Chapter Twenty-Eight:

A group of resistance fighters clashed with Water Tribe soldiers. They beat them back towards the edge of town. The resistance fighters whipped and slashed with water, driving back their enemies. The enemy counter-attacks were blocked and evaded without much difficulty.

"We're winning." one shouted.

"Look, enemy reinforcements." another warned.

"Keep fighting men. We beating them back." the squad leader reassured.

A fighter looked into the group of soldiers. His heart sank when he saw someone among them. It was Visola and she gazed into the battle with a savage grin. The fighter launched a waterwhip, but his arm kept bending and the water curved and slammed into an allied fighter.

He felt a blast of water hit his back. He tried to attack at the enemy, but his arm was forced to strike at his friends. The newly re enforced soldiers bombarded them with whips and blasts.

The fighter saw something rise from the ground. An icy spike ran through his gut. He watched helplessly as Visola cut through his fellow resistance fighters and made them fight among themselves.

Visola slashed her way through the pitiful resistance fighters. How could her soldiers have so much trouble with such a paper army. Her blades of water were razor sharp and the cut the resistance fighter down to size. She pulled at there limbs and made them strike there friends.

One resistance fighter tried to escape the madness. She reached from him with water and grabbed his throat. She froze the end into a spike and drove it into his neck. She looked back and saw her soldiers had cleaned up the rest of the resistance. She turned to Nao. "See that was a beautiful carnage." she bragged. "Anyone who stands in the way of me and my desires will be cut down without mercy."

"And as long as I am on your side." Nao added. "No one will stand in my way."

"That's right."

I stepped out of the house and saw the resistance fighters retreating in fear. "I thought we were winning." I asked one.

"We were." he said. "She arrived."

I charged at the Water Tribe soldiers, blasting at them with all my might. The soldiers fought back with none of the intimidation they showed earlier. Soon I found out why as a woman emerged out of the crowd. Despite the noisy I environment, I heard what she said clearly. "You're mine, Avatar." she sneered with sick glee.

After the words hit me I froze. I saw her move slowly towards me, her twisted grin becoming more clear with each step. A resistance fighter lunged towards her, but she tripped him onto the ground.

She picked the man up and clenched her fist near his neck. Another man tried to send a water whip at her, but she turned it back on him. She took the limbs of the man and contorted them. "Watch him suffer Avatar." she gloated. "See the pain you caused by trying to escape me."

Hearing those words snapped me out of my trance. I created fire in my hands and charged forward. She made two resistance fighters charge forward and collide into each other. I pushed the flames down and vaulted over the men. I tried to throw the flames at Visola, but she grabbed my arms and made me miss.

She then swung them side to side, and pulled me to the ground. My face smacked into the cold ground. Visola pulled me up, then let me drop back down. She did this a few more times, my face hitting the rough snow. She swung her arms back again, but they hit her in the face.

She looked at them in surprise, but then looked back at me. She swung them again but they hit her face even harder. "Kinto!" she yelled out in anger.

Kinto ran down the frozen streets towards me. "Surprised to see me?" he asked. "You must have known I was in charge of them all along."

"What is this about?" Visola asked. "Mommy? Why do you still care?"

Kinto swung his arms. "How could you even ask that!" he said as he pushed a wave of water and snow at Visola.

Visola divided the wave and tried to control Kinto's arms. They held still for a second, but Kinto broke them free and sent ice crystals at Visola. I joined in sending fireblasts at her. Visola shattered the crystals midair and blocked my fire with them.

She sent a wave of hot steam at us. We bent back and pushed it back towards her. The hot cloud swirled between us. "You focus on bending her." I said to Kinto.

When Visola pulled her hands back to push again, Kinto overextended her and her arms pulled behind her head. The blast of steam knocked her backwards. She skidded on the ground, but gained back her traction and charged back at us.

Visola formed whips with water and began to lash at us. I jumped to the side and a whip crashed into the ground beside me. I jumped again and the whip passed under my feet. I punched two fireblast towards Visola again, and jumped the whip again. This time my legs bent inwards, and I landed on the sides of my feet.

I felt to the ground and the whip dragged me into the wall of a nearby building. I slammed into it and collapsed. I tried to clear my head and get back into the fight. Visola stood over me with the whips. She froze for a second, but pulled herself free and brought the whip down on me.

The water cracked down on my back and stung badly. It hit me and few more times then froze again. The whip collapsed and splashed to the ground. Visola turned away from me and towards Kinto. "You always ruin my fun, brother!" she angrily spat.

The two charged at each other, pushing rams of snow. They ground against together, throwing snow behind them, until all of it was pushed away. The two of them stood glaring at each other, breathing deeply.

I stood up and threw a fireball towards Visola. I ran towards her but tripped to the ground. Visola tried to pull me up, but Kinto made her release me. I slumped back to the ground and looked towards Kinto and Visola as they continued clashing.

With my head still a bit foggy I crawled away from them. I wished I could help him, but I did not want her to use control me as a hostage. I crawled down the street then forced myself up and leaned up against the wall.

I continued down the road still holding on the wall. I soon came across Sela and Tetsu clashing with a group of soldiers. The man leading them looked familiar, he was the man who kidnaped me. "Nao, it's the Avatar." one of the men said as he pointed at me.

Nao ignored the man and continued battling Kaze. She danced around his whips and blasts. "Little brat, you need a spanking."

Kaze formed a scooter and circled around him. "Like this?" she asked as she threw an airblast at him.

The blast smacked Nao in the back and threw him forward. "Uggh, just wait till I hand you over to Visola." Nao growled.

I hurled a couple of fireballs over to Nao, which he batted down. I threw another fireblast, but a couple of soldiers blocked it. The soldiers threw hardened chunks of snow at me, and I redirected them away from me.

They continued pelting me, and I keep on dodging and blocking. One chunk hit me and I slumped down. The soldier came in closer, and I flashed them a smirk. "What?" one of them asked.

Tetsu charged in behind them and slammed there heads together. He then chucked them to the ground and buried there limbs. "That" I said.

Tetsu and I turned to see Kaze still fighting Nao. He was getting increasingly angry as she kept dodging him. Each whiplash was punctuated with with an angry growl. Kaze kept teasing him with giggles and gestures.

A couple of soldiers tried to help out Nao, but Tetsu and I cut them off. He blocked the water whips with thick rock gloves. I hurled fireballs and the dissipated the whips to block them. Tetsu threw his gloves and them throwing them to the ground.

Nao threw two large waterblasts towards Kaze, that spiraled towards her. She lifted up her scooter and caught them. They swirled around her scooter. She hurled them at Nao who panicked and tried to stop them.
