Chapter 5

Seth's POV

Angel rested on my lap for the rest of the evening as we watched the game. At first, she seemed uncomfortable with the rest of the pack, especially after Jared and Jake came in loudly arguing about the best branch of wrench. However, it didn't take long for her to become one with the pack, and at one point, even she was joining into the pack's mockery of Paul as he defended his third dinner for the night.

Sam eventually left the kitchen and motioned for me to follow him outside. I sighed and nodded before gently placing Angel to rest on the couch before grabbing a blanket so she wouldn't get cold. I then followed him outside. Crickets could be heard chirping in the distance coupled with the soft patter of rain on the roof, making me yawn a bit.

"I called Dr. Cullen. He believes she is suffering from a severe case of amnesia," he said slowly, making me shake before Sam held up his hand to calm me down. I nodded and sighed, realizing he wasn't done. "I also contacted Charlie. He searched across stations all across the United States from a missing, blonde, teenager, but nothing matched her description. Wherever her home is, they aren't looking for her," he said with a frown.

I nodded in understanding as I stared out at the tree line, noticing that even with my enhanced vision it seemed to blur behind the curtain of rain. "So what now, Sam?" I ask, knowing he must be getting somewhere.

"Well, Seth. I contacted the Elders. They would like to meet her and have a meeting about well, her predicament as something supernatural," he said with a frown. "They'll most likely allow her into the pack, but we can also decide who will take her in for now. I assume they'll want to meet tomorrow evening. However, when she heals, you'll need to tell her, well, about everything," he said slowly.

I frowned and let out a tired sigh. I hated the thought of telling her about who I was, or rather, what I was. Not that I was ashamed, but she seemed so fragile right now. I couldn't imagine her being comfortable with me when she finds out I turned into a gigantic, vampire-hunting, wolf. "I understand. Let's just get through the meeting first," I mumble before walking back inside.

Angel had woken up and was laughing softly as Embry and Quil were trying to balance different items on their heads. I rolled my eyes and watched from a distance as Embry placed a glass of water on his head. It shook for a moment before eventually falling off. I watched in slow motion as the glass landed on her torso and water began soaking through her blanket. In a few seconds, she had turned into water before growing her tail once again. Everyone stared in shock as I glared at Embry and Quil.

"Don't just stand there! Grab some towels!" I yell angrily as Angel cried out in pain. I raced to her side and held her hand. "Shhhh, it's okay. Just tell me what's wrong," I say softly. She took a deep breath before motioning to her side. "Just my side. It hurts," she whimpered out. I frowned, hating that I was unable to do anything. She turned back to look at her tail and gently flipped it up with a small sigh in relief, almost as if it was more natural for her to be like this. Embry threw me a towel and I went to dry her off before she stopped me. "No, it feels better like this. This is me," she said softly. I nodded in understanding before sitting down and resting her head in my lap, still glaring at Embry and Quil. "Alright, Angel. Just try and get some rest," I say softly as I went back to stroking her hair as she slipped back to sleep again.
