Chapter 58: New Year
Santana's POV
It's a new year now which is exciting but also terrifying. It's exciting because I have four wonderful kids now that I get to watch grow up and develop into little people. Each day that passes they get bigger and smarter and form their own little personalities which is cute. On the other hand though, this new year means I'm another year older which is annoying. I turn 34 in less than a week which doesn't seem that old but when you're married to a 25 year old, it can seem annoying. Only the other day I started talking about a kids' programme from my childhood and Brittany just looked at me blankly because she had never even heard of it.
"Hey, what are you doing sitting in here on your own?" Brittany asks as she walks into the dark living room where I currently am. When I got up this morning, I took the twins downstairs and now they're in the study resting while Aiden and Ella are still in bed.
"Just thinking" I smile at her.
"About what?" she asks while sitting down next to me.
"Life I guess but mostly about how I don't want to be another year older" I admit.
"Age is only a number baby, it doesn't mean anything" she says before leaning over to kiss my cheek. "If it helps, I turn another year older next month" she smiles.
"I think I just get oversensitive about my age sometimes because people have been know to point out the 8 year age gap between the two of us" I say honestly.
"No one cares anymore Santana about that, well at least not the people we love" Brittany points out. "You shouldn't worry about what other people think because it just gets you down and life is too short for that. Just be happy when you're happy" she smiles again.
"Ok" I nod.
"Now I better go and see if Aiden and Ella are awake yet. I assume you got Mia and Josh up this morning" Brittany says while standing up from the couch.
"I did and they're resting just now" I reply.
"Ok well I'll go up and get Aiden and Ella and then we can all have breakfast together before we need to get ready for the day" she says.
After Brittany gets Aiden and Ella out of bed and I've got Mia and Josh, we all have breakfast together. We then hung out and played with the kids for a while. Brittany then went to the grocery store to get some things and I stayed at home with the kids. Brittany is now watching the children so I'm just doing some household chores.
"Hey" Brittany smiles as she walks into the room.
"Hey" I smile back.
"Do you need any help cleaning?" she asks as she walks over to me and wraps her arms around me.
"No, I think I'm going to call it a day now with the cleaning" I say. It's Sunday and Sundays are meant to be a day of rest so I think I'm going to call it quits with the chores and just relax for a while now before it's back to work as usual tomorrow.
"Ok" Brittany smiles.
"I might actually go and shower now since I have some time" I tell her while quickly kissing her and untangling myself from her arms.
"Can I come with you?" she asks with a smirk.
"As much as I would love that, like really love that, who is going to keep an eye on the children?" I ask. We can't leave them unattended to run around all afternoon.
"They're all napping right now so I've got a spare moment to accompany you to the bathroom and leer at you" she smiles.
"All 4 are napping?" I ask surprised. That never happens for me where all 4 children are napping at the one time. Usually they all end up napping at different times so I never get a minute to myself because at least one of them is awake and needing my attention.
"Yeah" Brittany nods. "I'm just as surprised as you but it's true" she adds.
"I guess you can join me then" I shrug.
"You don't need to seem too thrilled about it" she says sarcastically.
"No, I am" I laugh. "I would love for you to join me upstairs so let's go" I say while taking her hand and pulling her upstairs with me. I didn't mean to come off as so nonchalant about it.
"I would go one step further and actually join you in the shower but I think that's too much of a risk in case one of the kids wake up and need us" she replies as we walk into our room.
"Yeah it might be just a little bit too risky" I say as I grab what I need from my room before proceeding to the en suite with Brittany following me. I switch the water on before undressing and stepping into the shower as Brittany takes a seat across from the shower.
"I kind of lied 10 minutes ago" Brittany says breaking the silence around us.
"Wait, the kids aren't all napping right now?" I ask worriedly. I would hate to horrify them if they walked in here and more importantly, I hate the thought of them roaming around the house without one of us keeping an eye on them.
"No, they are" Brittany smiles. "I didn't mean about that. I meant I lied about wanting to come up here with you to leer at you."
"You don't want to stare at this?" I question confused as I point to my naked body.
"I did want to do that but I mean that's not the main reason that I wanted to join you in the bathroom. I wanted to come here with you because any time we're without the kids we're alone so I never get to talk to you" she replies. It is true though because as soon as the kids nap or go to day-care then I'm either at work or I need to use the opportunity to shower or catch up on chores. We always use that time away from the kids to catch up on day to day life so we don't actually get to be with each other.
"I understand babe" I say while switching the shower off for a second so Brittany has my full attention now that the conversation has turned serious.
"I know we have time at night but we're either too tired or taking care of one of the kids who can't sleep" she points out. "Like I did want to come here and stare at you because you are hot but I also just wanted a conversation with you."
"I know exactly what you mean because sex and everything is great but our relationship isn't built on just that so I like when we can just talk to one another" I say.
"Exactly" she smiles.
"So, what did you want to talk about babe?" I ask.
"It wasn't anything serious. I just wanted to talk to you for a change that wasn't about work or diapers" she replies. "Hey, what about your birthday?" she asks.
"What about my birthday" I groan. I really don't want to be another year older so the thought of it annoys me.
"We could talk about that and what you might like for your birthday" she replies.
"It's just another day, I don't want a big fuss or anything like that" I tell Brittany.
"I want to make it a big deal though because it's an important day. The 12th of January is when you were born so I need to celebrate that day because if it hadn't been for that day then you wouldn't have been born therefore you wouldn't be in my life right now" Brittany smiles at me.
"Ok but can we please not fixate on my age" I say.
"Of course, but I never said anything about how you were turning 21 on Friday" she smiles at me again.
"Ok" I smile back. I love that Brittany knows when I feel bad about something and tries to make me feel better. "I wish I was 21 though" I sigh.
"If you were 21 then I would be 13 which would be super illegal so let's just be glad we're not" she tells me.
"I suppose so" I laugh.
"Seriously though Santana, don't get hung up on your age because we all get older and age is just a number really so I wouldn't let it concern you. You can still do everything you did at 21 so I wouldn't worry right now" she reassures me.
Brittany's POV
Wednesday 10th January 2024
Aiden and Ella are at day-care at the moment and I've just arrived at my sister's house with Josh and Mia. Emma is looking after the twins today and then I'll pick them up when I head back to the day-care to get Aiden and Ella. Santana is working today and I've got the dentist in half an hour hence the reason the twins are staying with Emma for a little while. Ideally, I just wanted my sister to watch them while I went for my appointment but she said she would be more than happy to have them for the day because it would give Brooke some other children to be around and play with which I was happy with. I'm just chatting to my sister just now and letting her know what she needs to know about the twins.
"Are you sure you're going to be ok with 3 small children on your own?" I ask Emma. I know for sure that it's not easy so I don't want my sister to get stressed out. She's used to only looking after her daughter so I don't want her getting overwhelmed with my two little ones too.
"Yes, I'll be fine. Don't worry" she replies.
"My children are mini Santana's though so they might cause you a bit of bother" I joke.
"Honestly they will be fine and if they're not I'll call you" Emma states.
"Ok" I nod. "Anyway, I better go now because I have an appointment with my lawyer after I've been to the dentist" I say.
"Sounds serious, is everything ok?" Emma asks me in concern.
"She's been quite down about things lately so I want to do something to cheer her up a bit" I reply.
"I beg your pardon" Emma says while looking at me weirdly. She clearly doesn't understand what I mean. "You want to cheer up your lawyer?" she asks confused.
"It was a joke, I was referring to Santana since she's my wife and also a lawyer" I say with a laugh.
"Ok" Emma nods.
Once I was finished at the dentist, I made my way to Santana's office. I thought it might be nice to go and see her for a while today. I know she's working but I thought she might like a little visit to cheer her up a bit. She's been quite down lately so I thought some time just the two of us might help. Initially I thought she was just dreading her birthday but I think there might be more to it than that so I want to see if I can find out.
As soon as I get inside the building, I make my way over to the receptionist to tell her I'm here but I don't want Santana to know. I didn't want to just walk right in without alerting someone but at the same time I wanted to surprise Santana so I thought I better at least let the receptionist know. I slowly slip into the office and tiptoe over to Santana who has her back to me as she is going through some files in her filing cabinet.
"Guess who" I say while covering Santana's eyes with my hands from behind.
"I know it's you Brittany, I saw you walk into the room out of the corner of my eye" she replies.
"What's wrong babe?" I ask concerned. She seems really down right now.
"Nothing" she sighs before walking away from the desk and over to the couch at the other end of the room.
"I can tell there is something" I say as I sit next to her on the couch. "You know I'm always here for you so whatever it is you can tell me" I say as I reassuringly squeeze her hand.
"I should be happy because I have a good life but I'm not" Santana sighs. "I have you, the kids, a great house and a really good job but I'm still not happy right now in life."
"If this is your way of saying you want another baby then I'm sorry but I just can't do that right now" I say honestly. We've got more than enough going on right now with the 4 kids we have so I don't think I could honestly cope with any more.
"It's not" she says while glaring at me.
"Why are you looking at me like that, it was a reasonable assumption Santana" I point out.
"I didn't mean I'm not happy as in I'm not content with my family; I meant I just don't feel happy in myself right now" she elaborates.
"Ok well you could have explained that then instead of glaring at me" I tell her. I'm not being rude but it's no secret that Santana wanted a big family so I don't think I was in the wrong to assume that's what she was getting at.
"Sorry" she sighs.
"Do you think it's something to do with our relationship that is making you unhappy?" I ask worriedly. I thought we were ok but maybe there is something troubling Santana about us. We were talking the other day about never getting time together so maybe it's that.
"Babe, no. It's nothing like that" she assures me.
"Ok so what do you think it is then?" I ask curiously. I honestly can't think of what it might be because everything seems to be ok.
"I'm so busy at work these days that I miss everything and it's really getting me down" she replies.
"Miss everything?" I ask confused. "What are you talking about babe?"
"I know I get as much time as you, maybe even more with Aiden and Ella since I often take them to and from day-care every day but with Mia and Josh, I feel like I'm missing everything" she tells me. "I missed the first time they laughed, I missed them crawling and rolling over for the first time and they also seem to not really like me" she admits.
"Honey, all of our children love you" I assure her.
"Josh always cries when I'm around and he never settles for me" Santana states.
"No offence to Josh, but he cries all the time not just when you're there" I say while chuckling slightly. I love my son so I mean it in the nicest way possible when I say he's quite a crier. "As for the unsettling, that's because he has missed you all day and doesn't want to go to sleep because you're there and he wants to be with you."
"Ok well what about Mia, she never takes her bottle when I do it. I have to get Ella to help me otherwise she just doesn't drink" she points out.
"Mia can be like that with me too. For some reason she has really latched onto Ella more so than the rest of us so you just need to be patient with her" I reply.
"Ok but the bottom line is that I hate missing out on all of this stuff" she says sadly. "I just wish I could be with the kids more" she adds.
"Honey, we can't afford to have both of us off right now but why don't you take some time off when I go back to work in a few weeks" I suggest.
"I don't know if I should because like you say, we can't take too much time off and put ourselves in debt" she replies.
"Do you know what this is?" I say and Santana shakes her head. "You work way too much sometimes so you need to cut back a little."
"I can't work any less otherwise I wouldn't get my work done in time" she sighs.
"I think you need to hire another receptionist to take some of the heat off you and the other lawyers because you do things that you don't need to do. Your receptionists can handle some of that paperwork you bring home all the time" I tell her.
"I guess we could hire someone else because the business does well so we can afford to" Santana says while thinking about it.
"I would also like you to go back to finishing early on Fridays again because you don't do that anymore" I say. I know it's not that big of a solution to how she feels but if she does bring less work home and finish earlier on Fridays then she'll have more time with the children.
"Ok" Santana nods.
"Do you promise to do that for me?" I ask.
"Yes" Santana smiles.
"Really promise?" I ask to make sure.
"Yes, I really promise" she says while laughing.
"Good because I hate when you get stressed all the time because of work" I tell her. "I care about you so I don't want you to do things that make you unhappy all the time."
"I really love you so much" she says while hugging me.
"I know" I smile. "I'm always going to be here for you so whatever you need just let me know. You're one of the most important people in my life so I always want to make sure you're doing ok" I say honestly.
"Thank you" she says while continuing to hug me a minute more before pulling away. "I will cut back on my work at home but I really should get back to it right now because I need to work at some point" she smiles.
"That's fine" I say before pecking her lips. She smiles at me before standing up and heading back over to her desk to get started working again. "Hey, let me help you today" I say as I follow her over to her desk.
"No disrespect to you Britt, but you don't know anything about law" she tells me.
"At least let me get you coffee and stuff" I shrug.
"You can do that then" she smiles. I kiss her cheek and then head to the staff room to make her some coffee.
"There you go honey" I say as I enter the office again and place Santana's coffee on her desk next to her.
"Thank you" she smiles. "Oh, I never asked, how did the dentist go" she asks, turning to look at me again.
"I've been a good girl, no cavities" I smile.
"It sounds like you might need rewarded for good oral hygiene" she tells me.
"I agree, I think I do need rewarded for good behaviour" I smirk.
"If I get all my work done in time today then I'll leave early and we can have some time together before we need to collect the children" she replies.
"Sounds good" I say.

Friday 12th January 2024
It's Santana's birthday today so I'm going to do whatever it takes to make it a good one for her. I'm still on maternity leave at the moment so I don't need to work and I managed to persuade Santana to take the day off and I'm letting the kids stay at home as well instead of going into day-care. All 6 of us are going to spend the day together and later today some of our family will come over to see Santana. Currently I'm in the kitchen with all 4 kids. Aiden and Ella are helping me to feed Josh and Mia.
"It's mom's birthday today so let's make the day really special for her" I tell Aiden and Ella.
"Make breakfast for her?" Aiden asks, looking up at me.
"That sounds like a lovely idea, let's do it as soon as your brother and sister are finished their milk" I smile.
"What we make mommy?" Aiden asks curiously.
"What do you think mom would like best?" I ask Aiden and Ella.
"Toast!" Ella states excitedly.
"Just Toast?" I ask Ella. I think Santana might like something a little more exciting than that because she can have toast any day of the week.
"No, special toast" Ella replies and after thinking for a second, I realise what she means.
"French toast mommy" Aiden tells me.
"Ok, got it" I smile at them both. "Shall me make some bacon too and have some maple syrup?" I ask.
"Yes mommy" Ella nods her head at me.
After finishing feeding Josh and Mia, I get them settled on their little bouncers at the side and my other two children help me make a start on breakfast. Ideally, I would have liked to take Santana breakfast to her in bed but I think that's more hassle than it's worth since I'd need to try and juggle 4 children and carrying breakfast at the one time. It's just easier this way to set things up in the kitchen and we can all sit down together and eat. As soon as Santana enters the room, Aiden, Ella and I all start singing happy birthday. I'm sure Josh and Mia would join in if they could.
"Thanks guys" Santana says smiling at us.
"Made breakfast" Ella states while going over to Santana and taking her hand to lead her over to the table.
"I see that and it all looks wonderful" Santana says while sitting down where Ella told her to sit.
"Coffee just how you like it" I say while placing a cup in front of Santana before kissing her.
"Thank you" she smiles at me.
As soon as well all finish breakfast, Aiden and Ella help me clear up the dishes. Santana wanted to help but I insisted that I would do everything today and she can have the day off. Aiden and Ella just wanted to help me though. Santana spent some time with Mia and Josh until I finished and then we all joined Santana in the living room to open her presents.
We all spent most of the morning together before we had to get back to our mommy duties and get the kids ready for the day. Aiden and Ella helped us bathe Mia and Josh before they took a bath themselves. Once all the kids were dressed, we spent some time with them and played with them before they went for an afternoon nap. Once the kids were asleep, it gave Santana and I some time to get ourselves sorted individually. I'm currently just finished in the shower so I'm just going to see what Santana is up to now.
"So how is your day so far?" I ask Santana while wrapping my arms around her waist.
"It's been really good. My birthdays are always special with you and the children" she smiles.
"I have another little present for you but you'll have to wait until later to find out what it is" I tell her.
"Sounds sexy" she replies while wrapping her arms around my neck.
"It might be, it might not be" I say with a smirk. I want to keep her guessing so it doesn't spoil the surprise.
"Ok" she smiles.
"So, I know you've been super down about stuff recently but are you doing ok today?" I ask seriously.
"I'm doing a lot better so thank you" she smiles again.
"If you ever need to talk to me about something like this then please just do. It doesn't matter what I'm doing or if I'm busy just talk to me. You are more important to me than work or anything like that" I tell her.
"I really appreciate you Brittany" Santana states.
"I know" I smile.
"Do you know though?" she asks.
"Yeah" I nod.
"I don't think I say it enough just how much I appreciate you and how much I love you. You always know how to make me feel better and you're always there for me through anything" she replies.
"You always seem so strong all the time so I'm just worried that I don't notice when you're down about something" I point out. She normally seems ok about things because nothing seems to phase her or get her down.
"I know it looks like I'm always the one taking care of you but honestly, if you weren't as amazing as you are then I wouldn't be the person that I am. You do things that you don't even know you're doing but they make me feel so loved" she smiles.
"The kids are still napping so I'll make us some coffee and we can spend some time together" I say.
"Ok" Santana smiles.

Saturday 13th January 2024
Yesterday was fun celebrating Santana's birthday with the kids but today is also going to be fun because Santana, myself and some of our friends are all going out to dinner together and then getting some drinks. It is mostly to celebrate Santana's birthday but also just to catch up with our friends and hang out since it's been a while.
"How do I look?" I ask Santana as I finish getting dressed for the night.
"Amazing as always" Santana smiles. "Is it a new dress?" she asks.
"It is" I nod. "I really like it but I wasn't sure if it was a bit much for tonight because it's only dinner and drinks" I point out.
"I think it looks great on you plus it's nice to get dressed up every once in a while, and do something fun. I always like the saying, 'look good, feel good, play good' so if you look good, you'll feel good therefore you'll play good so you should do just that" she smiles.
"You look hot too" I tell her.
"Thank you" she smiles again.
"You are so getting the best birthday sex you've ever had tonight" I say while smirking at her.
"Babe, my birthday was yesterday and we already had sex last night" she replies.
"I know but it doesn't mean we can't continue the birthday celebrations onto tonight especially when we have the whole house to ourselves when we get home" I point out. "Unless you don't want to have sex then we don't…"
"I never said that" she says as she walks over to me. "I would love for us to do that" she says as she pulls me closer to her and kisses me.
As soon as we're both ready, we head to the restaurant to meet our friends. We were first there surprisingly so we took a seat and just chatted to one another while we waited on the others arriving. As soon as everyone did arrive, we ordered some drinks before looking at the menu and then ordering our food.
"As much as I like that this night is all about me, we can't forget about you two" Santana says while looking at Emma and Eva. "Congratulations to both of you on your engagements" she smiles. Artie and my brother Scott recently teamed up to propose to their girlfriends who just happen to be my sister and Santana's sister so tonight is even more special.
"Thank you" Eva says smiling back.
"I think we should all raise our glasses to these 3 ladies" I say while holding my glass in the air. "Cheers everyone" I say and then we all clink our glasses together.
"I think this calls for some champagne" Mercedes points out.
"Good idea, I'll grab us a bottle" I say while calling the waiter over. I then order us a bottle for the table.
"I hope this food comes soon because I don't want to be drunk before we've even eaten" Santana points out.
"It shouldn't be too long" I say just as the waiter brings me the champagne. "Thank you" I smile at the waiter.
"Will the food be long?" Santana asks the waiter.
"Babe, it'll be ready when it's ready" I say while laughing. When Santana's hungry, she's hungry so she doesn't like waiting on her food.
"I'm just getting impatient" Santana shrugs.
"I really don't think the food will be long ladies" the waiter smiles and then leaves.
"Champagne?" I ask Santana as I start filling up glasses with champagne.
"Is the sky blue, baby?" Santana smirks while pushing her glass towards me.
"Sorry that was a stupid question" I say while laughing. Santana really is quite partial to champagne so I don't even know why I had to ask.
"Yeah" Santana smiles.
"Champagne Quinn?" I ask.
"Not for me thanks" Quinn smiles.
"Oh, come on, you haven't touched a drop of alcohol all night. All you've had is water" Tina points out.
"There's only two reasons I can think of as to why you're not drinking tonight and that's either you're a recovering alcoholic or you're pregnant so I'm going to guess you're a recovering alcoholic" Santana states.
"I don't have a drinking problem Santana" Quinn assures her.
"Well you're not pregnant so you must" Santana replies. Quinn doesn't respond, she just looks away. "Oh my god, you're pregnant" she shouts in shock.
"Keep your voice down Santana. I don't want the whole restaurant to hear you" Quinn states.
"Why? Are you ashamed to be having a baby?" Santana asks.
"Of course I'm not" Quinn shakes her head. "It's just really early days right now so I want to keep it private for the time being" she adds. I totally get it because I was the same at the beginning of my pregnancies.
"Ok" Santana nods. The food arrives shortly later so we all start eating. "I know you're happy for Quinn and everything but you're looking just a little bit too gleeful babe" Santana tells me.
"You have no idea how happy I am to be able to celebrate a pregnancy knowing it's not even mine" I say honestly.
"Ok, I get it" Santana laughs. I love my children but for the last couple of years I just seem to be pregnant. I know there were breaks in between but it all went so fast that I've probably spent almost 30 months of my life pregnant.
"So, have either of you got any plans for the wedding yet?" Tina asks Emma and Eva curiously.
"It's still early days but Eva and I were actually thinking about having a double wedding" Emma tells us. "We're both happy as we are so we don't need big extravagant weddings to marry the men that we love. We just want a nice wedding with all of our family and close friends" she points out.
"I'm sure whatever you both decide will be lovely" I smile.
"I actually think a double wedding is better than two singles because it means I only need to buy one outfit and sit through one lot of boring speeches etc." Santana smirks.
"Trust you to say something like that" Quinn says while rolling her eyes at her best friend.
"Hey, if Eva or Emma are anything like you at your own wedding then I'm not going to theirs" Santana states. "You were brutal to me Quinn" she adds.
"I was nervous and panicked, I was not brutal to you" Quinn replies.
"You were actually a little mean to Santana, I had to step in at one point" I say.
"Ok, I apologise about that then. It's just really nerve wracking when you're getting married so I didn't want anything to go wrong so I got all worked up" Quinn states.
"It's ok, apology accepted" Santana smiles. We all then go back to eating our food. "Babe" Santana whispers to me.
"Yeah" I say looking at her.
"Do you want to see something funny?" she asks.
"Always" I smile.
"Ok well follow my lead" Santana whispers. She then puts some food on her fork and holds it up in the air. "Hey, try this honey" she says while moving the fork towards my mouth. I then take the food from her.
"Ladies, please" Quinn frowns at me.
"Oh, you have a little sauce on the side of your face" Santana says before kissing the side of my lips.
"Santana, come on" Tina replies annoyed.
"Oh god, look at their faces" Santana says in a fit of laugher. I can't help but laugh either at how disgusted they look. I don't think it would bother them normally if their partners were here but since it's a girl's only night then I think they tend to get pissed at us since we're the only couple here.
"We were only doing it to tease you" I assure them.
"Just keep things appropriate tonight anyway" Mercedes tells us.
"We will" I nod. We just get back to eating when my cell vibrates with an incoming text.
"Can you check that for me babe because my hands are all messy with this sauce" I ask Santana.
"Sure" she replies while unlocking my phone and checking to see who text me.
"Anyone interesting?" I ask.
"Just your network provider promoting some new tariff to get more data or something" Santana shrugs while locking the phone again.
"Do you two always look at one another's phones?" Eva wonders.
"Yeah pretty much" I nod. "We don't keep secrets really so we always look at one another's phones and stuff" I shrug. I think Santana knows all my passwords and things too.
"So, any time you and I are texting and you're going on about how annoying your wife is, Santana sees that?" Emma asks me with a smirk.
"Do you complain about me to your sister?" Santana asks amusingly.
"She's just trying to wind us both up" I shrug. "I mean what exactly am I supposed to complain about because you're perfect and I love you so much" I smile before pecking Santana's lips.
"Nice save" Santana teases me.
"I swear, I don't talk about you like that. If I have a problem with us then I'll either tell you or keep it to myself and self-destruct" I say with a chuckle. I suppose it's not actually funny but it is true.
Santana's POV
Thursday 18th January 2024
It's my first baby's 4th birthday today so I've took the day off work and the kids aren't going to day-care either. Brittany still hasn't started back work yet so she'll be here all day too. We haven't really got much planned for the day. It's just going to be a quiet morning at home with all the kids and we can have a special birthday breakfast for Aiden and he can open his presents. Then I think later in the day some of the family will come over to see Aiden.
Brittany is currently downstairs with Mia and Josh, warming up some milk for them while I was told to get Aiden and Ella up and out of bed. I say Brittany told me but she more suggested I do that in a firm way. My wife isn't exactly bossy, I just need a bit of a push sometimes when I'm distracted. I was too busy this morning making sure everything was ready for Aiden's birthday that I didn't realise Brittany was struggling to get the kids organised. I get Ella up first and then head to Aiden's room with her.
"Happy birthday sweetheart" I say while covering Aiden's face in kisses as soon as he wakes up.
"Mom, no" Aiden replies while laughing.
"Surely my little boy isn't too old for kisses from his mom already" I say.
"It tickles" he says while still laughing.
"Ok, I'll stop now" I say before placing one final kiss on his head. "Shall we all go downstairs now and see mommy and your little brother and sister?" I suggest.
"Yeah I want to see mommy" Aiden says excitedly while running out of the room.
"Be careful on the stairs please" I shout after my son.
"Aid's birthday?" Ella asks, looking up at me.
"That's right and he turns 4 today" I tell her.
"He get presents?" she asks.
"He does" I nod. "Do you understand why he's the only one getting new things today?" I ask.
"Yeah" Ella nods. "I get toys on my birthday" she smiles.
"Exactly" I smile back. "And Josh and Mia will get presents when it's their birthday" I add.
"You and mommy presents" Ella states.
"Mommy and I get presents too on our birthdays, yes" I smile. "Mommy's birthday is actually in a couple of weeks" I add.
"Ok" Ella nods her head.
"Shall you and I go downstairs now then?" I ask my daughter and she nods again so we head downstairs. When we walk into the kitchen, Josh and Mia are in their bouncers at the side and Brittany has Aiden in her arms.
"So mommy is allowed to give you birthday kisses but I'm not?" I tease Aiden.
"Mommy doesn't tickle" Aiden replies.
"Actually, mommy is really good at tickling" Brittany says while beginning to tickle Aiden.
"Mommy, no!" Aiden screams excitedly.
"Ok, I'll stop" Brittany says. "Anyway, I think we're all hungry right now so how about we all have some breakfast and then you can open your gifts Aiden" she suggests.
"That sounds like a good plan to me" I say.
"Ok" Aiden nods. We all then have some breakfast and then open Aiden's presents with him in the living room. We all spend some time as a family before the rest of our family comes over to see Aiden on his birthday. Brittany and I are currently in the kitchen, sorting out the birthday cake while the kids are with our family in the other room.
"Can you believe we have a 4 year old already?" I say.
"Time really has flown by hasn't it" she nods in agreement.
"I mean he'll be starting pre-school in the fall and then actually going to school next year. I just can't believe how quickly he is growing up" I point out.
"I know what you mean. Just the other day he was really holding a conversation with me and for a split second I just stopped talking and was just in awe of how big he is now" Brittany says. Aiden is actually getting really smart so it surprises me too sometimes whenever we talk.
"I'll be happy with whatever Aiden wants to do when he's older but I really think he could get a great career because he is really smart so if he stays in school and does well then he could be a little genius" I say.
"He must take after you then because he certainly won't become a genius because of my DNA" Brittany says while laughing.
"I know you think you're not smart Brittany but you are. You're very talented at the things you love so don't put yourself down. There are so many amazing traits our children get from you" I say seriously. We all learn in different ways but there is no way Brittany isn't smart because I know she is.
"I love you more and more each day" she smiles at me before kissing me.
"I love you too babe" I smile back.

The kids sleeping patterns are really quite phenomenal so I don't really need to get up much throughout the night. Aiden and Ella have always been great and they're older now so they sleep well whereas Josh and Mia are still really young so I didn't think they would be in a good pattern already but they are which is good. However, with the kids in a good routine it still doesn't mean I don't wake up early. I spent years waking up at the crack of dawn to go running so my body has sort of programmed that so I wake up early most mornings regardless of what happens with the kids. Today is no different so I'm lying in bed awake, waiting on Brittany wakening up.
"Hey" Brittany smiles as she wakes up and looks at me.
"Morning baby, happy birthday" I say as I gently straddle Brittany's lap.
"Thank you" she smiles at me as she runs her hands up and down my thighs.
"Did you sleep well?" I ask as I lean down to kiss her.
"Yeah, not too badly" she smiles. "You?" she asks.
"Yeah I suppose so but I did keep waking up in the night" I say.
"Why's that?" she asks me curiously.
"I think I just feel bad that I'm working today and we can't have the day off on your birthday" I say. Ideally, I'd liked to have been off today but Brittany said I should go to work because we're sending the kids to day-care anyway and she's got a meeting at her own work.
"I know but this is the only day my boss could fit me in to have meeting about my return back to work so I'm going to be busy. Plus, I don't want the kids to miss more day-care because they had Aiden's birthday off and yours so I want to get them back in a normal routine" she points out. "Also, we're taking Mia and Josh to day-care for a few hours so they can get used to it for me going back to work."
"That's true" I nod. Mia and Josh will be going to the same day-care as Aiden and Ella soon so we want to ease them in gently so they're going for a few hours today while I work and Brittany is at her meeting.
"I don't think my meeting will last too long so why don't you finish early and we can squeeze in some time together" Brittany suggests.
"I might just do that actually" I smile.
"I will drive you to work and then take the kids to day-care before heading to my meeting and once I'm done, I'll come by your office" Brittany tells me.
"Sounds like a plan" I smile again. "Firstly though, we're alone right now so I want to give you a little birthday treat" I say as I lean down to kiss Brittany. Just as our lips graze, there's a loud bang.
"Mommy, mom!" we hear Aiden scream as he bangs on the other side of our bedroom door.
"So, help me god Santana if that boy is using his foot to bang on our door" Brittany says unamused as she pushes me off her and storms towards the door. She opens it and Aiden walks in with a beaming smile as he takes Ella's hand to lead her into the room.
"Aiden did you kick the door?" I ask my son.
"I did" Aiden nods at me. I don't know why he is so proud of that but he is.
"How many times have I told you before to stop kicking our door. If you need mom and I then you knock you do not kick. There's a dent on the door now" Brittany says.
"Happy Birthday mommy" Aiden smiles at Brittany.
"Thank you, sweetheart," Brittany smiles back. "Are you listening to me though?" she asks.
"Yes" Aiden sighs.
"Birthday mommy" Ella says while hugging Brittany's leg since she can't reach any higher.
"Thank you" Brittany smiles at Ella while lifting her up.
Once we get Josh and Mia up, all of us have breakfast together before Brittany opens her presents and then we get ready for the day. Just like Brittany said, she dropped me off at work and then took the kids to day-care before going to her meeting.

Brittany's meeting took a little longer than she thought it would so we didn't leave my office until later than expected. We've still got a little bit of time left though before we need to get the kids so we're heading back home. I've got Brittany a special birthday present that I didn't get to show her this morning so I want to show her it now.
"Ok, I want you to close your eyes for me" I say as Brittany and I walk through the front door and put our purses and keys at the side.
"Why?" she teases.
"Please babe, I want this to be a surprise" I tell her.
"Fine, ok" she smiles and then closes her eyes. I then carefully lead her through the house towards the kitchen.
"The surprise is outside so we're going to go outside now" I say while unlocking the door from the kitchen to go outside. "We're about to go down a step now" I tell her so she doesn't fall.
"Ok" she nods. I then carefully lead her outside to where the surprise is.
"Ok Britt, open your eyes" I say while turning to look at her. As soon as she opens her eyes, she looks at me surprised.
"You bought a hot tub?" Brittany asks me shocked.
"Yeah, happy birthday" I smile.
"Honey I love you but these things are not cheap. You didn't need to spend so much money on me for my birthday" she tells me.
"It's not just for you though because we can both benefit from this. I've always wanted a hot tub and with careful supervision the kids can enjoy it too" I say.
"Ok" she smiles. "I really do love it" she says before leaning in to kiss me. After having a little look around it, we head back inside because now isn't really the time to try it out. We're heading upstairs now to change because our family will most likely come over later to visit Brittany for her birthday.
"It's a shame we got interrupted this morning because I was totally going to rock your world with the best birthday sex ever" I tell Brittany as we walk into our bedroom.
"Come on, let's do this now then" Brittany smiles while hurriedly removing her jacket. "We need to hurry though because we've only got 15 minutes before we need to leave" she states. The kids are at day-care so we need to collect them soon.
"Ok" I nod.
"Now get your pretty little butt over here" she smiles while forcefully pulling me towards her before wrapping her arms around me and kissing me.
Brittany's POV
Saturday 3rd February 2024
Santana, the kids and I are all hanging out in the living room. Santana and I probably have chores to do but we're not really bothering with them this morning because we'd rather just spend some time with the children. Josh and Mia are sitting in their little bouncers as we play with them while Aiden plays with some cars on the floor and Ella watches another episode of Peppa Pig from the couch.
"Can we have breakfast now?" Aiden asks us as he turns around to look at Santana and I.
"Sweetheart, I fed you and Ella earlier so you've already eaten breakfast" Santana replies. She gave them both some breakfast while I fed Mia and Josh.
"Is it too early for lunch then?" Aiden wonders.
"Just a little bit buddy" I reply while chuckling at him. He is just so cute all the time.
"Plus, we're going out for lunch later" Santana adds.
"Maybe a snack then?" Aiden asks.
"You're not having anything else to eat just now buddy because you won't eat your lunch otherwise when it's time" I tell him.
"I will" Aiden assures me.
"No Aiden, no snacking right now because it was a big filling breakfast you ate" I tell him.
"I am sorta hungry myself" Santana admits.
"Me and you eat then" Aiden shrugs while running over to Santana to try to pull her up.
"I really don't want anyone eating right now when we're going to go to a restaurant for lunch in a little while" I say seriously.
"Just a little snack babe" Santana says while giving me her cutest smile and then kissing me.
"Santana…"
"Just a little one" Santana says before kissing me again.
"Fine" I sigh while giving in. I can hardly say no anymore when Santana is kissing me and the kids are all staring at me hungrily.
"Yeah!" Aiden says while jumping around excitedly causing Ella to do the same.
"Can you two watch Josh and Mia for us and mom and I will get you a little snack" I say to Aiden and Ella.
"Yes mommy" Aiden smiles at me.
"Thank you" I tell my son before Santana and I head to the kitchen. "We're not giving them loads to eat, maybe just some fruit" I say as I get some bowls out.
"Ok honey" Santana smiles. I then start preparing some fruit for the kids when I feel something loosen on my back.
"Santana!" I say shocked but laughing at the same time.
"What?" she shrugs.
"Did you just unhook my bra?"
"Yeah" she smiles. "I'm just playing with you and annoying you" she adds.
"Hook it back up please before we go back to the kids" I tell her.
"No" she shrugs before taking the kids snack through to them.
"Santana get back here" I tell her.
"I'm coming" she laughs while appearing in the kitchen again.
"Hook it back together please" I tell her again.
"Why can't you do it?" she asks me.
"Babe please" I plead with her.
"You're no fun this morning" she tells me while clasping my bra together again.
"I am fun but I don't want to be running around behind children braless" I say. "Feel free to unhook it any time later" I smile.
"I'll hold you to that" she smiles back. We then head back to the living room with Santana's snack since the kids have theirs already.
"Aid, where's your fruit?" Santana asks him as we sit down on the couch.
"I ate it" Aiden replies while climbing on Santana.
"Already?" I ask surprised. He must have been hungry if he's eaten it all already.
"Yeah" Aiden nods before getting off Santana and then standing on the couch bouncing slightly before pouncing on her again.
"Don't jump on your mom please Aiden" I tell him.
"Why mommy?" Aiden asks.
"Because it hurts" Santana answers while rubbing her shoulder.
"Mommy" Ella says excitedly while jumping on me.
"Aiden, you've got your sister copying you now" I say laughing as I catch Ella in my arms.

"So, I was looking online last night and there seems to be some good deals at the moment so I thought all 6 of us could take a little vacation sometime" I say as the 6 of us are all now sitting at the restaurant for lunch together.
"When were you thinking of going?" Santana asks curiously.
"I'm not sure yet" I reply.
"I was speaking to my sister last night and she said they were thinking about going away for the wedding so maybe we could try and coincide with that and once the wedding is over, the 6 of us could stay on for another week or something" Santana suggests.
"Sounds good but that's in the summer so I was thinking we could go a little earlier than that because we haven't been on vacation in a while and I could use some time away to relax" I reply. I suppose I haven't been working recently since I'm on maternity leave so I shouldn't complain but it's more Santana I'm concerned about. She works so hard so I want her to have a little break to relax.
"Why don't the 6 of us go away for a few days then at the end of the month and then have a proper vacation after the wedding in the summer" Santana says.
"We could do that" I say while thinking it over. It seems like a good option to me.
After we finished lunch, we took the kids to the park for a little bit. Josh and Mia were asleep in the stroller but Aiden and Ella ran around for a bit. We thought taking them to the park would tire them out so that when they go to Santana's parents house then they won't be as energetic and will settle for their grandparents. It seemed to work well actually because we're home now and all the kids are napping before we take them to Santana's parent's house.
"Hey honey" I say to Santana as I walk into the dining room where she currently is with her laptop. She is cutting back on working at home but with all 4 kids asleep then she decided to just do a little work.
"Hi" she smiles at me while leaning her head back slightly against the chair so I can lean down and kiss her.
"Are you working hard or hardly working baby?" I tease.
"Working hard of course" she smiles at me as I take a seat next to her.
"I can't influence you to stop then and temp you with a little coffee date in the kitchen?" I ask.
"I did manage to get a good chunk of work done so I probably could stop now" she tells me. "Plus, I really want a cup of coffee right now and I really want to spend a little time with you."
"Let's have this mini date then" I smile. It's really nothing exciting but we both want coffee and with the kids asleep then we can sit in the kitchen together and just talk.
"I was thinking once the kids go to my parents house tonight, you and I could finally test out that hot tub" Santana suggests as she tidies up her papers on the table and puts her laptop away.
"I am so up for that" I smile.
"And since we're kid free, we might not even need bathing suits" she says with a smirk.
"Honey, our hot tub is situated outside so our neighbours will probably see us so that's not going to be wise" I say. It's not entirely in full view of our neighbours but it's not completely out of the way either so they could probably still see something.
"Good point" Santana nods. "I don't want our neighbours seeing my hot wife naked. That is something for my eyes only."
"Yeah I don't want anyone seeing you naked either. I like being the only one that can do that" I smile.
"Me too" Santana says while wrapping her arms around me from behind.
"Getting in the mood already, are we?" I ask as I place my hands on top of hers as we walk to the kitchen.
"I can't wait to get you alone today because we seem to have been interrupted a lot recently whenever we've got close" she says while kissing the side of my neck.
"Yeah, it's going to be a fun night tonight" I say. "Romantic but very sexy" I smirk as I turn my head slightly to look at Santana.
"I agree" Santana smiles while her hands start roaming around my body as we reach the kitchen. "Ouch babe" she frowns at me as I swat her hand away from my butt.
"Excuse me, what are you doing?" I ask before pointing to the corner of the kitchen where Aiden is. He is sitting on the floor with a box of cereal in his hands, trying to throw pieces of cereal in the air to catch them in his mouth.
"Nothing" Aiden replies guiltily while trying to scramble around to hide the box of cereal.
"You, young man are supposed to be napping" Santana says while walking over to our son and taking the box of cereal from him.
"I was hungry" Aiden replies annoyed since the food is out of his reach now.
"This is your fault babe for letting them snack this morning. They think it's ok to snack between meals now" I point out.
"This can't be a surprise Britt, Aiden is like me as a kid. I was always hungry and wanting more. This isn't because of this morning. He would have done this regardless" Santana tells me.
"Honey, did lunch not fill you up?" I ask Aiden while lifting him into my arms.
"No mommy" he shakes his head at me. "Couldn't sleep either" he adds with a shrug.
"Why don't we have a little race with your cars then and that'll distract you from getting hungry?" I suggest.
"Babe, coffee date" Santana tells me.
"I know but what do you want me to do" I say. I can't just leave Aiden to run around himself now that he's awake.
"Ok, I'm sorry" Santana replies. I get where she is coming from because she stopped work for me and now, we can't do what we were going to do. "I'll make us coffee and you set up the track with Aiden" she says.
"Thank you" I say while kissing Santana. "As soon as the kids go, I'm all yours baby."
"Ok" she smiles.
"Hey do you want to have sex and really christen this hot tub as soon as the kids leave?" I ask.
"What about the neighbours, I thought you were worried about them?" Santana states.
"I don't care about them anymore. If they know what we're doing then they're a bunch of creeps for staring at us doing it" I point out.
"Ok" Santana replies while kissing me.
