Chapter 3

Seth's POV

For the first time in a long time, I wasn't hungry. I was too worried and caught up in her smell to really have an appetite. Paul reached forward for my plate but Emily quickly slapped his hand away. "Seth," she asked gently. "Is everything alright?"

I nodded with a sigh. "Yeah, I'm just worried about her. I don't know why. Maybe because I was there," I mumble before taking another small bite. Emily nodded but her expression showed she wasn't satisfied with the response. She hit Sam's shoulder and he groaned softly. "Seth, I'm sure everything-"

His forced comforting was cut off my a groan of pain coming from upstairs. It was too quiet for Emily to hear but loud enough for us wolves to easily pick up. Before anyone could say anything else, I was out of my seat and running upstairs. I didn't even bother to knock as I quickly opened the door. I was suddenly met with the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. They were certainly blue, but there seemed to be some grey and green mixed inside them, almost like water itself. I could feel myself getting lost in her eyes and her scent as my entire world seemed to shift beneath. She was suddenly everything to me. My heart no longer beat for my self, but it was in-tune with her's. I no longer cared about schoolwork or patrols, I just cared about her. The gravity of these emotions seemed to control me as I collapsed onto my knees in front of her. She gasped and tried getting up to help me, but cried out instead as she realized how injured she was.

Luckily, Embry was already there to hold her back. "Please be still. You're hurt very badly," he said gently. "But, what about him?" she said, her voice hoarse from the choking. Despite its hoarseness, I couldn't help but want to hear it over and over, but I was sadly unable to as Jake pulled me out of the room and to my feet. He looked into my eyes before his own widened. "You imprinted," he said before I found myself nodding in agreement. Sam grinned beside him and clapped me on the back. "Congrats, Seth, but you're not going inside until you calm down," he said sternly.

I growled at the concept of being forced away from my imprint, but I knew Sam was right. I couldn't scare her, especially after everything she has been through. I took a deep breath before entering the room again. Embry was helping her sit up, and I resisted the urge to growl as I sat beside her. She looked at me curiously before groaning again, her eyes quickly shutting as she held her head.

"What is it? What's wrong?" I asked quickly, feeling a sharp twist in my chest to see her in pain. She shook her head softly, remaining in a fetal position. "My head. Why does it hurt so much?" she whimpered out. I frowned and gently stroked her hair back. "I know. I'm sorry. Embry can go grab you your medication. It should help with the pain," I say softly. Her hair was so soft that I couldn't help but want to pet it all day, but I knew I needed to keep a careful distance. Embry took the hint and quickly left for the kitchen for the pills as I sat beside her.

She seemed to lean towards me a bit, making me sigh in relief to know she at least felt some hint of the bond between us. I gently grabbed her hand and she stared at me with wide eyes. "I don't understand what's happening," she said softly, her eyes filled with fear. I frowned and gently squeezed her hand. "I promise I'll explain it all later. Just don't worry," I said softly. Embry came back with her medication and I gently brought it to her mouth and lifted the water for her to swallow. She seemed to be pained by movement, making me frown in concern as I returned to stroking her hair.

She let out a soft yawn and her eyes began fluttering closed. I watched carefully as she slowly slipped back into sleep. Frowning, I slowly stood up and went back downstairs. The pack stared at me carefully as I shook a bit before slamming my fists into the wall, cracking the wood. Sam frowned and gave me a stern look.

"I know you're worried, Seth. She is your imprint. We're all worried, but we have to be calm. She's scared and we don't know how far from home she is. You need to be her rock," he said. I sighed and nodded in understanding. "You're right. I'm sorry about the wall," I said softly.

Sam shook his head, clearly not angry as the rest of the pack relaxed back and returned to the game. Paul came forward and clapped me on the back. "So is it true your imprint is a fish," he asked with a small chuckle, earning a growl from me. "Call her a fish again, and we'll be finishing this outside," I say before returning to sit with her upstairs, but not before hearing a slap and a cry of pain from Paul.
