Chapter 4
Seth's POV
Ultimately, I was exhausted from a day of imprinting and leech fighting, and it didn't take long for me to fall asleep in the chair beside her bed. I didn't wake up until hearing a loud thud and a cry of pain. My eyes shot open and I quickly shot out of my chair to find my imprint on the floor. In one quick motion, I had her in my arms then back in bed, allowing me to let out a sigh of relief to see her safe. She rubbed her side with a wince as I looked over her carefully for energy.
"Are you insane?" I ask almost angrily. "You're injured. You can't get up just yet! What if you were hurt even more?" I ask almost angrily. She started at me with wide eyes, clearly taken aback. I wince, realizing how harsh my tone was as I gently stroked back a piece of her hair. "I'm sorry. That was harsh. I just would hate to see you hurt anymore," I say softly. She nodded with a small smile before squeezing my hand gently, her eyes staring deeply into my own. However, our intense staring match was soon interrupted by her growling stomach. She blushed a bright red, and I couldn't help but stare at how beautiful she was with her rosy cheeks before eventually snapping back to reality.
"Right. I'll carry you downstairs. We just had dinner, and there should be left-overs. Don't worry. Emily is a good cook," I say with a smile. She nodded and wrapped her arms around my neck as I picked her up and began carrying her down the stairs before placing her on the couch. Paul, Embry, and Quil remained in the living room with the rest of the pack on patrols or checking on their own imprints. They each stared at her curiously as she looked around, and I growled at them for staring a little too long. I sat beside her and placed her feet in my lap, feeling myself able to relax under her touch.
It wasn't long until Emily came out with Sam with a cup of soup. She gently placed the bowl down in my imprint's lap with a smile. "There you are. I thought this would be easier to eat," she said softly, making my imprint smile widely. My heart almost melted, and I couldn't help but think of how much prettier she was than the angels that would hang around Charlie's house as decorations during Christmas. She began carefully sipping the soup before blushing as she noticed my intense stare. I cursed at myself before turning to watch the game on the TV ignoring the chuckles from Paul, Embry, and Quil. My imprint eventually finished her soup and Emily carefully picked up the bowl to carry to the sink.
I noticed Sam coming forward, and knew that perhaps this was the time to ask questions as the others shut of the television. My imprint watched Sam warily, almost nervous by his size perhaps. Sam seemed to pick up on this and slowly sat down in front of her before offering her a small smile. "Hello, there. My name is Sam. This Embry, Quil, and Paul. Besides you in Seth. Emily is in the kitchen. Do you remember what happened?" he asked gently.
She shook her head, her posture seeming to calm down a little bit more after knowing our names. Sam frowned, but kept up his calm demeanor as he continued talking to her. "That's alright. What is your name? Where are you from?" He asked softly.
Her eyes closed for a moment as she seemed to be in intense thought before they opened again, filled with a mix of worry and confusion. "I don't remember. I don't know who I am. I don't know where I am. I'm trying to think of where home is, but I can only think of an island," she said nervously as she began to softly shake, clearly on the brink of crying. I frowned and pulled her into my lap to help calm her down. My hand gently stroked her hair again as she seemed to relax on top of me. Sam frowned and nodded. "Alright, don't worry. We will figure it all out," he said gently before slowly getting up and heading back towards the kitchen.
She sighed into my chest and naturally leaned into it. "I'm sorry," she whispered softly before staring up at me. I shake my head with a soft smile. "Don't be. Is there something you want me to call you for now?" I ask, trying to make her feel more at home and relaxed. She shrugged. "I can't think of any names. My mind is just blank," she said hoarsely. My eyebrows knitted in concern as I stared at her carefully. "How about Angel? You're just as beautiful as one," I say, the words tumbling out before I could think about them, earning a soft laugh from the other wolves in the room.
She blushed a bright red before nodding. "Okay," she stuttered out with a small smile. "Thank you, Seth," she said, making me blush as my name rolled off so naturally on her tongue. I sighed happily and held her a little closer to me. "Of course, Angel," I mumble back with a large grin on my face. Minus the circumstances, I couldn't be happier in that moment.
