Well, it took me five years but I'm updating this story. I haven't actually watched Agents of Shield in about 3 years but I still really enjoy the characters. So this is set right after Daisy gets her powers and Ward is Hydra...which i think is season 3? I also joined the military since then, so I'm sorry if you're in the Air Force and get offended by my little joke...I had to, though. So yeah, enjoy! If enough people review it then I'll continue this. Peace out, folks.

She had been dreaming of a waterfall. That's all she could remember- she figured there was more to it, but waking from the deep sleep of the tranquilizer was an effort in and of itself. Her limbs felt heavy, her body refusing to move as she willed it to. Her eyelids were the heaviest, refusing to open upon her command. She felt nothing but the cool metal surface below her. Remembering the moments before her deep sleep, Daisy stilled, not wanting to know what she was about to open her eyes to.

"I know you're awake," A deep voice said. Daisy knew that voice. The sad part was she wasn't even surprised to hear it. Refusing to open her eyes, Daisy sighed in frustration,

"Oh you've got to be kidding me." She scrunched her eyes tighter, as if it could block out Grand Ward's presence. Wishful thinking, she thought to herself. She heard rustling far away, finally opening her eyes at the foreign sound.

She was in a concrete room. A single window hovered over a metal-framed bed in the far corner. The door was huge, titanium steel she could only imagine was fashioned just for her. She herself was lying on an examination table, her wrists bound to the metal with leather straps. She scowled at the restraints, balling her fists while she tested the tightness of the straps.

"That won't help you," Grant Ward said, rising from his metal chair. He was wearing a military uniform, grasping a clipboard in his right hand. Her heart rate increased, her body still not quite used to seeing him as her enemy. She took a deep breath, examining the officer chevrons on his collar, scoffing,

"Wow, I guess they really do promote anyone these days," She shook her head, resting it against the cool medal, "didn't know they did that to murderers and traitors. Hydra's more lax on their standards than the Air Force."

Grant didn't laugh, but a ghost of a smile appeared on his face, "You know I used to enjoy your sass." Daisy focused her stare on the ceiling above her, noting the stains on the concrete ceiling. A single light bulb illuminated the entire room, casting shadows on each corner. After she didn't reply, Ward continued,

"Are you comfortable?" His voice sounded distant. She raised her eyebrow,

"Never better."

"Good." He grasped the metal chair, dragging it behind him. The screech made Daisy flinch, and she cursed herself for showing her fear so obviously. Ward brought the chair closer, until he sat only inches from the examination table. Reclining in the chair, Ward flipped open the clipboard.

"Tell me about your powers." The request was a command. Daisy still refused to look at him.

"Let me out of these restraints and I can do you one better," She said. Ward laughed, genuinely laughed, shaking his head.

"Tell me about your gifted friends, the ones Shield has been monitoring"

"Sorry, the details of the SHIELD X-Men academy are confidential-" Ward shot from his seat, slamming the clipboard against the metal table. This time, Daisy didn't flinch.

"I'll give you one more chance to cooperate, but after that I can't assure you that you'll be treated fairly," He brought his face inches from hers, her stare never wavering from the ceiling. "This isn't a joke, Skye-"

"Daisy." She finally met his stare. He cocked his head, glancing at the papers once again.

"Daisy Johnson. I didn't know you gave up Skye so easily."

"Skye was never really my name-"

"And I always knew that." He said, retreating from the table. He cleared his throat, "So, lets try this again, Daisy." He unsheathed a knife from its holster, mindlessly twirling it in his hand. "Tell me about your powers."

She glanced him over, returning her stare to the ceiling. She swallowed, knowing she was going to regret this.

"Burn in hell," She said. She watched Ward's form enter her peripheral vision, pacing from one wall of her cell to another. He stopped, exhaling in disappointment,

"You always have to make things difficult, don't you?"
