When the sword forging group returned home, Arya greeted her husband and son. Taron travelled via horseback to see Sarra, after his son Daeron reported she was feeling unwell. Aulix headed straight to see Daenerys with her son carrying the new sword. In the end both Gendry and Aulix had a similar discussion with their women. The conversation centered around the bloody completion of Lightbringer II.

Arya sought comfort in her husbands strong arms. "I hope Aegerys doesn't choose Rayanna. My heart would break and I don't know if Kiren would recover from her death, let alone Aegerys himself."

"I don't suppose Bran told Aulix a way around the blood of Nissa Nissa being the true quench for that sword?"

"None that he has shared. Sacrificing one beloved to save many… we'd loose any argument to prevent our daughter's death."

"Aegerys said he only loves his mother…. What would happen if Daenerys died? Is her son ready to take on the responsibility of controlling her vast kingdom, should we win the white walker war?"

"Her advisers would help him with that. But keeping those cities united, even with dragons to enforce his will, might have a heavier risk than we think."

Gendry sighed, "I feel sorry for the kid, he'll have to make some big choices and I doubt he'll be able to sacrifice his mother."

The same thought had occurred to Aulix too. Daenerys reassured him, "even if he can't I will. Should he choose me as his Nissa Nissa, I will help him push that sword into my heart. Drogon will have to watch, to see that Aegerys wasn't just killing me alone. Will Arya and Gendry fight us, if Aegerys chooses Rayanna?"

"No, they both know what depends on that sword."

"Will you be there, when it happens?" She wasn't scared of her fate, but wanted him there for her son.

"Of course. We'll talk to him about it in the morning."

"Perhaps we should do the same with the other two girls too."

It wasn't until late afternoon the next day, when they all talked to each other and found out who was Aegerys's true Nissa Nissa. The girls were spared and offered comfort to Aegerys, while the adults planned on when to perform the final ritual. Daenerys explained that ever since discussion on returning to kill the Night King had begun, she'd been plotting a contingency for ruling the Targaryn empire, should she die.

Arya asked, "Aulix you brought Taron back from death… since Queen Daenerys will keep her head, could you not bring her back too?"

"You mean like a magical loophole?" Gendry asked.

"Well, the prophecy never said that the sacrificed love had to remain dead," Arya pointed out.

Daenerys rose an eyebrow, "is that even possible, without a priest of R'hllor?"

Aulix negatively shook his head. "It doesn't work that way Arya, Queen Daenerys. I had to give half my soul to Taron and it was a one time thing. I cannot bring anyone back to life now. I was reckless and selfish when I brought Taron back."

Daenerys said gently, "it's hard to see the one you love die. I, more than anyone, understand why you couldn't let him go."

"Who are you Aulix?" Gendry asked, almost rhetorically.

"I am who I am, just as you are you."

"I've always hated that vague answer myself, so don't let it frustrate you. The better question would be how he got his skills and knowledge, that not even the oldest maesters seem to have." Arya looked pointedly at Aulix.

"The world is full of mysteries, sometimes it's best not to know and other times we just have to have the will to seek out the answers," Daenerys explained giving Aulix a wink. She then continued, "so the date is set, I'll be ready no matter what the fates decide."

Aulix spoke again, but this time his eyes were white, "what will come to be, was meant to be, as was prophesized before even dragons were born."

"Damn that was creepy," Gendry groaned.

Daenerys stood, "please ask Aegerys to come see me."

They all got up and exited the room. Arya went to see Aegerys and found him with Rayanna and Kiren. "Your mother would like to see you before dinner."

As Gendry lead his family home, he said, "we're blessed that Queen Daenerys is such a strong woman."

Rayanna and Kiren asked in unison, "so she's his Nissa Nissa?"

"Yes."

Kiren squeezed his sister's hand, happy that she hadn't been chosen. Rayanna however, was both relieved and upset at this revelation. Of course she was glad that Aegerys didn't have to kill her, but unhappy because he didn't care for her the way she did for him. Maybe the gossips were right; Emeryt was the one that Aegerys liked.

For all the adults who knew what would happen tomorrow, it was a very somber night. Taron retuned and got drunk with Aulix. Gendry and Arya embraced in bed, but didn't make love or sleep until just before dawn. After speaking to her son, Daenerys stayed up writing numerous scrolls. Aegerys only slept after drinking Byt's tea, that Tallen had brought, as requested by Daenerys. Everyone felt that morning came too soon.

Daenerys called to council her advisors and crowned her son. They were all given scrolls that she'd created as a result of knowing her fate. Then with her son, Daenerys called to Drogon. When the dragon landed, both mother and son went for a long ride. On their return, they saw that Aulix, Taron, Arya, Gendry, Kiren and Rayanna, all waited outside the city gates.

"It's time." Aulix said as the sun began to set.

The dragon landed and Aegerys helped his mother down. She stood in front of Drogon, while the others formed a semi-circle around the Queen and the newly crowned King. Daenerys took a knee, as Aegerys unsheathed the sword. He was crying and his hands trembled as he held the hilt and positioned the point above her chest.

"I can't do this mom, I love you too much!"

"You can, you must!" Her hardened voice commanded.

"We don't have to go back to Westeros, you don't have to die!"

"Aegerys the Ice King will come here too and enslave all you love. I will sacrifice myself for the greater good." Daenerys stretched up her arms and held on to his forearms. "Together my son. I love you and Drogon, with all my soul."

The children openly sobbed, Gendry's eyes were wet too. Taron, Arya and Aulix had shut down their feelings. The last light of that day, hit the blade of the sword, turning it red. All of them gasped, as Aegerys pushed on the sword and Daenerys pulled it down and into her heart. Drogon roared his pain and Aegerys screamed. As blood soaked her dress, Daenerys felt her life end as Lightbringer II was born. Aegerys let go of the burning sword after pulling it from her chest, then collapsed to the ground with his dead mother in his arms. Drogon launched skyward with a shrill bugle.

Arya came forward to wrap a cloak around grieving son and dead Queen. They waited until Aegerys stood back up and sheathed the sword. Then Gendry and his children, lead the young King away. Taron and Arya put Daenerys on a cart, covering her body.

"Take our brave Queen to Byt. She needs to be cleaned and made ready for the funeral process." Aulix instructed. "Her ashes will be brought back to Dragonstone, on the day we go to fight the deadman's horde and it's king.

"Are you staying here until Drogon returns?" Taron asked.

"I'm staying, but only because I need to properly take care of her blood."

"Aulix, will he come back?" Arya asked as she looked at the spec in the sky, that was the fleeing grieving dragon.

"Aegerys and I will call him, when the time comes."

Taron lead the horse with the precious cargo. Arya walked beside the cart, making sure Daenerys's body remained covered.
