Tam put his arm around Byt, who couldn't stop the tears from falling. He knew she'd been wanting to track information about her family, from the old Alchemist Guild members. Not just the Guild had been destroyed, but her history too.
"Did you grow up here? How did you get to Braavos?" Tam asked quietly.
"No, my mom had me there, not here. But she died when I was small."
"Who taught you then? Even Aulix acknowledges that you're better than him at potions, elixirs, poisons and alchemy."
That made the tears stop and a smile come out. "He doesn't usually let on that someone is better at something, compared to him. I learned from an exiled member of the Alchemist Guild, who had come to Braavos due to running for his life. I tried to find out about my family's history, but he never said anything. Aulix was the one who told me that my natural talent was due to Alchemy being in my blood."
"Did Taron learn from him or you?"
"Aulix…. But Taron recruited me to our Street Guild, because Aulix had told him to. They tried to find out more for me, but it was a dead end. Aulix said I'd have to go to King's Landing to find anything out."
"There might be someone on the street or close to that district that might know something. After we do our job, I'll help you find answers." Tam gave her a kiss of reassurance.
Byt returned it warmly. "Thanks, but you're right we have an important job to do and that comes first."
As they made their way down Muddy Way, the rumbling of discontent with the Lannisters became more vocal. Without even asking, they learned what had happened and whom had died in the Great Sept. The Alchemist Guildhall, although located at the bottom of the hill, was connected by underground tunnels to where the barrels of Wild Fire had been kept. These tunnels also lead under the Sept. Once ignited, no one had a chance to escape.
Using the talents they'd learned from Taron and Aulix, both Tam and Byt found out that even though the Alchemist Guild was gone, not all the families involved with it, had lived in the district. That gave them hope, but caution was needed because Cobbler's Square was west of the barracks of the City Watch of King's Landing. It was southeast from the Gate of the Gods and north of Visenya's Hill. Cobbler's Square was a craft area. They sold their horses to get some coin. After that, Tam saw a pick-pocket kid at work and followed. If there was a street gang, it would give them access to the city in a way they were use to. Cutting down an alley off Hook street, they tracked the child and were rewarded for their effort.
"Why are you following the kid?" A young rough looking guy asked, blocking their way.
"We're looking for the guy who runs your gang," Byt answered.
"Who are you?"
"You don't need to know. Take us to your leader," she replied, but without hostility.
Tam gave him some coin and that convinced the guy to take them where and to whom they asked. But as expected, they were lead to an area, where others surrounded them. The gang didn't expect that Byt could kick their asses, just as well as Tam. Once the attackers were all groaning on the ground, then their leader made an appearance.
"What do you want?"
Byt answered, "that depends on if your boys are done with the games."
"Who are you?"
"We're from a street gang in Braavos," Tam explained and repeated the hand shake and fist bump he'd seen his attackers use.
"Is there somewhere we can talk, without so many ears listening?" Byt pointedly looked at a man carrying a circle of cheese.
The leader of the gang, took them to a run down house. He had his followers keep watch outside. Then gave the nod that it was safe to talk. Using her skill of getting information, Byt found out that this gang had lost some family members both during the time King Joffery reined and at the Sept explosion. They hated anyone associated with the Lannister name and all of that bloodline. Anytime they could cause trouble for the Lannisters, was a good time. Their original leader had been caught in the blast from the Wild Fire and the guy now in charge, had been an enforcer.
"Is there any kind of street Alchemy going on?" Tam asked.
"We can take you to the gang that runs the district of Visenya's Hill and we've got a contact for the smaller gang of Cobbler's Square. They'd know more about that stuff."
"Any rebellion brewing against the crown?" Byt wondered.
"Always. But no one leads it, so nothin' really happens that works. People's still shocked about the Sept."
"Is there a cheap place for us to get a room for a few days?"
"Yeah, Tim can take you there."
"How many in your gang?"
"Ten. Why?"
"We'll buy you guys some sausages, cheese, bread and cider. Unless you just want some coin to do it yourselves. We appreciate the help and info."
"Seriously, the food would be great. I'll go with you too."
The leader and Tim, went with Tam and Byt to the food market stalls. Byt did all the negotiations, amazing the guys at how cheap she got the food and the amount received at the reduced price. Then leaving the leader to go to his gang, they followed Tim.
"Ya got two choices; the brothel or a rowdy tavern."
"You decide Byt, because I can sleep through anything." Tam chuckled and then awaited her decision.
"Brothel, I don't want to deal with drunk assholes."
"Are you his girl?" Tim asked, laying on the charm.
"She is, but does what she wants."
"Beautiful, smart, a fighter and a shrewd haggler… damn, you're a lucky guy."
Byt kissed Tim, who was younger than both Tam and herself. He blushed. "You're sweet. Want us to get you a girl, while you're here?"
The guy looked from her to Tam and then back again. "Seriously?"
"Sure."
"Hell yes, the guys will be so jealous!"
"Treat her right. Wait in our room with Tam and I'll have her take you from there." Byt left to buy Tim a lay and his future loyalty.
"We'll find you in the morning, unless you want to just come here, or send someone who will introduce us to the other gangs."
"I'll come," Tim smirked. "Thanks, 'night!" He let the whore lead him away.
Once alone, Tam put his arms around Byt. "You were amazing today, so strong."
"Only because you're by my side… I love you Tam," Byt blurted her confession.
"I have loved you since the day you reset my shoulder, after I fell off the roof."
She laughed. "Why then?"
"Because you were all business, but sweet too. I know that Aulix will always be part of your heart, but then, he is in mine too."
Byt gave him a kiss that lingered even after her lips were removed. "I'm a better kisser than him, right?"
Tam chuckled, but didn't answer. Instead he began taking off her clothes. She did the same for him. Once they were naked, he took a blanket from his pack and lay it on the bed. Picking her up, Tam carried Byt and lay her down on the blanket. His mouth descended on hers, hands caressing, while exploring. Hers began to stroke his fire, but he moved out of reach and went with tongue to tickle the button that made her louder than any other woman in that brothel. After Byt's hips began to buck and spasm in the throws of orgasm, he returned his lips to hers.
"I don't know why, but you always taste like apples to me." Tam mumbled against her mouth.
"That's a secret I'll never tell to a man," she giggled girlishly.
Her hand slithered down his chest, over the tight abs and wrapped around his shaft, which already stood at attention. Pushing him onto his back, Byt's mouth and tongue danced their way down, until he was engulfed by their warmth and wetness. Her head moved rhythmically up and down, lips over her teeth and pressed tightly on him, with every down sweep. He groaned and couldn't help moving his hips to meet her mouth, but he had trained himself not to give in to that pleasure. Tam lifted her face off of his manhood and then moved so initially he was on top. It wasn't long before Byt took control and began to do the mating bounce. Her hips set the tempo and then with a thrusting rotation, Tam pushed them over the cliff of ecstasy. Flopping onto his back, his breathing was harsh, but he made sure Byt was satisfied for a few minutes too.
"I needed that stress relief. Tomorrow we can't stop until we've done what Aulix requested." Byt sighed happily.
"Right… but tonight is ours….. If we make it out alive and things settle down a little, do you want to marry me?" Tam asked, unsure of her answer and if his timing was good.
"Yes, I'd like that very much. We'd be the first of our Guild to do that too."
"Finally a first we both share!"
They laughed together and then began round two. Both knew they needed to get sleep and so making love was ended after the second time through. Their actions from that point forward, would be part of moulding the future.
