Chapter 21: The Mission

A/N: Hey guys just dropping this here to let y'all know that just like with thanksgiving I won't be able to update next week as I will be away with family. That being said thanks to everyone who's still reading and I wish you all happy holidays.

Jason looked around the area below him checking for anyone too important to take out. Not that he actually expected anyone he wasn't aloud to kill to be present, after all it was a routine prisoner transfer. He was on a personal mission from Tamaki to eliminate several less than cooperative employees, notably the warden herself. Apparently she was 'sticking her nose in places above her station' as he put it, so she needed to die. Deciding everyone below was expendable he dropped down and covered his legs in blood before landing crashing into the ground forming a crater and throwing dust into the area around it. Everyone turned in shock at this and at Makina's signal the guards raised their weapons before advancing on his position.

"Do you see anything?"

"No, there's to much of this crap to get a good look." Before anything more could be done Jason jumped towards one of the guards looking more like a blur than anything else. He punched the guard caving in his nose as well as the surrounding area of his skull. the power of the blow sending the corpse to the ground cracking the back of the skull open on the concrete. The second guard raised his SMG and opened fire several rounds landed before Jason's armor had fully formed. The bullets certainly hurt but he had learned to work through pain a long time ago. Walking forward the guard's gun clicked signifying that he was out of ammo. Before he could do anything about that Jason backhanded the man into the nearby electric fence frying him.

"Fall back!" Jason turned back to see the new prisoners, more guards, and Makina running into the prison closing a blast door behind them. He calmly walked forward and examined the massive door, It wouldn't stop him but he'd certainly be slowed down.

Alex Woke up to the feeling of a finger moving along his back tracing something.

"What are you doing?" He asked turning his head to see minatsuki her hand on his back looking at one of his many scars.

"You have a lot of scars." He shrugged, she wasn't wrong, he did indeed have a stupid amount of scars, only about a quarter of which he could actually remember getting. But he didn't mind, he had gotten used to them early on.

"So do you."

"Yeah, but not this many." She looked him up and down, he had large scars spanning all the way from his collar to his thighs. "How'd you get them?" Alex paused, that was a good question, he had no idea how he got most of them.

"Don't remember, maybe Shiro knows." Minatsuki chuckled at that before getting out of bed and walking over to the bathroom. She stopped and turned back to face him.

"I'm taking a shower, wanna join me?" Alex smirked and stood up stretching.

"Sure, sounds fun."

Using all the strength he could Jason pried apart the metal of the blast door only to be met with a firing line of guards, all armed with high caliber all opened fire but Jason raised one hand into the air and his exoskeleton like armor shifted back into him, he allowed the bullets to strike him but didn't even flinch as they tore through his torso and limbs. after about ten seconds of constant fire they stopped and watched him for any reaction. He lowered his arm so that it was pointing at the firing line before shifting the bullets that were still inside of him to fire out of him palm. Now covered in his blood they shot back twice as fast and hard as when they hit him. A few guards tried to run but none made it more than a few feet before getting gunned down. His torn and gutted body then repaired itself the entire chunks of vital organs and muscle that had been blown away reforming until all that was left was his skin which formed a new layer of scar tissue. He didn't mind the scars, he already had more of those than he could count. He was however glad he had opted not to wear his usual outfit for this as his current black combat shirt and pants were unrepairable, the kevlar vest Tamaki had given him hadn't stopped a single bullet. He looked around for his target seeing no signs of her. In response he tilted his head up and closed is eyes before sniffing the air for her sent. Her perfume was rather easy to discern from the sweat, blood, and gunpowder most people would have smelled if they walked in right now. Turning to her direction he casually strolled down the hall, After all he wasn't in any hurry, he could take all day if he wanted.

The sound of fists hitting the punching bag over and over rang out in the gym. Hunter honestly found it a little distracting but wasn't going to tell Senji to stop, that was up there with wave a gun at cops on the 'best ways to get yourself killed' list. So he just focused on lifting the bar, thankfully he had a very strong spotter in Shiro, who was currently cheering him on

"Come on, you're almost there just five more!" Five? Hunter had thought he only had two more. It honestly wasn't that big of a deal but he was already hurting 'so good'. Why had he let Senji talk him into doing this? Muscle wasn't even that important in fights between Deadmen and no one in their right mind was going to fight someone with superpowers so what was the point again? Oh right, it's good for him. His arms were shaking violently as he lifted for the final time and dropped the bar into its resting spot, or whatever it was called Hunter didn't really know or care. He sat up panting and whipped the sweat from his brow. Shiro then patted his back and handed him his water bottle. As he downed half the bottle Senji walked over and gave Hunter a toothy grin

"Good work kid, you did good for a starting set!" Starting set? His arms were on fire!

"That's what you consider starting? I feel like im gonna pass out." Senji laughed at this saying.

"That's how you know you did good." Hunter didn't know enough about working out to argue with that but he certainly wanted to. "Come on kid. Now you need to work on your leg muscles." Hunter REALLY wanted to argue with that. But when Shiro offered him a hand up he knew he didn't really have a choice in the matter.

Jason examined the area, he was currently in the staff cafeteria as he heard something bang against the wall behind him. Turning back he saw the large tenn foot tall dent in the wall, then the Necro Macro burst through the wall and charging right for him. He easily jumped over flipping in the air so that when he landed he was already facing the Crowd control robot as it drifted to turn and face the young man. Then a single rectangular arm dropped and began to loudly hum. Great, a rail gun. Jumping out of the way just before the railgun fired. A massive hole was blown in the wall behind him, okay bullets he could handle but that? He wasn't sure if he could handle a direct hit from that at full strength let alone how he was now, damn Tamaki strengthening his limiter. Regardless, if he avoided getting hit this wouldn't be to big of a challenge. it once again turned to face him but by then he had closed the distance and jumped onto the back cylinder and started prying the metal apart. Having never fought a Necro Macro before he assumed it wouldn't be able to defend itself, he was wrong. Both of the crowd control robots arms raised upward and started humming glancing to his side he saw this and stared in confusion they wouldn't hit him where they were now and a normal person would be able to get away before the rubble from the collapsing ceiling. So what was it's plan? As he wondered armor shifted from the arms and covered the muzzles of the railguns.

"Crap!" He had very little time as he held out both of his arms and created shields. As they finished forming the railguns fired causing an explosion, destroying the middle cylinder he knelt on killing the robot.

From the control room only three doors away Makina watched the event unfold on the screen. The young man stumbled out from the smoke, his arms charred black up to the elbow and his fingers reduced to mere stumps. He got almost a yard before falling face first onto the floor.

"Mam we think we've got a positive ID on the hostile." Makina turned to her subordinate with a raised eyebrow.

"Well, out with it." The man turned a tablet in her direction showing a side by side of security footage of Jason and Alex's mugshot.

"We believe this is prisoner nine-six-six-four." She had to admit they looked very similar, but there were several key differences. First and most noticeably was their eyes, Alex had icy blue eye's but this new hostiles eye's were a crimson red. The intruder also had a few more scars on his face, one on his nose indicating a bad break and one running from his nose to his jawline. Alex only had one, it was on his lip and looked more like it had been busted open.

"No, this is someone else." She said turning back to the screen. "Still I want nine-six-six-four brought in for questioning, reports say he can do something similar." Jason lay on the ground gritting his teeth, that had hurt. In fact it hurt worse than anything he had felt in years, his arms started glowing and his fingers grew back. Like before scar tissue took the place of what had been there before. As he stood he took another smell of the air, then he turned to the direction of the control room and walked. Makina narrowed her eyes at this. "Everyone get ready, he's coming right to us." Several men got into position to open fire the moment he came through the door while others prepared to flank him. Makina's assistant ran closer to the warden asking

"Sir, with all due respect are you sure this is the best decision?"

"Kasuga he's jumped from a two story building, taken hundreds of bullets, and just had two railguns blow up in his face. I have no doubt he's on his last legs." Just then the door flew from it's position and crushed two of the men. While others opened fire two of the braver men ran in from the sides with bayonetts and stabbed into his sides. Jason then formed his exoskeleton armor and reached out grabbing the closer mens throat. He wasted no time and broke their necks before throwing the bodies into the group of soldiers. Slammed his hand onto the ground. About a second later spikes shot out from the ground impaling all of the guards in the formation. However a blade force him to rip his hand off of the ground and roll out of the way. He looked up to see Makina pointing her Katana right at him.

"Stay back, he's mine." Jason glanced around watching for any sign from the men that they would attack him. After deciding that there was none he turned his full attention to the sword wielding warden and formed his spike blade hybrid. The two circled each other neither one in any hurry to make the first move. But eventually Jason ran out a patience and lunged forwards swinging his arm. Makina sidestepped the blow and slashed his side open, Jason turned on his heels and thrust the weapon at Makina but she raised her blade in defence catching one of the blades that protruded from the middle spike and just barely keeping him from stabbing her. However he simply recalled the blades from the spike and shoved it into her shoulder. A yelp of pain escaped her lips before she thrust her sword upwards through his gut and into his heart. His blood instantly lost his form and fell to the ground as he started breathing heavily, this was bad. Direct hits to the heart were one of the few things he couldn't just walk off. Even at his full power this would be enough to take him out of the fight for a bit but now? Now it was almost enough to kill him. Before he could do anything however she pulled her sword out and kicked him onto his back. She turned around and walked away ordering.

"Get him in chaines and put him in the interrogation room, I'll deal with him personally." Jason propped himself up on his elbows before raising his hand up to his earpiece and pressing a button.

"Tamaki I need you to lessen the limiters strength." Hearing this Makina turned back around and glared at him, So the bastard was working for Tamaki. A laugh came from his earpiece before Tamaki said.

"Oh? Are you telling me you can't deal with a twenty year old girl?" First of all she was twenty-five, second of all she was no girl. This was a seasoned soldier with special forces swordsmen training. She had more experience, skill, and possibly even speed over him. "Very well, i'm upping your power limit to fifty-percent." Jason may not have been able to see the changes but he certainly felt them. His veins surged, what little pain there was faded, and things felt much clearer. Makina noticed right away that something was wrong when his irises started to glow and his new scars started to fade, not disappear, just become less noticeable. Makina got back into her stance and prepared to end this once and for all. In under a second he had closed the twenty foot distance and had kicked her legs out from under her. As she fell to her side he turned and side kicked her across the room. Makina slid the last ten feet before crashing into the wall with a dull thud. Jason walked preparing to end things as she tried to get back up. Her arms shook as she tried to push herself up with little success. She barely got to her knees when a hand grabbed her throat and lifted her up to meet him eye level.

"So that's it? Tamaki gives one order and i'm dead?"

"I'm just following orders." He said pulling his hand back preparing to thrust it into her heart. She scoffed at this before taunting him.

"Well, i'm sure Tamaki will be proud of his good little dog." He tightened his grip and snarled at her.

"I am no one's dog! Least of all that freak's!" She just smirked at this and asked.

"Then why are you blindly doing everything he says?" Jason didn't have time to answer this as his earpiece went off and Tamaki's voice spoke.

"Jason, what's the status, Have you taken care of the target?" Jason narrowed his eyes at this, was he really going to kill her just because he gave the order? He had already killed about a dozen guards just to get to her. What was worse, killing someone to protect someone as demented as Tamaki, or stopping here when he had already killed for the order? Making up his mind Jason pressed the button on his earpiece and said.

"Sir, the target escaped." Jason heard a hushed swear as he dropped Makina.

"What? How did that happen?" Thinking fast he lied.

"I was stabbed in the heart and couldn't follow her as she retreated." A groan could be heard as Tamaki seemed to completely believe this report. After all he had never disobeyed a direct order before so what reason did he have to suspect the young man?

"Very well, return to my office immediately and make sure you're not followed." Jason dropped Makina and turned away pressing the button on his earpiece.

"Of course sir."
