Chapter Nine:

"Did you hear what happened Habiki?" asked his driver. "Chikao was bumped off last night, you're the boss now."

Habiki had heard about this. In fact he heard of it before it was going to happen, and gave the assassin some extra cash just in case.

The driver turned down a street. Habiki was heading to meet with the Arashi and other gang heads. He would have rather walked, but as the new Triple Threat Boss it was important to travel in style. Besides it was also safer like this.

Habiki's driver pulled up and a building and Habiki stepped out of the car and walked in. When he got to the room, Arashi, Kosuke, and Jiang were sitting around a table, waiting for him.

Arashi pushed a paper in front of Habiki and clicked a pen. "Sign here." he said as he handed Habiki the pen.

Habiki briefly inspected the pen. It had the symbols of the four elements stamped on it. He carefully read the contract knowing to read the fine print. "Congratulations." Arshi said. "You are now part of the alliance."

"Right now." added Jiang. "The entire Republic City underworld is united under one banner.

I layed down on a bench while the healer Tetsu hired healed my the scars on my back. I breathed in deeply when I felt the cool water soothe away the pain. "The scars are healing quite well." said the healer. "It's a good thing you instinctively blocked the flames or they would be worse.

Sela knelt down in front of me and I arched my neck to see her. "You should have known it was a bad idea to trust Yao." she complained

"He was a helpful and encouraging teammate." I complained.

Sela glared at me. "Yeah but he clearly hated non-benders especially the New Equalists. He's the kind of person who would join Arashi's alliance."

"Look I should have realized that." I replied. "But complaining about it won't solve anything."

"I just don't know what we should do now." said Genji.

"We do know that the gangs will try to put more control on the city." I said.

Kuma Beifong was in her office and the phones were ringing off the hook. Her aid Katashi burst into the room. "Chief Beifong, we have gang related riots at the Dragon Flats." he said.

He was followed by more of her officer reporting more gang activity. "This needs to be put to a stop." Kuma declared.

She pointed to her map and directed her officers to the correct locations. "For this one ." she said pointing to a location near the station." "I'll lead the squad myself."

Kuma and her officers rushed down the street. She launched her cables upwards attaching to building and she hurled into the air. Her officers followed suite, and they quickly moved down the street in leaps and bounds.

Kuma soon saw what she was looking for. It was a group of rioting gangsters. She could tell they were from different gangs, based on their colors, and wondered why they were cooperating.

There was no time for that now. A gangster threw a massive rock and the police. Kuma pulled back her arms and slammed it as hard as he could. The rocks shattered it gravel pelting the gangsters.

Kuma pulled out her Katana and lunged at the gangsters. She slammed it against a waterbender's ice spear, and the spear shattered into fragments. She ducked a fireball and kicked, sending a wave of rock at him. The rocks tripped him and Kuma quickly followed up by tangling him with her cables. She turned and help one of her officers bring down the waterbender.

Kuma slashed her Katana at an earthbender who tried to catch it with makeshift earth gloves. The gloves shattered and he clutched his hands in pain. He was quickly taken down by Kuma and her officers.

Soon all of the gangsters had been arrested and a riot van arrived to put them in. Kuma drove them back to the station.

When Kuma had put the criminals in jail, Katashi handed her a phone. "Chief" he said. "It's your brother."

Kuma picked up the phone. "What is it!?" she asked.

"Kuma this is important." Testu said. "The three bending gangs are working together."

"I think I know that!" Kuma replied. "How did you know?"

"Umm." he said.

"Just come down to the station and we'll talk about it their."

I walked down to the police station with the group. We found Kuma interrogating a prisoner. He looked at Kuma and gave her a smirk. "You might have beat me easily." he said. "But their more of us in the city, and you can't be everywhere at once. With all the gangs working together you cops don't have a chance."

Kuma sighed in frustration. "No point it talking to him."

She stepped out of the room and walked over to us. "So Tetsu, how did you find out the gangsters were having an alliance."

"Umm I.." Testu tried to say.

"...I can explain." I interrupted.

I explained to Kuma how we got information about that triads, and how we interrupted the meeting only to be betrayed by Yao.

Kuma growled in frustration. "Why did you do that!" she complained.

"Because I'm the Avatar." I sighed in annoyance. "I can't say I really want to do this, but I feel I must."

"Very well." Kuma said. "I'll let you off the hook for now, but that's mostly because we are overworked right now. I have to go now, because their are more riots."
