Chapter 5: Island Get Away

The S.O.S. Brigade gathered at a ferry terminal. They were joined by both Hinata and Kyon's younger sister.

"Thank you for letting me join." Said Hinata giving a polite bow.

"This is your friend Naruto?" asked Haruhi stunned.

"Sure is." Said Naruto, "We grew up together."

"What school do you go to?" asked Haruhi.

"Kouyouen." Said Hinata.

Haruhi didn't know how to react to this fact.

"When were you going to tell us you childhood friends with a rich girl." Said Haruhi.

"That's not exactly your business." Said Naruto.

"Oh come on!" said Haruhi.

Nearby Kyon's sister was talking to Negi.

"Are you really my brother's teacher?" asked Kyon's sister.

"I am." Said Negi.

"That's so amazing!" said Kyon's sister.

Kyon sighed think about how they ended up here.

(Flashback)

It was the last days of school before summer vacation.

And of course Haruhi wanted to do something.

"All right!" said Haruhi, "It's time to plan out what we're doing for the summer!"

"Um… do I have to come with I already had some summer plans." Said Negi.

"Really what are they?" asked Haruhi.

"I was planning to visit a couple of my father's friends in Kyoto." Said Negi.

"Oh! That could be one of our trips." Said Haruhi, "But I think we need to do something more summery first!"

"I don't know…" said Negi.

"We should go to the beach or something." Said Haruhi.

"My relative owns his own island." Said Itsuki, "I'm sure he'll be happy to let us stay there for a few days."

"Really!" said Haruhi.

"Of course." Said Itsuki.

"Wait you just have a relative who own an island?" asked Kyon.

"He recently built a villa on it." Said Itsuki.

"Sounds awesome!" said Naruto.

"That's why I'm making you second in command of the SOS Brigade!" said Haruhi.

"Thank you Ms. Suzumiya." Said Itsuki.

"Wait! I just remembered something Takamichi warned me about involing students and summer vacation." Said Negi.

"Takamichi?" asked Naruto.

"Oh I meant Mr. Takahata." Said Negi.

"What?" asked Haruhi.

"That students sometimes don't finish their summer homework." Said Negi.

"Seriously… who does that." Said Haruhi, "I'm proudly going to get it done by the first day."

"You can't be serous." Said Kyon.

"Okay that's just scary." Said Naruto.

"What?" asked Haruhi.

"Ms. Suzumiya. I don't think they'll be able to finish it in a day like you. "said Itsuki.

Haruhi sighed, "I guess we can do a day where we all help each other with homework."

That was when everyone got a weird feeling.

"Did you feel that." Said Kyon.

"It was the sound of a thousand voices breath a sigh of relief." Said Yuki.

"Did she just paraphrase Star Wars?" thought Kyon.

"An island get away and a trip to Kyoto! Sounds like an awesome summer!" said Haruhi and then hastily added, "And a study day…"

On the day of the trip, Kyon found his bag too heavy to move. He opened it and his sister was trying to stow away.

"Kyon! Take me with you!" cried his sister.

Thanks to prodding by his mom and sister. He called Haruhi to see if it was okay if she came.

"Sure it's fine. Naruto's bringing a guest too." Said Haruhi.

"Really?" asked Kyon.

"Yeah." Said Haruhi, "So bring her along."

Kyon sighed and help his sister pack whatever she needed.

(End of Flashback)

As they were waiting for the ferry, Kyon decided to ask Hinata why she was there.

Durring this time Kyon decided to ask Hinata why she was there.

"I needed to get my mind off something." Said Hinata.

"Really, what?" asked Kyon.

"Kurenai went back to the Hidden Continent to give birth." Said Hinata, "It's hard not to be worried about her."

"Wait she really was pregnant?" thought Kyon surprised, I thought it was a ploy that no one would expect a pregnant woman."

"Is something wrong?" asked Hinata.

"No… not at all." Said Kyon.

"Shikamaru went with her to make sure everything turns out well." Said Hinata.

"I see." Said Kyon.

"Someone needs to stay and make sure Naruto's okay too." Said Hinata blushing.

"Kyon! Hinata! It's time to board!" called out Naruto.

"I can't help but to wonder what's going on with the ninjas." Thought Kyon.

"What?" asked Hinata.

"Nothing." Said Kyon.

And so they began the hours long trip on the ferry.

At one point they played cards and the loser had to buy drinks for everyone.

That loser was Kyon and he had to buy drinks for everyone.

After a while they got their destination where they met up with a maid and a butler.

"Ms. Mori, Mr. Arakawa it's good to see you again." Said Itsuki.

"Remember the island is remote so we must travel there by boat." Said the butler named Arakawa.

"Oh man! This is going to be awesome." Said Haruhi, "It's just like one of those mystery novels!"

"Haruhi seriously, I don't know if this a good time to be thinking about that." Said Rukia.

"What do you mean?" asked Haruhi.

"We have two kids. It's never a good idea thinking that having a murder on a remote island is a good thing." Said Rukia.

"Yeah, but one of them is our teacher." Said Haruhi.

"Do you want him to see a dead body?" asked Rukia.

Haruhi looked at their young teacher.

We could always hide the body from them." said Haruhi.

"Seriously?" asked Rukia.

And so they went on the boat, which would take a bit.

"Please tell me you met the people who own the island." Said Naruto.

"Don't worry, I have.: said Itsuki.

After about an hour they arrived at the island, on the island as a large mansion.

They saw a man there.

"Is that the man who owns the island?" asked Hinata.

"No it's his younger brother." Said Itsuki.

"Great… we're here with another person." Thought Kyon.

"Says the guy who brought along a guest." Said Haruhi sarcastically.

They were introduced to the younger brother Yutaka Tamaru, and then headed towards the very large house.

Inside was the master of the house, Keiichi Tamaru.

"Hello Keiichi it's been a long time." Said Itsuki.

"It's good to see you as well." Said Keiichi.

He looked at Haruhi.

"Thank you for letting us stay here." Said Haruhi politely.

"You don't have to polite. Itsuki told me a lot about you." Said Keiichi.

"Oh that's a relief!" said Haruhi sigh of relief, "So tell me, is there any mysterious events that even happened on this island?"

"Seriously?" thought Kyon.

"None that I know." Laughed Keechi.

After asking a few more questions they were shown to their rooms, which was on the second floor.

"Sorry we were only expecting 8 of you…" said Ms. Mori.

"It's okay Kyon's sister can share my room." Said Mikuru.

"Thank you!" said Kyon's sister.

"And Hinata can room with me." Said Rukia.

"Thank you so much." Said Hinata.

When Ms. Mori left, Haruhi proclaimed, "He's the suspect!"

"What?" asked Kyon.

"He's the one who's going to commit a crime." Said Haruhi.

"Come on Haruhi, I don't think there's going to be a crime." Said Rukia.

"Oh come on." Said Haruhi, "It's going to be fine."

"Death isn't a laughing matter!" said Rukia.

"Come on! Let's all get ready for the beach." Said Haruhi.

Rukia sighed.

"Well you tried." Said Kyon.

"Yeah." Sighed Rukia.

And so they all got ready and headed down to the beach.

Much fun was had. Kyon's sister pulled Negi into having fun with her. Yuki mainly sat on the beach reading, while Haruhi dragged Mikuru into having fun much like Kyon's sister did with Negi. Naruto was swimming while Hinata watched him do so.

Kyon got into a conversation with Rukia while Haruhi was distracted.

"I can't believe you're not going along with Haruhi." Said Kyon.

"Really?" asked Rukia, "You're asking me a Shinigami why I would want to see someone murdered?"

Kyon blinked.

"I walked into that one, didn't I?" asked Kyon.

"I really doubt there would be a murder here." Said Rukia, "But knowing Haruhi…"

"You think it would draw in one of those hollows?" asked Kyon.

"it's entirely possible." Said Rukia, "Let's not worry about that now."

"Why?" asked Kyon.

"I'm on vacation." Said Rukia putting on a pair of a sunglasses.

Kyon stared at Rukia and sighed.

It was very fun day at the beach.

That night they had dinner. They considered drinking some booze, however it probably wouldn't be a good idea to do so in front of Kyon's sister and Negi.

"Man... I honestly want to… but those faces means I couldn't." said Haruhi.

"Eh… drinking's over rated." Said Naruto, "I used to move around with my grandpa and I often had to deal with his drinking, and his flirting… and his pornography…"

Hinata giggled knowing what he was referring to.

"I'm half tempted to ask if he's telling the truth." Thought Kyon, "Then again it's probably something like a ninja teacher or something…"

The next day it was storming, thankfully there was a game room they could hang out and play during the day.

However during a conversation with Ms. Mori was concerned.

"According the forecast it was supposed to be sunny today." She told the group as they were playing pool.

Kyon was a bit concerned with this.

"I'm sure it's nothing, I mean weather reports are wrong all the time aren't they?" asked Naruto.

"Sure…" said Kyon.

Sometime later after lunch, Arakawa showed up very concerned.

"What is it?" asked Itsuki.

"Yutaka is missing. I looked everywhere but I couldn't find him. Also I tried contracting the master but I couldn't." said Arakawa.

Itsuki lead the way to the bedroom. They tried knocked but there was no answer.

"Is there any spear keys?" asked Itsuki.

"Every other room but his." Said Arakawa.

They all looked at the door. They knew one thing had to be done. Naruto, Kyon and Itsuki looked at each other and broke the door down.

What they saw was Keiichi on the ground with a knife in his chest.

Haruhi was the one most shocked out of all of them.

None of them could believe it… for it appeared the master of the manor had been murdered.
