Chapter 55: Not Long Now
Santana's POV
Friday 28th April 2023
Brittany is going to kill me tonight. I'm home on time tonight which she'll be glad about but she won't be glad about the video conference call I need to have later tonight with Alexandra's husband's lawyer. They insisted it had to be later tonight because of the time difference so here I am on a Friday night about to talk to some arrogant pig instead of having a quiet night in with my wife and children. As soon as I walk into the house, Aiden and Ella come running through to me and hug me.
"Hi" I say while hugging them back tightly. "Did you miss me?" I ask them.
"No" Aiden replies giggling.
"I did" Ella tells me.
"I'm glad someone missed me then" I tell them. "Why didn't you miss me Aid?" I ask my son.
"Mommy told me to say I didn't" Aiden laughs.
"Oh, she did, did she?" I ask.
"She wanted to tease you" Aiden replies.
"Well maybe I'll tease her back and say I didn't miss her today when I was at work" I tell Aiden and Ella. "Where is mommy anyway?" I ask.
"In the kitchen" Aiden says.
"Shall we go and find her then?" I say and they both nod their heads. "Let's go then" I say while lifting Ella up and carrying her to the kitchen while Aiden runs behind me.
"I wondered why my children abandoned me a second ago but it must have been to go to you" Brittany says as we walk into the kitchen.
"Well our children were telling me that you told them to say they didn't miss me today so I'm just going to point out I only missed Aiden and Ella, not you" I tell Brittany.
"You clearly didn't miss your other two kids then since I'm the one carrying them" she says smirking at me. Shit, that backfired a little there.
"Ok so I did miss you and all of our kids" I say smiling at her.
"Glad to hear it and we all missed you too so don't worry" Brittany replies.
"Good" I smile. "So how was work?" I ask.
"It was ok but I'm glad it's Friday and we finally get some family time together again" Brittany points out.
"I agree although I do have a slight issue tonight" I say regrettably. I wish I didn't have to talk to this other lawyer but I have to.
"What's wrong?" Brittany asks, looking over at me as I play with Aiden and Ella at the table.
"I need to have a video conference call with a client's exes' lawyer tonight and apparently because of the time difference between me and them then I need to suffer rather than them" I state.
"It sucks but it's work so you gotta do what you gotta do" Brittany shrugs.
"I'm hoping to be done quickly though so ideally we can have some time together" I say.
"I hope so too" she smiles at me. "Anyway, I've just made a start on dinner so if you need to go and change or anything you can because I have this all under control" she tells me.
"I'll just change later, I want to spend some time with you all right now" I say.
"Ok" Brittany smiles at me.
I keep the kids occupied for a while as Brittany makes dinner and then we all sit down together and eat. I manage to spend some more time with Aiden and Ella once we've eaten and then Brittany and I go through their usual bedtime routine with bathing them and reading to them before they go to bed. Brittany is now lounging in the living room and I'm getting everything set up in the dining room to have the video call.
I'm actually lucky enough to not be speaking to him long because there didn't seem to be much to discuss. Both of our clients want the same thing so we were only sorting through things for about 20 minutes. I'm just hoping now though that both clients are happy with the way things are going and I can finally be finished with the case.
"I heard you end the call so are you all done now?" Brittany asks as she walks into the room.
"Yeah" I nod.
"Good" Brittany smiles. "So, are you going to come and spend some time with me now?" she asks as she wraps her arms around me from behind the chair I'm sitting on.
"Definitely, just let me get changed first" I say while standing up and removing my glasses from my face.
"Keep them on, you're sexy with them on" Brittany tells me while taking the glasses from my hands and gently placing them on my face again.
"Ok" I smile. "I won't be long" I say before running upstairs to get changed. I then come straight back down and join Brittany in the living room.
"So, I thought we could watch a movie together and just relax" Brittany suggests as I sit down next to her on the couch.
"Sounds good to me" I smile as I wrap my arms around her. We then get a movie started and relax together. I'm just concentrating on the movie when I feel Brittany place her hand on my leg and give it a gentle squeeze.
"I want you" Brittany tells me quietly.
"You can have me" I say while kissing the top of her head.
"Aren't you tired?" she asks, turning around to look at me.
"I'm never too tired to be with you" I point out.
"Ok" she smiles back at me.
"Now come here" I smile while gently turning her head towards me a bit more before leaning in to kiss her.

Friday 26th May 2023
I need to go away today with my mom, dad and siblings for a family funeral so it means Brittany is going to be left at home alone with the kids. My dad's mom's sister recently passed away after a long battle with cancer and we're all going to show our respects. I don't have any grandparents living anymore and even though my dad's aunt had her own family and we didn't see her a lot, she was still family so we wanted to attend the funeral. We didn't see the point in our partners coming though because they've only met my great aunt once or twice at weddings or other funerals so it would have been too much hassle for everyone to go because all the kids would need to come too.
My family and I are currently on the airplane now heading to where the funeral is being held. We're staying in a hotel for a couple of nights with the service taking place tomorrow and then we fly back home again on Sunday. I'm really hoping the flight goes as smoothly as it can because I don't want any delays because I want to phone Brittany when we land and make sure she's ok and be able to say goodnight to the kids.
"Eva move your arm, that's my armrest" I state as we all try to get comfortable as the plane takes off.
"No, your armrest is at the other side, this one is mine" Eva tells me.
"No, your armrest is at the other side and this one here is mine" I assure her.
"You can't have two of them Santana" my sister replies.
"Stop annoying me and just move over please to your own side" I sigh.
"You're the one who is being annoying" Eva states.
"Girls, really?" my mom questions unamused. "You're both too old to be carrying on like this" she adds.
"She started it" I point out.
"No, you started it Santana" Eva responds.
"The two of you are acting like children" my mom says while shaking her head. She was unfortunate enough to be put next to the two of us while my dad is sitting with my two brothers.
"I'm not doing anything wrong mom, this is all Santana's issue" Eva says.
"Mommy I'm a good girl and I don't ever do anything wrong, it's always Santana's fault" I say mimicking my sister's voice.
"Santana please stop being childish. You're a grown woman in her thirties with kids of her own so just behave please" my mom tells me.
"Why am I always the one in the wrong?" I groan.
"Because you're acting like a child. Eva was just quietly sitting in her seat when you had to accuse her of stealing your armrest" my mom states.
"I really don't know how Brittany puts up with you when you're like this. Do you accuse her of using the wrong armrest?" Eva asks.
"I'm not like this with Brittany because I love Brittany and she never annoys me whereas you know just fine how to push my buttons. Ever since I was a child, you've been annoying me. Eddie and I were just fine until you and Jason came along and ruined the whole dynamic. Honestly mom this is all your fault actually for not using appropriate birth control after you had Eddie" I say.
"Santana don't be so rude to your mother and siblings" my dad says while leaning over in his seat to talk to me.
"I'm just saying I was doing great as an only child and then when Eddie came along, it wasn't ideal but I got on with it but when Eva came followed by Jason, shit really started to go down" I tell my parents.
"You do realise you're about to have the same number of children yourself soon so for your sake I really hope you didn't feel like that otherwise Aiden is going to hate all of his siblings" Jason points out.
"Aiden loves Ella and he's so excited for the two new babies so he definitely feels better than I did" I reply.
"What is your point here Santana?" my mom asks confused. "Do you just not like your siblings or were your dad and I not good enough parents?"
"My point is that my siblings seem to think everything that happens is down to me when we all know that's not the case. I took the fall for you three brats when we were younger but not anymore" I tell them.
"Has this discussion seriously stemmed from a damn armrest?" my dad asks.
"It has but the point is that Eva took my armrest therefore she is in the wrong but none of you will admit that goody two shoes Eva has done something wrong" I state.
"Eva use the armrest at the other side please" my dad says so Eva reluctantly moves her arm. "Are you ok now?" he asks me.
"Perfect, thank you dad" I smile. Ok so I did take things a little too far but it's all worked out now so I can't complain. If Brittany was here she probably wouldn't be thrilled at me just now but I suppose I'm only acting like a child because I'm frustrated about being away from Britt.
As soon as we land, we head to the hotel and get settled in before I called Brittany. I spoke to the kids briefly but I'm going to call again later to say goodnight to them. My parents, siblings and me are currently at a restaurant having some dinner.
"Do you think Brittany and the kids will be doing ok?" I ask my mom in concern.
"I think Brittany has probably walked out and left then to fend for themselves" Jason says with a shrug.
"Fuck off" I say while glaring at my brother.
"You asked a question Santana and I answered, what is wrong with that?" Jason says while shrugging again.
"Jason that is enough with winding up your sister" my mom says seriously to my brother. "And Santana, yes the kids and Brittany will be just fine. She has her parents there if she needs them so don't worry" she assures me.
"She's never been left that long with the kids on her own plus she is pregnant at the moment so she's probably going to be exhausted running around behind them" I say.
"Honestly, she'll be fine" my mom smiles. "It's not easy for any parent to look after the kids all at once but she'll manage just like you did" she adds.
"That's the thing, I didn't manage the last time Brittany was away" I state. I was a total mess and neither of the kids would do as they were told.
"There is no perfect way to be a parent Santana so you and Brittany are both great parents so you can both manage on your own when you need to. I mean if I'm being totally honest, Aiden and Ella are a lot easier for you than any of you were for me" my mom says with a smirk.
"I was a model child mom, you've said so yourself before" I reply.
"Do you want me to tell the story again about your naked phase and how you used to run around outside all the time?" my mom asks.
"No that is certainly not necessary" I say embarrassed. My three siblings seem to find it very amusing right now which pisses me off even more.
"I don't know why you three are laughing because you were just as bad" my dad says to my sister and brothers. "Eddie once got stuck in the dryer because he wanted to see what it was like inside and you Jason once got stuck up a tree trying to get your soccer ball. Then you Eva just wanted to do everything your big sister did so you would copy Santana all day long."
"Oh, that's so sweet, you wanted to be like me" I say to my sister to tease her.
"Relax, I grew out of it very quickly" Eva glares at me, obviously not taking too kindly to my teasing.
"Actually, you didn't" my mom points out to my sister. "Don't you remember that one time in your teens that you kissed your best friend because you wanted to see if you too were a lesbian."
"Oh my god, seriously" I say laughing.
"No mom is not serious" Eva sighs.
"Yes, honey I am" my mom assures my sister. "You have to remember that" she adds.
"I remember I kissed my friend once in high school during spin the bottle but I certainly didn't do it to be like Santana" Eva replies. "Now can we just move on from me because I certainly don't want to be like Santana anymore."
"Good because if you did and came near Brittany then we'd have a situation on our hands" I state.
"I think you only have four words in your vocabulary Santana" Jason says to me while laughing. "Brittany, Aiden, Ella and babies" he adds.
"That is all she seems to be talking about" Eddie says in agreement. "Oh, and herself of course, we can't forget the many times she talks about herself."
"It's not a crime to be quite fond of my wife and children and want to talk about them" I say with a shrug.
"It's not but there are other things to talk about to take a break from them" Eva points out.
After we all finish dinner together, we went back to my parent's hotel room for a little bit. We just wanted to go over all the arrangements for tomorrow and make sure we know where we're going. There's nothing worse than arriving late to a funeral and causing a scene. I'm now back in my own room that I'm sharing with my sister. We're only here for a few nights so it was cheaper for us to just share than to all have separate rooms and my brothers are sharing a room together too.
"I'm going to call Brittany and the kids now" I whisper to Eva while heading to the bathroom. She's currently on the phone with Scott and Olivia right now so I didn't want to interrupt their conversation, hence the reason I'm going to the bathroom to make my call.
"Ok" she whispers back with a smile before I close the door of the bathroom behind me. I quickly get my phone out and facetime Brittany.
"Hi baby, give me one second" Brittany smiles. I nod and smile back. I hear her rustling around for a moment before suddenly she appears again on the bed with the kids either side of her.
"Hi everyone" I say while waving through the phone.
"Coming home?" Ella asks me.
"Not tonight sweetheart but I promise it won't be long before I'm home" I tell her.
"Ok" Ella nods.
"Ate all my dinner mom" Aiden tells me delightedly.
"Well done, I'm proud of you" I smile at Aiden. "So, are you two being good for mommy?" I ask Aiden and Ella.
"Very good" Aiden smiles at me.
"That's good then" I smile back at Aiden.
"They've been really good. They took their naps in the afternoon and like Aiden said, they ate all of their dinner and even helped me clear up the dishes" Brittany tells me.
"That's excellent guys" I say to Aiden and Ella. "Maybe if you keep up the good work then mom will bring you back a present" I add.
"Yeah!" Aiden screams excitedly.
"You need to continue to be good for mommy though, ok?" I tell him.
"We will. We go to bed soon and behave for mommy" Aiden assures.
"You'll get a present then" I smile at my son.
"While you're feeling in generous mood giving out presents then does mommy get a present too?" Brittany asks me.
"Get mommy present too" Ella tells me.
"Of course, I'll get a present for mommy" I smile at her.
"Wait a second, is that a toilet behind you?" Brittany asks, frowning in confusion.
"Yeah, I'm in the bathroom. Eva was on the phone so I didn't want to interrupt and talk in the same room as her" I reply.
"I think this might be the first time you've called me from the bathroom so let's maybe make it the last too" Brittany tells me.
"Relax baby, it's not like I'm using the toilet" I laugh.
"Ok well let's just keep it that way" she laughs.
Brittany's POV
Saturday 27th May 2023
It's a little strange to not have Santana here for a couple of days but I'm confident I'll cope on my own. Santana has done it before so there's no reason as to why I can't do it too. I don't expect it to be really easy but I'm sure I'll survive. Last night was no problem at all and the kids got to say goodnight to Santana on facetime so they weren't upset or anything that she wasn't here. This morning was a little tricky trying to get them both to eat breakfast because they wanted different things but I managed so I'm happy with that.
"So, what are we doing to welcome mom home?" I ask the kids as we sit together in the kitchen.
"I'm making a card mommy" Aiden tells me.
"Oh, that's nice" I smile at him.
"Want to make cakes" Ella says looking at me.
"We could make some cakes for mom tomorrow before she gets home" I say. "Firstly though, we're going to go out with Aunt Emma and your cousin Brooke."
"Swings mommy?" Ella asks me.
"We're going to get some lunch together and then maybe we'll go to the swings" I tell her.
After the kids and I spend some time together, I get them ready for the day. I then quickly get myself ready and we head out to meet my sister. Aiden loves Santana's car so much that he insisted I drive us in her car rather than my own. It'll probably all change soon though when I get my new car because it'll be all new and exciting to Aiden compared to Santana's car. I wanted to get something a little bigger that would be able to have us all in the one car once the twins come along so I'll be getting that soon. Santana insisted on buying it for me which was really sweet. I mean I could buy it myself but it makes Santana feel better that she's being able to do something to contribute to the babies coming along. I know she gets down sometimes when I've had a particularly hard day with my pregnancy and she can't do anything to help so she feels buying the car is her way of helping so I'm letting her do it for me. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not taking her for granted because I will pay her back. I just know she won't except cash from me so I'm going to pay her back without her even knowing I'm doing it. I'm not 100% sure of how to do that yet but I'll work it out.
The kids and I are all currently at lunch with Emma and my niece Brooke. Artie wasn't working today so I was surprised Emma wanted to hang out with me but then it dawned on me that she probably just wanted to make sure I was doing ok on my own for a few days.
"I like that we're hanging out but we didn't need to do it today because you could have had some time with Artie" I say to my sister.
"I know but I wanted us to hang out" Emma smiles.
"Ok" I smile back.
"So, it won't be too long until the babies come, are you excited?" my sister asks me.
"I'm super excited and so is Santana" I smile. "We're still a little nervous though because it's going to be quite stressful I think having 4 kids to look after at the one time when they're all so young" I point out.
"Mom and dad managed it though so I'm sure you'll cope just fine too" Emma assures me. "So, do you have any idea what you might like to call the babies?" she asks.
"We're still thinking at the moment. I mean Santana came up with some new ones but we're also thinking about the names we didn't use when we had Aiden and Ella. We're also not sure what to do about middle names. We had thought of naming the girl baby after one of our moms and the boy baby after one of our dads but we don't know which to pick" I reply.
"Maybe once you see the babies, you'll know what to do" Emma replies.
"Yeah maybe" I nod. "So anyway, enough about me. How are you and Artie doing with the new house and having a daughter now?" I ask curiously.
"It's all going really well actually" she smiles. "It's weird though because if you had asked me over a year ago where I would be in life then I don't think I would have said this" she points out.
"You're happy though with how everything has ended up though, right?" I ask.
"Yeah of course" Emma smiles. "I think Artie is getting a little bit like Santana though because he keeps wanting to take Brooke to work and show her off all the time" she laughs.
"Santana does like to do that" I say while laughing. I find it actually really cute when she does that.
"Speaking of Santana, if you need any help with her being away then just let me know and I'll help you" Emma says honestly.
"I'm doing ok but thank you" I smile. I appreciate it but I think I'm going to be ok because it's really not long until Santana gets back and I should be able to do it on my own because I can't be dependent on Santana all the time.
"I know Aiden and Ella were giving Santana a hard time the last time you were away so honestly if you need some help then let me know" she tells me.
"I will but I want to try this all on my own" I say.

I'm just lying quietly in bed while reading a book when I hear my phone buzzing at the side on the table. I quickly leap on it and answer it right away so it's not ringing for long since the kids are asleep. I don't even register who is calling until I've answered.
"Hello" I whisper.
"Hey Britt" Santana replies. "Why are you whispering?" she asks me confused.
"Because our children are lying sleeping next to me" I say.
"Are they sleeping in the same room tonight?" Santana asks curiously.
"The plan was to put them to their own beds ages ago but we're all in our bed right now. We were just hanging out together and before I knew it, they both had fallen asleep so I didn't want to move them" I say.
"Oh, that's cute" Santana replies. "I wish I was cuddled up in bed with you all right now" she adds.
"I wish that too" I tell her. "So, did today go ok?" I ask.
"Yeah it was a lovely service and I got to catch up with some family I haven't seen in a long time" Santana tells me.
"That was good" I reply.
"I'm looking forward to getting home tomorrow though" she admits. "Are you still ok for getting me at the airport around noon?" she asks. Her parents are staying a few days extra as a little mini vacation for them so since they drove everyone to the airport on the way there then everyone needs picked up since Maribel and Mario aren't coming home just yet.
"Emma and Artie along with Brooke are coming over for lunch tomorrow so they're looking after Aiden and Ella so I can give you and your siblings a ride home" I say.
"I mean I was more just worried about me, I wasn't too bothered whether you could give my siblings a ride" Santana states.
"I'm sure they would love to hear that" I say laughing. I immediately regret it though because Aiden begins wakening up slightly since I was too loud.
"Mommy?" Aiden says while rubbing his eyes.
"I'm sorry sweetheart, I was laughing because mom said…"
"Hello, mom?" Aiden questions as he rudely interrupts me and grabs the phone from me. One mention of Santana and that's conversation over.
"Hi buddy, what are you doing awake" I hear Santana say through the phone.
"Mommy woke me up" Aiden states while turning his head to give me his best Santana glare.
"I'm sure she didn't mean it" Santana assures him.
"She did" Aiden states.
"Aiden, no I didn't" I tell him but he just shrugs at me. "Now can mommy speak to mom again please?" I ask.
"Need to go mom, bye" Aiden sighs before dropping the phone on the bed and turning away from me.
"Hello?" I say. I'm not sure if Aiden hung up the phone like he usually does or if Santana is still there.
"I'm still here babe" Santana says amusingly.
"I can tell by the sound of your voice that you're practically glowing right now" I chuckle.
"I am because Aiden did the exact same thing to me the last time you were away. Everything was my fault and you were the one he wanted and now it's the opposite" she says.
"Did he give you the Santana glare as well when you were with them alone?" I ask curiously.
"The Santana glare?" Santana asks laughing.
"Come on babe, you know you have a vicious glare when you need to and Aiden can imitate it down to a tee" I say.
"He did glare at times so I guess so" she replies. "I would say I have a cute glare though, not a vicious one" she adds.
"Ok, whatever you say" I laugh.

Sunday 18th June 2023
Even though I'm only 28 weeks pregnant, I am quite heavily pregnant at the moment since it's twins so our wedding anniversary is going to be quite tricky today. I do really want to celebrate as does Santana but I don't know what we're going to do considering how pregnant I am. I'm currently just sitting in bed, going through my phone looking at a few messages I got from family and friends wishing me a happy anniversary.
"Let's go in quietly in case mommy is asleep" I hear Santana say as there is some noise at the other end of the door.
"Ok" Aiden and Ella reply in unison before all three of them walk into the room carrying breakfast.
"Oh wow, look at this" I say while sitting up slightly as they all join me in bed.
"Happy anniversary babe" Santana smiles before leaning in to kiss me.
"Right back at you babe" I smile. "This food looks great, thank you for making it guys" I say as we all get comfortable and begin eating.
"My idea mommy" Aiden tells me.
"Well thank you" I say while kissing my son's head.
"I make these mommy" Ella tells me as she holds up a pancake.
"That's right, Ella made the batter for the pancakes" Santana smiles at our daughter.
"Well done sweetheart, they taste great" I say while kissing Ella's head.
"One second" Aiden states while holding up a finger in the air before jumping down from the bed and running out of the room.
"Where are you going buddy" I hear Santana shout after him.
"One second" Aiden screams back, clearly annoyed that Santana wasn't listening. It's not like she wasn't listening, I think she's just concerned he left the room.
"That's you told" I say to Santana amused.
"Yeah" Santana laughs. "I don't know what he's doing though" she adds. We wait another few minutes and just as Santana is about to go and see what's going on, Aiden trots into the room with a giftbag in his hands. He then clambers onto the bed with it and sits in between Santana and I, with Ella still sitting on Santana's knee.
"For you mommy" Aiden says while handing me a giftbag. I read the label on the bag and it's for Santana and I from Aiden and Ella.
"Thank you, sweetheart," I say while kissing Aiden before kissing Ella. "Babe you didn't need to do that" I tell Santana. Even though it's for her too I'm assuming she helped the kids get it so that they could get me something.
"I didn't actually" Santana replies confused. Ok I'm confused as well now. We have no idea how Aiden got us a present if neither of us bought it with him.
"Did someone help you with this buddy?" I ask him as I begin opening the present.
"Auntie Emma and Uncle Artie" Aiden shrugs.
"Oh, they helped you get this for us?" Santana asks.
"They drove me, I picked it and bought it" Aiden states. Santana and I then finish opening the present and it turns out it's two engraved mugs with our names on them and a little note from the kids. It's really sweet because Santana and I drink coffee a lot so these will definitely come in handy.
"Thank you so much" Santana says before kissing the kids. I then do the same.
"So, you two bought these with your own money then?" I ask them. It seems quite expensive so I wouldn't want them to use all their money on it.
"Yes mommy, we bought them" Aiden smiles at me. "Uncle Artie gave me the money so I gave it to the lady" he shrugs.
"Ok" I smile back.
"Technically they didn't actually buy it then and it was…"
"I bought it Santana" Aiden glowers at Santana.
"Ok, that's enough" I say seriously. "You're getting too cheeky with mom and you know you call her mom not Santana."
"I bought it" Aiden states.
"I know you did and thank you buddy" I smile.
"Yes, thank you" Santana says while kissing his cheek to calm him down.
"Ok" Aiden giggles at Santana as the kisses start to tickle him.
"And thank you to you too sweetheart" I say while taking Ella from Santana and giving her a hug and kiss. Santana then leans over and kisses Ella.

After spending the morning with the kids, Santana's sister took them out for a while. Eva and my brother were taking Olivia to a kids museum that just opened up and thought Aiden and Ella might like to go too which they really did. Not only do the kids get to have fun now but Santana and I get to have a little time together on our anniversary. We're just getting ready just now to go to lunch together.
"Do I look like a beach whale or an extra-large beach whale?" I ask Santana as I pull at my dress to make it look better on my rapidly growing stomach.
"I think you look sexy" Santana smiles.
"You would say that" I smile back.
"No seriously though, you look beautiful babe" she says while making her way over to me. "So beautiful" she adds while leaning in to kiss me. It really takes all of the strength I have to pull away because I don't want us getting into something we can't finish right now.
"We should get to lunch" I smile as I pull away.
"Will we continue this later?" she asks.
"Definitely" I wink. We then finish getting ready before Santana drives us to the restaurant. We're seated at a table in a quiet corner with a view of the lake out of the window. It actually seems kinda romantic which is lovely.
"I know we said no presents but I have something for you" Santana tells me.
"I actually have something for you too" I admit. We did agree on keeping the money so we can spend it on the kids especially with two more on the way but I think secretly we both knew we wouldn't stick to it. The only benefit from saying no gifts is that we probably didn't spend as much as we would have initially so we kinda have saved money.
"So, this is for you" Santana says while handing me a small wrapped gift from her purse. I quickly open it and it's two small charms. Each of a different letter. "It's to go on the bracelet you already have with all of our initials so ideally we stick to the names we agreed on for the new babies then these can go on the bracelet."
"Thank you" I smile. "Ok, this here is your gift" I say while handing Santana a small gift. She quickly opens it and finds a small framed picture of myself wearing a brunette wig.
"Wow, sexy" she smirks at me.
"Thank you" I smile. "As you can tell by my swollen face, I took it last week so it shows I'm pregnant even though you can't see my stomach" I add.
"No, it's really sexy babe, you look hot" she smiles at me.
"I give you pictures of the children all the time so I thought this might be something different and you can keep it wherever you want since it's small" I tell her.
"I love it and I think I'm going to keep it on my desk at work" she tells me. "I would like to see you look like this in the flesh though. Do you think you could model the hair tonight?" she asks.
"I think I could come to some arrangement, yes" I smirk. "The wig is probably all I'm going to wear though so I hope you're ok without my clothes."
"I'm more than ok with that" she says before leaning over the table to kiss me.
"This is shaping up to be a pretty good anniversary isn't it" I smile.
"It really is" Santana smiles back while sitting back down and reaching across the table to hold my hand.
Santana's POV
Brittany is having another scan today to see how the babies are doing. We don't usually get one at this stage but because it's a multiple birth and how sick Brittany felt in the beginning then we wanted to have another scan closer to the due date. She has actually stopped working as well now and took maternity leave a little earlier than she did with her last two pregnancies. That wasn't the initial plan but since it's like a double pregnancy then things are more progressed at this stage than during this time in her last pregnancies. She was a bit worried to be leaving work this early on because she thought she might get bored and frustrated being at home all the time but to be honest with you, I'm just happy she's taking some time to rest and she isn't getting stressed out at work.
"So how are my little babies?" I ask the doctor as she begins the scan.
"They look fine but I do want to mention something to you both" the doctor replies.
"Oh god, what's wrong?" Brittany asks in concern.
"Ok Brittany, there is nothing to worry about but the babies aren't positioned as well as one would hope at this stage" the doctor says.
"But they'll move eventually before I give birth, right?" Brittany asks, getting a little panicked.
"They're actually lying the wrong way and I really don't see any way they can move now" the doctor replies.
"Our babies are going to be ok, you're going to fix this aren't you" I say. I'm also getting a little panicked now. Brittany tightens her grip on my hand. I know when a baby is in transverse lie then the doctor can intervene nearer the birth and try to turn the baby.
"It's not necessarily anything we need to fix because I'm hoping they'll continue to develop correctly the way they are and you'll just need to have a caesarean section Brittany" the doctor tells her.
"Aren't they in danger or anything if they're not in the correct position?" I ask worriedly.
"No, they're doing fine but I will continue to monitor things but like I say, you're probably going to need a caesarean" the doctor replies. "Because there are two of them then it's not really possible to turn the babies like we sometimes do in these cases."
"Is this my fault?" Brittany asks.
"Of course not" the doctor shakes her head. "It's no one's fault, it's just because there are two babies then they're both finding a comfortable way to both be in there."
"Ok" Brittany nods.
"Can I be in the room with her when she has the babies?" I ask. I'd quite like to be there but I don't know if it's allowed or not.
"You can but you will have to have appropriate attire on to be in there and you will have to go through the same procedures we go through before entering the operating room" the doctor replies.
"I'll do whatever it takes to be in there with Brittany. I don't want her alone" I say. The thought of her being in there herself chills me so I'll be with her every step of the way.
"Babies ok mommy?" Aiden asks as he climbs up onto the table next to her.
"They're doing great" Brittany smiles.
"They coming today?" Ella asks confused.
"Not today sweetheart but it won't be too long" I tell my daughter. She just smiles at me and nods.
After we finish with the scan, we do a little shopping in the grocery store before Brittany treats the kids to a new toy. They don't get new toys all the time but honestly, they've been so great about everything with the babies. They come to all the appointments with us and they seem really happy about getting a new brother and sister. We were worried they might feel a little left out or get a bit frustrated when Brittany couldn't play with them much anymore but they've been so good.
Brittany and I are currently making dinner now. Well I say we're both doing it but it's more so me while Brittany fiddles about with her iPad at the table in the kitchen. The kids had a little nap in the afternoon but now they're playing with their new toys at the table, sitting quietly next to Brittany. Aiden got a new car and Ella got a doll that she's sweetly named Brittany.
"How are you feeling?" I ask Brittany. I'm a little concerned she's getting worried about what the doctor said so I want to make sure she's ok.
"I'm ok actually" Brittany smiles. "I was looking it up online and it's common for babies to do this and the doctor seems confident with everything."
"Everything is going to be ok because lots of women have c-sections all the time. Plus, this way you won't actually go into labour so all the contractions and things won't occur" I smile. The doctor is going to schedule her in for the caesarean as close to the due date as safely possible so we won't be waiting for Brittany to go into labour. With it being a double birth anyway then we were expecting the babies to be here a little sooner than when Aiden and Ella came along.
"That's true" Brittany smiles.
"Mommy, look" Ella says while holding up her doll. "Practicing for new babies" she says as she holds the blanket around the doll to keep it warm.
"Well done sweetheart" Brittany smiles at Ella. "Why don't you and I practice putting diapers on the doll in preparation for the babies coming" she suggests.
"Ok" Ella nods.
"I get you some toilet paper" Aiden states while running to the bathroom and bringing back a roll of toilet paper for Brittany and Ella to make diapers with.
"Wait, I get you another doll" Ella says while running to the other room to get her other doll so Brittany and her can practice together.
"Thank you, sweetheart" Brittany says while taking the other doll from Ella. They then begin to fashion diapers out of the toilet roll before practicing to put them on the dolls.
"Hey Britt, taste this" I say while walking over to her and holding the spoon up to her lips.
"Is it really warm?" she asks hesitating.
"No, not at all. It's came from a boiling pot on the stove so it's relatively cool" I tease.
"Ok smartass, calm down" Brittany laughs. "I'll blow it first" she says while gently blowing on the hot sauce before tasting it.
"That's not the first time you've said that to me" I smirk.
"Santana!" Brittany says shocked while laughing at the same time.
"Sorry, I couldn't help myself" I shrug.
Once I finish making dinner, we get the table cleared of all the toys and then sit down together to eat. We then spend time with Aiden and Ella as usual before bathing then and putting them to bed. Brittany is currently finishing up reading a book to the kids while I find something on Netflix for us to watch together.
"Hey" Brittany smiles while walking into the living room.
"Did they get to sleep ok?" I ask.
"Aiden went to sleep right away and Ella fell asleep not long after. She's in her own room sleeping now" Brittany replies. We usually read to them in the same room before gently carrying the other one to their room when they fall asleep.
"That's good" I smile.
"So, what are we watching?" Brittany asks as she gently sits down on the couch. She's really quite pregnant now so she's can't just sit down normally.
"I thought we could watch this movie?" I suggest while sitting down next to her and placing her legs over my lap so she can stretch out.
"No, I've seen that one" Brittany shakes her head.
"Brittany Lopez, you cheater" I gasp.
"I need to do something all day or I'm bored" Brittany shrugs. She does have a lot of time on her hands now that she's not working until after the babies come.
"I know baby but you're not supposed to watch certain movies without me" I tell her. "We agreed to watch this one together and now you've watched it without me so you've Netflix cheated on me."
"I'm sorry, the synopsis just looked good so I wanted to see the movie and couldn't wait" she shrugs.
"What about that new TV show we're watching, I've forgotten the name of it but you've not went ahead and watched it have you?" I ask.
"I love you" Brittany cutely smiles at me.
"Babe, how could you" I laugh. "What am I supposed to do now?" I ask.
"I don't know" Brittany shrugs. "Either catch up soon at some point or just skip ahead and watch with me where I'm at" she tells me.
"Can you please find something you haven't watched yet" I say while handing her the remote.
"Ok" she nods.
"Just let me know when you've found something. I'm going to talk to the babies in the meantime" I say. I then move a little so I can lean over and gently caress Brittany's stomach as I talk to the babies.
"Ok but is it a movie or another TV show you want to see?" Brittany asks.
"Either. I'll watch anything at all that you haven't seen" I say and she nods. "Hey guys" I say to the babies. "Mommy has been a little naughty lately because she Netflix cheated on me so I'm sorry if I don't sound so happy tonight."
"Santana, don't say that to them. You'll confuse them before they even leave my womb" Brittany says laughing. "You'll make them think mommy doesn't love their mom or something."
"I think they'll know I'm just messing. I mean they're 50% of me really so they'll understand my personality and probably have a similar one" I smile. Brittany and I do tend to equally tease each other so I'm sure our kids will be the same either way, no matter who they take after.
"Ok" Brittany smiles. After a few minutes, she finds something for us to watch together.
"Ok babies, I need to go right now but we'll talk again soon. Mommy and I have a movie to watch" I say while gently kissing Brittany's stomach. "Just wish me luck guys because the summary didn't seem appealing at all so it's probably going to be a crappy movie" I add before sitting up a bit more to get settled for the movie.
"Just because I'm pregnant at the moment so we're not getting to have sex a lot doesn't mean I still can't take it away" Brittany smirks.
"I'm sure this movie will be wonderful" I smile at Brittany.
"Oh, so the thought of no sex suddenly makes this movie seem better?" she asks amusingly.
"You Netflix cheated on me babe so don't take away sex as well because that's too much heartache for one night" I say.
"Come here" she smiles while pulling me closer to her so she can kiss me. It's not the easiest position to get into when you're separated with two babies but we manage. "If you make it through the movie, maybe I'll do something special when we go to bed."
"Ok" I smile. I then sit back down and hold her hand in mine as we begin the movie.
