Thank you everyone for the reviews! You guys are awesome! So since it is the new year and all I was thinking about reorganizing Cats Closet and putting up corrected chapters with commas in them! Depending on how my life goes in the next week or so you guys may see chapters shifting around or vanishing. Also you may get alerts that a new chapter has popped up when one hasn't as I figure out all the proper buttons. Sorry in advance! Also once again depending on how things go at the end of the month there may be no update for Cats Closet in February. if things go south at the end of the month I may need a break for a bit to recoup. Hopefully it wont come to that but I'm just putting the warning out there. Finally a bit of fun or good news depending on your view... I have been drawing all of the Akuma and coloring them. Soon I will be posting said pictures in AO3 at the end of each of the stories. So if you want to see what I imagine as I write these villains now you will have a real picture! Its the same author name but you will have to look up the stories individually. Hopefully see you guys again soon!
Qoheleth... Than you for the correction! I will look into it and make sure it was corrected!
potterqueen86... Hopefully soon I will have time to read all the new stories I have written and will get around to posting them too!
Chat discovers fans come in all sizes and he decides his favorites are the smallest ones, as well as one special princess.
Chat's Kittens
Ladybug had all the fans in Paris, or at least she held the vast majority. Her name came first whenever someone mentioned the two heroes, and the Ladyblog was of course named after her. Chat, for the most part, didn't mind staying in her shadow. The shadows were where he could save Ladybug from, where he could taunt the Akuma of the day, and most importantly where he could help people from. Besides, he had tons of fans that would literally chase him around as Adrien, so not having fans constantly after him in all aspects of his life was really quite wonderful. Sometimes the lack of fans did bother him, and he supposed that's what initially started him on trying to help the Akuma victims after they had been returned to normal. Being able to help them was sometimes a rare occurrence since it relied heavily on time they had left and on the type of Akuma they fought. When they did have the time after battles, Ladybug usually took care of the press while he worked with the Akuma victims. Anything he could do to bring them comfort, really, Chat tried his best to offer it. A blanket, something to drink, and with some of the smaller Akuma victims, a chance to play with his ears or a purr. Chat found that he didn't mind helping them at all. Many adults didn't want or need his help, but the children were always thrilled to be close to him since he was a superhero. At first, Chat thought he was being sneaky helping the way he did. After all, while he loved helping others, he liked the attention too but Ladybug always knew what he was up to and started bringing him cookies in thanks for helping when he could. Chat would have done it no matter what but the cookies were definitely a great incentive to continue.
Then one day during an Akuma attack, Chat got hurt protecting a small kid from an Akuma that had made them a target. The child had thankfully been uninjured, even if they were crying because Chat had gotten hurt due to them. Ladybug's Miraculous Cure had fixed everything, including him, but the kid had still been upset until Chat had found and returned them to their mom. Chat had gotten extra cookies that night and even a hug from Ladybug, which in his mind made everything worth it. The next time he saw the kid, they were in recess and when they saw Chat running by and yelled his name. It was rare that civilians called out to him, and being the ever-curious cat, Chat went to investigate.
"Oh! Hello, little one! How are you today? Feline better?" Chat asked clinging to the bars on the outside of the fence.
The child, it was a girl Chat noted, nodded shyly, "Th-thank you for rec-rescuing me! I made you something!"
Now Chat was super curious and he scaled over the fence to drop down before the little girl, staying in a crouch so he wasn't so intimidating or hard to look up at. She was rummaging through her pockets and finally pulled out a piece of paper that had seen better days.
"I wanted to give it to you before but I couldn't find you so I've been carrying it everywhere!" she crowed her body, practically vibrating with excitement as she held out the folded paper.
Chat took the paper with a grin and unfolded the paper to reveal a cute child's drawing of him standing on the top of a building in what he supposed was a heroic pose. He even had a cape on and he was holding a smaller figure's hand. The words 'Yoo are Clawsome! -Lily' were written with a shaky hand and the R was backwards. Chat gaped at the brightly colored paper, stunned and touched and he could feel his eyes starting to tear up a little.
"I love it…" Chat finally breathed, realizing he had been silent far too long and Lily was starting to fidget. "This is going to be my treasure. Thank you!"
The little girl grinned at him then threw herself forward hugging Chat. He let out a startled laugh and hugged the kid back, mindful of his claws as well as the drawing in his hand. Other children noticed him at that point and it wasn't long till Chat was embroiled in a massive game of tag. He stayed until the bell tolled, ending recess and Chat felt the lightest he had in weeks as he waved goodbye to the kids. His good mood lasted for the rest of the week and everyone seemed to take note of it. Nino thought his dad had finally spared some time with him, and Marinette seemed to be even more clumsy than normal. Ladybug even noticed and when he explained what happened she had laughed with obvious delight at the idea of him playing with the children.
"Oh, I wish I could have gotten pictures of you playing with them," Ladybug hummed scratching in just the right spot under his chin. "Never change, Chat."
A week later, Chat passed by the same school and to his delight he spotted the same little girl in the yard, except this time she had cat ears on her head! Chat nearly fell off the fence when he saw them and he beamed as she and five others barreled towards him in excitement. All six of the children had cat ears on, all attached to their heads via bandana-like contraption. They clamored for his attention until the little girl called for silence.
"Hello, little kittens!" Chat laughed, his grin almost too big for his face. "Where in the world did you find those adorable ears!"
Lily, who had started it all, pulled her bandanna off handing it to him so he could inspect it. "Ladybug came by and since it's too hot to wear a cat hat, she said she knew someone who could make cat bandanas! We started a fanclub and these are our official badges!"
Chat felt his heart stutter at Lily's proclamation and he stared down at the fabric in his hands. The top was bandana-like fabric that would keep the hair out of one's eyes and it connected in a loop with elastic so the kids could wear them even as they grew bigger. Black ears sat at the top of the bandana exactly where his ears sat on his head and each of the bandanas were unique since, other than the black ears, the fabrics underneath were different patterns along with different shades of green. Wondering who would have made such a thing, he turned the bandana over and found a cursive M along the one seam. It was practically invisible, and again Chat felt his heart squeeze. It was a good painful squeeze and to his embarrassment he felt tears pool in his eyes.
"Are you ok, Chat? Do you not like them?" Lily asked curiously, a little worried since she could see the tears in his eyes.
"You little kittens are adorable and I love them! You guys are the best!" Chat cooed handing the bandana back to the girl and stooping to give all the clamoring children a hug.
He stayed through recess, again playing with his new fan club and promising to meet up with them one day after school was over. Once the bell rang he waved to the kids as they piled inside with the amused adults and he could see phones in more than one hand as they went in. Chat didn't mind, although he knew Alya would be jealous that she hadn't gotten the story first. Today had been an off-day for them and Adrien's previous engagements had been canceled, which was why he had been able to make an appearance at the school at all. Natalie, at least, would probably start wondering where he had gotten off to so he probably should have transformed back and then returned home. However that cursive M had made him curious so Chat had one last person to visit before he went home for the evening.
Touching down on a now-familiar balcony, Chat grinned as Marinette jumped in surprise.
"Chat? What are you doing here? Are you ok?" she asked dropping her sketchbook to the cushions of her futon as she stood up.
"Everything is amazing, Marinette," Chat chuckled as he waved away her concern. "I just came upon the cutest little fanclub and they had the most adorable little eared-bandanas on."
Marinette blushed, "I… I don't know what you mean."
"Oh?" Chat asked, his grin growing wider as he moved a little closer "They were bandanas connected to elastic in a way I've never seen before. They were all different colors of green with black cat ears on top."
Silence stretched between them as Marinette turned a darker red and Chat wondered if maybe he shouldn't have said anything. Maybe she hadn't wanted to be exposed; after all she'd had Ladybug deliver the bandanas instead of taking them herself. He was about to speak, whether to apologize for calling her out or something else he wasn't sure, but Marinette beat him to the punch.
"S-sorry if I overstepped or something… the kids were just so cute and Ladybug mentioned how much fun you had with them and they wanted to do a fan-club but they needed a badge and it was something I was working on anyways so I had extra fabric…and how did you know it was me who did it?!" Marinette rambled then squeaked as Chat wrapped her in a hug.
"Thank you, Marinette. Those kids absolutely loved them! Your work is incredible as always, but you signed them with your M. That's how I knew. Look… I know those took time to make and stuff, how much do you want for having made them?" Chat asked knowing that he could and would pay her something.
"You're a hero, Chat. And all heroes deserved to be loved. I was happy to make them, especially since those kids will take good care of them. Besides, they are my test dummies for those bandanas so I don't mind at all. I don't need to be paid for them. It's sweet of you to ask, though," Marinette laughed, patting Chat on the cheek as she stepped from his embrace.
Chat didn't want to take 'no' as an answer but he also knew that tone of Marinette's, she wasn't going to accept direct payment from him, but that wouldn't stop him from doing something nice for her in return. "Very well, Princess," Chat finally conceded, only to jump as they both heard Marinette's parents calling for her.
"Oops. I gotta go, Chat! Have fun with your little kittens!" she said slipping past him into her room with an answering call of, "Coming mama, papa!"
Over the next few days, Marinette found little gifts on her balcony. Soft fabric that she instantly fell in love with, small gold bells that had a gentle chime, and a potted miniature rose that even Tiki cooed over. She wasn't quite sure how she felt about it all, but she was never able to catch Chat in the act and Marinette wasn't sure what she would say to him even if she did. Marinette supposed she could tell him to stop as Ladybug, but again, she wasn't sure how she felt about the whole 'gift' thing in the first place. She had made those kids their bandanas because she had been thrilled that Chat had a group of adorable tiny fans who liked him for the person he was and not simply because he was a hero. The children had made a wonderful impact on Chat and she had wanted to thank them in her own way. In the end, Marinette decided to stay silent unless she felt like she hadn't earned something Chat gave her. Then she really would say something, but for now, things were fairly balanced between them. A few days after her final decision to simply let things be, Chat Noir showed up late one afternoon at the bakery covered in children. Two kids held each of his hands, one was sitting on his shoulders, and a third hung onto his tail while the last two darted into the bakery just in front of him. Marinette and several other guests laughed at the sight of the hero literally being covered in children, all of whom wore their cat bandanas. Sneaking several pictures, Marinette watched as Chat set the children up before the glass so they could each pick a treat for them to eat.
"We are on the first ever Kitten Club field-day!" Chat proclaimed as Sabine cooed over the kids and Chat.
Each one of the children picked out a special treat, and Tom refused payment even though Chat pulled money from his pocket. Chat wanted to argue about it but the kids wanted to sit, two were becoming far too curious about a stand, and Chat had to turn his attention back to corralling all six of the kids to keep them out of trouble. Marinette broke into giggle fits as the children all fought for the right to cling to his tail, although Chat somehow managed to soothe the kids into different positions as they left the store.
"Do you want to follow them, Marinette?" Sabine asked as Chat shooed the kids into the neighboring park.
Marinette shook her head, "No, but I already let Alya know about his kittens so I'm sure she will stalk him relentlessly for this. Plus, I have an idea that will save Chat's tail from getting fought over all the time."
Sabine laughed and hugged her daughter before releasing Marinette to start work on her newest 'project'. The next time Chat was able to swing by his Kitten Club's school on a playdate, he couldn't stop giggling at the sight of the six children in cat-ear bandanas with braided tail-like belts in several colors hanging like his own belted tail did. Two immediately took his hands, although the others fell in line behind him with the first holding onto his tail and the rest following suit after. They made a parade going down the street to the utter delight of many Parisians and he saw the familiar flicker of red across more than one rooftop. At the end of his playdate, once he released the children back into the care of their parents, Chat leapt to the rooftops in the hope that Ladybug was still around.
"Your ducklings are adorable," Ladybug called as Chat overshot her position.
"They're my kittens, not ducks, My Lady," Chat huffed as he backtracked to her.
Ladybug laughed and showed him several pictures that she had taken of him interacting with the children, "You'll be an amazing father one day, Chat."
Chat froze at the utter fondness of her tone while her words stabbed at a fear he had never realized he had, "Y-you really think so?"
"You can corral six kids into doing what you want, and so far I haven't seen any of them misbehave with you. I watch kids myself sometimes and I can barely manage one!" Ladybug laughed not realizing the effect her words were having on him.
Though Chat's eyes were very moist in a good way, he joined in on her laughter, his heart bursting with warmth for his partner. Even still, he was careful to subtly switch subjects to save him from embarrassing himself further. Three days later, Adrien walked in on a heated discussion between Marinette and other students in the class. He'd had a photo shoot, and while he could have come to school after lunch, Adrien had decided to join his friends to eat rather than eating alone at home. He came in on the tail-end of the period and as he opened the door, Adrien made out Marinette saying, "Chat Noir probably has the biggest heart in all of Paris! He deserves to have fun with little kids if that's what he wants to do!"
"I'm sure he has some teen and adult fans, too, Marinette…" Alya tried to placate, but Marinette crossed her arms with a huff.
"He is not a side-kick and it's time people saw that! It's not fair!" Marinette snapped sliding out from under Alya's hand.
Jerking upright, Marinette moved to stomp down the steps, and tripped instead as she caught sight of Adrien standing at the bottom step looking somewhat stunned.
"Uh… h-hi, Marinette!" Adrien managed, catching her as she tripped on air landing right in his arms.
Marinette's cheeks reddened slightly as she pulled back, but then her eyes lit up, "You've asked me about Chat Noir before! You're a fan of his, right?!"
"Oh, uh... yes?" Adrien answered questioningly, glancing at Alya and Nino who looked highly amused, "Although, Ladybug…"
He didn't get the chance to finish since Marinette was already pulling him from the room to the astonishment of the whole class calling, "Great! I knew I could count on someone!"
Thankfully, the bell rang at that moment dismissing classes for lunch and neither he nor Marinette had to try and explain why they were leaving campus in the middle of the day. Curious and amused at Marinette's sudden enthusiastic ability to interact with him, Adrien allowed himself to be hauled to her home through the bakery and up the stairs into the living room.
"Are you going up to your room, Marinette?" Sabine asked, poking her head out and noticing Adrien, "Oh, hello, Adrien dear! Do you want something to eat?"
Instantly Marinette dropped his arm, seeming to realize that she had hauled him off with little to no explanation, "Ah, mom! Yes, Adrien is food... will eat food, I mean, gha… I'll be right back!" She sprinted up her staircase without looking back, leaving Adrien to stare at her mom a little awkwardly.
"Did she drag you off without any explanation?" Sabine asked as Adrien looked around himself curiously.
"Yes, ma'am," Adrien politely answered. "I think it has something to do with Chat Noir and being a fan."
"Ahhh, I see," Sabine hummed, waving for Adrien to follow her into the kitchen.
Sabine sat him down and they had a delightfully bracing conversation in Chinese until Marinette barreled back down her stairs, nearly flying face-first into the couch.
"Found them! The extra, I mean! I had mine already," she gasped as she darted back into the kitchen.
Adrien glanced up, then did a double take since Marinette had changed clothes and she was wearing HIS colors. She had changed into a black tank-like top that was flecked with tiny pinpricks of green that winked in and out as she moved. The shirt was tucked into the band of a knee length green skirt that somehow managed to be the exact shade of his eyes. Black bubbles and paw prints decorated the bottom of the skirt while a sheer black cardigan covered in green paw prints hung just-so on her shoulders. To top it all off, she had used the same fabric for a bandana-ear combo, and was wearing it as well as a braided black tail-belt that looped through the skirt.
Adrien's jaw dropped as Sabine set a plate of food before him, "Y-you look… wow, Marinette… green is… wow on…"
Marinette blinked at him and turned bright red, "Thank, Chat. I mean you! I mean, I designed it for Chat. I mean the project we have! I chose Chat... to design an outfit…"
"Marinette, are Alya and Nino coming over to eat, too, or will it just be you two?" Sabine asked, breaking the sudden awkward silence between them
"Oh, I... uh... don't know, we hadn't talked about them coming," Marinette said softly before holding out a second eared-bandana. Like hers, the ears on it were black but the whole top was solid black with green bubbles scattered across the surface. "Um, here Adrien. You don't have to wear them since I sorta dragged you off without explanation."
Adrien took the bandana his heart swelling and he checked the inside to find a cursive M along the one seam. "I would be honored to wear it Marinette. Your outfit is amazing. Do you have one for guys too?"
Marinette nodded, "I do! The outfit technically isn't finished it since I still need to find boots. But the shirt, jacket, and pants are done. I'll show you if you'd like!"
"I would love to! Your outfit is amazing, I'm sure the boy's is just as fantastic!" Adrien cried, excited and curious to see if they would be close to his size.
"Eat first, then go see," Sabine broke in, setting a second plate down for Marinette.
"O-of course! Thanks, Mama!" Marinette managed, smoothing her skirt down as she sat in the seat next to him.
They ate swiftly and Adrien was in heaven over the delicious lunch Sabine had prepared. With a promise of cookies before they left, Adrien followed Marinette up her stairs into her pink room. It took her a few seconds but Marinette pulled out the outfit and sketches she had done for the project. A green shirt, the same color as her skirt, had black piping with a golden design mimicking a bell on the front at the V of the collar. Black capris with green piping and bubbles ran up the legs in a whimsical design along with a single paw print on one of the back pockets. There was a black over-shirt that had green piping and a large green paw print on the back and smaller bubble designs running up the sleeves. A green braided tail topped with gold acted as a belt for the whole ensemble.
"This is amazing, Marinette!" Adrien cried, running his fingers down the soft fabric. He wished she had done a ladybug outfit like this, but the Chat Noir one was incredible and he badly wanted to try it on.
"Y-you think so?" Marinette asked shyly, looking incredibly nervous.
"I would totally wear this, Marinette. Could I wear it? Once the project is over, that is?" Adrien wondered lifting the pants and noting that they probably would fit him just right. There was no answer, and he lowered the pants to see Marinette gazing at him with a slightly dumbstruck look. "You can say no!" Adrien panicked wondering if he had made her upset.
"No! I mean, Yes! Wearing the yes! Dress! I mean, shoot!" Marinette stopped mid-sentence, her cheeks bright pink, and took a nice, deep breath. "I would be honored if you wore my outfit. I actually needed someone to try them on, since it is part of the project to get pictures with people modeling the clothes we make."
"Oh, ok cool!" Adrien hummed gathering the clothes. "Can I use your bathroom? I can try them on now and we can get some pictures together! I'm sure the photographer my father uses wouldn't mind helping us out, and I know exactly where to find him!"
Marinette squeaked but nodded, pointing a finger towards the bathroom down her stairs since she clearly didn't trust herself to speak. It took him five minutes to change and Marinette was waiting for him nervously on the edge of the couch when he came strutting out. The clothes fit him perfectly, almost as if they had been tailored to him and he had even put on the cat-eared bandana.
"These clothes are amazingly comfortable, Marinette! I can't believe you made these already!" Adrien complemented, truly thrilled at how the ensemble felt.
Plagg had sniggered at him in the bathroom and warned him against acting too in-character, but Adrien had brushed him off wanting to get back to Marinette's side. Marinette simply gaped at him. Wondering if he had somehow broken her, Adrien waved a hand before her eyes.
"Uh… Marinette? Everything ok?"
Marinette gulped and nodded, "F-fine."
Adrien merely grinned and offered her a hand, "Then, shall we? I think we ought to get back to school and then we can go see the photographer. I texted him in the bathroom and he seemed really excited about taking the pictures."
"O-ok!" Marinette managed, taking Adrien's hand since it was the polite thing to do, even though she felt as if she were about to combust.
Adrien was wearing HER designs. They were about to return to school and he was happily wearing clothes SHE had made, and then after school they were going to go get pictures taken TOGETHER! Marinette was on cloud nine and she remained on that cloud as they returned to school together. All sorts of questions were thrown their way the moment they stepped on campus and Marinette was shocked by the number of people who not only wanted the eared-bandanas, but wanted the outfits she had made as well. Chloe seemed miffed about Adrien wearing Marinette's designs, but she gave a sort of backhand complement at how the green looked fine on them even if she would never wear the design herself. That had shocked everyone, causing her to turn bright red and proclaim, "I'm trying alright?!" although no one was exactly sure what she was trying for or why.
The rest of school passed quickly and Marinette returned with Adrien to her house to drop off their school stuff before Adrien took her to go see the photographer. The man was odd but he was over the moon at Marinette's adorable designs and he took plenty of pictures free of charge as a favor for Adrien. The whole process took a few hours and it was near sunset as the two of them made their way back to Marinette's home. Marinette had loosened up considerably with Adrien during the shoot and he was finding her to be thrilling, energetic, and overall a joy to be with. The two of them were enthusiastically talking about the next Mecha Strike game when a voice broke into their conversation.
"Hey! How do you two have our badges?!"
The two teens froze on the sidewalk and turned to face Lily and the rest of the kitten fan club.
"Hello little kittens! Where are you off to this late?" Adrien asked the warmth in his voice surprising Marinette and making Lily frown at him.
"We were playing in the park and we picked up some trash. Why do you guys have our Badges?" Lily replied as the other children shuffled behind her shyly.
"Oh, the bandanas…" Marinette breathed, her hand touching the fabric on her head.
"Marinette here is the one who made your badges," Adrien answered, grinning at the children who tentatively grinned back.
Marinette's head whipped towards him, "How?!"
For a second Adrien froze realizing he had just goofed since he shouldn't know she had made the bandanas for the kids. Unintentionally, the children saved him since they all shot forwards, clamoring around Marinette the second his words sunk in. A dozen questions flew around Marinette from six mouths knocking any inquiries Marinette had for him right from her mind. Doing her best to answer all the questions the children had, Marinette managed to hold her own against the flood with some minor assistance from Adrien. Somehow, by the end of it all, Marinette had managed to become a sort of den mom for them and even promised to show all the kids how to sew the next time they had a club field trip. They were thrilled to have found an older 'true' fan of Chat Noir in Marinette, Adrien had to bite down on his lip to keep from laughing. Marinette was starting to look a touch overwhelmed although she seemed happy and Adrien decided a real rescue was in order.
"Alright, little kittens! Its starting to get late. Don't you guys have somewhere to be?" he called, snapping their attention back to him.
The children all pouted but sullen agreements floated from them at varying volumes. "We don't have far to go," Lily mumbled, looking suddenly put out.
"Do you want us to walk you to where you need to go?" Marinette asked and Adrien had the strangest desire to wrap Marinette up in a hug.
The children went from sullen to cheerfully thrilled in an instant and the smallest child piped up with the question of, "Can I ride on your shoulders?!" as thy tugged on Adrien's shirt tails.
Adrien instantly complied and the other five children arranged themselves peacefully around the two teens. Lily took up a center position between Adrien and Marinette taking one of their hands in each of her own, two of the smaller kids took the teens' empty hands, and the last two kids took hold of the teens' belt tails making them both laugh.
"Are we ready, little Kitten Club?" Marinette called and got enthusiastic shouts from everyone, including Adrien. "Alright! Then, on to our next adventure!"
Any adult who saw them couldn't help but grin, and there were plenty of pictures taken to the point that by the next day all of Paris knew of the Kitten Club and it seemed as if at least a quarter of Paris wanted Marinette to design Chat Noir clothes for them. Marinette was thrilled by the amount of commissions, even if she knew she would never be able to fulfill all of them, and she wasn't the least bit surprised by the appearance of Chat Noir on her balcony that evening as she sketched some new Chat Noir-based hoodie designs.
"I see that your purrfect designs are a hit," Chat purred, making Marinette smile.
"Your Kitten Club is adorable, and somehow I managed to get elected as Cat Mom…"
Chat chuckled, "So I heard. You know… a female cat is called a Molly or a Queen. Purrhaps my clawsome Princess is due for an upgraded nickname."
"If you start calling me Molly, I'll start calling you Tom," Marinette hissed making Chat laugh.
"Queen it is! That'll be your title, at least for my favorite little Kittens. I really do love the smallest of my fans the best, but don't worry. You will always be my Princess."
He swept up a hand and pressed a kiss to her knuckles before she could protest, and laughed again as Marinette sputtered incoherently. Before she could recover her ability to speak, he leaped away whispering to the night
"And you will always be my favorite fan."
