She had hidden her pregnancy from everyone, but it was coming and she could not deliver where her secret could be revealed. She made her way painfully to deepest, darkest part of the Forest of Merendra. There as the sun set, she gave birth without a speck if light.
It was long and hard. She knew she was torn, meaning she was not going to survive without help. As she held the child for the first time, she saw the a gloden glow from where the babe's eyes were and the bleeding stopped and her strength returned. Her heart broke knowing if it had magic, she could not take the infant back to Ealdor.
With heavy heart, she bundled the baby in her headscarf and laid it on the ground by the afterbirth. She didn't check if it was a girl or boy, knowing would only hurt her more. She left the babe, without ever looking on its face, but it was better this way she thought as she returned home.

The Vilia of the nearby stream had felt Emrys's birth. His power resonated with that of the tree around him. Despite their deep desire to gaze upon him, they waited until he was left alone in their care to make themselves known.
Emrys was raised by the Sidhe, Pixies, Fairies, Elves, Vilia, and spirits of Druids long dead. He was as a king to them, an immortal champion for magic and nature. The boy grew without once harming anything around him. He was the balance the world needed for true harmony.
The forest itself protected its savior. It gave him shelter, warmth, protection from the seasons and elements. The fowls of the air brought him fruits, the rabbits and squirrels gave him nuts, and the bee gifted him honey. He was never in want of anything.
They all cared for him. They gave him affection and companionship. They loved him as one of their own and he felt the same about them. They were family.
Seasons flew by like leaves on the wind, but they seemed to have no affect on Emrys. The animals and trees grew old and let new life replace them. He would mourn their passing and rejoice in the next generation's birth.
After much time, the spirits living amongst Emrys and the forest called upon him and asked him to join them as a true spirit. He agreed, having no real ties to his humanity. That day, eons after his birth, Emrys shed his form and became a creature of pure, unadulterated magic that stay and tend the forest until the end of time and magic.
