirley gawked.

"Impressive" I said.

"But use of the jet striker was disallowed" Perrine said.

"Did we miss something?" Pierre asked.

"Barkhorn… that crazy woman" Mio said.

"I second that" Sakai stated.

"Hehehe" Erica giggled.

"You did it, Barkhorn!" Shirley radioed, "Barkhorn, do you copy?"

"Answer the call, Gertrude" I said.

"What is going on? Barkhorn isn't slowing down" Shirley radioed.

"Scheiße! Mayday! Mayday! Barkhorn is out! I repeat Barkhorn is out!" Gerhard frantically radioed.

"This is bad!" Mio barked, "The jet striker is out of control! She is going to have all of her magic sucked right out of her"

"Damn it!" I cursed.

"Gerhard! Chase Gertrude down" Erich ordered.

"I can't! My engines have overheated! I can't stress them too much or they will blow" Gerhard replied.

"Verdammt" Erich cursed.

"Shirley! Chuck!" Minna barked.

"Got it!" Shirley hollered.

"On my way!" I shouted. We both began to chase after Gertrude but the distance was too far. Then I had a plan.

"Shirley! Grab onto my plane's wing!" I shouted.

"What? Why?" Shirley shouted.

"Just do it!" I barked. Shirley then manoeuvred over my Mustang and latched on.

"I am on" Shirley said.

"Alright, when I say let go, let go!" I said.

"Got it" Shirley said doubtfully.

"Alright! Give me all you got girl!" I shouted as I pulled the stick into my gut. I heard the Packard V12 supercharged engine roar louder.

"Damn hear that engine roar" Shirley said through the radio

"Still not enough, time for some extra power" I said as I activated my magic and soon my plane speed up even faster. It was soon reaching 850 km/h.

"OK! LET GO!" I shouted.

"Got it!" Shirley let go of my plane's wing as I slowed down. She zipped off my wing like a rocket. I saw her hand outstretched trying to get to Gertrude but Gertrude began to speed away.

"You stupid idiot" Shirley shouted and I saw the exhaust on her striker spout out fire and I saw her accelerate even faster. Then a white cone like cloud appeared behind her for just a few seconds. There was also a massive boom that came with it.

"What was that sound?" Yoshika asked.

"She broke the sound barrier, hot damn" I said as I saw her catch up and grabbed Gertrude. I then flew in behind her and Gertrude at a lower altitude.

"Stop!" Shirley shouted as she pulled a cord which killed the jet striker engines. The jet strikers soon came off and they began plummeting towards my plane. I tried to dodge but the strikers struck my wings and stuck on…

"Well this was unexpected" I said. I then began circling around Shirley and Gertrude. I looked to Shirley who had a big sigh of relief. She then looked down to Gertrude who I saw was burying her head into Shirley's chest.

"HEY!" Francesca shouted, "Those belong to me! Me!"

"Calm down, Francesca and be a nice girl and share" Franco said.

"But those are mine" Francesca said.

Later that day

Erich's POV

We were gathered in the hangar. I saw Chuck completely asleep at a table as I looked at the Me-262 which we somehow managed to rescue from falling into the sea. The only damage was to the inner wings where they hit Chuck's wings. Surprisingly the wings on Chuck's P-51 were undamaged from the collision. Meanwhile Eila, Sanya, Eino and Lydia were standing over the Me-262 V1 strikers, looking at the damage.

"What the heck happened while we were sleeping?" Eila asked.

"This apparently" Eino said.

"I am surprised they are relatively in good shape" Lydia said.

"It is barely scratched" Sanya said softly.

"Sheesh, that striker was such a troublemaker" Perrine said.

"Well, it is a prototype" Pierre said.

"Yeah, and so is the person who used it" Minna said.

"Well same can't be said to her counterpart, he still is no better" Wolf said. I just smiled as I watched Gertrude and Gerhard busy peeling potatoes while Shirley and Chuck sat and sleep at a table near them respectively.

"But thanks to them, we defeated the neuroi, so go easy on her" Shirley said.

"A rule is a rule!" Minna said.

"But it is the first time Barkhorn's ever disobeyed an order, right?" Mio said.

"And if I am not mistaken the first offence is usually given a light sentence unless that first offence is a severe one than that is a different matter" I said.

"Come on Minna, let the two off, they did save Rome" Katherine said.

"I agree with Katherine, they might have disobeyed the rules but it was for a good cause" Katherov said.

"Everyone, sorry for this whole ordeal" Erica said.

'Wait that is not Erica, she is over there, looking at my Bf 109, so who is this' I thought.

"Why are you apologizing?" Mio asked.

"It is not your fault, Hartmann" Shirley said.

"No, I…" The Erica lookalike said but Yoshika and Lynette accidentally interrupted.

"Hey, guys! Are you hungry?" Lynette said.

"A big shipment of potatoes came in, so we made a bunch of food" Yoshika said.

"There so much potatoes that we didn't know what to do with" Arthur said.

"Personally I have never seen this much potatoes" Muto said.

"Try it, Hartmann" Yoshika offered some fried potato to the Erica lookalike.

"Thank you very much" the Erica lookalike said.

"Huh? Did you always wear glasses?" Yoshika asked.

"Yes, I always have" She answered. Just then the real Erica came and pressed against Yoshika's back

"Wow, it looks delicious" Erica said.

"Huh?" Lynette uttered. Yoshika turned around to face Erica.

"Oh, you try some too, Hartmann 2#" Yoshika said without missing a beat, "Huh?"

Everyone turned to see the two Hartmanns well everyone except for Chuck who was still asleep.

"Well this is interesting" Sakai said.

"Well, you don't see this everyday" Georgina said.

"True" Gregory said.

"It's been a while, sister" the Erica lookalike said.

"Oh, is that you, Ursula" Erica said. I just stood there still as I tried to comprehend what Erica just said.

"Sister" I and the rest exclaimed.

"This is First Lieutenant Ursula Hartmann" Minna introduced, "She is Captain Erica Hartmann's twin sister"

"Twin sister" Everyone but Minna and I said.

"She's one of the staff members on the jet striker project" Minna said.

"Wait does that Erich's…" Franz said but didn't finish. I could feel the gazes of all the Germans in the room looking at me. I glanced around and saw their worried or troubled faces.

"What seems to be the matter? Why are you all looking at Erich?" Katherine asked.

"It is…" Gerhard said

"Because…" Wolf continued.

"My nephew, Erich's" Rommel added

"Wife is" Marcus said.

"Is what?" Reina asked.

"My wife is named Ursula, Ursula Hartmann" I said. The witches just stood there while the other aces just went slack jawed or wide eyed.

"So that means those witches who have sisters in our world, in your world are either siblings or a married couple?" Dimitri said.

"It seems so as Lydia and I are siblings" Katherov said.

"And so are we" Katherine said.

"Well, there is nothing I can do much so I am just going to go with it" I said.

"Major Barkhorn, I sincerely apologize for the trouble you experienced" Ursula said, "It appears the jet strikers possessed a fatal flaw"

"Well, prototypes and problems go hand in hand" Gertrude said, "Don't worry about it"

"It is a new technology, there is bound to be issues and problems" Gerhard said.

"And I must apologize for damaging it" Gertrude said.

"It's okay, all that matters is that you're safe" Ursula said, "I will take it back to Neue Karlsland"

"You came all the way here to do that?" Shirley asked.

"Yes, and though I doubt it makes up for it, I brought a shipment of potatoes as a token of my apology" Ursula said.

"Th-That many again?" Perrine deadpanned.

"Well think about it this way, these potatoes will help keep us fit and healthy which a fine lady like you will need to be in order to fight this war" Pierre said.

"If you say so" Perrine said. Then I watched Gertrude and Shirley grab the same piece of fried potato.

"That's my fried potato!" Gertrude barked.

"Didn't you say you didn't want any Liberion food?" Shirley said.

"Yes, but now I need energy to help my body fully recover!" Gertrude barked.

"Admit that they're delicious" Shirley dared.

"They are alright" Gertrude said.

"I said; say they're "delicious" not "alright"!" Shirley argued.

"Oh there they go again" Muto sighed.

"I made enough for everyone… Why are they fighting over it?" Yoshika asked.

"It's fine; let them argue" Erica said, "Leave them alone"

"I am more curious how they haven't woken up Chuck" Wolf said.

"Those will never change huh?" Katherine sighed.

"Well, it just show that they are good friends in one way" Katherov said.

"This reminds how we fight for some snacks right Sakai?" Hiroyoshi smiled.

"Yes and you still owe that rice ball" Sakai said.

We soon watched Ursula depart with the jet strikers. Soon after Chuck finally woke up to see Gertrude and Shirley still fighting that one piece of potato so he just tore it into two and went on to eat the fries in the bowl with Gertrude and Shirley just staring at him with disbelief. We just laughed at the situation. I then decided to begin to write a journal as my uncle and Gregory have decided to do so with the latter being the first. Rommel is now the base commander of Pescara Air Base which Minna happily agreed to as it meant less paperwork and stress. Now what are we going to with all of these potatoes.
