"You want this?"
Tsukiko looked at the delectable morsel of chocolatey and fruity goodness being held up by her friend. "Eiko…" the girl whined, "that's not fair."
"What's not fair is showing up on a night where you're supposed to be studying to find the place empty without even a note," Eiko replied stoically. "So, I say again, 'you have some explaining to do.' Only then, will you get the plate of strawberries."
"Plate?" Tsukiko eeped. Well…the "spirit detectives" didn't say anything about keeping the secret from her best friend, right?
"So let me get this straight," Eiko stated as she watched her friend devour a whole mess of chocolate covered strawberries in a few bites, watching her friend enjoying the spoils of her bribery. "Those guys you've been stalking."
"Helping," Tsukiko corrected with a full mouth.
"Stalking," Eiko shot back. "They finally caught up with you and now they're just going to let you keep stalking-"
"Helping," the other chimed happily.
"Stalking them. And you let one of the demons you've been stalking-"
"Helping."
"Stalking. You just let him take you on a train to the middle of nowhere to talk to the whole group in a creepy forest filled with demons. And you're okay with this."
"Yup!" Tsukiko beamed as she finished off the strawberries and licked the remaining bits of chocolate off of the plate before tossing it to the other side of her room. "Man, that was good. So, where were we? Oh, right. So, I guess they have to talk to someone else about me helping-"
"Stalking," Eiko stated wryly.
"Helping," Tsukiko pressed. "And once they hear back, I'll hear from them again."
"So…you stalked them and now they're stalking you," Eiko solidified. "That sounds so completely safe. Maybe I should stalk some people, too."
"Hel-ping," Tsukiko emphasized. "What do you take me for? At least I'm not the one studying medicine to-"
"Because dealing with the supernatural has anything to do with that." Eiko crossed her arms and pouted slightly before regaining her composure. "Still, are you sure this is what you want? Those demons that came after you…just, are you sure they're nothing like them?"
Tsukiko flashed a reassuring smile to her friend. "They're definitely not like them and, even if they were, I would be safe. You and I both know I can handle myself. I won't get myself into something I can't get out of."
"Well, of course you won't," Eiko responded, "because I won't let you. I want in, if only to make sure you don't have another of your…episodes."
"I don't have episodes!" Tsukiko argued before she turned on the news and listened to the female broadcaster. "Oh my gosh! Listen to her talk about the weather with such an upbeat tone because of how sunny it is," she said hurriedly before it switched back to the regular broadcaster, "and that guy must be really happy about something and-"
"Right, no episodes," Eiko said monotonously as she turned the television off. "What have I said about watching the news? Too many people are talking at one time and you can't analyze all of them at the same time."
Tsukiko grinned apologetically to her friend. "I forgot it was on the news channel. I was channel surfing. Another program had a lot going on, too, so I was trying to get off of it."
"Just focus on that one person at a time thing," Eiko reminded her. "I don't have any more you know what to retake your focus. We're going to need to find an alternative to that when we run out."
"Is your computer on?" Tsukiko asked as she saw the laptop on her desk. "How did I not notice that?"
"Because you were enjoying the spoils," Eiko teased, "all…over…the floor."
Tsukiko looked around her room and saw stems and strawberry leaves. "Um…maybe we should clean that up, first."
"Whatever you say."
"Are you sure we should be here right now?" Kuwabara asked nervously. "I mean, we don't even know if she's awake. It is like eleven o'clock at night."
Hiei scoffed. "If this idiot wants to be involved, she needs to get used to the hours."
"Still, Kurama, do you even know which apartment is hers?" Yusuke questioned, kind of not wanting to go in there. He knew nothing of this girl, including what tantrums she might throw from having her beauty sleep disrupted.
Instantly, Hiei was up in the tree and then at a window. As he entered the apartment, loud screams can be heard from down below and pillowed objects started flying from the room followed by some socks and a bra before finally Hiei came flying down after a shoe hit him. It wasn't pretty.
"What just happened?" Yusuke questioned awkwardly.
Well…
The girls had decided to watch a scary movie together after everything was all said and done. "What kind of hospital thinks it's a good idea to store their supplies in a morgue?" Eiko ridiculed as she munched on some more popcorn careful not to lose any pieces.
Tsukiko chuckled. She had gotten her friend back for exploiting her weakness by giving her her own, movie theater popcorn. "Why not? People would be less inclined to go in there and take them. It's not like anyone goes down there much anyway. Perfect hiding place!"
Eiko deadpanned at Tsukiko's cheerful reaction. "Um, that's kind of the point," she answered while unconsciously scooting closer to her friend.
Creepier things started happening in the movie. Supplies were disappearing although no one entered the room. Those who went down there came back as pale as anything, though they couldn't see that they were pale. Some of the lab technicians and interns sent to get the supplies started disappearing and no one could figure out why.
"They're probably just so freaked out that they decided to run away," Eiko muttered while repositioning herself a little bit towards Tsukiko.
Her statement made Tsukiko laugh. "Yeah, and maybe they're stealing supplies too." Though she knew that in a horror movie, things weren't that logical. She moved slightly off the couch to get her tea and then sat back down ending up right next to Eiko. They exchanged nervous smiles before an intern walked into the morgue after the lab technician told him not to go in alone and then ran away. The intern just shrugged at the lab technician's behavior, walked in, and then got attacked by a shadow of a body. On the wall of the morgue, they saw the shadow of the boy being eaten by another body as some realistic looking blood splattered and the intern screamed for help. Both their eyebrows twitched before they both got up to reach for their drinks.
"Who told you to watch this movie?" Tsukiko asked warily.
Eiko shrugged. "Just some people in my biology class. They said it's like some cult movie for the pre-med students at the campus."
Tsukiko couldn't help but chuckle. "They must not know you don't handle the scary and gruesome well. It is just a movie."
At the sound of a bloodcurdling scream, Tsukiko's window was forced open while a dark and scary figure entered the apartment. Both Eiko and Tsukiko screamed in sync with the movie character and began to throw whatever objects they could find on the floor of Tsukiko's studio apartment. Nothing seemed to be hitting their target, but finally Eiko decided to take her sneaker off of her foot and tossed it directly into the face of the monster that attacked them.
The force took the "monster" by surprise, and it was launched back outside. Both Eiko and Tsukiko looked out the window and saw the four boys in the lamplight. "Oops," Eiko murmured. "I take it those are your stalkees turned stalkers."
"The word 'help' is once again lost in translation," Tsukiko sighed. "Yup, that's them. He had really bad timing."
"Maybe we should go down there and invite them up before they try to send another person through the window…"
Tsukiko nodded in response and got her shoes on. She looked to her friend's foot and said, "Yeah, we need to get your shoe back and all of my stuff and clothes."
"Yeah, pretty sure you threw your bra out there…" Eiko deadpanned. "But seriously, I didn't think you were the type to throw your unmentionables at the boys."
Tsukiko opened her mouth to retort, but she couldn't even form the words as Eiko began pushing her towards the door. "Let's just go talk to the boys you 'help,'" she jeered sarcastically. "There, was that lost in translation."
"Yes," Tsukiko huffed. "Yes, it was."
"Hahahahaha!"
"Oh my gosh, that's amazing! Hahahahaha!"
Kurama sweat-dropped after Hiei had explained what had just occurred in the apartment. Yusuke was already rolling on the floor laughing while Kuwabara joined in. Hiei was infuriated by both the girls and now his teammates. "I'm going to kill them."
"That would violate both Spirit World law and now Demon World, I'm afraid," Kurama articulated to the fire demon. "We'll-"
"Hey, guys!" Tsukiko called from the front door of the building. All four boys looked to her. "Um, sorry about that. We were watching a really creepy movie in the dark… Probably a bad call. You can come in if you want."
"Yup…" Eiko replied from behind Tsukiko. "Invite the stalkee stalkers in. That's so much better than the movie we were just watching."
"Sadly, she's not wrong," Yusuke joked as he picked himself off the ground.
"Let's just go," Hiei grunted as he stormed past the detective.
"Hm, well someone's moody," Tsukiko pondered.
Eiko nodded in agreement. "You would be, too, if you were knocked out of a seventh story window…"
