Peace shattered
May's POV
Misty leaned over the sink, splashing her face.
"What's wrong Misty?" I asked, patting her back.
She seemed distressed. Why did she want me to come too?
"I feel hot and flustered," Misty replied, "I needed a break."
"A break?" I asked, rather surprised.
I thought she was getting along well with Ash. It seemed that they would almost have hearts literally wafting up from them. I'd almost felt the heat from Misty, why did she need a break?
Misty nodded and wiped her face with some paper towel.
"What from?" I asked, "If anything I need a break! Drew's torture."
Misty suddenly stopped. "Would you swap seats then?"
I couldn't help but perk. I could get away from Drew and sit next to Ash. That sounded good to me. "Sure!"
Misty nodded and finished drying off her face. Her skin looked fresh and quite pink from rubbing it off. Other than the few splatters of water in her hair, she looked completely fine.
So I gave her a passing glance and nodded. I headed back out and slipping into the seat by Ash.
"That wasn't your seat," Drew instantly pointed out.
I poked my tongue out at him as Misty sat into the seat by him. "I don't want to sit next to you, garden face."
Drew flicked his hair, but I turned away and focused on Ash instead.
Drew's POV
I was in a bad mood now. I kind of wished Solidad were here so I could go off into a corner and sulk to her. However she wasn't and I had to deal with it.
It was hard; watching May and Ash get along so smoothly like that. They were talking and laughing together easily as if they had never been apart in the first place.
Unpleasant feelings bubbled inside me towards the other trainer. I really wished there was a way to wedge myself between them.
I went to clear my throat, but I was interrupted of course; by Ash telling May that what he was ordering would taste better.
"Will not," May argued back, "pizza is obviously going to be the best. Who doesn't like a homemade pizza?"
"Yeah, ok, homemade pizza is going to be good," Ash said, "BUT I'm going to get lasagne and lasagne always tastes the best."
They were both getting Italian foods?
The lady came to order our food with a small notepad and pencil. "Do you know what you would like?"
May and Ash hurried to get their orders in, both talking quickly so the poor woman had to scramble to write it all down.
"Just a few pieces of sushi," Misty said.
I pulled a face and then flicked my hair. "I'll have lightly crumbed chicken strips with a side of salad." I tossed a smirk to May. "I like to keep some health on my plate."
May went beet red, as I'd expected and blew up.
The lady gave a gentle laugh, covering her mouth with a hand politely. "You are a cute set of pairs aren't you?"
The reaction was instant, from all of us. "WE'RE NOT DATING!"
Misty's POV
Later that night, we all ended up collapsing into the same room. It was tiring. Nothing much else happened. We ate, we talked, we argued. It seemed to be a normal dinning experience, except that Brock had deliberately said the word "Date".
When we entered, Brock was already asleep, so we shared up the rest of the room.
We settled down and say goodnight… But I lay awake for some reason.
I could hear Brock's snoring from across the room, but I didn't think this was why I was so very awake.
"No, don't take my ice… Cream," Ash mumbled in his sleep as he flipped over.
Ash fell off his bed with a thump. The covers were sprawled about him and his foot was still twitching on the bed. How did that boy sleep like that?
Drew rolled away from him, screwing up his face. I felt a little sorry for him, having to sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag. Well, he could've chosen to room in a different, but he decided to stay in the same room as May.
May tossed next to me. Her eyes were shut, but I wondered if she were still awake. I never thought I'd end up sharing a bed with her, but I wasn't going to let her sleep on the floor, nor was I going to let her share a bed with one of the boys.
Something felt off. I wondered if anyone else felt it too?
I leaned over and tapped May's shoulder. "May, are you awake?"
She gave a small mumbled noise and turned to me. "Yeah, why?"
"I feel odd," I replied.
"You really feel that?" May asked, sitting up.
I nodded, already shifting out and pulling on some clothes and shoes. "I'm not sure if I'm just uneasy. I might go for a walk."
"I'll come with you," May offered, also getting up, "I wasn't sleeping that well."
She pulled on her trainers and we went out, locking the room behind us so no intruders would enter.
I was aimlessly walking now. I had no direction. May and I didn't talk either, we were just enjoying the night air.
After a while May stopped though, completely freezing.
"May? What's wrong?" I asked.
"I think something's happening!" May exclaimed, "At the gardens!"
"What?" I exclaimed, "How do you know?"
May turned and started running so I instinctively followed.
Our feet pounded on the ground beneath us, running over bridges and between houses. I didn't know where May was leading me, but she looked utterly horrified so I followed.
I was very uneasy now, the discomfort I was feeling before had returned and was churning my stomach worse than ever.
What had spooked her so?
Soon the area I was in looked just slightly familiar. Not very, but slightly and then I realised we were heading towards the secret garden where Latios and Latias resided.
At this revelation, I spurred myself forwards, pumping my arm in time with my legs, moving like a well oiled machine.
We charged straight through the false wall as if it weren't even there. I'm sure it would've looked odd to others if they'd seen us running towards a dead end, but it was so late I'm sure no one would've been out.
When we came out through the end, I was horrified to see the two girls who had been hunting Latios and Latias before.
I didn't see the Pokémon themselves, but I could see the girls avoiding attacks.
They backed up next to their two Pokémon and put on sunglasses of some sorts. They looked around a while and then gave a malicious grin.
"Espeon, use your Swift attack!" Annie exclaimed.
Espeon did as her mistress commanded, following the finger that was guiding her.
I could see where the attack hit one of them, but I couldn't see which. Though after a moment, Espeon was knocked over.
"Ugh, it's Latias!" Oakley groaned, "Ariados, use nightshade."
I gave a horrified noise when Latias was hit, coming back into view. However, it was interrupted when Latios came into view, jumping in front of the attack.
My exclamation had alerted the girls to our presence and they turned to us while Ariados continued to attack with force enough to lower Latios to the ground.
I fumbled on my belt, trying to figure out which Pokémon would be best when I realised in horror that they weren't there.
"My Pokémon!" I exclaimed.
"Looks like we have visitors," Annie said smugly.
"You take care of them," Oakley said, bringing out something in her hands, "I'll take Latios."
"No!" May exclaimed, running towards Latios and grabbing a Pokéball.
"Fine! If you want to be heroes," Oakley said.
To my horror she threw whatever she had in her hands at May. It extended out into a net and closed around her.
The Pokéball rolled from her fingers and she fell to the ground, screeching in agony as I watched electric shocks course through her body.
I went to run forwards and grab it, but Espeon got in my way. Oakley threw another net as Latios and this time she ensnared the poor Pokémon.
Both May and Latios screeched and wriggled.
"Misty!" May exclaimed, painfully crying, "Get Latias out!"
"But what about you?" I yelled back, wondering how to get around Espeon without warding an attacking.
I moved to the side and screamed as a psychic attack was released onto me, pain entering my system.
"Just go! Before they get Latias too," May called, "Get Drew to help!"
This was not time to note that she didn't mention Ash or Brock in the sentence, but the words imprinted in my mind that she only asked for Drew.
Latias gave a cry to Latios, who was being attacked by Ariados for struggling.
The sad sounds pouring from Latios' mouth sounded akin to a mournful 'Go, go'.
Latias seemed to understand and flew to collect me. With a heavy heart I watched the painful scene of leaving May behind. And through the darkness, when the moonlight caught her eye, I could see the glossy sparkle of tears.
My heart shattered.
Me:... Well... I made that somehow more awkward
Everyone: *stares*
Me: Umm what?
Misty: You didn't take forever
Ash: You didn't abandon us with no food!
May: And you know, Drew didn't even get time to insult me!
Drew: Hey, I spent most of my insults when she took a year to get back to us.
Me: I know!
I'm kinda proud of myself for getting this out this time without taking a year. Of course I wanted to be done by last week, but I got sick and I've been having some illness issues. Kinda scares me really O.o But I still got it done within two weeks so yay! Thank you for everyone who encouraged me. I did it for you guys :D
Also... This is I guess where the twists come in :P Since May wrapped up too :O How exciting!
