Disclaimer: I don't own YYH or the characters. Just my OC
Well, I certainly hadn't planned on taking this long to update, but I guess that's what happens when you let your imagination run wild and end up with 25 stories, one which I thankfully just completed yesterday. Phew, 24 to go. Anyways, again, this is technically a late birthday gift/Christmas gift to dragoscilvio. Sorry I kept you waiting. You know how things are XD
Koenma was surprised when the boys showed up with the leader and all of the demons tied up. He had expected them to keep the leader alive as he had wanted, but was surprised that even Hiei didn't think to kill the lower level demons. Before he could ask, Yusuke spoke up to explain.
"They were already tied up when we got there."
The Spirit World prince's eyes nearly bugged out of his head. No one had been investigating this underground trafficking ring. It had only been brought to his attention by one of the ogres. As soon as he heard, he had contacted Yusuke. How, then, could anyone else have beaten his team to the apprehension? He was silently grateful, but he didn't know what to make of it.
"Then I guess we're done here," he said in awe. "I'll let you know if I find anything else out."
The former spirit detectives nodded. They didn't know what to make of it either.
After they left and the criminals were taken to a cell, Koenma called Botan into his office. She found him deep in thought, starring at his desk. "Koenma, sir?" she called out questioningly. "Is something wrong?"
Koenma shook his head in frustration. "I don't know, Botan," he said in exhaustion. "I think I'm getting to old for this."
Botan's brow quirked at her toddler boss. "Too old for what, sir?"
He looked up at her, a serious expression on his child-like face. "I need you to look into something for me," he told her. "People's lives could depend on it."
Somewhere in the city, a girl was in a café with a cup of green tea and an anthropology textbook. Reading her latest assignment, the girl absentminded sipped her tea. She hadn't been paying attention to the time, but a friend of hers who worked there got her attention.
"Yo, Kiko!" the guy at the counter called. "Don't you have that concert to get to?"
The girl, Kiko, or Tsukiko to be more precise, looked up from her textbook before taking out her phone to check the time. "Oh right!" she exclaimed before closing her textbook and grabbing her tea. "Thanks."
Tsukiko, age twenty-four, was on her way to perform in a concert. The girl loved to sing. It was something she could do freely to express herself. It was God's gift to her, especially when she could use it in many ways to help others. Who wouldn't be thankful for that?
On her way to the concert hall, she sensed something. It was no secret that she could tell when there was malicious intent out there. Tsukiko froze momentarily to see if she could tell where the intent was coming from. When she had no success, she committed the location to memory. It was something she'd have to investigate later in the cover of night.
Botan searched the city, trying to find any strong energies she could besides the boys' energies. Koenma seemed really concerned about some random person or demon taking down a pretty high level demon. Sure, the demon was no match for his team, but to other individuals, low A class wasn't something to easily conquer. No one had sensed any other high energy among the human city, but something had to be up. Perhaps the person was guarding themselves, but even then there should have been some record. When the demons attacked were questioned, they only gave them one thing to go on.
It was a girl, and she hadn't even attacked.
Normally demons, prideful as some were, would be loath to admit that. Admitting weakness was not something many of them did. Of course, it was possible that the demons wanted this girl taken down as well. Maybe they thought she was a threat to Spirit World that they would deal with. Whatever the reason, they had at least narrowed the person to be female. That still didn't help them.
Out of nowhere, Botan was able to see the shockwaves of demon energy near the river. Gasping, she headed back through a portal to alert Koenma.
Koenma had already known about the energy and had already ordered Yusuke to check it out. Yusuke, though not one for authority, was still shocked from the previous day and didn't question being sent on another Spirit World errand.
They got there too late once more, but this time there was something even stranger than another high level demon causing trouble in their town.
A young girl, human by energy and smell, was tying a scary looking demon that looked like a three headed dog-dragon in a giant pink ribbon. The demon wasn't fighting back, simply looking like an obedient dog. The girl stopped and looked over to the four boys before smiling.
"He's all yours," she said to them as if she knew who they were.
"Wha-" Yusuke began to say before clamping his mouth shut. He couldn't even think of words to describe what he was seeing.
Kuwabara picked up where he left off. "What are you?" he asked the girl, dazed at the fact that she was handling the demon so easily.
"Um, I'm a girl silly," Tsukiko retorted. "Anyway, you boys can take it from here. I have a test tomorrow."
Before she could leave, Hiei was in front of her and ready to attack. "If you know what's good for you, human, then you will tell us what you did to that demon."
"Sorry, but that's my secret," the girl replied.
"You're responsible for what happened with the trafficking ring too, aren't you?" Kurama deduced.
Tsukiko chuckled slightly. "Didn't do a good job of covering my tracks, huh? Well, that's okay. I'm sure we'll see each other again."
And with that, the girl was gone before any of them could ask her name. At least now, though, they had a description to go by.
"Koenma is going to have a field day with this one."
