Cold, piercing blue eyes. She knows that they just had a conversation, she knows it was a very important conversation, she knows she witnessed something truly horrible, she knows that he just confided something in her he had never spoken about before but she can not remember what. She knows that she said farewell, she knows it was bittersweet, she knows that a girl she loved somehow died, she knows something went really wrong and she knows that he was right this entire time, although she can't picture or remember how any of it happened. She can feel pieces of her mind start to fade away as her bedroom door closes.
Her mind is hazy and confused, she sits there on her bed, the hands in her lap so still. She feels cold and this is the first time in her life she truly feels this house doesn't feel like her home anymore. It's no longer safe. She doesn't recall who was just here, but she can hear the thrum of their whispered words racing like a mytr in her mind telling her that everything is going to be okay, that all she needs to is fall asleep tonight and wake up with the sun.
She slowly shakes her head, letting out a shuddering breath while her delicate hands numbly go to her stomach, and even as numb as she feels she can not ignore it. Everything inside of her, other then her mind, is screaming at her and pleading, telling her, she needs to remember. Her heart, her instincts argue against her own mind. The fate of her lives and others could literally depends on it. Justice can not forget. She knows she saw a monster, she knows an innocent girl died, she knows it tore her heart and she knows the monster might get away with it. Will get away with it if she doesn't remember. If she's able to do that, close her eyes and forget as though nothing ever happened what kind of a world would she be bringing her child into?
A place where justice is not served? A place where monsters roam and hunt? A place where the innocent die and the guilty never face justice? Where even she would be blind to what's happening? Where even she would not be aware of the monsters she must protect her child from?
No, no she can't allow it. It's not right. It isn't fair. If this is the would she really lives in she will not allow herself to be blinded from it and she will fight against it. For the sake of her child's future and Justice...justice for the one that died, for the ones family, for her.
It's like a tidal wave breaking in her mind as she snaps up, ramrod straight in her bed. Her mind settles, the martyr is now only whispers in the back of her mind. A loophole, she found a loophole. Her mind, even in such a state still searches for such a thing. She quickly looks around herself, hands braced on the bed beside her and she knows what she has to do. It seems very very stupid but right now she needs to get out of here, tell someone, before she must sleep and wake with this morning's sun. When she was meant to sleep during this night was never specified. She takes in a sharp breath, getting up, hands going to her head and her mind settling slightly. Her breathes are harsh but slowly her breathing levels and her hands drop to her sides and she's just left standing there in the middle of her room knowing she needs to do something but not knowing just quiet how.
Slowly the girl looks around, not knowing but then she catches a glimpse of her bedroom window. She opens her window, the fresh night air hitting her skin but it just feels cold and unwelcoming much like the brutal hands of fate this very night. Doe like eyes itch from dryness but yet the girl still sees, still looks out as if searching for an answer from above. Everything seems so hopeless, by morning she'll forget and without her memories Alexis doubts justice will ever be served and the truth always hidden which is exactly why she's making the decision to do something.
But to do what? She misses her parents more than ever, she's sure they'd know what to do, they always did. It feels as though something has invaded her home, stripping away all safety and light. Shadows creaking in the dark, things lurking just out of sight. She knows knows someone had died. She knows her own sister is her enemy. She doesn't trust Elena, not anymore, not like she once had and she's not sure she'll ever be able to trust her like that again. Jeremy...Oh, Jeremy, what is happening to her dearest brother? His mind? She's not sure, but there's something inside of her assuring her that he'll be okay, yet she's unsure if that's possible.
The full, bright moon hangs in the midnight sky as she looks, seeing not a single star in the sky, yet as she looks to the moon something draws her eyes down. A car, a car she recognizes pulling up across the street. She doesn't place it straight away, but she realizes as soon as the car sets into park that it belongs to the one she knows she can trust. Her saving grace.
It's like a new sense of adrenaline kicks into her, knowing safety is so close and now she knows exactly what she must do now, although it is ridiculous...and dangerous.
She opens her windows further, as far as possible and in the background, distantly she can hear her sister arguing with someone but she pays it no mind. She grabs onto the window frame, pulling herself up, swinging her legs over the edge so she is sitting on the windows ledge. Bracing herself, the girl looks to the tree that may just be a little too far away.
She's not thinking logically as she does this, she just know she needs to escape, she has to tell someone and that the one she knows would believe her is so close. It can't possibly be that hard to get out this way Elena use to sneak out like this all the time. But Elena wasn't pregnant and that was back when they were doing cheer and gymnastics every other day. Alexis doesn't question herself, and maybe she should but she knows she doesn't have the time so she just hopes to hell this works. She pushes herself forward...
The sun rises, dawn breaks and an expectant teenage girl wakes from what seemed to be an unbreakable loss of consciousness. Eyes, glinting the colour of honey as sunlight hits her face from the barely opened blue curtains. She groans softly, almost inaudible, hand coming up to her head as her headaches while she shift beneath the covers. Her mind is hazy and confused yet she doesn't question it one bit she just pauses for a moment.
"ly,-I have to leave-" She hears the words play out from nearby, so obviously from a recording and it gives her chills down her spine as Alexis pushes herself up, to look. It's only then the girl realizes where she is, she's in her boyfriends bedroom and his figure sits slightly hunched on the edge of the bed, facing away with his head hung low. As Alexis rests there she then recognizes the voice of the girl on the recording, it's Vicki. Then, memories of the night before start to flood to the forefront of her hazy mind.
She remembers a hand grabbing her, being pulled into an empty classroom and the look on the girl's - Vicki's- face. She remembers a sobbing farewell, a bittersweet moment, she remembers love and a promise.
Alexis is breathing a little harsh, as she remembers, realizing Vicki is gone, and she left. It seems as Vicki's voice plays out that she left a goodbye message to Matt, it's something that seems far too much like an ending and Alexis knows straight away that Matt's not at all okay. Instantly Alexis is pushing herself up, pushing the covers away and crawling over the bed, coming up behind Matt. Her body wraps around his,he doesn't even react while her arms slip around him and legs do too. He just lets out a shudder of a breath staring down at the phone playing the saved message.
"-God, I love you so much, Matti. Goodbye"
Alexis just sits there and holds Matt. Slowly as time goes by he starts to relax, leaning back into her, deflating with a loud breath. She knows how much cares for his sister, it runs deep, Alexis imagines it's similar to how she cares for Jeremy but magnified. Magnified because growing up all Vicki and Matt had was each other, no father and a mother who was hardly there. Now Vicki's gone, she's left and Alexis knows Matt must be feeling like a part of himself is gone now too.
Alexis can't even really imagine how she'd feel if Jeremy just left one day. Broken, empty is the only thing that may come close to truth.
The teen just holds her boyfriend, calming him silently, just being there for him, resting the side of her face on his shoulder for that is really all she can do. She can hear his heart beating inside his chest, she can hear his hitched breaths too. One of his hands slowly reach out, coming to rest upon one of the arms that's wrapped around him gently. Seeking out more of her comfort. With his other hand he lets go of his phone, resting it on the bed beside them. The recording, his sister's last message to him over and already saved on his phone.
His eyes slip shut, calming himself down because this time it feels different to all the other times she's left. This actually feels like the end. She's never said goodbye like this before. She talked about how thankful she was, how sorry, how she wants his life to be the best, about his child and the future kids he's going to have, the 'house on the hillside, the good life'. She told him how much she loved him, how she was doing this not just for herself and not only because she wanted to, but because she needed to. She didn't directly say it but Matt could hear it, Vicki was terrified and Matt just feels at a loss.
She helps, Alexis's touch, her love, her presences and just knowing she's there eases it, even if only a little. Her soft hands run over him in effort to ground him and as it's like she can read his mind. Or at least put herself in his position. Her voice is so gently and soft, breaking the silence as she speaks up,slowly, but a whisper. "It's okay, I have a feeling we'll see her again and it's not the end." The ways she says it is a hopeful sort of belief that has little doubt about it. He almost believes her, he wants to.
"I hope so." He breathes out, not opening his eyes, just basking and calming in her embrace. They stay like that for awhile, it's not until Matt actually motions to move away that she lets him go, rearranging herself to sit on the bed. He moves, turning around so he can face her and she's beautiful he thinks, he always thinks that, but he's worried about her. About whatever happened last night that had Tyler freaking out and Alexis so apparently distraught.
He gently asks her about it, about what happened, how she's feeling now. "My head's still really hazy.." She admits, eyes flicking up to him, lips pressing into a line. oblivious to what he is truly refereeing too, and he just nods slowly. He doesn't want to push her, to make her talk about it, just like she's not forcing him to. His lips curl up, in a sad smile as he reaches a hand up to rest on the side of her face. The girl instantly leans into his touch.
"Okay, but you know I'm here for you right. It goes both ways." His voice is slightly raw and strained, looking at her like his both worried and blessed. The corner of her lips quirk up gently and her eyes flick to meet his.
"I know." She tells him, soft voice as she nod, reaching up and putting her hand over his, as if saying that they're a team. He glances to their hands then back to her face, his thumb stroking her check as his baby blue eyes search her face. His lips part and her heart thuds. He looks like he wants to say something, to tell her something, like the words are right there on the tip of his tongue but he stops himself. Instead, he leans forward and kisses her gently. It lights her pulls back and there's a warm silly smile on her face. He smiles but then suddenly, moves away of the bed, smile slipping as reality slowly comes back. He looks to her, soft expression on his face.
"Come on, Hun, he'll be here soon. We should probably shower and actually get dressed."
As she steps into the shower, running with warm water she looks at her arms and torso. She notices light red stains on her skin and fear stabs into her, her head suddenly hurts as she tries to question it. She gasps, eyes screwing up for a brief moment but in the next the stains washes away with the water and she's left breathing harshly and confused. The girl picks up the soap, trying to shake off the horrible feeling she has. Maybe last night was much more worse then she remembers...but then logic steps in, she was at a Halloween party and there's always red paint or fake blood there.
After that little hiccup the rest of the shower went on with ease and it really did wash away a lot of stress she was carrying. Drying her hair, slipping on some of the clothes she had left in one of Matt's drawers and brushing her teeth she steps out of the bathroom, barefoot, venturing into the rest of the house. As she through the hall, she can her the sound of the other shower running and she assumes it to be Matt so she heads to the kitchen to see what she can put together for breakfast. She just gets to the fridge when she hears a voice call out.
"Matt!" The male voice, she can instantly recognize as Tyler calls and Alexis realizes Tyler must be who matt was referring to earlier. Alexis turns on her feet, looking to the source then seeing Tyler's face appearing as he enters the room.
"Oh, He's in the shower." She tells him, warm look on her face at seeing him but the look on his face brings pause as he slowly walks over. It looks like a weight has been lifted from his shoulders upon seeing her standing there.
"You're okay." He breathes out in awe and relief. A confused look instantly fills her face, lips pouting and brows drawing together. She can't even question him because before she can he crosses the room, encasing her in his arms like he needs to, like he wants. Tyler's arms around her instantly calmed her in a way she didn't know she needed. Her arms wrapped around his middle and he holds her like he's afraid to let her go. Worry starts pricking at her, worries about him as she realizes how he was relieved he was to see her, not happy, but relieved as if he thought something terrible had happened to her.
"Of course I am, why wouldn't I be?" She asks him gently, thoroughly confused as she starts to pull back from him. He lets her as he pauses, looking yet again concerned and giving her a strange look as though something is wrong.
"Because of last night You were a complete mess when I got there. I got there just in time..." He states slower, as if she should remember but the girl frowns, she doesn't understand. A look, unsettled and almost disbelieving with eyes wide consumes his expression. "You don't remember, do you?" It's more of a statement than a question and it has her shaking her head, confirming that she doesn't. She's not quite sure what exactly he's talking about but it feels as though if she did remember she would know exactly what he meant.
"Remember what?" She question, worry laced into her voice, tilting her head as she looks at him like she knows this is serious but not quite how dangerous or bad it is. He lets out a harsh breath, stepping back and shaking his head, like he should of known better.
"You said..you- you warned me you wouldn't remember." He says, like he feels stupid but also like he can't believe it. This can't be happening but it's exactly what she told him would.
"Tyler, what happened last night?" She asks again sounding a little demanding but more noticeably afraid but it's nothing even close to the pure fear he had heard come from her last night. She looks afraid too, but she's composed, no longer the sobbing terrified mess he picked up the pieces of last night. She should be afraid, he thinks, hand coming up and wiping down his face. She was right, it must of really happened...everything must of been true.
"You really don't remember?"
"No!" She tells him frustrated, wide eyes. "What I do remember s getting to the carnival, you handing Caroline and Bonnie drinks. I remember dressing as snow white and Matt was prince charming. I remember him showing up with Vicki. Running into Elena. All of us taking pictures for the year book and dancing. I remember you pulling me to the side, you telling me-" "You told me…-" She can't even continue, not being able to remember. Alexis lets out a huff, shaking her head and moving on. "-I remember Vicki saying goodbye. And..and that's it. That's all."
He gives her a look, like he doesn't want to tell her, but like he must. "That wasn't all…"
He tells her how Bonnie had found him with Caroline, dancing, and that they needed to get Caroline out of there. How Damon was apparently there, and that how she, Alexis, had gone looking for caroline or him, Damon. How he helped get Caroline into Bonnie's little car and watch them drive off. He tells her only seconds later how he could swear he heard he scream out, it was so loud, as though a banshee screaming and announcing death it self. How he ran, as fast as he could, like he felt his skin was ripping apart. The moment he saw her, a moment he couldn't believe, across the parking lot while her and her brother had quickly jumped into a car and drove off.
"-there's no way I would of drove!" Alexis cuts him, off shaking her head as it sounds completely ridiculous. She hasn't drove since before the accident and she doesn't really want.
"You did, and something was really wrong, covered in all this fake blood..You were crying and Gilbert he was sobbing. Something was fucked, and I knew you would never be like that if something wasn't really really wrong."
She listened how he told her, she literally climbed a tree to get out of her house (which he realized as he had pulled a leaf from her hair)meeting her in the middle of the road. How he rushed over how her fear visibly seemed to lessen when she touched him. How terrified she had look. How he had to literally grab her to calm down, how when she could talk which was only seconds after how she just pleading to get out of there. He didn't question her for even a moment, even as rage brewed inside him his concern and urge to protect her outweighed it. How he hurried her to the car. How she begged to be taken far away, how so told him they were right, he was right about them- but she couldn't remember what. How she started gasping in pain, clutching her stomach, rubbing her head with her other hand and how she passed out merely seconds later.
That he didn't know what to do, so he drove straight here, to Matt's, because he always knows what to do.
The way Tyler talked about it was like he was holding back, not in the way Matt was before but in a way that draws an instant dangerous curiosity. Alexis is left shocked by him not really knowing what to say back. She just stands there, hearing some of what happened last night yet still not being able to remember any of it.
Her goes to her stomach, she doesn't feel like there's something wrong with the baby but then she remembers the light colour of blood on her body in the ever happened last night, the stress of it all, and it does sound like it could of been one of the most emotional distressed times in her life, may of affected her or the baby. Tyler's eyes go down following her hand, then her eyes trail to his and it only takes a moment for him to look back, meeting her eyes. There's something still and heavy in the air, something cold, something wrong. They both feel it before sharply looks away, letting out a sharp breath and dropping her hand.
"I'm calling -" She starts to say, immediately starting to turn, reaching an arm out but Tyler stops her. Her heart sinking in her chest, worry for her child consuming her entire being. The older male puts a hand on her on the upper arm of her other limb, grabbing her gently, making her pause.
"Matt already did." He interrupts her and her head snaps back to face him, eyes wide.
"She was able to pencil you in for her earliest appt today, she's even going in early." Tyler starts to explain, trying to assure her and it works, as he speaks she feels tension leaving her.
"When is it?" She questions, eager to seek help immediately, protectiveness cutting into her.
"When's what?" Matt asks, causing them to turn slightly as they see the blond male walk into the room, dressed in fresh clothes and a few drops of water on his skin he didn't manage to dry completely He has a slightly confused look on his face but he doesn't seem to notice the uneasy tension in the room.
"My appointment with Dr. Beckett." She says with a hint of confusion and need in her voice as she looks at him. Matt pauses for a moment remembering last night, after Tyler had told him about what Alexis said and the pain in an instant he had phone in his hand, pleading to the doctor. Matt wanted to take Alexis straight to the hospital but they weren't sure, she wasn't awake couldn't tell them and the doctor was out of town for the night so they settled on the earliest point if the day to see her.
"In an hour. Is he here yet?"
"Is who here?" Alexis questions, brows drawing together and nose crinkled in confused and as if on cue they sound of almost erratic knocking sounding on the front door, echoing throughout the Donovan house. She pauses, looking to the two males then at the door before walking slowly to the sound the noise.
She walks up to the door and pulls the handle. The door swings open and her heart feels like it grows twice it's time in size this warmth taking over her. She lets out a shudder of a breath looking at the person before her with wide glistening eyes, she almost can't believe it and the feelings that take over her makes her want to cry, but not in a bad way. "Uncle John?"
"Alex." He breathes out, eyes wide. He hasn't seen her in so long and he was so scared after last night, he got here as quick as he possibly could. Now he looks at her, she's all grown up, things have changed, she's in danger, something terrible has happened but my god just seeing her melts his heart. He can't help the smile, that comes upon his face, especially when she lunges forward. His arms wrap around her, and he is a familiar feeling that just brings a feeling of safety to an extent like no one else she knows can for her. She grasps onto him tightly, closing her eyes, she doesn't know why he's here or what's going on but the one thing she knows for sure is everything's going to be okay, she's safe now. And just like that, dawn is breaking, a ray of sunlight hit her face when she moved forward, wrapping her arms around him. The darkness that loomed, the heavy feeling the terrible night ended with the beginning of a new day.
A beginning of the truth because nothing is ever going to be the same. Everything's changed.
So I kinda wanted Matt to go after Alexis but I didn't feel that would be the best course or ass plausible as Tyler cause Matt would have been looking for Vicki and such while tyler kinda always seeks Alexis out and has that bond with her that makes it easier. Oooft im just really happy and excited for the next chapter now cause baby names will 100% be discussed and more cute moments mixed with some revelations to...various characters. There will also be a lil jump on time
NOTE: I was planning on having Damon scenes and such in here, and the ones that where meant to take place at the start of the chapter will be in as flashbacks in a few chapters. Sorry to those looking forward to that.
Remember to fav, follow and review.
