A Different Kind of Love Part 2

So far from the reviews I've gotten, everyone really seemed to like chapter 3, A Different Kind of Love. I'm not sure if the pranks were that funny or if you guys just really hate Jesse and Riley. (Not that there isn't reason to.)

In either case, I got some new ideas and figured it was time for Round 2!

Jesse massaged her forehead with both hands as she stood in the shower, shampoo running through her hair. This prank war between Cameron and Riley was starting to wear on her nerves. Not that it wasn't funny, though Jesse would never admit that, but Riley's tortured screams every day were beginning to irritate her. Even worse, when she was in a particularly mean mood, Cameron would sometimes include Jesse in her jokes.

At least Derek was speaking to her again. She didn't know what she would do if he had abandoned her completely. He was the last sane thing in her life. The General was a lovesick puppy, and his badass mom was treating a machine like a daughter. And now more machines were joining them, like Catherine Weaver.

Jesse stepped out of the shower and began to dry off. A nice, relaxing cleanse was just what she needed. All the day's troubles would go down the – what smelled weird? It seemed like her hair was giving off a thick paint-like scent. Quickly, Jesse wiped away the condensation on the mirror.

Oh, good. Her hair was still there, and just as pink as before.

Wait…pink?!

"CAMERON!"

"Nice hair, princess!" Riley teased during breakfast.

"Go to hell," Jesse snapped.

Derek at least seemed somewhat sympathetic. "Aw, come on babe. I think it looks cute."

"I could wear a tube sock on my nose and you'd think it was cute," Jesse said. "John, can't you tell your sexbot to lay off?"

John finally managed to take a deep breath after holding in his laughter. "I'll try, but she might not listen. Might help if you didn't call her a sexbot."

"Especially when she is sitting right next to you," Cameron agreed.

Riley suddenly noticed her phone going off. She picked it up hesitantly. "I don't recognize this number. Who is this?"

A deep trucker voice responded, "Someone looking for a good time, baby."

"EW!" Riley nearly dropped her phone. "How did you get this number?"

"From your bathroom stall at the strip club, baby."

Riley hung up. "Gross! I've never been inside a strip club! How'd my number get in there?"

The phone rang again, this time with another unknown number. Before Riley could answer, Cameron stood up and collected the plates. "We must leave for school. I would suggest you leave your phone at home."

"And that concludes our lesson on the Civil War. I will expect you all for the test."

Riley rolled her eyes. Another boring history class was over. After traveling from the future, she just wanted to enjoy the present. Maybe some pizza in the cafeteria would cheer up.

She stood up from her seat, only to feel something heavy drag behind her. She turned around to see it but saw nothing. The weight was following her from behind. Some of the students began to laugh at her.

"What is so funny?" Riley shouted.

"Do you and the chair need some alone time?" One of the boys asked.

Riley reached behind her to feel the chair was attached to her butt, along with something sticky on the side. It was glue. She had been glued to her seat. Frantically, she tried to yank it off, but it was stuck tight.

"Help me!" She shouted.

Two of the girls moved behind her and gave a sharp tug. Riley fell forward and felt the weight leave, as well as a brisk chill. Even more laughter came from the other students. Riley knew instantly what had happened.

She reached into her pants and took out her phone. "Hey Jesse? It's Riley. Can you bring me some pants?"

Nothing could be more embarrassing than showing the entire class your underwear. Riley couldn't help but wonder how Cameron knew which seat she had and how strong of a glue she had actually used. The art supplies the school had could barely hold macaroni on paper.

These questions were replaced by seething hatred when she ran into Cameron in the hallway. She kept her Terminator stare as she approached.

"What do you want?" Riley spat.

"I feel bad for the prank I pulled on you," Cameron said. "So, I decided to get you a present as a way to apologize."

She held up a pristine book that had a romantic image of a young couple in a wicked embrace. Riley's jaw dropped as she realized it was the newest addition to her favorite romance serial. She had been saving up for it for a year. But when she reached for it, Cameron dropped it to the ground seemingly by mistake. Without thinking, Riley bent over to pick it up.

And then she heard a familiar ripping sound.

More students were laughing their heads off while Cameron walked briskly away. Closing her eyes, Riley took her cell phone out of her pocket. "Hey Jesse. Me again."

Riley had been happier to be home. Three pairs of pants and endless humiliation were enough for her. It would be great to get back to Jesse, the only person who understood her plight. Lord only knew what Cameron would be putting her through.

To her surprise, Jesse was happily eating a bowl of unshelled walnuts. Buried in her newspaper, she shoveled the treats into her mouth as if she had never eaten a nut before. "Hello, Riley! How was your day?"

Jesse was suspiciously happy. "What's up with you?" Riley asked.

She held up her bowl of nuts. "Derek made these for me. We're finally on speaking terms again. He said later he was going to take me out for a nice dinner with wine and candles. It feels like things are finally going back to normal between us."

"So that's why you're so happy?" Riley asked.

"Yeah, I guess it is," Jesse said. "I couldn't imagine life without him."

Riley heard her phone ping. Cameron had sent her an email titled "I helped prepare the treats. Watch how." Riley opened the video attached and nearly dropped the phone in shock.

"Uh, Jesse?" Riley called. "You should stop eating those."

"Why? What's wrong?"

Riley rewound the video and held her phone in front of Jesse. In the video, Derek placed the walnuts into a bowl without taking off the shells. He then left the room. A few seconds late, Cameron entered the room without her pants on.

"What is she doing?" Jesse asked.

As the video continued, Jesse's face slowly contorted into one of horror. Her mouth fell open and her eyes widened. The nut in her hand fell to the floor through her fingers. She felt monstrously sick and rushed to the sink to vomit.

"Yeah," Riley agreed. "That's…uh…that's just wrong."

The door closed behind them and Riley and Jesse prepared for bed. "Finally, the day is over," Riley groaned.

"Yeah," Jesse said. "Can't even leave food alone in this place."

"What is with her lately?" Riley asked.

"I don't know," Jesse said. "Maybe it's some kind of Terminator teenage rebellion or something. I'll ask John and Sarah if they can do something."

"Sarah might be better," Riley said. "She's still washing that bowl."

"At this point, she should throw it out," Jesse said. "I'm never eating out of that thing again."

After they changed, they began to get into their beds. Jesse put her hands underneath her pillow for comfort when she felt something soft against her fingers. For a brief moment, she was afraid it was a booby trap, but nothing snapped over her hand or sprayed out at her. Curious, she grabbed the object and took it out for inspection.

It was a pair of black, lacey panties. And they weren't hers.

Upstairs, John and Cameron were peacefully reading their books. By now, Jesse had to have walked into their trap.

"Hey, something just occurred to me," John said. "Do you think Jesse's smart enough to figure out we just placed your underwear in her bed and didn't do anything?"

A loud scream sounded from downstairs, along with a series of thumps. John got out of bed and came to the window where the thumps were leading. Outside, Jesse was marching to the yard with her mattress under one arm and a can of gasoline in her opposite hand.

"Apparently not," Cameron said.

John laughed and crawled into bed next to his girlfriend. "I gotta say, as much fun as this is, I think we need to lighten up. That nut thing was a little too far."

"I cannot stop," Cameron said. "It is how I show my love and affection."

"You love Jesse and Riley?" John asked incredulously.

"Oh yes," Cameron said, turning to him with a smile. "I love to drive them crazy."
