Her first major mood swing hit her during lunch when Stefan was helping her find the right book to help her study in English class, they had been assigned the project together. She couldn't find the book, she was getting increasing worried as thoughts started filling her head, like dark clouds bringing on a storm. Stefan had turned to her, having noticed her heart rate was spiking quickly and her breathing was getting heavier.
He asked her carefully if she was okay, concern so clear on his face as he stopped his search for that book. She had looked at him, away from the book shelf, shaking her head so slowly with tears welling in his eyes and he couldn't understand why.
"What if I can't find the book?" She asked him, her voice hitched and knew she probably seemed ridiculous but she couldn't care. He realized what was happening quickly and the next thing he knew she was completely sobbing on the ground. He just tried to comfort her, assure her things will be okay as he moved onto the floor to sit next to her. She cried on his shoulder, she basically clung to him for dear life. Somehow, when he asked if he could do something, she manage to tell him she needed Caroline and/or Matt before she knew it he had her phone.
Matt was there quick and Alexis had calmed down a little no longer clinging to Stefan. Matt was quick to her side, thanking Stefan and nodding at the other male before telling him he had it handled. Stefan left the two alone. Alexis calmed down quicker with Matt, he just had this way about him that always comforts her, he made her feel so safe and at home whenever she was with him. He wiped the tears off her face, quietly asking her what was wrong. She told him the truth for the most part, she was scared about falling behind or failing in school. He told her she was an idiot in that joking way the used to speak to one another, that made her laugh, feeling so much better, as he assures her that she can and if anyone can do it it's her. She leaned against him, he wrapped an arm around her and they stayed there, together and quietly talking about grades of all things until the bell rung.
In next class Stefan asked her if she was okay. "I'm just an emotional person." She tired telling him but he knew the truth but let it go, it was clear she wasn't ready to tell him. He hands her back her phone from before as well as the book she was looking for and she smiles.
After school the twins and Bonnie get down to town square, handing out pamphlets for tonight's comet celebrations. Bonnie and Elena both were quick to ask Alexis if she should be handing out pamphlets and staying on her feet for this long, she just told them it was fine because she's not that far along yet. The girls let it go but turn the conversation to Matt for awhile, and their tough situation, before it goes to Stefan and Elena as the trio hands out pamphlets to random people.
"Tonight, night of the comet! Would you like a program?" Bonnie asks offering a program to a passerbyer who takes it before Bonnie turns to the twins next to her, looking more at Elena before to a person walking by.
"Would you like a program? He didn't call, huh?" Bonnie asks as she puts a flyer in someone's hand, directing the last question to the older twin.
"Or text. But I realized we never even exchanged that stuff. We've never gotten to the texting part." Elena admits with a sigh and Alexis looks to her sister, not telling her that Stefan had put his number in her phone earlier today, as Bonnie speaks up.
"That's an important milestone in any relationship." Bonnie comments with a tilt of her head, because he never asked or even thought to get her number, and Elena nods slowly, agreeing with her friend's words.
"Isn't it? The timing is wrong, anyway." The older twin shrugs sounding a little disappointed and those words are what makes the pregnant twin speak up.
"When is it ever right?" Alexis comments because out of them all, right now, she knows the most about poor timing and both girls look to Alexis, understanding that. Alexis is pregnant in probably the most unconventional way, bad timing is written all over her, but she's still trying to make things work and she's not going to give up. Elena shouldn't give up on Stefan because of one small thing because amazing things could come from it but she won't know 'till she tries. Bad timing isn't an excuse because Elena just scared of moving on with her life when she has been feeling like it ended, like she was dead, after her parents deaths but she deserves something good in her life now.
"True, but I'm not ready, girls." Elena tells them both with a sigh, shaking her head and Bonnie shrugs while Alexis tilts her head.
"Who is?" Alexis pushes it, maybe because she's a little insecure about how Matt and Elena dated for so long and only just broke up a few months ago, she'll probably always be a little insecure about that but she also wants her sister to be happy, to move on.
"At least I put myself out there." Elena sighs shrugging it off and she looks so ready to give up but the two other girls will not let her do so, Alexis will not let her sister give up because she can see the look on her sisters face, Elena wants this. Bonnie looks at the oldest twin sideways.
"Is that what you're calling it?" Bonnie huffs at her, because that is so not what the girl has been doing, she hasn't really even been trying. Elena furrows her brow, looking over to Bonnie in question.
"What do you mean?" Elena asks, clueless look on her face as she looks between the two other girls.
"All I'm hearing is reasons why you can't." Bonnie tells her, shaking her head before looking over to Alexis."I mean, Alexis, you're quite close to Stefan, what do you think?" She asks as it's quite obvious at school Stefan and Alexis have gotten close quickly, it's almost like the two have been friends as long as they all have. Alexis tilts her head thinking it over for a moment and everything he told her today when she asked him about it at school, how he acted with her, before she nods her head and looks to her twin.
"He does like you Elena, trust me. I think you should give it a chance." She advises her sister softly, gently look on her face and Elena presses her lips together, thinking about it.
After they finish handing out the pamphlets the girls head home before they will head back out after sunset for the festivities. Having this spare few hours Alexis questions Jenna about her family medical history before calling her Uncle John. It was strange, Jenna seemed like she was holding back something important. She talks to her Uncle all the time, she's very close to him but this time it's different. She's sitting at the dining room table, her phone pressed against her ear as she talks to him, asking about him about her family medical history. Even though her next appointment is a month away she wold like to be prepared for it and also know herself if there's anything in her family medical history that could affect her child. He seems confused as to why she is asking about it, he thinks she might be figuring it out but then she tells him about the baby.
"Pregnant?!" He repeats the word she just spoke because he was never expecting her to get pregnant as a teen, not when she is such a hard worker, so ambitious, always being the best in everything she does and is one of the best students at her school. It baffles him.
"I wanted to tell you in person, but yes." She sighs and he's silent for awhile before he finally speaks up.
"So, the medical history is for the baby?" He questions the obvious, really at a loss for words, and she nods slowly.
"Yeah, they toke a bunch of tests yesterday, just in case, but I need to know if there is something on my side that could affect my baby because some things need specific testing." Alexis tells her uncle.
"On my side and your mothers, there's no genetic conditions, I'm sure." He's been over this before, in the past, there's no conditions and he knows that for sure. The way he says it without hesitation and without skipping a beat assures her greatly. She smiles softly.
"Thank you." She tells him.
"I'll try to drop by soon, hopefully before the baby-" He starts, not knowing when he can visit next and this news not sounding too urgent though now he does have some things to do and set up for Alexis before he comes to town. They both know though if she really needed him or if she'd just ask he'd drop everything and run to her
"I get it, it's fine, I'll see you whenever you come and don't worry, I'm just Eleven weeks." She assures him and he seems a little relieved at that.
"Okay, I will most definitely be there before the it's born then." He promises before he starts asking some question about it. She answers some before she sees the time, knowing she has to leave soon and she tells him that.
"Goodbye, Alexis, Love you."
"Love you too." She says goodbye before hanging up the phone feeling so much better knowing he knows and there''s nothing on her side of the family that could harm her baby. She could hear the reservation in his voice though, she knows they'll be having a long conversation about it when he calls next or when he's in town but she tries not to worry about it now. She gets up and leaves with her sister a few minutes later to town square for the night of the comet.
