Meanwhile with Link:
Link had decided to borrow a book from the library while he waited for the return of both Midna and Zelda. But it wasn't any ordinary book. It was called The Adventures of the Legend: The Hero of Time, the book that Zelda had shown them earlier. Sitting down and setting the book down very carefully, he opened the book and started reading. He read for quite a while, and he began to suspect that the group that the Hero of Time was talking about was the Twili, the same Twili that had threatened Hyrle long ago.
"It would make sense for the Mask of Majora to be one of the dark artefacts that the Twili used in their dark magic rituals. But what sense can I make of this? I'm going to need Midna to help me with this" Link said.
Meanwhile back in the Cavern of Fire.
Midna and Zelda were standing at the cave entrance to the Cavern of Fire. They heard a large roar echo from the other side of the cavern, and almost immediately two large Fire Snakes appear and charge at them. Zelda Teleported out of the way while Midna floated between them. Zelda fired off a dark spear attack at the Fire Snake, knocking it back but not killing it. The second Snake lunged at Zelda, this time the Snake caught Zelda's arm, knocking 2 hearts out of Zelda's health, reducing her to 14 hearts. Midna fired off her electrical attack, taking the first Fire Snake out. The second Fire Snake was taken down by Zelda's Spear attack. With both out of the way, Zelda cast a spell to recover the two hearts she had lost.
"A healing spell?" Midna asked. Zelda replied with "Yes, I learned that recently" Midna nodded, then saw the floating rocks in the lava pit. Midna looked at Zelda, and said "Well, looking at the distance, it does look like it was a good idea not for Link to come along. He has no chance to make that jump, even in his wolf form" Zelda nodded, and they floated onto the platforms. Almost immediately, the fireballs are shot from cannons nearby at them. Midna caught it and sent it back at them, but took 1 heart of damage in the radiative heat, knocking Midna down to 15 hearts. Zelda reflected it back at the cannon, taking both cannons out. Zelda and Midna the reached the top of the platforms, and found themselves in a second level of the cavern, facing a series of circles, with a stone in the middle.
"Is that the stone we're looking for?" Midna asked, pointing to a stone sitting half-immersed in the lava. Zelda took out a scanner, and scanned it. The result that came back was an Abanaka stone. Midna, seeing this, said "Well, that seems to the stone" however their conversation was cut short by the appearance of a Fire Goron, with the stone appearing on his head. Smiling, the Fire Goron threw the stone up, and it became suspended on a hook.
"Alright, so do we have to defeat this guy?" Zelda asked. The Fire Goron nodded, then rolled at them. Zelda went to the left, Midna went to the right, and the Fire Goron began chasing Midna. Midna jumped to the next ring, and was surprised to see the Fire Goron leaping onto the same ring that she was on. Midna then got an idea. She leapt to the second smallest ring, which the Fire Goron did, then she leapt from one side of that ring to the other, using her floating ability, and the Fire Goron attempted to make the jump, but while he managed to hit Midna, dealing 5 hearts of damage to her and dropping her down to 10 hearts, the height of hitting Midna meant that the Fire Goron lost all of his momentum, and as a result, missed the circular rock formation, and fell into the lava, leaping out of it, losing a quarter of its hearts in health, going from 24 hearts to 18 hearts.
"So, we have to do that four times to take this fire Goron out?" Zelda asked. Midna turned back to Zelda and said "Yes, that's what it looks like. I do have a bad feeling that he's not going to let that work again" to which Zelda nodded. This time, the Fire Goron charged at Zelda. While she moved around to avoid being hit, Midna came up with a devious plan. Using two of the platforms from nearby, she telepathically created a set of stairs. She placed them next to where the Fire Goron was charging at Zelda, and while she avoided it, the Fire Goron clipped them, sending him careening into the Lava, knocking 6 more hearts out of him, dropping to 12 hearts.
As the Fire Goron leapt out of it, a shaking noise started. Zelda and Midna saw a large lava wave come at them. Knowing what they had to do, they leapt at the hook containing the stone, and managed to avoid the wave. The Fire Goron managed to escape using a large rock formation to hide behind. As he came out, he yelled, to apparently, no one "What the hell? Warn me next time you fire one of those waves off" this for a moment puzzled both Zelda and Midna, then a gravelly voice came back, saying "You know those waves come at certain intervals, remember?" the Fire Goron facepalmed, then said "I wasn't sure how often those waves came through" the gravelly voice then said, "Once an hour, every hour on the O'clock" and the Fire Goron repeated that. Finally, the gravelly voice said, "Now get back to beating those fools" to which the Fire Goron said "Alright boss" before taking his battle pose.
"That, was close" Midna said. Zelda and her then floated down to the ground, and the battle continued. The Fire Goron charged at them, and they floated away in opposite directions. This time the Fire Goron went after Zelda, who easily avoided his rolling. She decided to stand right at the edge of the arena, all but over the lava, and wait for the Fire Goron to charge. He did as she had hoped, and she leapt over him, although she took 1 heart in damage from the radiant heat, dropping her to 15 hearts, while the Fire Goron dropped into the lava and lost another 6 hearts.
"One hit left" Zelda called as the Fire Goron leapt back onto the arena. Midna nodded, then the Fire Goron, enraged by him losing, pounded the ground as hard as he could, causing two of the rings to fall into the lava. Gritting her teeth, Midna said "That's going to make things more difficult" to which Zelda nodded. The Fire Goron started rolling again, once again straight at Zelda, who only just avoided him.
"Got a plan?" Zelda called to Midna. Midna, who had also just avoided his rolling, called back "Distract him, I'll carry out what I have planned" Zelda did as she was told, firing off magic bolts at him. The 4 bolts did 1 heart of damage, reducing the Fire Goron to 5 hearts. This gave Zelda and idea. Calling back to Midna, she said "Midna, you distract him. I'll magic bolt him" Midna nodded, then used electricity to draw his attention. Zelda fired off bolt after bolt, eventually finishing the Fire Goron.
"NNNNNOOOOOOO!" The Fire Goron said as he disintegrated, allowing Zelda and Midna access to the Abanaka Stone. Picking it up telepathically, Zelda examined it.
"It looks just like the stone as it was described, so what do we do?" Midna asked. Zelda replied with "Take it with us" and with a tap of her wand it shrunk to the size of a golf ball, and Zelda placed it into a small, purified plastic bag, then made it her latest item. Midna, noticing a heart container, grabbed it, restoring both their HP stats, and adding another piece towards another heart. Then, Zelda saw something. Crystals.
"Midna, look" Zelda said, pointing at the crystals. Midna looked, then said "Crystals. So what?" to which Zelda replied with "It looks like they make some stairs" to which Mdna replied with "They do too". At this, Zelda said "Let's keep moving". Midna nodded, and they continued into the cavern.
"Grr, they got past the Fire Goron. Well, they may have been able to defeat him, but let's see if they can get here" Normak said, watching them progress. He smiled malevolently, then said "Now let's see if they can handle THIS" and he pressed a button. What it was used for became clear a few seconds later, when a huge fall of hot rocks came down towards Zelda and Midna. They ran for it, moving as fast as they could float, but when they realised that they weren't going to outrun it, Midna created a small alcove to avoid it, narrowly avoiding damage. When they climbed back out, they climbed onto the rocks, and headed for the crystal.
After a moment, they arrived at the crystals. And immediately several fire creatures came out of the lava and attacked them. Zelda and Midna avoided it, then Midna used her magic to damage them. Zelda speared one with her staff. She was bitten by one of the fire creatures, causing 4 hearts of damage to Zelda, reducing her hearts to 12. Midna took out the first one, but got struck by another fire creature, also dealing another 4 hearts, leaving her with 12 hearts. After Zelda and Midna destroyed the last creatures, they heal back to 16 hearts. Midna then notices a key. She picks it up, and looks around. Directly across from her is a door. She puts the key in the door and opens it. Inside, is a room just like she was in with Link in the Poison Temple.
"Oh no, where are they going? How did I not know about this room?" Normak roared as he watched Zelda and Midna enter the room. Banging his fist, he beckons another Fire Goron to roll out and attempt to destroy the door and find out what's inside.
"What is this place?" Zelda asked. Midna turned to face Zelda, and said "This is just like the chamber that Link and I were in when we were in the Poison Temple. And just like there, it's all in Twili" Midna looked around the chamber, she came across a similar set of notes to those she had seen in the Poison Temple. Putting out a flute, she played each note. The tune played around them, and Midna felt a major surge of power flow through her. A message in her ear said, "You now have the power to properly fight Normak". Midna nodded, then said "Do you know any spells that can reduce the damage that you take in battle against Normak, or allow you to avoid his attacks?"
"Provided they're not area of effect I can teleport away from them. I also have floating abilities, and I can cast a defensive spell to reduce the damage we take by half" Zelda replied. Midna nodded, and Zelda said, "By the way, I have the key we need to get into Normak's chambers" she then took the key out of her pocket and showed it to Midna.
"Great" Midna said. She then saw the door get knocked down. Immediately, Midna said "Zelda move" and she obliged. Midna then cast the first spell that she thought off, a Knockback spell, and knocked the Fire Goron into the lava. Due to Midna's increased power, and the Fire Goron's lower Hit Points, he didn't shoot out. Horrified, Normak said "WHAT? Midna seems to have gotten stronger somehow. Well if anything that's even better, because it means that she'll actually be a challenge to capture" he then stood up, and waited for Zelda and Midna to arrive.
As Zelda and Midna arrived at the entrance to the boos lair, Zelda put the Boss Key she had in her pocket in the keyhole. Turning it, the door opened.
"Well, here we go. Normak's waiting for us, I just hope that you'll be able to avoid him long enough for me to take him out" Midna said as the door opened. Zelda nodded, and said "I'll do my best to make sure I don't get in the way. I saw that spell, you're way more power than me right now"
"It won't be for too long though, it's you and Link's turn at the next dungeon, and you'll be the one who gets the massive powerup" Zelda replied. Midna then said, "Hope not" and they entered.
