AUTH NOTE: I didn't really correct this grammatically so there is probably misspelled words in here. SORRY!
JAKE
"Echko!"
People were stepping forward but I was already behind her so I caught her before she hit the ground.
I lifted her up and set her on the couch.
In the commotion I didn't notice that Quinn looked like she was about to pass out as well, until I saw Mike lead her to the recliner.
"What happened Quinn?" I asked as I held onto Echkos hand.
"It was like she was trying to take all my energy." Quinn mumbled as she laid back, "And I could hear her screaming."
I gripped Echkos hand, "I'm here." I whispered in her ear as I rested my head next to hers.
"I'll save her a plate she can eat when she wakes up." Raj told me, "But guys breakfast is ready. I made more than enough."
When the others slowly went to the table I stayed with Echko. Right now she looked peaceful but from what Quinn just said…
The dining room wasn't separated by a wall from the living room. It was split from where carpet met wood. So with everyone seated and talking I could still hear them and they could hear me.
"Do you think this will make Aleister cancel that important meeting?" Raj asked as he set the food on the table.
"Check your texts. He already did." Mike said through a spoonful.
"Ew mouth closed while eating." Estela grumbled.
"Apparently they are already on their way. Little mini Aleister is staying with grandma because they didn't know if anything crazy was going to happen with Echko suddenly here." Quinn said from her spot.
I guess she was tired to move.
"Do you think anything is going to happen?"
I looked at Quinn for her answer.
She looked at me, "I think her memories are right there. So close but blocked by something. Right now I don't know if it's maybe blocked for a reason."
"A reason?" Diego questioned.
She nodded "I heard her screaming in there. What if someone on the island or she could've done it herself, erased her memories because it was painful, maybe eating away at her." She started to look sad.
"Echko wouldn't do that to herself. She'd want to live with her memories no matter how good or bad." Estela had a hard look no her face.
Diego nodded, "I know her. She wouldn't do it but it's a possibility someone did it to her."
Mike set his fork down, "What if she did? We haven't seen her in five years. We've all changed, it could be that last year she decided to do it or even a month ago."
"She told me she couldn't remember much of the time before the island." I told them as I leaned in to Echko.
"Jake."
I kept looking at my beautiful wife, "I told her it didn't matter but now what if something like this happened to her right before we left to the island"
No one responded because Echko started muttering in her sleep. Nothing I could make out until she started screaming.
"NOOOOO!" She screamed and sat up, now wide awake.
I maneuvered myself on the couch, sitting right next to her as I threw my arm around her shoulders, pulling her into a side hug.
She was shaking and I could see she was startled by something.
"I'm okay." She muttered while cupping her forehead in her hand.
"Does your head still hurt?" I whispered to her.
"I'm fine, just hungry." She mumbled.
I slowly led her to the table and sat next to her. Everyone at the table was looking at us, not eating. I shot them a look of annoyance and they went back to eating but slowly now. We ate in silence and when Echko was finished she just wanted to sleep.
"If you need anything let me know." I told her as she settled in her room.
I stood in the door way watching her moving about. I dreamt of her being here a lot and now that she was… It hurt that I was a stranger to her. It hurt that this very room I dreamed about how if she was here we would turn it into an office and then maybe a nursery.
"Are you okay?"
I flinched when I realized how close she got and I didn't notice. Not surprising since I had let my guard down from her a long time ago.
"Sorry Princess." I muttered.
I couldn't handle it anymore so I stepped out and went back to join the others.
