Set just after Naruto's first fight with Toneri.
Naruto sulks in his makeshift room. Shinzo walks over and sits in front of him. Naruto looks at Shinzo and says "she's gone. she left with him. why would she do that?" Naruto beginning to tear up at the thought that he couldn't save Hinata and now she was gone with another man. Hinata had loved him but he was too stupid to realize it and now she had left with another man.
Shinzo than slaps Naruto and says, "SNAP OUT OF IT YOU IDIOT!"
Naruto is shocked that the normally calm and collected Shinzo is worked up.
"You fool it was all a part of her plan" Naruto looks at Shinzo confused.
"What plan?" said Naruto clearly confused be what Shinzo was talking about.
Shinzo sighs and explains. "Hinata let herself be taken so she could get to Hanabi faster and stall Toneri long enough for us to catch up and stop him. she used herself as a Trojan Horse. She is expecting you to come and rescue her. So, stop feeling sorry for yourself get a grip and be the hero that she needs you to be.
Naruto then gets angry with Shinzo. " WHAT?! you knew about this the whole time and you said nothing about it?!"
Shinzo calmly says, "it wasn't my place to tell. besides she swore me to secrecy until after the plan was already in motion. Your reaction is what was going to sell the ruse, so she let you think that to get a genuine reaction out of you. She also knew that you would try to stop her from going that's why we didn't tell you about it."
Shinzo pulls a small note out of his sleeve and gives it to Naruto. "Here. Hinata told me to give this to you after she was gone."
Naruto opens the note and reads Hinata's message.
"Naruto, if you are reading this then my plan to stall Toneri is in motion. please forgive my deception but I needed it to look convincing, and please forgive me for not telling you about it, but I couldn't let you stop me. I have no intention of marrying him and I'm counting on you and the others to rescue me and Hanabi before it's too late. Please hurry Naruto, I'm counting on you, Love Hinata".
Naruto looks up at Shinzo with determination in his eyes. "what are we waiting for we need to get to Hinata fast, come on!"
Shinzo smirks and says "now there's the Naruto I know" then they gathered their stuff and set out. Shinzo lead the way following a Chakra trail left by Hinata to Toneri's castle.
"Hang on, Hinata, I won't fail you, I swear I'll save you no matter what."
