JAKE
I slowly walked back to the living room where everyone was gathered.
"Here." And passed the crumpled check to Aleister.
"For everything I did." Grace read aloud when her husband just stared at it.
"Nothing can make up for that." Aleister sneered and before he could crumple it some more Grace slipped it out of his hand.
"The dates for tomorrow!"
Currently my mind was on the girl down the hall. Who I had just kissed and she kissed me back… Now that she was back I didn't want to be apart from her.
My phone buzzed and when I looked down I saw AMY flashing across the screen. My stomach dropped and I squeezed the phone in my hands. I couldn't be with her anymore but it wasn't fair to end things over the phone.
I ignored the call and turned back to all the visitors.
"So Rourke knew about her being here."
"He went missing when we destroyed everything so that means sometime after we left Echko found him."
"The first chance we get we have to ask about her dream. It was probably a memory."
I nodded in agreement, "If it was then it wasn't good." I really didn't want to think of how alone she was after we left.
"Do you think we need to go back?" Sean asked.
We all froze.
"We barely made it out of there! In fact we were the only time line that did make it out!" Craig yelled.
Quinn shivered at his words and yes it was weird to think of it like that.
Michelle put a hand on his shoulder, "He's right. Do we really want to go back to running through the jungle?"
Grace frowned, "We all have lives here should we risk it?"
Zahra frowned, "I don't think we need to go back. She's here and we should just go back to our lives with Echko now in it."
Raj nodded, "Yeah! We should be happy and celebrate! She's here with us now. We don't need to know why."
Aleister sighed, "This check could mean it's his way of apologizing, makes sense with his memo line or something happened that needed to be changed."
"What do you mean?" Diego asked from right next to me.
"This amount could easily buy the company out. What if she was sent to buy Rourke Industry and build something. The things he would build…"
We all knew were terrible.
"No! I know she wouldn't be here for anything bad, I believe the first option. Maybe Rourke did have a change in heart." Diego looked around to see if anyone agreed with him.
I knew who scoffed right away and when he almost ripped up the check -that he took back from Grace- Sean snatched it from his fingers.
"Either way we hold onto it for now." He stuffed it in his wallet, "Now I say we go back to normal except now we have Echko here, I say this is a good thing."
"Until she remembers, she might insist on going back." Estela muttered.
Sean agreed, "We'll come to that if it happens."
Craig looked like he was about to speak before Echko walked right in. Diego went straight to her and grabbed her hands.
"Please tell us what your dream was. It could help us figure things out."
She looked like she was about to object but when she looked at him she must have seen something in his eyes that made her stop.
"There was a blue guy." She murmured.
