A/N: Sorry for the slow pace of this chapter, but important points are made in this chapter.

Picking up shortly after the end of Chapter 2 in Hyrle.

So Midna is currently asleep in Link's bed, Zelda is currently in the library trying to find information on any ancient artefacts that could be used to find Termina and Link was standing at the window of his bedroom, staring out over the city and Hyrle field, reminiscing about the past few hours.

"Where do we go? I have no idea where Termina is. If only I could talk to the Hero of Time, he went to Termina, maybe he could tell me" Link said. Link heard his name being called, and he turned around to see Zelda entering the room.

"Find anything?" Link asked. Zelda shook her head and said "Nothing. As much as I hate to say it, I think there is only one person we know who would have any clue as to the location of any artefacts related to Termina or the Twilight Realm"

"The Hero of Time" Link said, a bit annoyed at the fact he had so far found no information that the Hero of Time had left behind. Zelda, looking at Link, said "And you need to rest, I heard you slept really badly last night due to the bite marks, so you need to rest now". Link shook his head and said "I can't, the pain hasn't abated much so I would still find it difficult to sleep".

Zelda then tuned to Midna, who was fast asleep in Link's bed, and said "Did you let her sleep in your bed or did she just crash there?" to which Link replied with "She just crashed there. I came into my room and she was already asleep, laying on top of my bed. I just set a pillow underneath her head and threw a blanket over her so she would be comfortable and that was it"

"And you're not so tired that you just want to crash like Midna has?" Zelda asked. Link turned back to the window and said "I am very tired, but I can't get to sleep. I've been having trouble sleeping the last few days, maybe it was related to Midna, I don't know. I guess I'm going to find out the next few days". Zelda put a hand on Link's shoulder, turned him around, and said "You can crash in my bed for a couple of hours if you really want to"

"Really? Thanks Zelda" Link said, hugging her. After breaking apart, Link then walked off towards Zelda's room, and within ten minutes, was fast asleep himself. Zelda meanwhile went back to the library to do more research.

A couple of hours later, Midna was floating down towards the library. Where she heard that Zelda was researching stuff related to the Twilight Realm and Termina. As she walked down the stairs, she saw someone asleep in Zelda's room. Midna stopped, and said "Is Zelda asleep?", slowly, Midna crept up towards the bed, and when she arrived near the bed, she saw that Link was actually fast asleep in Zelda's bed, with his hat having fallen off his head. Giggling, Midna placed the hat on Link's head, then sat down on the bed. Midna looked at Link and said "You've done a lot for me, both six months ago and today, and I want to do something for you to repay you for everything you've done for me". Stroking Link's face with her hand, she floated up and left.

Eventually, Midna arrived in the Library, where she quickly found Zelda. Zelda looked at Midna and said "Oh good, you're up". Midna nodded and said "Yes. I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do to help". Zelda gave Midna a fairly large book and said "I'm struggling to translate this, I think it may be possible for you to translate". Midna looked at the book, and opened it to a random page.

"I recognise the writing of this. What parts do you need me to translate?" Midna asked. Zelda replied with "I have bookmarked the pages that I need you to translate, those pages appear to talk about realms". Midna nodded, then said "Alright, so if you could give me pages and ink so I can translate these pages, I could do the full translation of the bookmarked pages in about two hours". Zelda nodded, and said "Alright, good luck" she then left to grab up the paper and ink, and within five minutes, Midna was starting to translate the pages.

About an hour later Link woke up. The pain in his shoulder had sharply decreased, and although he found it hard to not go back to sleep, after rubbing the sleep out of his eyes he climbed out of Zelda's bed and went looking for Zelda and Midna.

Link arrived at the library and quickly found Zelda. Walking up to her, he said "Hello". Zelda turned to him and said "How's your shoulder?". Link rubbed his hand over the spot where the bite marks were and said "Much better. The marks still hurt a bit, but nowhere near the pain of this morning". Link then asked "Where's Midna?". Zelda replied with "She's translating pages from a book I found here". Link nodded, then left to look for Midna.

After a few minutes of searching, Link found Midna part-way through translating the texts. Peering over Midna's shoulder at what she had translated so far, Link was very curious about something called "The Majora's Mask". Midna, noticing Link looking over her shoulder, coolly said "Please don't look over my shoulder, it's distracting". Link stepped back, then said "What's the Majora's Mask?". Midna turned to her translated notes and gave Link both a page of translations and almost two-and-a-half pages of what appeared to be Midna's interpretations of what the pages meant. Looking at Midna, Link asked "Can I show this to Zelda?" to which Midna replied with "Yes". Link nodded, then left.

When he found Zelda a few minutes later, he said "Hey Zelda, have you read this?". Zelda turned to Link, took the papers, and started to read both the translations and the notes, and after a couple of minutes she asked "Where have I read something about the Majora's Mask before?". Link had his answer straight away. "Well, didn't the Hero of Time document his adventures once he left Hyrle?". Zelda thought about this for a moment, then said "Of course, he did!. There's a book in the archives section of the Library called The Adventures of the Legend. The Hero of Time. Wait here". Zelda then ran off towards the Archives section, leaving Link to ponder what Zelda was talking about. If this book existed, Link thought, then The Hero of Time could offer more information about the Majora's Mask.

Link's musings were interrupted by Midna, who had appeared at his shoulder, saying "Are you finished with my notes and translations yet?". Link turned around to face Midna and said "Not yet. But while you're here, could you please wait a few moments? Zelda's just gone to grab something that the Hero of Time had written as it may contain information about The Majora's Mask". Just as Link said that, Zelda returned with an old, tattered looking book. She set it down on a nearby table, and said "Now let's see if he has mentioned The Majora's Mask".Zelda delicately opened the book, and eventually found the first mention of The Majora's Mask. It had been mentioned by a man named "The Happy Mask Salesman".

"I first heard about the Majora's Mask after the Happy Mask Salesman removed the curse that had been placed on me by The Skill Kid. The salesman explained that the mask was an ancient artefact that was used by an Ancient Tribe for it's bewitching rituals, but the mask's wicked power became so great that it was sealed away to prevent a great catastrophe. However, since the ancient tribe vanished, no one accurately knows the true nature of it's power. My first encounter with what I would later learn is the Majora's Mask when I next met the Skull Kid, who was wearing the mask. After I awoke all of the giant's, the mask left the Skull Kid and went into the moon, forcing me to chase it. After fighting through several mini-dungeon versions of the dungeon's I travelled through in Termina, I came upon the Majora's Mask. It had three transformations, most likely from the dark magic it contained. I defeated it, and the Happy Mask Salesman informed me that the evil inside the mask had disappeared. I last saw the mask as the Happy Mask Salesman departed with the Majora's Mask in his hands" Zelda said. After reading it, Midna looked at the Hero of Tme's drawing of the Majora's Mask, took off the Fused Shadows on her head, compared the two, then gasped.

"What is it Midna?" Zelda asked. Midna replied with "Have you looked at the similarities between the Fused Shadows and the drawing of the Majora's Mask?". Link took a step back to compare the two, and said "I don't see it. There are a few markings on Majora's Mask and the Fused Shadows, but other than that, nothing obvious". Midna looked angrily at Link. "Look at the eye, look at how similar Majora's left eye is to the left eye of the Fused Shadows. Link looked closer, and said "If the Fused Shadow's Left Eye is the same size as the Left Eye on the Majora's Mask, then that could be what you're talking about, right?". Midna nodded, and Link said "Now, do we go and destroy the Majora's Mask?", to which both Zelda and Midna nodded. Link then said "But how do we get to Termina?". Link then thought of something. Turning to Zelda, he said "There is someone who may know about Termina, one of his relations apparently talked to the Hero of Time, his name is Auru, and he is currently living in Ordon Village, where my home is". Zelda nodded, and said "Alright Link, see if you can get to that person". Link nodded, and Midna said "You don't live here? I thought you did". Link shook his head and said "I've only been here since Wednesday, just two days ago".Link then thought of something. "Did you know I'm a horserider?" Link asked. Midna shook her head. Link then said "Yeah, you can come and meet my horse f you want". Midna smiled, said "Alright" and they left, leaving Zelda to finish reading the notes left by the Hero of Time.

A/N: Link and Midna will head to Ordon Village at the start of Chapter 4, then the quest begins!
