Chapter 11
It was close to sunset by the time Lee and I finished our heart to heart. Lee and I put our tea cups in the sink for later and then taken Naruto and Hana upstairs to their bedroom for a nap. My head still hurt a lot from the flood of memories and it was taking me some time to adjust. I would need to meditate later to sort them all out. Ugg. I did all that work for nothing. Fml.
Lee needed to get back to the orphanage to meet up with his roommate and take care of his wards as well, so with some effort we made a second diaper bag for him out of the extra's Mama had packed away in the nursery's closet.
It felt so long ago that I had helped her fold little baby clothes and debated on weather my siblings would be a boy or a girl. Mama thought she was having a boy but I thought she was having a girl. Papa had chosen not to guess since he knew better than to get in between me or my mother. Since it was better to agree with both of us silently then to choose a side between his two-favorite woman in his life Better to stroke a sleeping kitten then a tiger after all. At the time, I didn't know we would end up both being right.
"Aiya-san are you sure it's okay for me to take all this?" Lee asked for the seventh time. I nodded turning on the baby monitor and placing its copy in my pocket. With Naruto and Hana down for their nap they wouldn't wake up till about eight or so. So, I had a few hours to sort out my life. I needed to clear some things up with the Hokage and sort all my memories as best as I could. There were a few things I remembered right away though. Especially about the Hokage. Before I planned to change the future, I need to at least talk to him. After everything that's happened he was still family. Even if Grampa had acted like a big douche bag. He didn't know after all.
"Yeah its fine. You need it so its fine." I replied walking out the door of my house after putting my shoes back on. It was almost weird to think I owned a house after the last few months. My home. My Mama and Papa's home. And the home in the city. I didn't even know I would miss them this much. Compared to where I was living now I would find a way to keep my family back on Uzumaki grounds.
"Okay." Lee replied his eyebrows furrowing together with a small frown on his face. He adjusted the strap of the baby bag over his shoulder falling in step with me as we left the compound.
"Hay, how are we going to get to the orphanage from here? I've never been to this part of the village and wouldn't that Anbu-san be waiting for us once we leave?" Lee asked rounding the compounds wall.
"I know a short cut; it should take you right out next to the Orphanage's playground I'm sure you can find your way from there. And avoid the Anbu." I said pulling my hair out of my face while stopping at a tree that marked the boundary of the east side of the Uzumaki's compound. From what I remember If I poured chakra into the seal that was on it I could open the ward to let Lee out. Mama had shown me this a long time ago, I had to use my forefinger and my middle digit to tap twice? No three times then apply chakra to the outer seal, that opened the door, then turn the seal clockwise and push in towards the tree.
It would open the tree's trunk almost like a portal. Originally it would only open to the spot on the other side of the tree but Papa worked on it for weeks before It would open to all over the village.
I thought it was so cool when Mama first showed me it. She said soon we would have tree's like this all over the village after Papa would find the time to implant them. But that never happened and now It was just my family's old Senju tree at the end of our compound on the east side. It worked for fast travel though. Which was almost as cool as traveling through Papa's seals.
Placing my hand in the middle of the tree I applied the sequence letting it pump some of my chakra from my fingers. The tree glowed and brightened before folding its trunk on itself. It showed a bright park on the other side. Children running to and fro behind a pair of bushes that covered the tree's other side.
Lee watched me widened eyed as the illusion of the tree's trunk faded and showed the orphanages pink playground on the other side.
"Woahhhhh! How did you do that! Is that the park?! How does it work?!" Lee asked rapidly firing questions one after the other.
"It's a Uzumaki family seal. It allows travel through short distances. My Papa helped make it. Before he..." I trailed off my eyes moist. It was almost surreal that I was doing this with them gone. I placed my hands in my pockets as one curled around the baby monitor. I missed them so much.
Lee stopped his star gazing and stared at me sadly. He came over and pulled me into a hug. "It'll be okay Aiya-san. You've got me now, and Naru-chan and Hana-Chan and I'm sure Tenten would love you and Miyuki and Sougi we'll be your friends." Lee said patting my back.
I hiccupped and wiped my eyes. Gah! Not the time to deal with this right now suck it up girl!
"Yeah, I get it Lee." I replied letting go of him and stepping back. "I'll see you in the morning Okay, we'll work on that punching okay?" I said. I knew Lee meant well but it just wasn't the same. And I had other things to worry about.
Lee smiled sadly and nodded. "Okay. I'll see you bright in early then ready for training." He smiled. I smiled back and pushed him through the portal before closing it. The injured look of surprise on his face was almost enough to make me laugh. At least it was enough to hold me over.
Now it was back to business as usual.
A/N: Just a prelude to whats to come I'll be doing a revision of Limbo soon. I hope everyone is doing okay. My grandfather died and my other Grandfather isn't doing so good right now so I'm having a hard time getting chapters out.
Feeling blue you know.
Hope you enjoyed.
