"ANGEL! WAKE UP!" I heard someone yelling from the other side of my door.
I opened my eyes glaring at the door hoping that the person would just go away.
"ANGEL!" the voice yelled again.
"What do you want?" I moaned turning over to lay on my stomach hoping I could suffocate myself back to sleep. It didn't work.
"The final stage is starting in an hour." The person on the other side of the door said. Most likely Gon.
"If you really don't want your Hunters licence though I would be happy to let you go back to sleep," said a different voice. Sounds like Killua. "I mean, less competition. Maybe if you forfeit I could get your licence. Too bad, though, didn't you say you wanted to get your licence because your brother told you too? He'll be upset when he hears about how you failed because you couldn't be bothered-"
I opened the door and glared at Killua. "I'm up. Now be quiet and wait while I get ready."
I sighed as I closed the door and thought about how awful it was that I had to wake up. I pulled my favourite dress out of my backpack and slipped it on. I quickly brushed my hair and looked at myself in the mirror before nodding. I'll get Hisoka to fix my hair into pig-tails later.
I opened the door to see Gon and Killua talking about which of their items was cooler. Killua's skateboard or Gon's fishing pole.
"Stop that argument right there," I said interrupting their conversation. "We all know my cheeseburger backpack is the best."
I giggled as they both looked at me like I was crazy. I skipped off in the direction of Hisoka's Nen said, "You guys should probably stop staring and start moving otherwise we'll be late for the final exam!"
They both sighed and started following me as we ran through the halls to where the final stage was being held. We got to the room where they told us to meet and I told them that I would be right back as I ran over to Hisoka so I could get him to do my hair.
"Hey, Hiso-chan? Can you do my hair for me?" I asked running up to him.
Killua heard my question and dragged me back over to where he and Gon were sitting murmuring an apology to Hiso-nii and he did.
"What do you think you were doing?" Killu scolded me.
I looked at him with a confused face.
"First of all, don't go over to that pervert asking him to do your hair. You should have asked me. Secondly, always ask me first before going to that creepy clown." Killu said.
I looked up at Killua and said, "Killu-nii, you're weird. Hiso-nii's super nice!"
He frowned and pushed my head so I would collapse onto the floor sitting in criss-cross-applesauce so he could work on my hair. He started to do an intricate braid going down the back of my head.
"Wow, Killua!" Gon exclaimed. "How did you get so good at doing hair?"
Killu-nii blushed and off-handedly said, "Well, my sister Alluka always asked me to do her hair for her so I ended up learning from the maids."
"Sugoi! That's cool Killua! I wish I knew how to do hair. Maybe I could get Aunt Mito to teach me!" Gon said going off into a little dream world.
"There, I'm done," Killu-nii said patting the top of my head.
I looked up at Killu-nii and smiled. "Thanks, Killu-nii! You're the best."
I turned around to give him a huge hug when Netero-san came out. "Welcome to the Final Phase of this year's Hunter Exams!" he said, " If you could all make your way off of the airship I can tell you all a little more about the Final Phase!
Me, Killua, and Gon (wait, excuse me, that was wrong) Killua, Gon, and I all rushed to be the first off as everyone walked at a normal pace behind us. Once we got out of the airship we could see all the Hunter examiners and helpers lined up in front of a huge hotel. We all came to a stop as Netero-san turned around to talk.
"This hotel is owned by the Hunter Exam Selection Committee. This place is all yours until the battles have concluded. For the Final Phase, we will be holding a one-on-one tournament." he said before he unveiled a board containing the bracket that showed who would be going against each other. "You will only need one win to receive your Hunter's licence. The last person remaining will not pass."
I looked at the bracket for a moment. Hmmmm. I really don't want Illu and Killu to fight against each other. Should I back out of the battle with Illumi? Killua's probably going to be stubborn and say, 'I want a harder opponent' just to be a brat. Maybe I should have it so I face Killu! But I don't wanna have to fight Killu. Maybe I should just let them go against each other. onii-san always did say that fighting is always good to help people sort out their arguments. He also suggests flipping a coin. Maybe I should ask Illu what he prefers. Illu-nii usually has a plan for these types of things. I'll ask him then.
Then Netero-san announced that we would be starting the competition straight away. They led us all into a big room and told us that Gon and Hanzo would go first.
After baldy asked a bunch of already obvious questions and talked to the referee for like 5 minutes the actual battle of wills began. Gon was hit within the first second. Sad. I expected better of him. Then again. He isn't trained so I shouldn't expect so much. Baldie must have trained for many more years than Gon. If me or nii-san train Gon he'll be better then baldie in less than a year.
To my right Killua decided to start having a pity party because he knew he was more skilled than Gon but he wasn't higher on the bracket. I nudged him and said, "Kilu-nii, stop being so upset. You know that you are more skilled than Gon. You know that I'm more skilled than Gon. We both have the same amount of chances. It's based off of our peer's thoughts, right? So just think that it's a good thing that we're being underestimated."
He nodded and pulled me in front of him so he could hug me.
I watched the fight continue on as baldie used Gon as a punching bag. My bangs that had fallen out of the braid fell down onto my face to cover my eyes. Baldie should by now Gon would never give up. He's pointlessly injuring Gon.
Leorio started to speak out as the third hour came to pass and tried to fill in for Gon. Sadly his attempts were futile as if he interrupted the fight Gon would be disqualified.
Then Hanzo broke Gon's arm. I felt Killua's grip on me tighten as I went to step forward about to intervene in the fight. Then baldie went into another long boring explanation while doing a handstand about how he was a shinobi. WAIT! DOES THAT MEAN HE KNOWS WHAT COOKIE CAT'S ARE? Maybeee.
"Hey, Hey, Baldie!" I yelled after Gon kicked him in the face for doing a handstand or something like that. I'm not sure. I got distracted. "Do you know what cookie cat's are? If you do, do you have any on you? If you do can you give me them? I ate all of mine." I said as I put the last of my last cookie cat into my mouth.
He sweatdropped as he stood up and brushed himself off. Then he reached behind his back pulled out a couple cookie cat's and threw them at me.
I smiled and waved while saying, "Thank you mister!"
They continued on with their battle and as baldie threatened to cut Gon's legs off he protested and said, "I will not accept that."
Everyone turned white for some reason except me and Gon.
Gon continued talking and asked if there was another way they could fight. Then baldie blew his top and was like, "DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THE POSITION YOU'RE IN?"
I just giggle on the side as I continued happily munching on my cookie cat. Then Gon pointed out that if baldie was to cut off his legs that he would bleed to death so that was pointless. Baldie got so pissed by Gon's logic that he just gave up as it's probably not worth fighting Gon logic. Then Gon got upset about that too saying it wasn't fair. Then he kind of passed out. Oops!
Then as Baldie made sure Gon would get his license Killu-nii decided to question Baldie's motives in letting Gon win. He explained that he let him win because he knew that Gon would never hate him or be angry at him for torturing him and that he decided that he liked Gon after finding that out about him.
Then Netero-san announced that the next battle would be Hisoka vs. Kurapika. The two of them fought for about 2 minutes before Hiso-nii decided that he had had his fun toying with the Kurta and he let him know that he knew info on the spiders. I should probably ask him about that later. He's not meant to give out info. If onii-san heard he'd be upset.
After that Hiso-nii quickly surrendered. Then was the battle between Baldie and Pokkle. That ended quickly with Pokkle getting tourtered only slightly by Baldie and quickly giving up.
Then it was Hiso-nii vs Bodoro. That was a rather boring fight too. Hiso-nii just played with him until he threatened him and Bodoro gave up.
Then it was Killu against Pokkle. Killu being the brat he is decided Pokkle was too easy and gave up.
Finally it was my turn to fight Illu-nii. I looked at him and smiled as I saw him activate his nen and spell out, 'Let me loose,' above his head. I then spelled out, 'mock battle?' above my head hoping that I could at least let off a little steam. He nodded as the ref. announced that the fight would start.
Illu-nii played around a bit throwing needles as I gracefully dodged all of them. I smiled as I caught a couple needles and threw them back. he glared as I pinned him against the wall with his needles. He pulled out of the wall and walked away saying in his crackly voice, "I loose."
I sighed as I walked back. It wasn't enough. I want an actual full out fight with Illu. I pouted as I sat down Criss-Cross-Applesauce.
Since Leorio insisted Bodoro needed more rest Killu and Illu went next.
I pouted as I watched Illu take out his needles. He still hasn't taught me to do that yet. I really need to get him to teach me soon. I looked over at Killua and he was shaking. Was he really that scared of Illu-nii? Maybe I should have surrendered first. Killu doesn't look too happy to see Illumi.
Illumi then decided to go on about how their mom was so proud that Killu cut up her and Milluki. Then he said that she was also so upset because Killu left home. Illumi then decided to tell Kil that he shouldn't be a Hunter because it was pointless as he was already a seasoned assassin.
Killua then told Illu that he didn't want to be a Hunter. However he did want friends like Gon and me. Illu then pointed out how it was pointless for him to has friends for as an assassin, you don't need friends as you will only be forced to kill them and such.
Illu then said, "As Angel is already associated with our family and well liked within our family, I won't kill her. However, Gon on the other hand I could kill right now." He pause for a second before realizing, "Wait, I can't kill Gon right now because I really need the Hunters licensee for my job. However, it won't be a problem if I kill him after the Exam. Will it?" his last question directed towards the ref.
The ref. shook his head and Illumi continue on with his rant.
"Then I'll just kill him after the Exam. That is, unless you do what I say. Go home Kil. I know what's best for you. Never go against an enemy you can't kill. I drilled that into you." he said.
I stared at my lap as Illu continued trying to drown them out. Never get involved in a fight you're not apart of when with people you like. I really need to have a good fight with Illu after this finishes. I need to get out my anger on him.
"Either give up and I will kill Gon or beat me. You know what you have to do Kil. Make your choice." Illu said as he infused his Nen into his voice and eyes.
"I surrender." Killua said dejectedly after a moments thought.
Illu smiled as he heard Killu's choice. "Good job Killu! I lied though. I won't kill Gon. It was a test. See you're just a cold-hearted killer Kil. You don't need friends. When the time comes, I'll let you take the Hunter Exam again. You don't need your license just yet." Illu responded smiling, as much as Illu-nii could, as he walked back to his spot on the side.
I kept looking down at the floor knowing what was to come. The battle between Bodoro and Leorio started and Killua quickly intervened and killed Bodoro before any fighting started. I sighed as I heard the Hunter committee disqualify him and heard him walk out the doors. I slowly got up and grabbed Illu's hand and dragged him outside near the forest.
Then I completely blacked out as I let her take full control. When I came to I saw Illu a mess on the floor. I healed him enough so that he looked fine on the outside but was still a mess on the inside and dragged him back inside.
By the time we got back inside everyone was heading into a conference room where we received a folder with our Hunter License and information about it. I quickly grabbed mine and left, leaving a note with Kurapika for Gon saying, 'meet you there.'
