Seeing Donald looking older than himself was…tragic. After the funeral scare Scrooge had agreed to paid for Donald's molting therapy, but not the prescription hammock. He has a hammock already! He just needs to rest. But here is no rest for parents.
Donald was too young to be a single parent of three boys. He was, what, about 35…? Curse my kilts! He has been a single parent since he was 25! Scrooge thought of what he was doing at 25. Would he have been as successful if he had to take care of kids at that time? Hard to tell. Scrooge would like to think he would still be successful while taking care of kids, but Scrooge wasn't like everyone else. Even still everyone else usually married around 35 and have three kids by 40. Donald never got the chance to be his own man. Scrooge was considered an "old man" by the time he took in the twins. He had been his own man for years and years.
Usually Scrooge was one to say, "Toughen up!" "Push through!" Recently, though, Scrooge had learned about how to take a rest. Now it was time for Donald to take a rest.
