Chapter 9

Angel's POV

Seth and I had spent the next several days sneaking away to the beach, or really to any place, that gave us privacy from from the house and the guys. We often spent the afternoons on the coast, swimming and other things that Sam may have perhaps not been happy about. However, the two of soon realized how hard it was for us to stay away from each other. I found myself missing his touch, his lips, his laugh. I seemed to be completely taken with him, and soon even my nightmares were replaced with dreams of Seth.

Emily seemed to notice the shift in the way we looked at each other and acted around each other long before Sam or any of the other guys. When everyone seemed to be out on an emergency security patrol, Emily had seemingly cornered me during breakfast. "What's going on between you and Seth?" she asked with a raised eyebrow.

I choked on my muffin before quickly shaking my head. "Nothing," I said with a full mouth as Emily gave me a stern look. "It isn't nothing. Don't think I haven't noticed that you and Seth have been sneaking around, or those looks the two of you share," she said, making me blush a bright red.

"W-well, I mean, we did kiss. And have been kissing," I mumbled as I tried looking away from her. She squealed excitedly before tugging away my plate of muffins. "Hey!" I yelled in protest as she hushed me. "Angel, this is more important than muffins. Has he asked you on a date? Are you two official? You two are absolutely adorable," she said in a flurry.

I frowned and grumpily rested my cheek on my fist. "I don't understand what you're asking me. Why does he need to ask me anything? We just hang out and are, what's the word? Oh wait, intimate. That's all. We don't need a date, and what is official?" I ask, completely lost on all these questions. I didn't understand the big deal. Seth and I were attracted to each other, and we act like attracted humans do. Emily seemed unsatisfied with my answer.

"A date as in you spending special time together doing something you both enjoy," she said with a roll of her eyes. As I thought on the concept for a moment before nodding. "Alright, that makes sense. I suppose we do that every day then," I say with a grin before standing up to head to the living room. She sighed and shook her head before returning back to cooking. Seth, Sam, Leah, and Quil eventually came running in. Seth immediately sat beside me and wrapped his arm around my waist, making me grin as I rested my head on his shoulder.

Sam made a sour face, but he didn't say anything as he went to visit Emily. Leah sat down in the chair and rolled her eyes at her younger brother. "I'll tell mom if you don't keep boundaries," she said, making him groan. "Come on, Leah. I never complained when you brought boys home," he whined, making her roll her eyes before she got up to leave. "I don't think Leah likes me," I whispered softly to Seth. He sighed and stroked back a strand of my hair. "Don't worry about it. She doesn't really like anybody," he said, making me frown.

Seth looked around before quickly kissing my lips, forcing me to smile as our lips touched. He broke away slowly and grinned at me. "There, much better," he said with a small laugh as we went back to watching a cartoon. I lost track of time, with my head rested on his shoulder and our hands occasionally touching. This time wasn't necessarily for the cartoons, but was more about being in each other's presence. However, our moment was soon interrupted by Seth suddenly standing up. I looked up at him, confused.

"I'm so sorry, Angel, but I have to go. I promise I won't be long," he said before bending down to kiss my cheek then running off. I looked at where he sat, confused for a moment at his quick departure. For a moment, I thought that perhaps it was something I did, but I knew that couldn't be right. He often had to leave suddenly for work whether we were together or not. Sighing, I settled on questioning him about it later when I noticed his phone laying on the coffee table. No matter where he was going, I assumed he would need that. I quickly ran out the door and looked around, but I couldn't find any traces of Seth.

I walked further out towards the tree line, beginning to think that perhaps he had used one of the trails that surrounded Sam's, but I couldn't find any footsteps or traces of him. I could, however, hear rustling and a tree branch break a few feet away. I began walking in that direction, barely entering the tree line when I noticed clothes laying at my feet. I frowned, noticing the shirt was the same color of Seth's. Confused, I walked forward a little bit more when I heard more rustling.

Nervous, I quickly hid behind a tree and peered out to see a naked backside that resembled that of Seth's, not that I imagined often what his naked backside would look like. I was just about to come out and ask him why he decided to strip in a forest, but he began to violently shake and grunt almost in pain. In barely a blink of an eye, it was as if he exploded into this huge, grey wolf, like the one from my memories and the one from the forest. My eyes widened, and I could feel the phone slip out of my hand and hit the forest floor, rustling the leaves.

The wolf, or Seth, quickly turned to my direction and almost jumped back by the sight of me. I stared in shock as I recalled the exact wolf's snarl and growl from my memories. He stepped forward, but I quickly stepped away before turning around and running as fast as I could with my boot towards the coast's cliffs. In that moment, I didn't care what pain I was feeling or any injury I had sustained. I just wanted to be home again, home in the water. This thought seemed to occupy my mind as I reached the cliffs then fell to the water below.
