MOONLIGHTING

THE ADDISON FAMILY'S: WHITE CHRISTMAS

THE SCENE OPENS AS Maddie and David, Agnes, Bert and Nola Viola, Terri, Walter, Walter Jr. and baby Terri, Richie and a pregnant Chloe and Patrice, Troy, Nola and baby Lamar, all gather around the dining room table at the Addison residence singing happy birthday to Aidan who is turning four. Aidan gazes happily into the brightly lit candles that sit on top of a very cool Star Wars cake. After everyone sings the last line and Aidan blows out the candles and makes his wish, Maddie leans in and picks up the cake to cut it…but as she does David reaches his oversized finger in ahead of her and swipes frosting off the side of the cake and reaches for his mouth. Maddie slaps his hand.

Maddie: David!

David: Maddie!

He pats her behind with the other hand.

David: Relax.

Maddie rolls her eyes.

Maddie: You think everyone wants your finger in their food?

David looks around.

David: Ah, come on, we're all family.

Maddie picks up a knife.

David: (Acts scared.) Ok, ok, cut that piece for me, I'll eat it so no one has to have my germs.

He sticks the mound of chocolate frosting in his mouth and leans in to Maddie who tries to lean away, but he has her by the arm and pulls her into him, kissing her on the cheek and leaving a smudge of icing on her freshly made up face.

Maddie: David!

David cackles and Maddie grabs a napkin to dab her face and David takes another swipe at the frosting. Maddie pulls the cake away.

Maddie: Would you go refill drinks please and leave the cake alone?

David: At your service ma'am. (Whispers in her ear.) If icing lands anywhere else on you I'll gladly lick it off later.

Maddie swipes a towel at David's face as he dodges out of the way, he blows her an air kiss and then moves to pet Aidan's hair as he asks the room who needs a drink refill?

It's December 11th, 1993, the weekend before Aidan's actual birthday, and it's a very busy month for the Addison's. After Aidan's Birthday comes Christmas and then Lily's birthday falls on New Years Eve. This year everyone, including David's side of the family, is meeting at the Hayes residence in Chicago for Christmas.

CUT TO: The next morning Maddie is up early and in the kitchen talking to her mother on the phone when David makes his way through the kitchen and out to the garage and starts pulling down boxes of decorations and ornaments.

Maddie: Mom, can you hold on a minute? David? What are you doing?

David: I'm baking pies…what does it look like I'm doing? I'm bringing in everything so we can decorate for Christmas.

Maddie: Decorate for Christmas?

David: Decorate for Christmas. Last time I checked the calendar it was December. And Christmas is in December, is it not?

Maddie: Yes but…we're going away this year, so I didn't think we'd have to…(Returns to the phone.) Mom, can I call you back later tonight? Thanks. Love you mom. (She hangs up and follows David out to the garage.) David…we're leaving in a week to go to Chicago for Christmas…do you really think we need to drag all this stuff out?

David: It's Christmas Maddie, we've got kids… it's the most wonderful time of the year, deck the halls and all that stuff, so why not spread the holiday cheer around here…while we're here? We can enjoy it until we leave, besides, we'll be back for New Years and we'll want it decorated for that, right?

David continues to pull boxes down and push them towards the door. He fills Maddie's arms full of tinsel and Christmas lights.

Maddie: I know David, but it's so much stuff, it makes such a mess, I just thought we could keep things simple this year and instead of pulling all these boxes out, I was just going to put a few holiday knick-knacks around, and maybe get a small fake tree to…

David: A fake tree!? Maddie, please...

David pushes past her and carries boxes to the living room as Maddie follows behind him, her arms loaded down with holiday decorations and stockings.

Maddie: Just for this year David, I mean, next week we'll be at my parent's house with a real tree and decorations and eggnog and the white Christmas you wanted so badly. So, why can't we just make things easy on ourselves until we get there? I mean, between Aidan's birthday, closing out the office for the holidays, the office Christmas party and then getting us all packed and ready for Chicago, I think a better use of our time would be to…

Just then, a sleepy Aidan and Lily make their way into the living room and see the boxes of decorations.

Aidan: What are you doing Daddy?

David: We're gonna get the house ready for Christmas today.

Aidan and Lily start jumping around cheering and David looks at Maddie and smirks. Maddie raises her eyebrows at David, sighs, and then turns to go out to the garage and bring in more decorations.

A few hours later the house is mostly decorated and they all pile in the car to go pick out a tree. Maddie and David sing a rendition of "It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas" in the car as the kids beg for them to stop, saying their voices are terrible…but Maddie and David just laugh and sing louder just to bug them. At the tree lot, they all pile out of the car and David tells the kids what they're looking for.

David: Aidan, Lily, I'm gonna teach you how to find the perfect tree…don't just look at the front, you've got to inspect all sides, make sure there aren't any holes, we want bright green, long branches and it's gonna have to be pretty tall to fill our living room.

Aidan and Lily: Ok Daddy!

They run ahead of Maddie and David and start inspecting trees. Maddie puts her arm through David's and they walk slowly behind the kids and smile at all the fun they're having.

Maddie: You were right David.

David: (Stops walking and feigns shock.) Excuse me? Can I get that in writing?

Maddie: (Smiles and moves so they start walking forward.) Well, look at them, they're having so much fun. Sometimes I forget to live in the moment instead of being overwhelmed by the big picture.

David: That's what I'm always trying to tell you. These are the times they're going to remember Maddie.

Maddie: (Maddie looks down and scrunches her face) I know. You'll just have to keep reminding me I guess.

David moves his arm up around Maddie's neck and kisses the side of her head.

David: Hey, you're a big picture person and I live in the moment, but that's the balance right? That's why we work so well…but neither of us is right all the time.

Aidan: Dad look! What about this tree!?

Aidan and Lily dance around the tree they've picked out. Maddie and David hurry to catch up.

David: Looks like a good one! Does it meet our standards for this year's Addison family Tannunbaum?

Aidan walks around the tree inspecting it.

Aidan: Oh no…it's missing some branches in the back Dad…it's not perfect.

David: (Looks at Maddie.) You know what A? Sometimes the imperfections are what makes it beautiful.

Maddie flutters her eyes, smiles, looks down and then back up at David, he winks at her.

David: (Holds Maddie's eyes.) What do you think Mom?

Maddie: What do I think? I think, if it has a few flaws, then it's the perfect tree for us.

Lily and Aidan cheer and jump around and David finds someone to cut the tree down for them.

CUT TO: The next week and a half at Blue Moon go quickly as everyone is busy working on cases, closing out cases and meeting with potential clients who need to hire a detective in the new year. On the Wednesday before Christmas Blue Moon closes early and all the employees and their family and kids gather together for a Christmas party. Mrs. D and Stan come dressed as Mr. and Mrs. Clause and each of the children get to sit on Santa's lap, tell him what they want for Christmas and take a picture. Maddie and David give everyone a beautiful snow globe of the city of Los Angeles so they'll all have snow on Christmas and a holiday bonus. Shortly after five they all head home for a two-week vacation.

The Addison's are flying out the next day for Chicago; so, after they get the kids to bed Maddie and David tidy up the kitchen together from dinner, then Maddie tells David she's going upstairs to finish packing.

David: How many bags are you bringing this time Maddie? There are already six bags for the four of us by the front door.

Maddie: Oh, I don't know, another bag or two of cosmetics should do…maybe one more suitcase full of sweaters. It's gonna be cold there ya know.

David: (Grumbles.) Yeah, and guess who gets to haul them bags though the airport? I only have two arms ya know.

Maddie: (Pets his arm.) Lucky for me they're strong arms.

David looks away annoyed.

David: I hope the airport isn't very crowded tomorrow.

Maddie: Two days before Christmas? I think you better count on it.

David: If I'm in charge of the bags, you'd better handle the kids…Lily's been running away from us a lot lately…with all those crowds, you better keep an eye on her.

Maddie: (Runs her hand over his hair and teases.) Wow, looks who's the Christmas Grinch now.

David throws her a look that says he's in no mood.

Maddie: I'll make Lily my personal responsibility David. (Throws him a fake smile.) So, you want to come help me pack?

David: (Picks up the remote.) I'll leave that to your capable hands…my duffel bag is already by the door. (Nods towards the TV.) I think I'll catch the end of the game.

Maddie: Ok, see you up there.

Maddie heads up the stairs and David throws her a two-fingered kiss before hurling himself onto the couch. Upstairs Maddie is actually planning a surprise for David, so she hurries into the bedroom to pull it all together. Forty-five minutes later Maddie stands at the top of the stairs in a very sexy Mrs. Clause outfit, leaving nothing to the imagination, complete with Santa hat, thigh-high stocking and high heels and calls down to David with a stern voice.

Maddie: David! Can you come bring these bags down for me now?

David: (Calls back) In a few minutes hun…the games in the fourth quarter, just leave them by the door and I'll bring them down in the morning.

Maddie pushes her mouth to one side.

Maddie: David!?

David: (Annoyed.) Yeah babe?

Maddie: I'm having trouble closing one of these suitcases; can you come sit on it for me?

David: Now?

Maddie: If you don't mind…I really want to get this done. I'm tired and want to get to bed.

David: (Takes a swig of beer.) I'll be up at the next commercial.

Maddie: Thank you.

David doesn't respond. Maddie quickly heads back into the room and makes sure everything is in place. After a few minutes Maddie hears David making his way towards the room. David mumbles to himself on the way up.

David: (Imitates Maddie.) I'm a planner David…(his voice.) well, I'll tell you one thing she didn't plan on, me…enjoying my vacation…yes, I'm on vacation too and don't plan on being no ones bell boy these next two weeks…

David trudges through the bedroom door only to find the room dimly lit and candles burning a soft romantic glow. A fire roars in the fireplace and soft Christmas music plays on the stereo. On his pillow lay two beautifully wrapped gifts. Two glasses of Champaign bubble up on the nightstand. The sight stops David dead in his tracks, and softens his mood. He looks around and steps into the middle of the room, puts his hand in his pockets and smiles.

David: Maddie?

Just then, Maddie sticks one high-heeled clad leg out from behind the dressing room wall. David whistles. She sticks out an arm out and then peeks around playfully with her Santa hat on and winks. David reaches his arms out to her and she sashays over to him as his jaw drops taking in the sight of her in her skimpy Mrs. Clause dress. Maddie melts into his arms.

Maddie: (Kisses him.) Merry Christmas baby!

David laughs and kisses her.

David: (Sweetly.) Merry Christmas. (Holds her arms out.) Wow, you look very…festive.

Maddie: Are you surprised?

David: Surprised? Am I surprised? I'm stunned.

Maddie: (Pouts.) And are you through being Mr. Grinch?

David: Was that part of the plan?

Maddie: Let's just say I know how to push your buttons.

David: You sure do…better than anyone.

Maddie: Glances towards the bed…you wanna open your presents?

David looks at the gifts.

David: Nope. I wanna spend some more time with Mrs. Clause first.

He pulls Maddie closer and they kiss passionately. Then, Maddie pulls away, pushes their door closed and locks it and then looks seductively at David.

Maddie: Well, Mrs. Clause has some surprises for you.

She takes his hand and leads him to a chair by the fire.

David: (Teases.) The fire's a nice touch Maddie, but it's 70 degrees outside.

Maddie: Shhh, no it's not…it's snowing and we're in a cozy log cabin in the North Pole.

David: We are? Come to think of it, the house did feel a little cold.

Maddie: I turned on the air conditioner.

David laughs.

Maddie: OK, now shhhhh, play along.

Maddie takes the two glasses off the nightstand and they cheers and each take a long sip. Then Maddie covers David's eyes with a decorative holiday handkerchief and begins to undress him.

Maddie: For tonight's activities, no clothes required.

David laughs.

David: Mmmmm, my favorite kind.

Maddie kisses David all over and arouses his senses in every way possible. Eventually she pops a minty candy in her mouth and goes down on him. The candy makes him taste like a giant candy cane and pulsates David with a cool, stimulating sensation…he is pleasantly surprised at all the feelings he's experiencing at once.

David: (Moans.) Maddie, Maddie, Maddie…I love how your mind works.

David leans back in the chair trying not to lose control of himself too quickly as he tangles his hands in Maddie's hair. As Maddie works him over he grunts and groans and can't hold out for long and finally releases. Maddie kisses her way up his stomach, over his chest and onto his neck. She whispers in his ear.

Maddie: I love you baby.

David: (Smiles.) I love you too darlin', and believe me, I love everything you're doing right now. If I haven't told you before, you're a very good planner.

Maddie: (Laughs.) Yeah? I won't let you forget you said that.

David laughs and runs his hands over her body.

David: Can I take this thing off my eyes now?

Maddie: Sure! We can use it for other things.

Maddie pulls off his blindfold and leads David over to the bed, he lies down and she sits straddled on top of him…he can't keep his hands off her.

Maddie: Ok, present time. Mrs. Clause picked out a few things especially for you.

She hands him the first gift.

David: Mrs. Clause did great I'm sure.

He unwraps the first present and it's a new pair of Ray Ban sunglasses, the latest style. David slips them on.

David: I love these. Thank you Mad.

She leans down and kisses him.

Maddie: You look so sexy in sunglasses. Ok, now this.

She hands him the second box. He opens it up and it's a new watch.

David: Ahhh. It's the one I wanted that you wouldn't let me buy. You said it was too expensive and I didn't need it. We got in a big fight that day. I was really annoyed about that.

David slips on the watch.

Maddie: Well, David, you impulse buy everything, you've got to leave some things that I can add to the list for Christmas. You're so hard to buy for.

David runs his hands up and down her thighs.

David: That's because I already have everything I need right here.

Maddie cups his face in her hands and kisses him.

Maddie: Ready for round two?

David peeks over the top of his Ray Bans up and looks her up and down.

David: Can I leave these on?

Maddie rolls her eyes.

Maddie: It's your fantasy.

David: I think I'd better keep my vision clear tonight.

He slips the glasses off and lays them on the nightstand. Maddie takes his wrists and ties them above his head onto a notch in the shelving unit behind them.

David: Hey, don't I get to touch?

Maddie: Shhhhhh.

Maddie lifts her skirt up to reveal to David that she isn't wearing any panties and starts to rub herself on him. Not being able to touch her is driving him crazy. She pulls herself up on him and pushes her breasts in his face, she pushes and pulls her hands through his hair and breathes into his ear.

Maddie: (whispers.) Hold on cowboy.

Maddie turns around and straddles David facing away from him so her ass, his favorite body part of hers, is facing towards him. He is rock hard as she pushes him inside her and begins gyrating. David practically loses his breath as this woman works him over and plays out this fantasy for him that she knows drives him wild. Watching her voluptuous ass move in front of him, and watching her little skirt flip up, revealing her supple flesh underneath is too much for him. He's dying to get his hands on her. Eventually he manages to pull his hands free from their ties and he runs his hands over her behind and onto her soft back and she bucks and writhes with the pleasure this position is bringing her. Once she finishes coming David takes control and flips her over so he's on top and slides in and out of her while looking lovingly into her eyes until she comes again and so does he.

CUT TO: The next evening the Addison family lounges around their hotel room in a suburb of Chicago near Maddie's parent's house after a long day of travel. Maddie unpacks their suitcases while the kids jump around investigating every button in the room and David is flipping through the channels on the TV, when suddenly there is a loud banging on the door that joins them to the room next door. David jumps up and goes to the door.

David: Hello?

The person on the other side bangs again. David starts to unlock the door.

Maddie: Are you gonna answer that?

David shrugs, and just as he unlocks the door, a foot kicks it open and Richie flies into the room.

Richie: Yo adjoining rooms Bro! Merry freakin' Christmas family 'o mine!

Aidan and Lily: Uncle Richie!

Chloe follows behind Richie and hugs and kisses David.

Chloe: I told him to just say it was us.

Maddie: No, that would be too normal! (She and Chloe kiss each other on the cheek.) Hi. When did you guys get in?

Richie: Just now…Pop and Stephanie are down the hall.

Richie kisses Maddie.

Richie: Hi sis.

Maddie: Hi Rich. How was the flight?

Chloe: How would he know? He slept the whole way.

Maddie pats Chloe's growing baby belly.

Maddie: How are you feeling?

Chloe: Great! Oh, did we tell you? We're having a girl!

Maddie: No! That's wonderful! How exciting.

Richie: (Stretches.) Yep, after that good sleep on the plane I'm feeling refreshed. (To David.) Whadda you say after dinner we hit up that bar downstairs for a couple, eh bro?

David: No can do Richie…I'm beat, someone kept me up pretty late last night. (He winks at Maddie.)

Aidan: Yeah, he had a visit from Mrs. Clause.

Maddie and David: (Mortified he saw something.) Aidan!?

Aidan: Well, that's what Daddy said on the plane today, Mrs. Clause gave him some presents.

They breathe a sigh of relief. David looks at his new watch.

David: Oh, right…that's right. I did get a little visit from her last night.

Richie: (Scoffs.) Oh, I see, someone was up late playing reindeer games huh?

He shakes his finger at Maddie and David.Maddie tries to hide a smile and turns to put clothes in a drawer.

David: Yeah, something like that. Anyway, (yawns.) I'm hitting the hay early tonight.

Chloe: (To Maddie.) So, dinner is in the Italian restaurant downstairs at 7?

Maddie: Yes, my parents and some other family will meet us there.

Maddie looks at her watch; it's 6:15.

Maddie: David, why don't you and Richie go down and have a few beers now before everyone gets here and I'll catch up with Chloe.

David: Ah, gee mom, do I have to? (He jumps off the bed.) All right, we'll meet you down there.

David and Richie head out and Chloe and Maddie chat.

Maddie: Well, we didn't have to tell them twice.

Chloe: Nope! Actually, I'm glad Richie's getting out a bit…we've been homebodies for the last few months.

Maddie: Yeah, besides Aidan's party, we haven't seen much of you two, everything ok?

Chloe: Oh yeah, everything's great. We've just been enjoying time together before the baby comes and we don't have time for, you know…all that.

Maddie: All that huh?

Chloe smiles.

Chloe: Well, you know how that is…Mrs. Clause.

They both laugh.

CUT TO: David and Richie at the bar.

Richie: So, tell me about your little visit from Mrs. Clause last night.

David: (Stares at him deadpan.) Come on Rich, what happens between a man and his wife in the bedroom is sacrosanct.

Richie: Awe, Dave, you never tell me anything anymore…you used to describe every freckle, pore, tattoo…I mean, whadda you think I'm gonna do? Run back and blab to Maddie?

David: Why don't you tell me what Chloe does to you in the bedroom?

Richie: Chloe? She's a little vixen…you know how men say they want a saint in public and a whore in the bedroom? Well let me tell ya…

David holds up his hand.

David: Ho-ho-hold it right there Rich. You see? I don't want to know, Chloe's family now, I don't want to picture her like that…and I don't want you picturing Maddie any other way than a great mother and a great wife…the rest is for me to know my friend. So stop askin'. Let's just agree that we're all tickled each other is being tickled the right way.

Richie: Ok, ok…you got it bro.

They clink their glasses and go back to watching football. Shortly after seven they make their way to the restaurant and meet up with the rest of the family, Virginia and Alex, David and Stephanie, Maddie's Aunt Betty and Uncle Cliff and David is surprised to see her cousin Annie, who was kicked out of their engagement party years ago for hitting on David…and in turn got hit by Maddie. But this time Annie was without her boring husband Mark…in fact, she was with a much younger man. Everyone is standing in the lobby waiting to be seated and David approaches Maddie from behind and wraps his arms around her.

David: Guess who?

Maddie leans her head back on David's shoulder.

Maddie: Santa?

David: I'll be whoever you want me to be.

Maddie laughs.

David: You wore me out last night woman. (David sways her side to side.) Did I ever say thank you for all my gifts?

Maddie: (Smiles.) You're welcome.

David: Hey, question.

Maddie: Yeah?

David: (Nods towards Annie.) What she doing here?

Just then Virginia spots David and walks over to him with open arms and a big warm smile.

Virginia: David!

David: Virginia, Merry Christmas.

Virginia: Oh, we're so happy you're all here. (Turns to her husband who is talking to David Sr.) Alex, did you say hi to David?

Alex makes his way over.

Alex: Hello son.

They hug and just then everyone is shown to their table for dinner. Once everyone is seated and orders are taken there is so much chatter and activity that Maddie and David forget about Annie at the other end of the table, but just after the wine is poured they each get a tap on their shoulder and turn around to find Annie crouched down behind them. Maddie and David look at each other and then turn to face Annie.

Annie: Maddie, David…sorry to interrupt your dinner, but before the holiday festivities get underway, and before anyone starts to feel awkward, I wanted to come over and apologize to you both. I was…wildly…inappropriate at your engagement party a few years back and I'm still really embarrassed. I don't know what was wrong with me…I guess I was just really unhappy and jealous of everything you two had together. But, because of all that, I got out of the situation I was in that made me unhappy, my marriage to Mark…and found someone who I am happy with. And if, anyone ever did what I did to you guys…I don't think I could forgive them. But, I hope you'll find it in your hearts and that we can just move forward from here.

Maddie takes David's hand.

Maddie: As far as I'm concerned Annie, it's all water under the bridge. And I do hope you're in a better place now…because everyone deserves to be with someone that really makes them happy.

David: Yeah, really…it was so long ago Annie. Forget about it. Let's just enjoy the holidays and be a family.

Annie looks relieved and gives them a big smile. She hugs Maddie.

Annie: Oh, Maddie, I've missed you.

Then she looks at David and puts her hands up.

Annie: (Kidding.) I'll keep my hands off you if you don't mind David, I'll just smile and wave at you from afar…(rubs the side of her face.) I still have a clicking noise in my jaw from the right hook Maddie gave me.

David rubs his jaw.

David: Oh, I've got one of those myself from 'ole Right Hook Hayes.

They all laugh and Maddie looks down feeling slightly embarrassed that her temper gets away from her sometimes.

Annie: But, seriously, you guys look great…and your kids are amazing. (Nods towards her date.) I'll have to introduce you to James later; I think you'll really like him.

She blows them both a kiss and heads back to her seat. Virginia catches eyes with Maddie and Maddie nods at her letting her know everything is ok.

CUT TO: The next day, on Christmas Eve everyone gathers at Alex and Virginia's house for a big family dinner and then watch "It's a Wonderful Life" on TV. The kids stay with their grandparents that night so they can wake up in the house Christmas morning and Maddie and David plan to be back early before they wake up. After the movie, Maddie and David tuck the kids into bed and then head back to the hotel and have a drink in the bar as they chat with Richie and Chloe. After awhile, Ritchie and Chloe head up to bed and Maddie and David have one more drink. David kneads Maddie's small fingers with his large ones and gives her a sideways look.

David: So.

Maddie: So?

David: You've given me some pretty nice gifts this year Mrs. Addison, but you never gave me a list. What is it you want?

Maddie: This. Everything we have. Happy kids, extended family around us. Me and you.

David: Well, it makes me happy we have all those things too…but, I did pick you up a few other things.

David takes a rectangular box out of his coat pocket and puts it in front of Maddie.

Maddie: David.

David: Open it.

Maddie opens the gift to find an antique gold locket on a delicate chain.

Maddie: It's beautiful. What's inside?

David: Oh, just a couple picture of me.

Maddie looks at him like he's full of it.

David: Well, I know how much you miss me when I'm not around.

Maddie opens up the locket and sees a picture of Lily on one side and a picture of Aidan on the other.

David: (Feigns shock.) What the? Did the store make a mistake and put a picture of those damn kids in there? Eh, well…I guess that works too.

Maddie holds the locket out for David to clasp around her neck. She puts her hand to his cheek and kisses him.

Maddie: Thank you David, I love it.

David: And I love you.

Maddie: I love you too Addison.

David also gives Maddie a sparkly band of small diamonds that fit the middle finger of her right hand. He says it was, jokingly of course, so he'd have something beautiful to look at the next time she flips him off. After they finish their drinks they go up to the room, make love and fall into a deep sleep only to be awaken by their wake up call at 5:45am so they could get back to the house before the kids wake up.

As Maddie and David, Richie and Chloe and David Sr. and Stephanie entered the house with their arms full of donuts, fruit salad and gifts they can smell Mr. Hayes' famous cinnamon bread that he makes every Christmas morning warming in the oven. In the kitchen, Mrs. Hayes is stirring hot chocolate on the stove and brewing coffee. Once everyone has a steaming hot cup of something and a little food, Mr. and Mrs. Hayes call David into the living room.

Mrs. Hayes: David, there is one gift we want you to open before the kids get up.

She hands him a beautiful gift-wrapped box.

David: (Surprised.) What's this?

Alex: (Smiling.) Open it.

David unwraps the box to find an RCA video camera recorder.

Alex: I set it all up for you so you can record the kids this Christmas morning.

Virginia wraps her arms around Alex.

Virginia: And we hope you'll use it to capture all your family memories so you can remember these times. (She looks at Maddie.) It all goes so fast.

Maddie hugs her mom.

Maddie: Oh, mom, that's so sweet!

Alex: And, send some of those tapes our way once in awhile, would ya?

David: Sure Alex, thank you both. I don't know what to say. I love it.

He gives them each a hug. Just then they hear Lily calling out for Maddie. David gets his camera ready and Maddie and Virginia run upstairs to help the kids down and lead them to the pile of presents Santa left for them.

CUT TO: A few hours later, after all of the presents are opened, everyone lazes around the house chatting, having cocktails and snacks and watching football. Maddie and David sit together in a lazy boy chair and rock.

David: Great Christmas.

Maddie: Great Christmas.

David: Only one problem.

Maddie: What's that?

David: How are we gonna get all this stuff home?

Maddie: Remember those six bags we brought?

David: Yeah?

Maddie: Well, two of them are empty.

David: (Smiles.) Smart woman. You are a very good planner you know. (He whispers in her ear.) You have so many talents.

Maddie nudges him teasingly. Suddenly Aidan moves to the window.

Aidan: Hey Mama…what's that?

Maddie looks outside and sees a heaving snow is coming down for the first time since they've been here. Maddie laughs.

Maddie: That's snow Aidan! David look!

They get up and move towards the window, David picks up Lily and they all watch the snowfall – it's the first snow either of the kids have ever seen. Aidan leans his chin on the windowsill, Lily lays her head on David's shoulder and David puts his arm around Maddie and they watch the snow pile up outside.

Maddie: It's the white Christmas you wanted David.

David smiles and nods his head and Maddie cuddles closer. Behind them Mr. Hayes catches the whole scene on film.

Over the next few days everyone spends some good quality time as one, big, happy, extended family. All of the adults even get an evening out in downtown Chicago while some of Maddie's teenage cousins watch the kids. But, after a week in Chicago, Maddie and David and Aidan and Lily head back to LA. Richie and Chloe are on the same plane home. They hug goodbye at the LA Airport.

Maddie: See you at Lily's birthday party in a couple days!

Richie and Chloe: Ok, see you then, bye!

The next day at the Addison house is spent resting, doing laundry and only eating food that can be delivered. On, Friday the 31st they have a birthday party for three-year-old Lily at Fun & Fun, the wild kids center that takes care of everything and makes it easy on parents. All of their LA family and friends are there and everyone has a lot of fun and swaps Christmas stories. Lily stuffs herself with pizza and cake and then spins around the fun zone for so long that she ends up throwing up on Walter Jr. – Shortly after that they all call it a day and head back home. That night, Maddie and David have tickets to a fancy New Years Eve party, black tie required. Mrs. D and Stan are staying over to watch the kids. Maddie and David are getting ready up in their room.

Maddie: Who's idea was this to go to a black tie event on New Years after the crazy month we've had?

Both stand in the dressing area in front of the mirror while Maddie fixes her hair and David ties his bowtie.

David: Remember back in October when we had nothing going on it sounded like a great idea?

Maddie: That's right, we promised we'd…

David and Maddie: Dance in the New Year together…

David: And not be some boring old married couple.

Maddie: Well, right now, being a boring old married couple and sitting on the couch tonight sounds more appealing.

David: I agree with you, but we're not letting $150 a ticket go to waste.

A few hours later David and Maddie dance around the ballroom of the 1920s style New Years Eve party as midnight quickly approaches. They have a private booth for two in the Art Deco style room where they had a great dinner and have been dancing the night away to the fabulous band playing ever since. They both look gorgeous and have definitely been turning a head or two from the moment they walked in together hand in hand. Maddie in a fire engine red dress and red lips to match, and David in a black tux with a red bowtie and cummerbund.

Maddie: See, I knew we'd have fun once we got here.

David: Absolutely Mrs. Addison.

They stare into each other's eyes and feel the love between them.

David: I just can't wait until midnight so I can kiss you.

Maddie: Why wait then?

They lean together and kiss and sway together and everything else falls into the background as if they're the only two in the room. Behind them the countdown begins….10, 9, 8… Maddie closes her eyes and opens them and looks at David.

Maddie: David…

7, 6, 5…

David: Maddie…

4, 3, 2…

Maddie: I think I want to have another baby.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

TO BE CONTINUED.
