They let the event with Tanya slide, passing it down to stress and delirium. She was insistent that it was due to her not having her medication but her worries were easily and quickly brushed off by Carlisle who had confirmed with her that she just was experiencing withdrawal as the medication had been a part of her life for a long time and she did not take appropriate dosages. She tried to argue but was quickly shut up by Marcus' glare, to which she crossed her arms over her chest and pouted.
This earned a laugh from about everyone. Diane and Leo had calmed down and had been chatting with Peter and Charlotte more, they had been familiar with each other, Jasper joining in at times as they shared the more positive memories from the overall negative outcome.
Marcus and Edward had a long heart to heart after which the Cullen's seemed to take to him, especially after he had explained his "blood" practices. Humans had never been harmed, they had been rewarded for "donating" blood. They had been consenting, for most part, rarely were the not consenting and if it came down to that, they were free to go. They also understood his obsession, if you could call it that, with Tanya. They felt the draw to her too, they couldn't explain. He also let Edward know about Jasper and Tanya. Albeit they were supposed to be mates, it seemed that Jasper didn't realize or had blocked himself from seeing it. It was not something he could explain as from his experience mates had been forever and the moment they met, they'd know, at least one part. This rose a large discussion between the two men, in private whilst hunting local animals.
The days seemed to pass by like a breeze, there wasn't much happening other than the Cullen's insisting that Tanya go back with them but she had been firm that she didn't want to, there were other things she had to take care of but she wouldn't answer their questions in regards of what they were, even Marcus seemed clueless and then one night, she was gone.
She had taken it upon herself to get out and she had managed to, how, none of them still know, it is rather odd to think about, but she had been quick, an elaborate plan. The woman was a mystery.
For the first time in a while Alice had a vision, it lasted longer than most and everyone at Diane's and Leo's house gathered around her as Jasper handed her paper and a pencil. She was dotting down what seemed to be a group of people, and then it changed, no, it was just a single silhouette standing at the top of a roof top, a cat and then Marcus scoffed, "Fuck."
He was quick to grab his jacket off of the chair, slipping into it effortlessly, "I know where she is, I didn't take her for an idiot, but surely she's not as wise as I had figured her to be, what a mess." He kept cursing under his breath as he raced up the stairs and back, looking for something and then he found her phone, unlocking it, he went through her number book, finding someone's number. He dialed immediately, ignoring the questions arising from others before Alice finally filled the room in once the vision stopped.
The call went through as he placed the person on loud speaker and motioned for everyone to be quiet, "Jodie," He asked, waiting for a reply, "Accepted, call passed through."
Jasper stared at the man, channeling a calming emotion to wash through him, there was so much anger, it didn't even compare to earlier and what he had felt from Diane.
"Marcusssssss," A hiss came from the mobile phone, "It issssss a ssssurprissse it took you sssoo long to figure it out," followed by a cackle and Diane immediately shot up from her seat, having recognized the voice, so did Charlotte. Everyone look between the two comically but they too, felt a large variety of anger, fear and distrust and it hit Jasper like a brick.
"What do you want with her?" He spat out, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Jussssst for fun, ssssshe'ssss quite fun, sssshould've heard her earlier, what a joy." Suddenly there was some kind of static noise, sounding like the microphone was being brushed against something before they heard a weak, yet familiar voice mumble something incomprehensible.
The static noise returned before the person picked up the phone again, "You sssseeee, I know that Diane and Charlotte can hear, you sssssshould asssssk them what it took to get here, jusssssst a wissssssh, really." And then the phone hung up.
All eyes were on the three, whilst Marcus stared at both of the women with a bewildered gaze, seconds later he was out of the house, the door slamming behind him and the car starting. Charlotte and Diane were out the door right after him, stopping the car before getting in.
Everyone else was baffled. Peter seemed thoughtful and Leo was pissed. The man stood up, "I swear that boy brings nothing but trouble, every single place he goes." He murmured, picking up his jacket, "I know where to go, it's going to be a shit show, you might want to call the Denali's, I'll ask a few others around here, it's been a while since I've had to deal with that creature."
Jasper spoke up, "Who is that creature?"
Leo looked back from the doors, his face now grim, "You remember how Maria wanted something better, more effective to torture people with?"
Jasper nodded briefly, still not catching on, "She dabbled in magic, reassembled some, quote on quote, test vampires that she had torn up, created this creature, snake like, but entirely vampire. He doesn't feed off of blood, or at all, he feeds off of emotions, the more agonizing, the better."
The Cullen's stared in shock and Peter scowled, "We have to plan, I know Apophis, that thing…" He trailed off, shuddering earning a furrowed brow from Jasper.
Tanya stared, groggily as she had woken up from what she thought was a nap in her bed. She was cold and couldn't move her arms nor feet, she found herself completely naked and bound in a dark, groggy room. The air felt very damp, the bed itself actually seemed comfortable, save for the fact that she was missing a blanket.
She sat there like that for what seemed to be hours, having forced her mind to drift off to another place. She figured that her foster parents had come to her, to get her and that Cullen's, Marcus, Diane and Leo couldn't do much for her.
She could just sit and wait for the worst to come, the parties they held, the beatings, the passing around, it wasn't anything that she wasn't familiar with. She had grown to learn how to zone out of these things, she called it her secret skill.
She had no idea how long had passed since she had woken up but finally she was broken out of her mind space, the doors opened and shut with a thud. A man with hair tied in a long braid was now staring at her, in distaste. At that point, she realized what was coming and forced her mind to go somewhere else.
She awoke later, feeling pain but not being aware of anything that had happened to her, she supposed it had worked, though usually she would've been freed from her restraints, this time however, they had changed. She was now hanging from the ceiling. Briefly looking down at her body, she assessed the damage, the bruising and bleeding. It wasn't unusual so once again, she zoned out, maybe today she hadn't been entirely good, it really wouldn't be a surprise as she never had been good or good enough anyway.
This time around, she was broken out of her mind space once again yet this time there was some kind of unease that she felt, she couldn't let her mind wander. Her eyes met the same man and he stared at the woman, in wonder, awe, distaste and disgust, all at the same time.
"You know, I paid your parentssssss good money when they ssssaid you'd be easssssssy to torment and get anything out of, but now it jusssssssst feels like a wasssste." The man pouted, sounding like a child.
Tanya just stared at him, not sure what to say before she spoke up, "Sorry?" She questioned briefly earning a bitter laugh from the man before he followed up, "Don't worry, I'll help you get dressssssssssed, I have other plansssssss for you, there's only one ssssssafe way to get what I want."
She wasn't sure what he meant but felt her body crumple to the floor as her bounds had been released. Her knees were hurt during the fall, causing her to wince as she stood up after he handed her his hand which she had ignored. She followed the man as he had beckoned her and slowly moved behind him.
She wasn't sure what exactly was happening but she was quickly left in a bathroom, it wasn't clean, but it wasn't dirty, it confused her but she shook it off, taking a hot shower while being mindful of the cuts her body bore, they burnt at the touch of water and soap which made her frown but she gently scrubbed away the blood. Once she was out of the shower she found clothes laid out for her, they had not been entirely appropriate and she hadn't even been sure how to get into the bra that was left for her. After struggling with the lingerie she had finally figured it out, slipping on the short tube dress that was left for her, it was slightly tight to which she frowned, she was too fat. She choose to ignore it as she forced it down on her before wrapping the robe left for her, it had been a long silk rob, fur wrapped covering every edge of it and trailing behind her as she walked. She wanted to put on shoes but she couldn't find anything so she just opened the bathroom door, seeing the man still waiting for her.
He stared her up and down, assessing how she looked before nodding slightly and moving further down the hallway, they came to a large living area, it was void of people and he just told her to settle down wherever she was comfortable, bringing her a blanket before quietly speaking up, "Sssssorry for the clothessssss, I don't have anything more appropriate."
She just nodded at the man, confused but disregarded it. She was too tired mentally. Finally, she drifted off to sleep and the memories whirled in her mind, and finally, the man could feed. The aura radiating off of the woman was enough to make him feel bloated, so much pain and agony, it had been almost surreal and too much for him.
He had settled down opposite of the woman, reading a book whilst eyeing the woman from time to time. Wanting to see an expression, but not once did one appear, it was just blank, a straight face, yet the emotions that flew out of her, it fascinated him.
He was also curious about Marcus' call. He knew that Marcus was close to the woman but why would he care about a human? It also didn't help that he felt a large array of emotions come from the other end of the call which led him to believe that maybe there were more people behind the girl, nevertheless, it would be fine. He reassured himself before continuing to read.
Hours passed, he had prepared food for the sleeping woman and left it on the coffee table, leaving her alone in the open part of the house as he retired to the dungeons. She hadn't been his only guest, but her emotions were too overwhelming for him to process, some of it was agonizing pain others were just sadness, the sadness actually made him feel sad and never in a hundred years had he felt that.
At some point, Charlotte, Diane and Marcus had turned around and returned to the house, as the women had calmed Marcus down, convincing him that it'd be best to go together than alone. Marcus was fuming and Jasper still didn't understand his attachment to the woman, she was a mere human and then finally, after hours of being ridiculed by not only the Cullen's, Diane, Leo, Peter and Charlotte, but many other vampires in his life he blew up, like a fuse.
"Look, funny man, big man who doesn't even realize that it's his own mate that's currently probably being tormented by that freak." He growled at Jasper whose eyes shot wide open, "The reason I took her from your coven's house was you, you're not safe, not around her, you guys arrive and act like you've seen it all but I've been there every single time, trying to pick up whatever was left after her parents did a number on her," He turned to Diane, "I know that you know what I'm talking about, you saw it too, didn't you? The abuse, you can, in no way, convince me that mentally it doesn't par up with what Maria did, it's much worse and she's on her last strings of sanity."
"I've seen it so many times and every time I try to protect her, her parents somehow show up and do something stupid to make things for the worse." He spat out. The room was silent finally, Emmett even looked away, at Rosalie who seemed to be comforting him, trying to reassure him that it was fine because he didn't know.
"The Major, who at the smell of blood can't control his urges, how do you think I, in my right mind, can leave you with her, someone who always ends up bloodied, cut and bruised?" He said once more before storming off, this time he wasn't returning.
Peter went after the man, feeling a tinge of regret and remorse for what they all had said to him.
Jasper just looked on, his mate, a mere human who was more fragile than glass. A bitter laugh escaped his lips as he rubbed his face with his palm before covering his mouth with it and closing his eyes. His mind wandering off somewhere else, thinking, conversing with The Major.
"Son, you know that he's not right," Carlisle said whilst Esme approached him, her motherly love for him seemed to calm him almost immediately as her hand found his shoulder, squeezing it lightly, "You know that we wouldn't let that happen even if you lost control," She said brightly, brushing his shoulder.
"Ignore Marcus," Diane said, "He considers her a weird daughterly sister hybrid because his mate had always wanted children but was killed by Maria before they could even consider taking in some new born under their wing. Daniel was quite a sweet guy, pity what happened." She murmured, feeling Leo's hand wrap around her, reassuring her.
Charlotte immediately broke out of her thought, piping up, "But, but… Daniel, he's not dead." She stared at them and they stared back at her.
"Uh, Peter took him in, not long after he sent Jasper on his way, he seemed lost, asking for someone named Marcus but we never figured it was that Marcus…." She said whilst deep in thought, "Daniel actually, he should be here soon, I called for him.. shit."
