The following morning, Midna asked "So, where is the Snowhead Temple?" to which Link replied, "It's to the north of here, right Zelda?"
"Yes" Zelda replied.
"Alright. You three go and collect the last part of the Fierce Deity's Mask and complete the green on the clock. I'll head to the library to do more research" Astron said. Link, Zelda, and Midna nodded, then the four of them headed out, with Astron parting from the others near the clock. Astron headed for the Eastern side of Clock Town, while Link, Zelda, and Midna headed for the North of Clock Town.
When Link, Zelda, and Midna left Clock Town through the northern entrance and arrive in the northern section of the Temina Fields. Here, they see that the sky has taken on the coloration of twilight.
"Uh, that's not good" Link said, looking up at the sky. Zelda nodded, then added "Try to cross into it, let's see if it'll affect you"
"Alright" Link said. He slowly walked forward but encountered nothing that might force him into his wolf form.
"It's safe" Link called back, and Zelda and Midna both followed.
Soon, they find their path blocked by an ice wall. Zelda gets out her arrows and shoots one at an icicle dangling from a nearby rock overhand. The icicle falls and destroys the ice wall.
"That was simple" Link said. The three of them then proceed into the mountains.
On the way, they encounter three chaos Tektite's, which appear suddenly from the snow. One strike from Link's sword takes one down, a second goes down thanks to Zelda's staff while Midna's staff strikes down a third. They continue until they find the stairs blocked by snowballs.
"What do we need to destroy these?" Midna asked, to which Link replied "Bombs". Midna nodded and stepped back while Link placed a bomb down. They ran back, and when the bomb exploded, they were able to continue.
Soon, the three of them arrived at the Mountain Village.
"So, this is mountain village" Link said, smiling slightly. Zelda added "It's not much. But it's important because it's the centre hub for Snowhead. Or at least, that's what the Hero of Time wrote"
"OK. Quick question. Is it meant to be snowing here?" Midna asked, to which Zelda replied "Not always. It looks like whatever cursed this region a century ago to an eternal winter may have returned"
"Well, we had better get going to the Goron VIllage. It looks like the passage to the temple has been blocked" Link said, looking over to the west, where an ice formation had sealed the entrance. Zelda and Midna nodded, then they went east.
Upon arriving at the passage, they are attacked by another Chaos Tektite, which is easily destroyed by Link's sword. Shortly afterward, they come across an area with frozen water and three platforms with rope bridges between them. Upon moving more than a few steps, they are attacked by a Chaos Wolfos, who immediately lunges at Link. Link, however, was ready, and blocked him with his shield. Zelda got around the Chaos Wolfos and shot it in the tail with an arrow, killing it instantly.
"Weird thing" Midna said as they continued onwards. They encountered a second Chaos Wolfos as they approached the entrance to Goron Village, which Midna also destroyed with a single magic bolt to the tail.
Soon, they three of them arrive in the Goron village.
"It's bad enough being a Hylian, a Termian, or a Twili in these conditions. But to be a Goron, which live in hot climates? That must be torture" Zelda said. A guard of the Goron shrine heard Zelda say that, and said "Just for saying that, I'll allow you access to the Goron Shrine"
"Uh, thanks" Zelda said as the three of them headed for the Goron Shrine.
Inside, the Goron Shrine hadn't changed too much in the century that had passed. However, one thing had changed dramatically inside. And that was the addition of strange brown stuff that looked oddly like insulation.
"If you're wondering, yes, we have insulated the walls of this shrine to help keep this place warm" came a voice from behind them. Turning around, they see a gigantic Goron standing before them.
"Hello, are you the Goron's leader?" Midna asked, to which the Goron replied "I am the patriarch, Dangaros. I welcome the three of you here. How about you make yourselves at home. Warm up, you three look cold"
"Thanks" Link, Zelda and Midna said. They then allowed themselves to be escorted into the main foyer, where a bunch of Gorons was standing, seemingly waiting for them.
"Hello, who are you three?" one of the Gorons asked, to which the Goron patriarch replied "How about you three introduce yourself"
"I'm Link" Link said. "I'm Midna" Midna said. "I'm Zelda" Zelda said.
"Hi Link, Zelda, and Midna" the Gorons said. Dangaros then said "Can you please get some food and drink for these fine people? And, some ways to help warm them up", the Goron nodded, and several of them departed.
Half-an-hour later, Link, Zelda, and Midna are eating around a fire. Link turned to face Dangaros, and said "Thanks a lot for this"
"No problem. We do have one question. Are you here to help lift the curse on this forsaken land?"
"Yes, we are" Zelda said, to which Midna added "We're trying to drive the evil Twili out of Termina"
"Yikes, good luck with that. I assume you'll want to gain access to the Snowpoint Temple?" Dangaros asked, to which Link, Zelda, and Midna all nodded.
"Alright. Once you three are ready, we'll head over there" Dangaros replied.
About ten minutes later, Link, Zelda, and Midna have gotten themselves ready to face Snowhead Temple.
"Alright Dangaros, we're ready. However, the Snowhead temple entrance os blocked" Link said. Dangaros replied "Don't worry, I'll clear it up. Now, Zelda, Midna, are you two ready?"
"Yes, we're ready too" both Zelda and Midna said. The four of them then headed out.
About ten or so minutes later, they arrive at the ice formation blocking their way. Dangaros charged up a powerful punch and smashed it into the ice formation. It took a couple of punches, but the ice formation was destroyed.
"There you go" Dangaros said. Link, Zelda, and Midna nodded, then headed into the passage.
Meanwhile with Astron
Astron soon arrives at the entrance of the library. Entering, he made a beeline for the historical section and found one of the big books that he had previously been reading, as he had seen in the index another part on the Majora's Mask, and its rivalry with Fierce Deity.
"Ah, you're back. I never asked, but what is your name?" the librarian asked, to which Astron replied "Astron"
"Astron, OK. I'm Nanarol" Nanarol said, putting her hand out, which Astron shook.
"Were you expecting me to return to the library?" Astron asked, to which Nanaroi nodded, and added "It's why I especially marked the book that you were reading, as I got the sense that you hadn't finished with the book yet"
"Yeah, I'm now looking for stuff about the Mask of Majora, which may have been created by my ancestors, sorry about what happened back then" Astron said, to which Nanarol replied "Don't worry about it, it was thousands of years ago. As to the Mask of Majora, I thought that the Hero of Time had purged the evil from the Majora's Mask when he saved Termina from the moon by defeating it"
"Not from what I heard while I fought the Zombie in the Great Bay Temple. The evil Twili Zant has his hands on it, and my lady, her boyfriend and the princess of Hyrule are currently trying to reconstruct the Fierce Deity's Mask to counter Majora"
"Oh. I hope they succeed" Nanarol replied, to which Astron said "I agree"
Back to Link, Zelda, and Midna
When Dangaros, Link, Zelda, and Midna arrive at the pathway to the Snowpoint Temple, they find their way blocked by a gigantic Goron blowing freezing air across the area.
"Allow me" Dangaros said as he got out his bongos. He then played the Goron's Lullaby to put the giant Goron to sleep.
"Now hurry, this won't last long on him. Get inside the temple" Dangaros said. Link then replied, "How can we thank you for everything you've done?"
"Free this land from the frozen hell it's in right now would cover everything nicely" Dangaros said. Link nodded, and he ran after Zelda and Midna towards the temple.
When they arrive at the temple, Zelda said "Alright. Now the entrance is not at the base, we have to go up a slope to reach the entrance" to which Link replied "Alright"
"Just one thing. Where are the snowballs?" Zelda asked, looking around. Midna, poking her head around to the slope, said "They're here, rolling down the slope"
"OK. So Zelda, Midna, you two are going to have to destroy them as they roll down while we ascend the slope" Link said. Zelda and Midna nodded, and they started walking upwards towards the entrance, with both Zelda and Midna destroying the snowballs as they roll. After a bit, they arrive at the entrance.
"Well, here we go" Midna said. Zelda added "I wonder how much this temple has changed?" to which Link replied, "Well, if we go in, we can find out". They then proceed inwards.
Suddenly, more than a dozen Chaos Boe's leap out at them. They're quickly destroyed, but not before each of Link, Zelda and Midna take one heart of damage each, reducing all three to thirty-nine hearts. After destroying them all they find their way blocked by a large block.
"Right, so, I think both of you should be able to move this" Link said, turning to Zelda and Midna. They nodded, then used their magic to slowly push the block out of the way, It fell into the hole, and Link, Zelda, and Midna go deeper into the temple.
As soon as they enter the first room, they encounter a Chaos Bull.
"So, we're facing a bull army" Zelda said. Midna, shocked, said "Where in Twilight did these guys get Bulls from? We don't have any in the Twilight Realm". They had little time to react, however, as it charged. Link caught it by the horns, like how he used to grab the goats in Ordon Village.
"Whoa, I didn't know you could do that Link" both Midna and Zelda said.
"Problem. These bulls are much heavier than the goats I'm used to. I need you two to destroy this, I can't hold on for long, and I can't throw it, even with the extra strength" Link replied. Zelda and Midna nodded and shot magic bolts at the Bull. After four shots, the bull was down.
"Are you OK link?" both Midna and Zelda asked, to which Link replied "Yeah, I'll be OK"
"So, what now?" Midna asked, to which Link replied "Another force-fielded door. Looks like we're going to have to split up again"
"Yeah, but look, there are two trails through the door to the left, and only one through the door to the right" Zelda said. Midna then added "Two alternate routes at some point behind that door?" to which Zelda nodded.
"OK, let's do this" Midna said. Her and Zelda went through the door to the left, while Link went through the door to the right.
With Link
When Link entered the room, he saw, basically, a mix of certain death and a jump that he can only make as Wolf Link. Before the jump, however, was a strange object breathing ice intermittently.
"I guess I'm going to have to time my run so that isn't breathing ice, or it'll destroy my runup," Link said. He then got a random idea. Wondering if they're killable, he fires an arrow into it. It doesn't kill it, but it does damage it. Two more arrows destroy the first one, and Link destroys the second one with three more arrows.
"Alright, that's that taken care of" Link said. He then transformed into Wolf Link and leaped the gap. He turned back, then went up the stairs to the next floor.
There, he encounters a Chaos Afro Bull*, which immediately charges at him. He dodges out of the way, only for the crash that the Chaos Afro Bull makes when it smacks the wall to cause a considerable amount of snow to fall onto him. This did five hearts of damage, reducing Link to thirty-one hearts. Link dug himself out of the snow, then went on the attack, swinging his sword at the Chaos Afro Bull, and knocking it back. It had already taken five hearts of damage from slamming itself into the wall, leaving it with forty-five hearts, but the sword strike did five more hearts of damage, reducing it to forty hearts.
"Now, let's see what you've got" Link said. He then ran towards the end of the room, and the bull charged at him. This time, he avoided both it and the snowfall, allowing him to strike it in the side, dealing a combined twenty hearts of damage, reducing it to twenty hearts.
"Yee-haw" Link said. He dodged the next charge, and dropped a bomb for it to run into, which it did, dealing five hearts of damage, reducing the bull to fifteen hearts before one final side strike took the bull down.
"Nice" Link said as another chest appeared. Link opened it and found a small key. He opened the door at the other end of the room and found a switch with the trail connected behind it. Link pressed the switch, and the first trail disappeared. Link then headed back towards the foyer.
Meanwhile with Zelda and Midna
Zelda and Midna enter a room which contains a large, semi-slippery floor, several objects encased in ice, and a chaos bull, though with huge feet instead of horns. It turned around and kicked at Zelda and Midna as soon as they entered, forcing them to scatter. Zelda fires an arrow into the Chaos Bull, while Midna fires a magic bolt. The chaos bull then jumps up and slams down into the ground, unleashing a shockwave that does three hearts of damage to both Zelda and Midna, reducing both to thirty-six hearts. One more arrow and a magic bolt finished the Bull.
"OK, now what?" Zelda asked, to which Midna replied "We move to the next room. It doesn't look like there are any other doors"
"OK" Zelda said, and they proceeded to the next floor.
There, they find icicles on the ceiling, as well as several platforms, each reaching steadily higher. On the other side, the two doors were blocked by a force field.
"So, I'll take the first one, you take the second one. OK?" Zelda asked, to which Midna nodded. Zelda then ascended the platforms and fired an arrow into the icicle on the roof, which landed on the ice and destroyed it, along with itself.
"Alright" Midna said. Zelda nodded, then pressed the switch, which removed one of the force fields.
"I'll take that one" Zelda said. Midna nodded, and Zelda went through the door.
"Now, it's my turn" Midna said. She ascended the platforms herself, and found the other switch, hiding behind a big block. Using her magic, she moved it, then hovered over and pressed the switch, allowing her to access the other room.
With Zelda
Zelda enters the room and discovers a Chaos Snow Bull. Puzzled, she looks at it for a moment, then, without warning, it stamped its feet, and Zelda found herself having to dodge icicles dropping from the ceiling. One grazes her arm, and another catches her ponytail, combined doing four hearts of damage to Zelda, reducing her to thirty-two hearts. Zelda grabs those two with her magic and fires them at the bull, who is hit by both, dealing ten hearts of damage each and reducing it to thirty hearts.
"Now, take this" Zelda said, and she fired two more magic bolts at the Bull, dealing ten hearts of damage and reducing the bull to twenty hearts. The bull then took a big breath, and fired an ice breath at her, which she avoided. Though she had to keep moving to avoid it as the bull tracked her.
"How annoying" Zelda said as she countered with magic bolts, which eventually bring the bull down. A large chest then appears, and when Zelda opens it, it contains a small key. Zelda then sees a door with a lock on it. She walks up to it, puts the key in, and goes into the next room.
A switch, where the trail stops, was present. Zelda pressed it, and the second trail disappeared.
"Nice" Zelda said. She then went back the way she came.
Meanwhile with Midna
When Midna arrived in the room, she noticed four panels. She had no idea what to expect until suddenly, Chaos Wizrobe appeared. And immediately disappeared.
"What the?" Midna asked herself. She made her way to the middle of the room and sensed where Wizrobe was going to appear. The first time, she easily shot it with a magic bolt, dealing five hearts of damage and reducing Wizrobe to forty-five hit points. She scored two more hits, reducing him to thirty-five hearts, but she missed the fourth shot and paid the price by being hit by one of his attacks, dealing three hearts of damage to Midna and reducing her to thirty-three hearts.
"Damn, focus Midna" she said as she dodged another attack aimed at her. She saw, out of the corner of her eye, Wizrobe appear. She faked a shot at him, and he disappeared. But this allowed Midna to hit him again with another magic bolt the instant he appeared, dealing five hearts of damage and reducing Wizrobe to thirty hearts.
Then, Wizrobe split into four. This didn't matter to Midna, who just faked a shot at who she was sure was the real one, and then when he disappeared, she raced to the one she could sense that he appeared and used a combined staff/magic attack to inflict ten hearts of damage, reducing Wizrobe to twenty hearts, though Midna took another three hearts in damage from a magic bolt, reducing her to thirty hearts.
Wizrobe teleported again, and Midna struck. Midna did this a few more times, dodging the magic bolts each time Wizrobe fired them until he was eventually defeated. The switch was revealed, and Midna pressed it. The last trail disappeared, and with it, the force field, then Midna returned the way she came.
Once everybody had met up, Zelda said "Now, we proceed" and with that, they proceed on into the dungeon.
