When Link, Zelda, and Midna enter the boss room, they find themselves in a strange, octagonal room with purple brick walls. The ground had all sorts of patterns on them. There was a definite tribal theme to this room, amplified even further by the pillars on the other side of the room, which had faces on them, and the big butterfly on the wall on the other side.
"So, where's the boss?" Link asked. He then looked up, and saw, to his shock, an enormous Chaos Dragon leap down at them.
"So, you three have made it this far, impressive. But, how will you fare, against the power of ME?" The dragon said. He then roared and flew up into the sky. Zelda and Midna immediately fire magic bolts at him but find that the armor he's wearing makes him immune to magical attacks.
"Looks like I'll be facing him myself" Link said. Both Zelda and Midna nodded, then said "Be careful"
"I will" Link said as he approached the dragon.
"Just because I'm nice, I'll tell you now. If you can do fifty hearts of damage to me, you will destroy my armor. However, I will also tell you now, Link. Once you do break my armor, you're useless. My hide is immune to everything except magic and even then, only Twili magic will affect me for a while, then only the Realm of Light magic will affect me for a while" the dragon said.
"OK, so we're taking you on, basically one at a time" Link said. The Dragon replied "Pretty well"
Phase 1: Link VS Draconius, the Chaos Dragon
Draconius flew up high, then rained fireballs down at Link, who leaped around to avoid them. Then, Draconius swung his tail down at Link, which he blocked with his sword. Link fired off an arrow, which caught Draconius' tail, dealing 5 hearts of damage to Draconius, reducing him to one hundred and forty-five hearts.
"Not bad so far" Draconius said. He then did a dive attack at Link, and he blocked the dive attack using his shield, though he was knocked back, dealing 4 hearts in damage, reducing him to thirty-six hearts. Dragonius then fired another fireball at Link, and he barely avoided the fireball. As Dragonius charged in at Link, he struck hard with his sword and felt it connect, knocking the dragon back and dealing five hearts of damage to Dragonius, reducing it to one hundred and forty hearts.
"Not bad" Dragonius said. He then raced up and fired off more fireballs. Link dodged them, and fired back with arrows, with one of them hitting his wing, dealing five more hearts, reducing him to one hundred and thirty-five hearts. This, however, left Link exposed to being struck by Dragonius' tail, dealing ten hearts to damage, reducing Link to twenty-six hearts.
"LINK!" Midna and Zelda yelled. Dragonius fired off more fireballs, which Link avoided.
"Take THIS!" Link said, shooting more arrows at Dragonius, another two hitting him, dealing ten hearts of damage, reducing him to one hundred and twenty-five hearts. Dragonius then swung his tail out at Link, which he blocked, though he was pushed into the wall, dealing two hearts of damage to Link, reducing him to twenty-five hearts. However, this gave an opportunity to strike with his sword, dealing five more hearts of damage, reducing Dragonius to one hundred and twenty hearts. Dragonius then rose up high into the air and fired off more fireballs at Link. Once he'd finished firing fireballs, Dragonius charged in and met Link's sword with his claws. Link smacked his Shield into Dragonius, which forced him back, though it did no damage. Link raced in and stabbed him with his sword twice, dealing ten hearts of damage and reducing Dragonius to one hundred and ten hearts.
"No, I won't lose" Dragonius said as he leaped back into the air. However, this gave Link enough time to fire an arrow into him, dealing five hearts of damage to Dragonius, reducing him to one hundred and five hearts. Dragonius then started rapid-firing fireballs down at Link, forcing him to race around the arena, avoiding his attacks. Link prepared an arrow, then, when he got a slight chance, he fired the arrow. They were both hits, Dragonius by the arrow, dealing five hearts of damage to Dragonius and destroying his armor, while Link took five hearts of damage, reducing him to twenty hearts.
"Alright. Zelda, Midna, test" Link said as he retreated, breathing heavily. Zelda fired a magic bolt at Dragonius, but it did no damage.
"So, for now, I'll face Dragonius" Midna said. She approached Dragonius, and said "Let's go"
Phase 2: Dragonius VS Midna and Zelda (Alternating).
Dragonius leaped up into the air and started firing fireballs at Midna, which she avoided. Midna barely saw Dragonius' tail in time to avoid it. She quickly struck out with her staff, dealing five hearts of damage, reducing Dragonius to ninety-five hearts.
"Take this!" Dragonius said, swinging a giant fist at Midna. She dodged, and she also dodged the second fist. However, she as caught out when Dragonius crossed his arms, striking her and dealing six hearts of damage to Midna, reducing her to thirty-four hearts. Midna recovered quickly, and fired an energy bolt at Dragonius, dealing five hearts of damage and reducing Dragonius to ninety hearts.
Suddenly, Dragonius' scales darkened significantly.
"Alright, looks like it's my turn to fight him for a bit" Zelda said. Midna nodded and pulled back while Zelda approached him.
"So, you've figured out how my scales change color?" Dragonius said. Zelda nodded, and Dragonius immediately lunged at her, she barely avoided it and managed to get a strike on Dragonius with her staff, dealing five hearts of damage, reducing him to eighty-five hearts. Dragonius then launched a fireball at Zelda, and since it was at point-blank range, Zelda had no chance to defend herself, and took ten hearts of damage, reducing her to thirty hearts. Dragonius charged at her with another lunge attack, but Zelda used a bounce-back spell to send him flying into the opposite wall, dealing ten hearts of damage and reducing Dragonius to seventy-five hearts. Dragonius' scales went light again, leaving Zelda unable to damage him.
"Alright Midna, your turn" Zelda said. Midna nodded and approached him as Zelda retreated.
"Ugh, that I didn't expect. Smart move" Dragonius said. He then leaped back up, and, once again, rapidly fired fireballs at Midna. Midna moved quickly to avoid the fireballs, before managing to shoot a magic bolt at him, which missed. Though it forced Dragonius to stop firing his fireballs to dodge it. This allowed Midna to fire a more powerful magic blast at him, dealing ten hearts of damage to Dragonius, reducing him to sixty-five hearts. However, having to stop moving, she took indirect damage from the fireball fired on her, dealing six hearts of damage, reducing Midna to twenty-eight hearts. Again, Dragonius' scales turned dark, and Dragonius turned around to face Zelda.
"OK, how are you doing that? Is that your secret power?" Zelda asked, to which Dragonius nodded. He then swung his tail at Zelda, which she avoided, but couldn't stop the fireball that struck her, dealing ten hearts of damage, reducing Zelda to twenty hearts.
"ARGH!" Dragonius said as he shot the fireball at Zelda, as Zelda slashed his tail with her staff, dealing five hearts to Dragonius, reducing him to sixty hearts.
"Take this!" Zelda said, firing a magic bolt at Dragonius, who responded by soaring into the air. Zelda was ready and shot another powerful energy bolt at Dragonius, which connected, and brought him to the ground, reducing him to fifty hearts.
"Not bad, you've got me down two-thirds of my health. Now, let's see if you can handle my final move" Dragonius said. He leaped up into the air, roared, and Link, Zelda, and Midna found themselves on three of only about twelve platforms.
"What did he just do?" Zelda asked, to which Link replied "I think he just destroyed most of the arena"
"Now, let's see how you handle my powers now" Dragonius said. Link leaped over to Zelda and said "I just thought of something. Do you think you can magic-tip my arrows or something?"
"I can try, but I think Midna would be best" Zelda said. But they had to move, as fireballs rained down on them. Midna fired energy bolts at him, but Dragonius avoided them, and struck Midna with his tail, dealing six hearts of damage and reducing Midna to twenty-two hearts. Midna finally got a magic bolt shot on Dragonius, dealing five hearts of damage, reducing him to forty-five hearts and making his scales turn dark.
"Now" Zelda said, casting a small amount of magic onto Link's arrow. He shot it at Dragonius and, at the same time, Zelda fired a powerful magic bolt at Dragonius, dealing a combined twenty hearts of damage to him, reducing Dragonius to twenty-five hearts.
"Damn you" Dragonius said. He did a hugs tail swing attack, striking Zelda and Midna, with Link barely avoiding it. Zelda and Midna both took six hearts of damage, reducing Midna to sixteen hearts and Zelda to fourteen, while Link took one heart of damage, reducing him to nineteen hearts.
"Take this" Zelda said as the tail came back at her, she struck him with her staff, dealing five hearts of damage, reducing him to twenty hearts, and stopped him from swinging.
Dragonius then raced upwards and started raining fireballs at them, but Link, Zelda, and Midna all avoided them. Midna and Zelda rapidly fired magic bolts at him, alternating as they hear each one hit. The first one, from Midna, did five heart of damage, reduced Dragonius to fifteen hearts and darkening his scales, then Zelda's bolt did five more hearts, reducing Dragonius to ten hearts and lightening his scales. One more attack from each of Zelda and Midna defeated Draconius, causing the ground to return and Draconius to fall to the ground.
"You, defeated me. Well, done. You, may be, able, to, defeat, Zant, after, all. Thanks, too, you, the water, is, no, longer, poisonous" Dragonius said. He then disappeared, leaving a dragon mask behind.
"So, he was only a mask after all" Link said. Zelda then replied "The fact that the enemy has discovered how to do this is actually very scary"
"Right" Midna said. She then took the mask, and the innocent spirit was released. And when it did, it flew off and headed to clock town, where it flew into the face, and the second chunk of it turned green.
"They did it" Astron said as the second chunk went green.
At the same time, the water turned from a poisonous purple to a pure blue, as the poison was flushed away.
"Well, two things. Firstly, we now know Zant's behind this. And secondly, we have one more room to go through" Link said, pointing to the door that was now visible.
"Well, let's go" Zelda said and they entered the room.
In the final room, there was just one chest. When they opened it, they discovered that there was a large piece of a strange mask inside it.
"What is it?" Link asked, to which Midna replied: "Astron might know, we'd better show it to him". Zelda nodded, and they departed.
Shortly after leaving the Woodfall Temple, Link, Zelda and Midna had arrived back at the Royal Chamber, where the Deku King was waiting for them.
"Well done you three, thank you for destroying the villainous creature that was causing the water around this area to be made poisonous, well done" the Deku King said, to which all three of them replied "Thank you, your majesty"
"Now, I believe that you have something?" the Deku King asked, to which Link replied by showing the piece of a mask to him.
"GASP! The Fierce Deity's Mask! So that's what was inside the temple? I heard that long ago the Fierce Deity's mask was broken into three pieces to stop it being used. I've heard that somebody already has one of the other pieces" the Deku King said. Zelda, shocked asked "The Fierce Deity's Mask? Are you serious?"
"I'm fully serious" the Deku King replied. He then said, "You three had better get back to clock town", to which Link, Zelda and Midna nodded, then departed.
Not too long afterwards, Link, Zelda and Midna have now met back up with Astron just in front of the clock on the clock tower, where two of the three pieces of the clock were filled in.
"So Astron, did you find a piece of this mask?" Link asked, taking the piece of the Fierce Deity's Mask out of his pocket and showing it to him.
"Yeah, I have this second piece" Astron replied, also taking out his own piece of the Fierce Deity's Mask. The two pieces glowed, and then fused.
"So quick question, where can I find out more about the Fierce Deity's Mask?" Zelda asked, to which Astron replied "The Termina Library would be about the only area we could find out anything"
"Alright then" Zelda said. Link then added "Midna and I will head to the Inn, alright?" Link asked, to which Astron replied "OK, I think" and then Link and Midna headed for the Stock Pot Inn, while Zelda and Astron headed for the library.
With Link and Midna
Link and Midna soon arrive at the entrance to the Stock Pot Inn, and they find themselves on the bottom floor of the Inn, watching TV.
"What is the Fierce Deity's Mask?" Midna asked, to which Link replied "I don't know. It might have some relation to the Majora's Mask though"
"So, does that mean it was used by the Twili or against the Twili?" Midna asked, to which Link replied "Don't know, though from what little I've heard, maybe the latter"
"Right" Midna said, unable to entirely remove the sudden fear that was bubbling up inside her. Possibly sensing her fear, Link put an arm around Midna, and said "Don't be scared Midna, Zelda and I are here for you. We will fight Fierce Deity if he does turn on you". Midna the snuggled into Link's side, and Link smiled, before gently stroking her cheek with his hand. Finally, Midna wrapped her arms around Link.
Meanwhile with Zelda and Astron
Zelda and Astron have just arrived at the part of the library where Astron had previously been, as somewhere Astron had seen a mention of Majora's Mask, which, Astron thought according to Zelda, would mention the Fierce Deity's Mask.
"Now, where is it? Where is it? Where is it?" Astron said as he scanned the restricted section of the library, looking for information about the Fierce Deity.
"Hey Astron, I've found it" Zelda called from nearby. Astron walked over, and Zelda met him with a book in her hand.
"Alright then, let's see" Astron said. Zelda and Astron then gently opened the book and examined it.
"During the great war between the Interlopers and the Golden Goddesses, members of the Interlopers unleashed the Majora's Mask. To counter this, the Goddesses forged a special mask called the Fierce Deity to counter it. The battle between Majora and Fierce Deity rages across the lands, until, finally, to stop Majora and Fierce Deity from destroying the realm that they wanted to established dominion over, sealed both" the book read.
As Zelda and Astron read this, Zelda asked "So does Zant know about the rivalry between the Mask of Majora and the Fierce Deity's Mask?", to which Astron replied "I don't think that he knows that, and we might be able to use that to our advantage. If the Fierce Deity must decide between a Twili and a Twili which is also possessed by the Mask of Majora, hopefully, the rivalry with Majora would trigger Fierce Deity"
"Interesting" Zelda said. Astron then added "So, do we tell Link and Midna about what we've found out?" to which Zelda nodded. Astron then left, which puzzled Zelda. However, Astron soon returned, holding a piece of paper and a pen.
"So, what are you doing?" Zelda asked puzzlingly, to which Astron replied "I'm going to write all of this down, and that way, it'll help us to explain this to Midna and Link"
"Ah, OK" Zelda replied.
About half an hour later, Zelda and Astron returned to the Stock Pot Inn, where they found both Link and Midna fast asleep in front of the TV. Midna had her arms around Link, and her head was lying on Link's shoulder. Link, on the other hand, had one arm around Midna's waist, and his other hand seemed to be supporting Midna's head.
"Uh, milady" Astron said, gently shaking Midna. Midna and Link both awoke and, upon seeing Astron and Zelda nearby, broke apart, blushing furiously.
"Uh, hey Astron" Midna said awkwardly. Seeing Midna and Link holding each other like that briefly disrupted what Astron was going to say, but he quickly pulled himself together and said "We've found out some stuff about the Fierce Deity's Mask, and we want to tell you about it"
"Alright" Link said, stretching.
Once Astron and Zelda had explained everything they had discovered, Midna asked "Will the Fierce Deity attack me or Zant?" to which Astron replied "The Fierce Deity's rivalry with the Mask of Majora will overwhelm any urge to attack Twili"
"Good" Midna replied. Link then asked, "So we have to find the third part of the Fierce Deity's Mask to revive him?" to which Astron nodded, and added, "I think we'll find the final part of the mask once we've defeated the Snowfall Temple"
"Well, we're going to have to head to the Snowfall Temple tomorrow, we've got to get some sleep tonight" Link said, to which Zelda, Midna and Astron nodded. The four of them then headed for the upstairs rooms.
