Hanna and Caleb walked towards the police station in silence. She felt uncomfortable after talking to the rest of their friends about the idea of finding the girls. The plan was simple as far as her friends were concerned. They would send a message to A letting him or her know that Hanna and Ali would be without police protection, and while they did that Caleb and Ezra would try and follow them when they went to meet A. However, her friends were unaware of the fact that Hanna actually planned on getting herself captured by A so that he could take her to the girls. It seemed like the perfect plan. She would knock out Alison before they reached the place where they would meet A so that A would only take her. To ensure that she and the girls would be rescued, she would wear a tracking device so that Caleb could keep a track of her whereabouts.
Hanna felt a lump inside her throat, realizing that doing that would mean to betray all of her friends. Toby, Paige and Ezra had agreed to work with Alison only because she asked them to. And now she would betray all of them by using Ali as a bargaining chip. She planned on keeping Ali away from A in the beginning so that she could use her later on to bargain for her and the girls' freedom if she needed to since she knew that Alison was the one A really wanted. Hanna hoped that the plan wouldn't come to this. The whole purpose of the tracker was so that Caleb could find and rescue them but Hanna knew that sometimes things don't go as planned so she knew she needed a backup plan in case something went wrong with the tracker.
Hanna was so deep in her thoughts that she nearly jumped out of her skin when Caleb brushed his hand against her neck once they arrived at the police station. "Hanna, look at me. It will be alright. We'll get them back, I promise. Now go talk to Mac and I'll wait for you here, okay?"
-"Caleb, I know I don't remember much about any of this but I do remember one thing. I loved you and that's what kept me going through this whole mess. You were the piece that held me together." She then turned on her heels and headed inside the police station, Caleb's eyes following her.
-"Hey, Dad. How is everything going?" Hanna stepped inside Jessie's office and narrowed her eyes. On the wall there was a timeline written with different types of arrows and colors connecting her and her friends to everything that happened in their last two years of high school. "Is that a timeline?"
-"You're not supposed to see it actually. It contains a lot of sensitive information. Gabriel Holbrook created it when he was assigned to this case. What's going on?" Mac led Hanna out of the room. She gave one final look behind herself before she remembered the last time she had seen that timeline
Hanna placed the flowers on Pam's desk, nervously looking around. She noticed someone walk past a board that was in one of the conference rooms. Frowning, she silently started walking in that direction. She gasped as she quietly entered the room and noticed Wilden's picture was posted in the middle of it.
There were more pictures, however. Of herself, her friends, their families, Jenna, Garett and pretty much everyone they ever ran into had a picture posted on that wall. Question marks and arrows connecting everyone filled in the blank spaces.
-"I wanted to talk to you about something. Mind if we go for a walk? I'm starving and I'm guessing you haven't had lunch yet either." Hanna snapped away from her path down memory lane and turned her attention back to Mac. She and Mac left the building and Caleb followed them silently.
-"So what exactly are you planning on doing?" Mac asked Hanna after they placed their orders inside the Apple Rose Grille. Caleb took a sip of his water, waiting for Hanna's answer as well.
-"I plan of setting a trap for A. I talked to the rest of my friends' significant others. They all agreed to make A believe that Ali and I were willing to escape police protection and meet up with him or her and A will lead us to the girls."
-"Hanna, it is the police's job to find this person and stop them. It's our job to find those girls. You don't have to put yourself at risk. I won't let you do this." Mac frowned at her. Hanna sighed, knowing that would be his reaction to the news. She could only imagine what his reaction would be if he knew that she was planning on ditching Ali and letting herself get captured by A.
-"I know you don't like the idea but the police spent five years searching and they found nothing. Meanwhile, if you use Ali and me as bait we would have a better chance at succeeding. Plus it's not like you or Jessie will allow us to go see him unprepared. A just needs to think that we escaped protection. I want to see those girls back too, dad. "
-"So what do you suggest we do?" Mac sighed, exasperated. He couldn't deny her the fact she was telling the truth. Ever since he and Jessie started working on the case questions kept on pilling up.
-"Like I said, we use me and Ali as bait and have Caleb and Ezra discreetly follow us. Meanwhile, the police can be on standby and when A shows up to meet us, you guys can show up and arrest him and make him lead us to the girls." Mac frowned while his eyes scanned the room. He shifted his hands slightly and Hanna bit her tongue, relieved. One of Abby's best friends couldn't talk so she and Mac would use sign language. Mac used his hands to express not only his concern but also his reluctance at agreeing to the idea.
Caleb picked up on Hanna's tone easily and understood quickly that for some reason Mac agreed to Hanna's plan of rescuing the girls.
-"Which leaves the question, how do we send him a message?" Mac leaned on his chair after he finished eating. "It's not like he's going to pop up like a girl in a birthday cake."
-"Easy. We hold a press conference and use it as a way to send out the message. A will most certainly pay attention to such a thing. Tanner will throw a fit, though. She has spent years being attacked by their news coverage."
-"It's a good thing she's not in charge anymore and that Jessie is." Hanna clenched her teeth, remembering that it was Tanner's investigation of Mona's murder that got her arrested in the first place.
Spencer woke up with a gasp. A had been very quiet the past few hours and she knew for a fact that meant trouble. If Charles was quiet then it meant he was plotting something. Something she dare not think about.
As she got out of her bed she heard the robotic voice blasting from the speakers, letting her know to head over to the hallway. She followed the instructions with a shiver. She came to fear Charles' orders, especially after what happened the night Hanna escaped.
Once she got out of the room she was surprised to see both Emily and Aria were there waiting for her. Surprise covered their faces as well when they spotted Mona come out of Ali's room. Charles had made sure that the 4 of them would not be in the same place at the same time after their last escape attempt. What shocked them more, however, was the fact that Mona was wearing her nerdy Mona outfit.
No words were exchanged as the girls were told to head over to Hanna's room. They walked inside it in silence. "What do you think is going on?" Aria eventually whispered.
-"I don't know but it can't be good. Let's see why Charles told us to be here." Spencer turned around to look at the camera. "Charles? What do you want us to do?"
-"Prepare for Alison's and Hanna's arrival." The cryptic answer made the girls freeze in their spots. Just what exactly had Charles meant by that? He had told them a long time ago that Hanna was dead. What was going on?
Eventually, Emily turned her head around and spotted a small envelop waiting for them on Hanna's desk. "Guys, Charles left us an envelope in here. What the hell?" Emily gasped as she saw the contents. "Oh my God! These are pictures of Hanna and Ali and they seem to have been taken recently."
She dropped the pictures on the bed and Spencer took one of them, studying it carefully. It was a picture taken just as Hanna and Ali were leaving the Brew. She noticed Hanna's dark short hair and Ali's tired eyes. Also, Caleb followed them in the background.
-"I don't understand it. How could Hanna betray us like this? How could she abandon us?" Aria's voice was filled with sorrow and betrayal. Spencer bit her lip, closing her eye for a brief moment. She could only assume that Hanna's betrayal had been caused by how she escaped the dollhouse.
When Spencer opened her eyes she looked at Mona, the same determination burning in their eyes. If Hanna managed to make it out of that rat hole then so would they. Even if it meant burning the place to the ground.
-"Does it matter? Hanna and Ali are coming home. So let's get ready for their arrival. We have to make it a perfect homecoming for them, especially for Ali. After all, she and Charles are both members of the DiLaurentis family so we need to be sure that their arrival will be one epic surprise."
