Chapter Twenty:

We crept down the dark hallways by the light of my fire and Genji's glove. I squinted a saw a figure walking down a hallway. I whipped around, thrust my palm towards my friends, then put my hand against my mouth. That meant stop and shut up.

Luckily they understood and froze. We watched as he walked by us, and waited. We stood and tried to breath and quietly as we could. After a while I motioned in and we moved forward. We came to the intersection, saw the assassin walking away in the distance, and walked in the other direction.

We continued down the hallway, occasionally glancing back to see the assassin fade into the distance.

Gansu and the others were lead out of a room. He felt a long narrow hallway stretch out in front of him. He heard a grinding sound behind him. A wall was moving towards them. He and the others started walking away from it. Suddenly he bumped into another wall.

The wall was up to Gansu's chest. He placed his hand on it, made a grip, and pulled himself over. After hitting the ground, Gansu stomped the ground. He had done seismic sensing before, now it was his only choice.

He felt another wall, this one higher. He slammed the wall, making a series of holds. He darted his way up to the top. He leapt to the ground, bending before impact to cushion the fall. He got up and kept moving. Behind him he heard struggling, people trying to get up. He was not going to let that happen. "I will survive. I will endure."

I dodged his hand as it swung at me, and the claws embedded into the wall. He pried them out while dodging a swing from Tetsu. I launched fire blasts and air waves towards the assassin and he pulled rock from the wall and tanked the blasts. Tetsu took another swing at the assassin and hit him on the back of the head.

The assassin snarled and rallied harder. He swung and claw at us. When we backed off, he produced large rocks and threw them at us. We pushed and stopped the rocks, pilling them into a huge lump. Then we sent the lump in towards the assassin.

Kaze, Sela, and Genji dived forward to dodge the falling wall. Without Arata's fire, the group only had the dim glow from Genji's shock glove. "Why aren't they breaking through?" Genji asked.

Kaze put her head against the wall. "They're under attack"

"Then we help them" said Genji.

"We need to find a way around." Sela added.

The three of them crept down the hallway, and reaches an intersection. Sela and Kaze peered around the corners, and nodded. The group continued down the hallway and checked the next corner.

An assassin walked down the hallway. The group quickly hid behind the corner, and put there backs to the wall. They held their breath as they waited for the assassin to walk by. Out of the corners his eye, Genji saw him pass by, and he signaled to the others.

Since the assassin was walking where they meant to go, they instead went straight, looking for the next turn. But before they went down the next turn, they saw an assassin walking directly towards them.

Quickly Kaze threw an airblast backwards. The assassin frooze, then walked towards where the blast hit. He then turned and walked back towards them. Kaze padded her feet and walked in the same direction. She threw an airblast and the assassin came towards her.

Kaze backpedaled with the assassin following her closely. Not being able to see, she blew air at the walls and felt it bounce. Once, she didn't she knew there was an intersection. She sent another airblast down the hall, and heard the assassin follow the diversion.

The assassin was disoriented from being hit by the lump, but he was not going down. He lifted his arms up, but suddenly a bola wrapped itself around them. Sela lunged at him and kicked and punched at him.

The assassin cut free from the bounds, and slashed back at her. Tetsu and I quickly jumped in, grabbing pieces of the boulder and slamming them into the assassin. Disoriented from the blows, Sela was able to land shots on his Chi spots. Then Genji came in and shocked him with his glove.

We stared at the downed assassin, one down but plenty to go, and the commotion would attract more. I then looked at Sela and Genji. "Where's Kaze?!" I asked as it dawned on me.

"She lead an assassin away from us." Sela replied.

"Then we find her. Now!"

Gansu stomped again and felt for any more hazards. He felt pillars in the walls, ceiling and floors. He approached carefully. Beside him a pillar slammed upwards into the ceiling. He quickly dabbed his foot forwards, and another pillar extended out of the wall. He climbed over it and felt for more.

He dodged, ducked, and avoided more pillars, some of them coming a bit too close. He heard the people behind him try to avoid them. Not always succeeding. He wanted to move faster, so he couldn't hear and feel it, but he knew what would happen if he wasn't careful. "I will survive. I will endure."

We continued walking through the underground lair when Tetsu suddenly pointed up and shouted "Look out!"

Tetsu and I dove backwards, and the rest of the group lunged forward. A wall slammed down from the ceiling, dividing us. We turned and saw the faint outline of an assassin coming at us. I hurled fireballs and Tetsu shoved a earth wave across the ground. The assassin coated himself, and dove over the wave, through the fire.

He landed and sprayed us with nails. Tetsu blocked them, and I ducked behind him. I peered out, shot a fireblast, and went back to cover. I peered again, and the assassin was closer. Before I could launch another blast, he lunged at me and slammed me into the wall.
