As the four of them descended from Hyrule into Termina, Link looked back at the entrance, and, to his shock, saw the blocks of time returning to their original places.
"How incredible is the Hero of Time?" Link asked, to which Zelda replied "I've read about him. From what I've read, the Hero of Time was as incredible as the authors have said he is". Just before they land, Midna asked: "How many temples are there in Termina?"
"Four" Astron said, but when he saw the looks on Zelda's, Link's and Midna's face, he said "Don't worry, I have already defeated the Water Temple. However, the other two temples require three people to complete" Astron said as they descended. Zelda replied with "We figured that these temples with require three people. But how did you defeat the Water Temple by yourself?"
"It took a while, but I managed in the end" Astron replied.
Soon, the four of them arrive at a series of ledges that had Deku Flowers on them, Astron said "Now, we're going to have to move across these ledges. Midna and Zelda, the three of us will float across. Link, you transform into Wolf Link and leap across them"
"Alright" Link replied. He then transformed into Wolf Link, and Astron, Zelda, and Midna start floating across. Midna stays back to guide Link, and soon, they were on the other side of the area.
"So, is this another passageway?" Zelda asked to which Astron nodded. Link returned to his human form, and the four of them headed down the passageway.
Soon, the four of them arrived at the entrance to Clock Town.
"It's been a century since the Hero of Time visited Termina, I wonder how much Termina had changed" Zelda said. Astron replied with "Well, how about you find out", and at this, he created a portal on the door, and the four of them passed through into Clock Town.
Immediately, Link and Zelda both felt their jaws drop. The ground was no longer dirt or brick, the ground was now obviously concrete. But that was nothing, most of the buildings seemed to be a mix of brick and steel.
"Whoa! This is totally unlike what I was expecting" Zelda said, shocked by the industrialisation of Clock Town to which Astron replied with "Even better, look at the clock tower" and when they did, they were shocked to discover that the clock tower had undergone a complete redo, and now, not only was the clock tower a mix of metal and brick, but a third of its clock was filled in green.
"Amazing. I have one question though, why is it that a third of the clock is filled in?" Zelda asked, to which Astron replied "I suspect it's because I've defeated one of the three dungeons that are stopping us from getting to the Stone Tower"
"So, where do we go?" Link asked, to which Astron replied "I think we had better wait until tomorrow before we attack", to which Link, Zelda, and Midna nodded.
"So, we just need to find a hotel or somewhere to sleep?" Midna asked, to which Astron nodded. The four of them head for Eastern Clock Town.
As they walk through Eastern Clock Town, they notice that the concrete ground present in the ground, the buildings are a little older, but still made of similar stuff.
"So, where's the Stock Pot Inn?" Zelda asked, to which Astron replied "Over there" while pointing towards a multi-story steel building with an old bell in front of it.
"Have you booked us in?" Midna asked, to which Astron replied: "I booked four as a precaution because I had a feeling that Zelda would be accompanying you two".
"Thanks" both Midna and Link replied. Soon, they arrived at the entrance to the building and, after a few moments, they enter.
"Hello, Astron" the attendant said as the four of them entered. Astron replied "I booked four beds for a few nights, starting tonight, under the name Astron"
"Astron, ah yes. How many nights was it?" the attendant asked, to which Astron replied "Three"
"OK, that'll be a total of 400 rupees" the attendant said, and Astron grabbed his Almighty Rupee Bag (which holds 9001 rupees) and pulls 400 rupees out of it to pay the attendant.
"Thanks" the attendant said. She then grabbed four keys and said "Second floor, rooms six through ten are free"
"Thanks" Astron said, and the four of them headed upstairs.
About two hours later, Link suddenly awakens. He isn't sure what has awoken him, but quickly, he heard footsteps outside his door. Climbing out of bed, he crept to the door and opened it gently to see who was walking by. He was surprised to see Midna walking down the hall.
"Where are you going Midna?" Link asked before he decided to follow her.
After a few minutes, Link found Midna standing out the front of the Stock Pot Inn, just behind the bell.
"Midna?" Link asked as he arrived, both a concerned look and voice.
"Link? What are you doing here?" Midna asked, surprised by Link's appearance. Link stood next to Midna, and said: "What are you doing out here?"
"I can't sleep" Midna replied. Link replied with "Why?"
"I can sense Zant, and something else, a force of pure evil, and, I'm, scared" Midna said, unable to keep the fear out of her voice. Link nodded, then said "If I'm hearing you right, you can sense Zant and a force of pure evil, and that's what's scaring you" to which Midna nodded. Link took Midna's hand in his own, causing both to blush furiously. Link then turned Midna to face him, and said, "It's perfectly fine to be scared Midna, I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, but we're here for you, alright We'll work together on this, just like we did six months ago". Remembering their previous adventure, Midna took a steadying breath, then smiled, and said, "Thanks Link" before she hugged him, which Link gladly returned.
"Let's get some rest, we're going to need it" Link said, and when they broke apart, Midna nodded, and they headed back.
While Midna headed back to her room, Link quickly crept to Zelda's room to check on her. Gently opening the door slightly, Link saw that Zelda was still, at least seemingly, asleep. Link then returned to his room, and quickly falling asleep, his own nerves soothed slightly by his discussion with Midna.
When Link awoke the following morning he decided to go and check on both Zelda and Midna. Firstly, he went off to check on Zelda. As he knocked on the door, Zelda said "Come in"
"Hey, Link" Zelda said. She seemed to be largely rested, and she asked "Link, you still look very tired. How about you go back to sleep for a couple of hours?"
"Do I look that bad?" Link asked, to which Zelda nodded, then said "It's only about 8 am. I know you and Midna went out the front of the Inn during the early hours of the morning"
"Oh? You heard that?" Link asked, to which Zelda nodded. Link yawned, stretched, then said "Alright, I'll just check on Midna quickly"
"She's still asleep, Astron checked already" Zelda said. Link nodded, then left. Within ten minutes, he had fallen asleep again.
At about 9 am, Link awoke again. This time, he noticed somebody was fast asleep next to him. He looked around and saw Midna fast asleep next to him. Link wrapped his arms around Midna and allowed her to snuggle up with him. Smiling, he fell asleep again.
After about another hour, Link finally awakens. Initially, Link forgot who was sleeping next to him, but then he looked around him and saw Midna awaken.
"Midna" Link said, smiling. Midna looked up at Link, blushing, and said "Sorry"
"Don't worry Midna, we'd better get down to breakfast, and get ready to head out" Link said. Midna nodded, they got out of bed, then Midna headed back to her room, while Link got changed. Soon, they headed down to breakfast.
About half an hour later, Link, Zelda, Midna, and Astron were standing out the front of the Inn, and Link asked "So, where do we go?" to which Astron replied "We must go way south, beyond the swamp, until we reach the Woodfall Temple"
"OK" Midna said, and they headed out.
Soon, they arrived in Termina field.
"Is it just me, or am I getting serious Hyrule Deja vu here?" Link asked. That wasn't the big shock. The big shock came when Midna said "I'm getting Twilight Realm flashbacks here too. I don't know why, I just am", and this Astron confirmed.
"OK, that's really weird. I know the Hero of Time mentioned that he got major Hyrule Deja vu when he arrived, but for Twili to have Deja vu too, that's really creepy" Zelda replied. As they continued southward, the area became more and more swamp-like. However, Astron began to sense dark magic ahead.
"Uh, I think I should probably stay back. I'm nowhere near as strong as you three, and that dark magic reading I'm sensing is really high" Astron said. Midna turned to face Astron and said "Head back to Clock town, you'll be safe there"
"Alright, I will milady. Are you going to be OK without me?" Astron asked, to which Midna replied: "I'll be fine". Astron then headed back.
The only major difference in the Southern Swamp, aside from the sudden change in the sky, kinds like Carliko's, only it was perpetually overcast instead of black, was that the platform that the Swamp Tourist Center was not situated on what looked like a Stainless Steel platform.
"So, do we go in here?" Link asked, to which Zelda replied "I guess", and so they did.
When they entered, they saw a strange figure sitting in a straw-like hut on the side of the building.
"Why are you three here?" the figure asks, to which Link replied "We're looking for a way to the Woodfall Temple"
"Ah, in order to access the Woodfall Temple, you need to head to the Deku Palace. You will need a boat for that. I should warn you, though. Once again, the water is poisonous, so watch your step. The boat is about to leave"
"Thanks" Link said. He beckoned to Zelda and Midna, and they followed the strange figure out.
One boat ride to the Deku Palace later, the three of them were standing in front of the Palace, which looked almost completely unchanged.
Upon disembarking, the three of them encounter a white monkey.
"You three have strange powers, no? This swamp has been poisoned. By people not dissimilar from the girl over there" the monkey said, pointing at Midna as he finished.
"This'll be the work of Zant and his evil mobs" Midna said in disgust. The monkey then ran inside, and they followed,
When they arrived at the entrance, it was still very similar to what it was 100 years ago. Except for one thing. Th walls were now a mix of concrete and brick, not wood. As they approach the Deku scrubs, one of them said "Stop! State your business" however, at that moment, the king walked out of the palace to greet them.
"I need to see them, Deku guards, now let them through" the king said. The Deku's nodded, then dropped back into their flowers, allowing Link, Zelda, and Midna to cross.
"How did you know we were coming, your majesty?" Link asked, to which the king replied "The monkey saw you three enter the tourist center and heard the Woodfall temple be mentioned. I'm guessing that's why you're here?"
"Yes, your majesty" Zelda replied.
Soon, they arrived at the Royal Chamber, where more Deku's were waiting for them.
"So First off, what are your names?" the king asked, to which Link firstly replied "Link, your majesty"
"Link, eh? You have the same name as the guy who saved my ancestors a century ago" the king said. Link replied with "Well I am descended from him, so it isn't surprising"
"Now, what is the name of this fair princess?" the king asked. Zelda replied "Your majesty, my name is Princess Zelda"
"Princess Zelda. You wouldn't happen to have any relation to Link here, would you?" the king asked, to which Zelda replied "Sort of. There are three of us. Link, Zelda, and Ganon, who are all revived in an endless loop about once every four generations to do battle again. It's a legend back in our world"
"Alright" the king said. He then turned to face Midna, and said "And what is your name? You seem to share a race with the scum who have poisoned the water around here" the King said. Midna replied with "Your Majesty, I'm Princess Midna. I want to see these scumbags destroyed as much as you do, the only thing I share with them is that we're from the same place, that is all"
"OK" the king replied. He then said "Now, I shall provide the three of you access to the Woodfall Temple pathway, that usually is restricted to Deku Scrubs, but I have a way to get around that for you three. Give me a moment, I'll be back" the king said. He then departed but returned a few minutes later with a strange, wooden staff.
"Follow me" the king said.
Soon, they had returned to the entrance of the palace. The king walked half-way across the bridge, and played the Song of Paths, using the staff, which also doubled as a whistle. They then crossed the path that appeared, and Link noticed, as they approached the ledge that split the Woodfall path from the rest of the area, that stairs were forming there.
"Thanks" Link said as they reached the ledge. The king replied "Don't mention it, just get this water cleared up:
"Sure will" Zelda said, and with that, they went their separate ways.
Upon entry into the path, they see several large, flower-like plants with Deku Flowers on them. Also, a large gaggle of small Chaos Dragonflies was waiting for them.
"Here we go" Link said as they charged them. Link and Zelda fired arrows at the dragonflies, forcing them to scatter. Midna started firing magic bolts at them, and Zelda assisted, with Link firing arrows to keep the dragonflies busy while Zelda and Midna struck them down one by one. Link even managed to take a few down himself. After several tense moments, the swarm of chaos dragonflies had all been destroyed.
"Now what?" Link asked, to which Zelda replied "Midna and I will float over to the lily pad-like flower. Then, you transform into Wolf Link and leap across. Sound good?"
"Sounds good" Link replied. He then transformed into Wolf Link and watched as Zelda and Midna both floated over to the first flower. Wolf Link then leaped over to them, after a quick running start. Zelda and Midna did this twice more, and Link followed twice more. However, when they got to the third flower, another, bigger dragonfly, appeared.
"One more obstacle" Zelda said as Link returned to his human form. The three of them then engaged it. Two magic bolts and an arrow struck, and in total did 10 hearts of damage, reducing the Dragonfly to ten hearts. The dragonfly countered by firing blade-like blasts of air at them. Link deflected them with his shield, though all three of them still took a heart of damage each from the attacks, reducing them to thirty-four hearts, after another double magic bolt and arrow combo, the dragonfly was dead. It dropped three hearts, restoring the heart that each of them lost. They then continued, with Link returning to his wolf form, and soon, they were at a somewhat familiar entrance. When they entered the hole in the tree, they found themselves at Woodfall.
"Well, the temple's somewhere around here" Midna said. Link nodded, then said "But where?". At this, Zelda smiled and said "We need a song to reveal it. Unfortunately, I could find no records of the song the Hero of Time used".
"Well, we'll just have to look for it" Link said. They then headed off, riding the lily pads and climbing the fallen tree logs, making sure not to fall into the poisonous water.
Soon, after more floating and transformations between Wolf and Human Link, they found a Deku Scrub mark. And, on each pillar of the place of worship, a note.
"There are four notes here. How do we know which order they're in though?" Link asked. He looked at the pedestal and saw four faint lines, each pointing to one of the pillars. And in Twili, numbers.
"Hey Midna, I've found more numbers here, but they're in Twili. Can you decide them?" Link asked, to which Midna nodded, and looked. She then said "The North-Western pillar is note 1. The south-Eastern pillar is note 2. The north-Eastern pillar is note 3. The south-Western pillar is note 4"
"Great" Zelda said, getting out a notebook and noting them down. Midna, on closer examination, noticed something odd.
"There appear to be three more lines. One going due north, and one due South" she said.
"They're not on the pedestal, but they may point to the other three notes we need" Link said. Midna then looked at the Twili number on each end, and said "The last three notes are all due north, but I didn't see any notes on the wall"
"I did, but only when I was Wolf Link" Link replied. He then said "I remember those last three notes. A, C-Stick Right, A In that order. Note them down please Zelda"
"Alright" Zelda replied, and she noted them down. She then showed the notes to Link, and Link played the song, the Sonata of Awakening, on his Ocarina. And the Woodfall temple slowly rose up from the depths.
"Well, this is it. It's time to enter the Woodfall Temple" Link said. Zelda and Midna nodded, A bridge of light then appeared in front of them, connecting the place of worship to the temple. Link, Zelda, and Midna then crossed it and entered the temple.
