Maria was grateful to arrive home that day. New people were horrible for her, and she really didn't like the fact that Amethyst was basically attached to her hip after the little sleep over incident. Part of her wished there was some way to get her uncle into the same situation. The odd thing was, her uncle was running about frantically, grabbing things and cleaning up.

"What's going on?" she asked.

"Maria! Great, grab the broom and- wait no! There's no time for that, it's not like he would care anyway," Monroe said, moving about the room.

"Who? Is someone coming over?"

"No- Well, sort of. You see, there's this old friend of mine named Hap. He just called and said he needed someone to crash with so I'm about to go pick him up from the police station," Monroe said, grabbing a box of decorative plates that had been hanging on the walls earlier and leaving the room.

"The police station?" Maria asked with wide eyes as she followed him.

"Yea, well, he's not arrested. His house just blew up."

"You mean that house that was on the news yesterday?"

"Yea, that one. Here," he said, hastily handing her the box "take this up to your room and hide it somewhere even I can't find it, be careful."

"Uh, sure," she answered as he ran off.

She carried the box up stairs, taking some time to look inside of it. It appeared to be almost every breakable knickknack, piece of china, picture, and glass figurine in the house. Even the few along the stair case were gone. As she slid the box under the bed, the thought finally popped into her head that she may have gotten her wish.

As they walked through the halls, being led by an officer, Maria thought about what kind of man Hap would be. When she wasn't paying attention, they'd walked into a large room where Nick and another man were sitting at two desks.

"Hey! My main man Monroe! I knew he wouldn't bail on me! Buddy!" a large man said, picking her uncle right off of the ground.

"Don't we know those two?" an officer asked Nick off to the side.

"Yea, those are the two I thought were involved in the kidnapping," Nick responded

"Oh yea the clock guy, and that's his friend?" the officer continued.

"I guess so," was all Nick had.

"You want me to take this?"

"No, no Hank. I've got this one," he said. Maria could see the wonder in his eyes, and really she didn't blame him. What are the odds of Nick being the detective on Hap's case anyway?

When she wasn't looking, Monroe had been set on his feet again so Hap had deemed it her turn to be picked up, he said "And this is the squirt I've heard so much about! You know kid, your grandma never stops about ya!"

When she was set on her feet as well, it took her a small while to catch up with the world around her.

"You know these guys?" Nick asked Hap as he came over.

"Yea! This is my main man Monroe and his squirt, I told you they'd come, didn't I?" Hap said, slapping her uncle on the back.

"Hap and I went through a treatment program together, many years ago. You have to honor the bond," Monroe explained "Can I just, you know, take him out of here?"

"Yea, can I go?"

"Yea, you can go, just lay low for a couple days until we figure out what's going on here," Nick warned.

"What you think someone's trying to hurt him?" Monroe asked.

"We don't know," was all Nick had to reassure before he grabbed Monroe's shoulder and asked "Can you keep an eye on him for a couple of days?"

"Whoa! You guys know each other?" Hap finally caught on, causing all three of them to jump

"We've met," Monroe said, trying to find an excuse.

"Where'd you guys meet? Like at a party or something?" Hap asked, almost making Maria laugh. "Oh wait, you didn't get arrested for doing some of the stuff you used to do did yo-"

"Yea, okay, let's go," Monroe said, pushing on Hap's arm a bit.

"What old stuff?" Maria asked.

"Time to go," Monroe said, ushering both Hap and Maria out of the room, and leaving a stunned Nick behind them.

"You can wash up in there, my aim is to keep the toilet clean," Monroe listed as he lead hap through the house.

"Cool."

"Your aim will help I shower at seven fifteen every morning after palates, please don't run the water at that time, I like the full pressure."

"Gotch' ya."

"Here's something to wear, now what else…"

"You went to Brown?"

"Grad school," Monroe answered quickly.

You never told me that, professor! Heh, Hey how 'bout some underwears?"

"Oh no, no, no! No! Don't touch my clocks! Okay? Sofa pulls out to a bed, I like to finish breakfast by eight thirty in the morning kitchen's in here."

"You don't happen to have any Schnapps do ya? And how about dinner? Huh? You wanna get take out? '24/7 Pork' delivers and, if it's more than twenty minutes, it's free!" Hap offered.

"Pork and Schnapps? Really?" Monroe whined.

"No Peppermint Schnapps, then pork!" Hap corrected

"Oh dude," Monroe said, a whimper in his voice.

"Look bro, I realize this is a little inconvenient for you, considering you're already taking care of a kid and all. It's a little inconvenient for me too. So, if you want me to leave just say 'Hap, dude, you're a good old friend. We've shared some times, but I've got a lot on my plate. This is my space, and you're not welcome in it'" Hap said, in a sad tone. "It's cool I'll go"

"No Hap, you can stay," Monroe said, causing the larger Blutbad to reach out his arms "But no hugs!"

Hap gave up the hug before saying "Wild times!"

"I'm done with the wild times," Monroe said.

"Right, right, I can see that," Hap mused as he looked about the kitchen. "Look bro, I cheated death last night! If that's not a wakeup call, I don't know what is! But I'm going to clean up my act. This time, for real! Starting tonight, with you!"

"Okay," Monroe said with a smile on his face.

"Yea? Yea! Yea!" Hap yelled, getting excited as he walked over to sit on the counter "Now how 'bout that pork?"

As Maria heard a car drive up to the house, she assumed that Nick had arrived to watch the place and walked along outside to greet him. Then she saw a figure sneaking up on the vehicle. Bunching up against the house so she wasn't seen, she made it to the car and rounded it, just in time to meet the back of her target. She wrestled a bit, realizing that this figure wasn't just any person, but a Blutbad she woged. Growls and barks came from both parties as she could vaguely here Nick get out of his car. There was a light nip on her arm before the figure calmed down and she could hear Monroe and Hap come out of the house.

"Kid! Calm down! It's just me!" the voice of a woman came from below as the Blutbad reverted to her human appearance.

"Angelina!" Hap's excited voice came from behind. "Good to see ya sis!"

Maria reverted as well, eyes not changing from their gold hue as blood and adrenaline still pumped at their top speeds.

"Heh, I remember being like that too," Angelina said, getting off the ground.

"What was going on out here?" Monroe asked.

"I just came up on this guy, didn't think he was supposed to be here. Gotta be careful and all after what happened to your-" Angelina paused, sniffing the air before looking directly at Nick with red eyes.

"Angelina, he's cool! Just like Daniel was!" Monroe said slowly, stepping in front of Nick as he put his hand on his gun. "Now why don't we all go inside and talk about this before the neighbors call the cops. Again. Okay?"

Angelina bit her tongue, but stomped towards the house with a huff.

"What's going on with her?" Nick asked as the door of the house slammed.

"Grimms, Blutbads, you know," Monroe said.

"He's a Grimm and a Cop?" Hap asked "Is that legal?"

The air was thick as Angelina paced through the living room. She would normally be going off on a tangent right now, if it wasn't for Maria standing there. She knew about the family thing, and she knew Monroe would kill her before his family did him if she was the one to blow it.

"I know, in case you're wondering," Maria said all of a sudden.

"What?" Monroe asked.

"Well, it's not like she doesn't have anything to say and I don't want her being quiet on my part."

"Nice try kid, but the answer's still no," Angelina said.

"What? When did you find out you were half Grimm?" Hap asked with a large smile on his face.

"Damn it Hap," Angelina said, lightly smacking her brother on the shoulder.

"What? She knows what a Grimm is now right? I mean, she knew Nick and all."

"And how do you two know Nick?" Angelina asked.

"Well, he sort of tackled me into a door," Monroe said slowly, earning a sour look from Angelina.

"And so you thought it was a good idea to just be all chummy with him then?" she reasoned.

"Well, it's a bit more complicated than that," Monroe said.

"Monroe sometimes helps with my cases," Nick said.

"Shut up Grimm," Angelina said, free to spout words now. "I was okay with Daniel because he had a pretty big turnaround but you're still on thin ice!"

"What do you mean? Who's Daniel?" Nick asked.

"My dad," Maria said, shrugging a bit.

"Yea, and Sarah's judgment was a little less faulty, Monroe," Angelina shot back.

"I'm here to protect your brother and I need to ask him some questions so why don't you just, shut up!" Nick said suddenly.

Angelina lunged for him, when Monroe caught her with his arm saying "Hold on! Hold on! Now, Angelina let's not let this get out of hand again I just had the carpet cleaned!"

"Wow," Hap mused. "You're really a Grimm! Wow, I'm like living like a piece of history here bro!"

Monroe and Maria let out two nervous and sarcastic laughs at that.

"Your brother Rolf had a life insurance policy," Nick said to Hap "Who was the beneficiary?"

"Don't answer him!" Angelina warned.

"I want to he's trying to help me," Hap said calmly "I got the money when Rolf died."

"Ugh, I need a drink!" Angelina said, throwing her hands up.

"And if you die, who gets the money?" Nick prodded.

"Me! So what?" Angelina asked, ticked.

"So where were you the night your brother died?" Nick asked suddenly.

Angelina lunged again, Monroe having to stop her once more saying "Whoa! This is not getting any better!"

"The night Rolf died, I was in New Orleans, visiting an old friend," she said.

"Does your old friend have a name?" Nick continued.

She paused for a small while before finally saying "Adam Halpman."

"Angelina!" Hap whined.

"He's a butcher in the 'French Corner'," she continued. "His number's in the book, I'm gonna get that drink now."

"I'm gonna- I'm gonna top this off," Hap said, sipping down the last of his drink.

"Oh come on you cannot trust her!" Nick said to Monroe once Angelina was gone.

"Actually it depends on the circumstances-" Monroe began.

"She'd never kill family," Maria said. "I don't think she could even kill another Blutbad if her life didn't depend on it."

"Yea, look Nick, we don't kill our own," Monroe said

"Do not let Hap leave this house!" Nick warned, still in fumes.

"He won't, he'll be safe here. I promise."

Nick left then, nearly slamming the front door behind him. He quickly regretted this as his arm screamed in pain. Then, he noticed the bike. About to pull out his cell phone, he noticed Maria was standing there.

"I wouldn't do that," she said.

"Why not? I'm just going to have someone at the station run her plate for me," Nick said.

"Whatever blood you find on her hands, is probably on my uncle's too," she said. "Now why don't you come back inside? Talking will calm you both down."

"And how do you know that?"

"The same thing happened with my dad and her. Sure, there wasn't the word 'Grimm' mentioned, but she was ready to pop his head off until my mom made them talk," she explained.

Nick debated it for a while before sighing and saying "Look, I won't run the plates," he lied "But I just don't think it'll work out that way, Maria."

"Okay, fine. See ya' tomorrow," she said, walking back to the house.

Maria listened from the attic as Monroe and Angelina moved around the house bellow. Maybe it was just something all girls have a soft spot for, but she wanted to know what would happen when they thought they were alone.

"So how's Adam?" Monroe's voice floated through the floor. As she listened intently with her head on the ground.

"Oh Adam, he's a lot of things. But he's not you," Angelina replied. "Tell me you don't miss it."

"I don't miss being out of control," Monroe said slowly.

"I'm in control, I could have killed that Grimm but I didn't!" she shot back.

"He could have killed you too," Monroe reminded her.

"And that would have made you sadder."

"Why are you here?" he asked after a few moments of silence.

"I'm here to protect my brother," she stated simply. "But now there are… other reasons." The following moments were too quiet to hear through the floor before she heard Angelina say "Good to see you live a little! Do you remember that time in the Cascades? We didn't go inside for a month! Admit it, you've never felt so free!"

"The call of the wild isn't always such a good thing!" Monroe pointed out.

"Oh, and what, you have regrets?" she asked.

"Let's just say I'm glad we didn't get caught!"

"That would have just added to the fun! You know…" only a few mumbles could be heard next as Maria strained to hear what they were saying.

Then, through her open window, she heard Angelina talking.

"Come on! It's a beautiful night for a run in the woods!" Maria walked to the window and peaked out. "If you can still run!"

Angelina then took off, her uncle not long after. So, as it appeared, Maria was Hap sitting tonight.

It was a not so early morning when Maria woke up. Saturdays were fairly lazy, so she had little motivation to get up other than the knock at the door. Looking out the window, she saw a man cocking pistol.

Oh my God, she thought, grabbing her phone before pocketing it and running down the stairs with quiet feet, turning to Hap who was waking up slowly on the couch.

"'24/7 Pork'! I got your ribs here!" the man called.

"My main man Monroe! Doing me a solid!" Hap said, getting up.

"Hap! Shh!" Maria said, trying to keep him away from the door.

"Calm down squirt! Bet you've never had ribs before, you're in for a treat!"

"Monroe once pulled me through traffic on a busy street to get to the other side all because there was a hot dog stand in front of us! Do you really think he'd order you ribs in his own house?" Maria asked through gritted teeth.

"Hey! Come on! I know they're free but I can't leave them out here!"

"Free?" Hap whimpered quietly.

"He has a gun! Come on," Maria said, leading Hap to the back door. Running through the yard and fence, they went into the woods.

"Squirt, you're over reacting," Hap said, just before a bullet whizzed by his head and into a tree.

"Run!" she yelled, grabbing his hand and pulling him as best she could. They woged and tried their best to avoid thorns and trees, going as quickly as possible until they reached a point where they knew it was safe, an old deer stand.

"What the heck man?" Hap said "Someone really is trying to kill me!"

"Yea and they almost got you too. Now I just need to call the police. They'll know what to do," Maria said, reaching for her phone.

"Whoa there squirt, now let's just calm down!"

"Are you telling me you don't want me to call the police?"

"No, I just need you to calm down a few notches! That's all! Look, we're far away. As long as we stay up against the trunk, he couldn't get us if he found us right? Besides, I think one of the neighbors was watching the entire time. So don't worry so much, okay?" The distant sound of police sirens signaled that Hap was right, a neighbor had been watching and called the police. Maria sighed. Still not too eager to climb down, she sat there huddled against the trunk. "Thanks by the way, who knows what would have happened if you hadn't been there!"

"Monroe and Angelina just had to run off last night didn't they?" Maria said sourly.

"Yea, those two love birds! Always finding the time to-" he paused, looking at Maria with wide eyes "to…. Kiss and stuff."

"Yea, okay then," Maria said, rolling her eyes. "How about I call them, let them know we're not lying in the woods with a round in our chests?"

"Good idea squirt!" Hap said, rubbing the top of her head like she was a dog.

Monroe and Angelina ran out of the woods at the sound of sirens, not so surprised to find police cars surrounding the house.

"Hap?" Angelina called before she barreled forward into two officers "That's my brother! That's my brother!"

"Let them through!" Nick called to the officers, who let Angelina pass.

She looked around the house from the door way, trying to find either of the two people who were supposed to be there.

"The scent's cold," she mumbled to herself "they're not here."

"What's she talkin' about?" Hank asked.

"I'll handle this Hank. Why don't you go get some more witness statements?" Nick said.

Hank left without a fight, and Angelina was on him in the next second "Where are they?"

"I don't know," Nick said calmly "The neighbors called, there are a few bullet holes in the fence out back. In the woods is our best bet."

"Well don't just stand there! We have to go look for them!" Angelina insisted. "They could be hurt!"

"We have a search party out, and we haven't found any blood that would indicate one of them is in trouble. Just calm down for a second, where were you two last night?" Nick asked, turning to Monroe.

"We were just across the street at the park!" Monroe said.

Suddenly, the phone rang. Just as Angelina went for it, Nick grabbed her arm.

"Two arsons and you want to answer the phone?" he said.

"It could be them," she said, fire in her eyes.

"Check the caller ID first," he warned, letting her go.

Monroe was already on it however. "It's Maria," he said before picking it up. "Hello?"

"Put it on speaker," Nick said quickly.

"-Hap! Oh my God he had a gun and said that it was 24/7 Pork and oh my God oh my- no I won't calm down! We were just shot at!" Maria's voice came over the phone.

"Sweetie, can you put Hap on?" Angelina asked.

"Sure, here," she answered, there was some shuffling then before Hap answered.

"Hey sis! How you doing?" he asked.

"'How am I doing?'" Angelina repeated. "You were almost killed and you're wondering how I'm doing?"

"Well, yea! I mean, this is some pretty gnarly stuff we're in the middle of right now! He might have gone after you after we left!" Hap said.

"Where are you two?" Nick asked.

"Uh, some deer stand in the woods behind Monroe's house," he said "Maria said we should wait here, just in case that guy is looking for us."

"Good, we have some search parties looking for you. Think you can find one of them?"

"Are you kidding? We'll be back in a bit! Thanks again dude!"

"Bye Hap," Monroe said, hanging up.

Angelina seemed to sag in relief.

"Glad they're safe," Monroe said.

"Yea, that was a close one," Angelina added.

"You two left them at the house alone?" Nick asked.

"Just for a little while, Grimmy," Angelina said "We didn't think anything bad would happen!"

"Well maybe it's time we take the security up a notch," Nick said.

"What do you mean? Protective custody? Because you're not locking my brother in a hotel room with a bunch of cops!"

"Not just your brother, you too," he said.

Angelina shot him a look. "Really?"

"Yea, I think our perpetrator might be after you too."

"And what makes you say that?" she asked.

"I was in your house last night, there was a guy there, probably looking for yo-"

"You were in my house?!"

"I was just looking around, but yes! Okay? And there was a guy there, he jumped me. He wasn't able to finish what he was doing, but he was definitely up to something!"

Angelina shot him a dirty look, like she was going to rip his head off.

"Look, the important thing here is that they're alive!" Monroe said "And now, three people have seen the killer!"

"Speaking of which, I'm going to need to see you all down at the station for your statements," Nick said.

Monroe and Angelina sat with Nick at the police station, not being directly involved in what happened, they had gotten out sooner. It was awkward and all around painful for Monroe.

"So, what'd you find at my place?" she asked, surprisingly calm "Or, better yet, what did you expect to find?"

"Nothing," Nick said. "I don't even really know what I was looking for."

"Well, that's just dandy. You're lucky if I don't press charges."

"Angelina, do you really think you're in a place to press charges?" Monroe asked with a small whine in his voice.

"Hell yea! You need a warrant for that sort of thing! Not to mention a misuse of resources!"

"That's what I keep telling him," Maria said as she came over to the group with Hap.

"Thank goodness you two are okay," Monroe said, reaching for a hug from Maria.

Hap misread the action, taking the hug for himself. "Oh dude! You don't know the half of it!"

"Well I think I get the gist here," Angelina said. "I think it's about time Grimmy here got some balls on him and decided to hunt whatever this thing is down!"

"I'm not going to hunt anything down," Nick said "We don't even know if this is Wesen related."

"Please, three Blutbads targeted? You think that's a coincidence?" Angelina shot back.

"You're also siblings," Nick said.

"He didn't seem to have a problem shooting after me," Maria added.

"Not you too, look this is ridiculous! Even if this guy is after you all because you're Blutbads doesn't mean we're going to go on a hunt here!" Nick said.

"Fine, if you won't do something, I will!" Angelina declared, grabbing her jacket and leaving the station.

"Look, I'll keep looking for this guy. Just make sure she stays out of trouble," Nick said.

"Will do. Thanks again dude," Hap said.

Nick walked back to his desk, sitting down. He then decided to search for any files containing the name 'Angelina Lasser' thinking me might find something worthwhile. That was when he found how wrong Wu could be at times.

A suspect in the murder of George and Stanly Orson? he thought as he looked the names of the two brothers up, discovering that there was a third brother, Peter Orson, Now working for the Portland PD. I can't believe it, he thought, If Angelina killed his brothers, maybe he's trying to kill hers.

"Maybe we should call her," Monroe said as he paced about the living room.

"Bro, just chill! She'll be fine, might even swing on by on her own if we let her," Hap said. Then there was a hurried knock at the door. "See? Right on schedule."

Monroe walked up to the door, being careful as he opened it. Luckily, it was Angelina.

"Angelina! We've been worrying and-"

"I know who who's after us. It was a cop, a Bauerschwein!" she said, cutting him off.

"What?" Monroe asked.

"I picked up his stench at the precinct and again at my place last night."

"A pig, killed one of us?" Monroe asked "Are you sure?"

"Oh I'm sure!" Angelina said with a nod.

"Who is it?" he asked.

"I don't know yet, but when I find out he's gonna pay!" she said, an angry look in her eye.

"Angelina, stay out of this!" Monroe warned

"Well, I was hoping you were gonna tear out a little piggy throat with me. But I guess not, how about you two?" she asked, turning to Maria and Hap.

"Maria isn't going to help you either," Monroe said.

"Let the girl make her own decisions!" Angelina shot back.

"Like he said, I'm not," Maria said.

"Yea sis, Nick's handling this pretty well. Maybe it's just best to let him take care of it," Hap added.

"I can't believe this!" Angelina said, looking at them all with wide eyes. "Fine, if you're not gonna help, Hap, then at least come with me. He'll be following my trail around town, wouldn't check there."

Hap looked from Monroe to Maria and back to Monroe, looking for an answer.

"It's your choice Hap," Monroe said.

Hap turned to Angelina before nodding his head.

"Good, let's get out of here," Angelina said, opening the door and motioning for Hap to leave. Once he was outside, she added "You know what the worst part is? I still love you." She left then with that bomb shell behind her.

Monroe looked down, walking away into his repair room. Maria heard the smashing of something against a wall before Monroe picked up a phone and called Nick to tell him what he'd just heard.

"Burkhardt," Nick's voice came over the line.

"Angelina just came by, she said she knows who killed her brothers," Monroe took a deep sigh. "She said it was a Bauerschwein."

"A what?"

"A pig. And I don't mean a cop, but I do mean a cop."

"Does she know who?"

"No, do you?"

"No. Not exactly. And I have one question for you, I have most of the pieces, but they're not quite together yet. Answer honestly. Did Angelina kill two brothers named Stanley and George Olson?"

"How should I know?"

"Monroe," Nick began "If you lie to me, I can't protect you. She may still have a chance. You'll be working against her if you don't tell me."

"Fine. Yes. It was a long time ago. Why?"

"I'll tell you later, I promise," Nick said, hanging up as he saw Peter going down the stair well.

Angelina had just finished slipping into her green dress and preparing her make up before she was to walk into the precinct, a hand caught her arm. She whipped her head around to see none other than Nick.

"Where do you think you're going?" Nick said.

"Get your hand off of me, Grimm, or I'll rip it off."

"I know what you did to the Orson brothers. No one else does. You know Monroe doesn't want this to end in blood. So, for him, why don't you just go?"

"Angelina tugged her arm away saying "It's called family! You do what you have to do for family! That means anything. Right now, Hap is sitting at home and I was almost too scared to come here because I might lose him!"

"I'm goin to get him Angelina. I promise you that. Why don't you just go home? I can get him."

"Why do you care if I get hurt in this? I'm a Blutbad, you're a-"

"No, you're a person! A person I need to help before she does something stupid. I know Monroe's done some bad stuff, I know Hap's done some bad stuff. And, I know you've done some bad stuff. I just want you to stop it. Just stop it before it starts. Please."

Angelina looked at him for a long time before she finally picked up her clothes off the ground.

"Get out of here Grimm."

Nick began again "Angelina, please I-"

"What? I can't ride home like this, I've gotta get changed."

Nick was dumbstruck, the most he could do was reach out his hand.

"What are you doing?"

"It's called a handshake, it means we're good."

"Not a chance," she said, not really waiting for him anymore as she began pulling on the pants under the dress. Besides, wouldn't want to add lying to my little list now would we? Going into the precinct to get the information was a stupid idea anway, she thought, especially when I can just track him.

Maria jumped as she heard the door open down stairs. Monroe had gone grocery shopping, and the lack of a voice left her to believe the worst as she moved carefully to the top of the stairs to see a large man, a cop, holding a shotgun. He was a bit nervous. Then it happened, he woged into a Bauerschwein. Her heart stopped as she hid behind the wall. He didn't seem to know she was there, just what he was planning to do. So she waited, in silence, too scared to get up and reach for the phone. All she could do was wait for the events to follow.

She heard the door open a small while later, the heavy footsteps of her uncle's boots were followed by the front door slamming shut.

"Don't give me any excuse, it's useless!" the cop yelled.

She peaked out from the wall to see the Bauerschwein pointing the gun at Monroe, who was out of sight.

"Do you really need an excuse?" Monroe asked.

"This isn't between you and me."

"Then what's with the shotgun?"

"I didn't want to end up on the table with an apple stuffed in my mouth!"

"Mind if I put my groceries down?"

The cop hesitated before nodding and saying "Slowly." The barrel of the gun followed her uncle, she could practically see it. What bothered her was what he said next. "I know what you're thinking Blutbad, 'Can I get to him before he gets to me?' I know you're fast but, this thing is filled with double 00 buck! You'd be pulling your teeth off the back wall before you could sink them into my neck!"

Maria's muscles bunched up under her skin. She woged silently at the top of the stairs. She wasn't seen before she launched herself down the steps. The Bauerschwein looked up the stairs with fear in his eyes as he let a shot fly by Monroe's head. She was growling, jaws latched on his throat as she shook her head. Maria could taste something metallic, like sucking on a battery, as blood filled her mouth. A few sloppy cries filled the room as he struggled, dropping the gun as he went limp and cold. She didn't stop, continuing to gnaw on his throat until she leaned over him, woge and panting with her eyes a dull orange as opposed to their usual bright gold.

"Maria," Monroe's voice like a choked whisper came to her ears. "It's okay. You can get off of him now."

She turned to him then, the beast in her fighting the emotions that were attempting to come to surface. It lost the battle as she reverted, standing next to the body as her uncle came next to her. She cried into his chest, arms wrapped around his body as he sat on the staircase with her in his arms.

"Shh… It's okay. It's all going to be okay," he assured her.

"So what happened here?" an officer asked Monroe as police gathered around his house.

"I came home, he was behind the door with a gun, and I had to defend myself," he lied. There was no reason for him to get Maria any kind of record, even in self defense.

"Did he say anything to you?" the questions continued.

"Just some nonsense. He threatened to shoot me and, it all happened so fast." That part wasn't even a lie.

"Monroe?" a voice yelled from the side.

He turned to see Angelina and Hap standing there with confused looks on their faces before an officer asked them to step back. It was the second time this week his house was covered in police tape, the second time his niece's life was in danger, and the second time this week that Bauerschwein had been near his home.

"I'll take it from here Wu," Nick's voice came beside him. "So, do you want to tell me what really happened so I can alter your statements in any way that might help you?"

"He was in the house Nick. Maria was alone and then I came home. He didn't even know she was there. But if he had, what would have happened?"

"I know. But I need to know. Was it really you that killed him?"

"No," Monroe confessed. "But, she was just scared! She felt like she needed to protect me."

"I know. Don't worry though, the courts are usually lenient with teenage girls who kill men threatening them with shotguns. I have a feeling you guys will be just fine," Nick said. "Why don't you go talk to them I'm sure Angelina's dying to know who killed who here."

"Yea, won't she be thrilled! But seriously Nick, I'd rather just wait until Maria gets out of the ambulance."

"Yea, I heard. She didn't even know she got shot, with a shotgun, that's pretty hard to miss."

"It's the adrenaline, it gets to your head."

"I know, boy do I know, but still, best of luck to ya. Want me to let them through the tape at least?"

"Nah, they'll here soon enough," Monroe said, and then Nick was gone.

Maria sat in the ambulance. From what she could tell, they were checking her from signs of shock. There was one thing nagging her through the process, was it a bad thing in these particular circumstances if she didn't show any signs of it? The medics didn't seem to think so as they buzzed around her, calling her 'sweetie' and 'hun' as they tried to reassure her that everything was going to be alright. One of them seemed to notice the blood in her mouth and cringed as he woged into a Gîtercerf, still not breaking character as he offered her a bottle of water while throwing her a wink.

So Nick isn't the only understanding Wesen in the police force, she thought to herself as she swished the water a bit in her mouth before gulping it down with the last of the metallic taste of blood.

"Maria," Monroe began, coming up next to her and sitting on the ledge of the ambulance with her. "Are you okay?" She didn't say anything, just leaning on him as he rubbed her arm in a comforting gesture. "Everything is going to be okay."

So, I did change only ONE concrete thing in this entire story. That was making Angelina a suspect in the murders of George and Stanley Orson as opposed to Hank getting prints from her cup and finding out that way. (He can't get the cup if Hap didn't die and they didn't suspect her of killing him right?) Let me just say this, everything else before Maria shows up in Portland is canon. You don't know how long I have to watch these episodes. Literal hours on forty five minute episodes trying to decipher mumbles and sentences that are spoken too quickly, still I'm pretty proud of this chapter. As Monroe appears more in episodes, so will Maria, meaning the chapters will get longer as stated by this one, based off of an episode where Monroe was the center. The other chapters:1600-2000 words This Chapter:6300 words. (BTW: I'm not saying this is hard. Most of the words are written for me.) That's another thing. As Maria get's more involved, the more the story will change and I will get to write original ideas. :D
