Hey everyone, it's been forever since I've updated this story (April was the last time I did so). I'm sorry for not updating sooner, but I lost my muse to write, and of course I just had to get the budding urge to start writing this again a week before school starts back up (I'm going to be a freshman this year). So anyway, I'm sorry for the wait, my friend came over today or I guess it was yesterday as it's now past midnight, although she is still here...and we decided to write this chapter. Honestly, I wrote like four or five sentences and edited while the rest was all her work. I've mentioned her before as KingdomSonic (That's her YouTube account name) and she's quite awesome and quite a good writer. So anyway, I hope the next interlude between chapters isn't nearly as long. Thank you all for your support and I hope you'll all continue to read this story as long as I continue to update it.

LAST CHAPTER!
And so, Naruto and Red started training...
[Insert Training Montage Here]
THIS CHAPTER!
Red stared at the Pidgey infront of her. She'd just finished an excruciating battle sequence with Naruto, including epic explosions, tons of swearing, and anything and everything you could possibly imagine happening during battles.
Throughout the battling her Pokemon had gotten a lot stronger, and something was now happening to the Pidgey that she'd caught sometime in February.
"Um, what the hell is happening to your Pokemon?" Naruto asked confused at its strange glowing.
Red looked at him. "Oh, right, you don't know about that. It's evolving into its next form. It will be bigger, stronger, and overall, better."
After a minute or so of waiting, the Pidgey finished changing shape, and was now indeed bigger, and obviously more powerful, and just plain awesome in Naruto's opinion.
"Naruto, from now on, you can call my Pidgey, Pidgeotto." Red stated proudly, while Pidgeotto called out in the backround.
"Why does its name change? I mean, I get that its call changes, but is that really any reason to change its name?" Naruto asked, not really seeing the point to the change.
In response to the question, Red stopped, and sat there, attempting to find out the reason herself. "I guess... It's just because before anything was offical, people must have thought that they were all different creatures that just looked similar. Don't quote me on that though, it was just a guess."
Naruto sighed, he wanted to get a better anwser then that, but maybe Prof. Oak could tell him. As that thought crossed his mind, Naruto suddenly realized the time. "I think we should go get some sleep. It's way past time for that, and we don't want to you to be tired for you big battle tommorow, right?"
Red smiled. "I guess that you're right, that would be bad. I have to be ready, not asleep at your feet!"
With that said and done, they returned to the Pokemon Center to catch some Z's before the next day arrived.

Upon waking up, Naruto found that Red had gotten an early start. After walking outside, he spied her not far from the gym, giving her Pokemon a pep talk. As she was near the end of her mini speech, Naruto walked up and said, "Why didn't you wake me? I would have followed you around and helped with your pep talk."
Red jumped, not expecting him to appear behind her. "Um, I actually attempted to wake you, but you were out cold."
Naruto grinned sheepishly. "Opps." He sighed. "Can we just get on with your fight?"
Red nodded. "Do you think it's nessasary to take the challange route again, or should we just cut to the chase?"
Naruto thought for a second before saying, "Yeah, I think we should just get this over with as soon as possible, so that we can continue on our journey!"
"Very well then, let us move on to Brock the Leader!" Red yelled, before running into the gym, followed by her Pokemon, and Naruto shortly after.
Not even a minute later, Red had yelled at Brock to fight her, Brock had taken her up on the offer, and they engaged in combat.
Red through out her Pidgeotto, and Brock released his Geodude. Red went with a hit and run strategy, making Pidgeotto keep its distance and avoid phyiscal contact at all costs. For the most part Geodude was chucking rocks at Pidgeotto, while it flew around the arena using Gust at every available took a minute or two, but Geodude finally gave into fatigue.
Brock sighed and recalled his Pokemon, telling it that it had done the best that it could do. He then sent out Onyx, the Pokemon that Red had been dreading to fight. She had no advantages, and its size made it so Pidgeotto couldn't attempt the same hit and run staratgy. Red decided to use Pidgeotto's size and speed to her advantage instead.
"PIdgeotto, you're smaller that Onyx! Dive and twist your way to victory!" Red called out to her Pokemon. However, by some form of really bad luck, Onyx was simply twisting around to try and find out when Pidgeotto flew off to, and smacked Pidgeotto with its tail, somehow knocking it out. "Pidgeotto!" Red cried out to her Pokemon as she recalled it before it hit the ground.
Brock was stunned by that. By pure luck he knocked out what he knew was probably her best shot at winning, judging from the fact that she didn't send her main pokemon out after Geodude was knocked out, and Onyx prevented her best stratagy.
"It's up to you now Charmander!" Red said to the lizard as she threw its Pokeball into the air. Charmander popped out, and instatly got cold feet upon seeing Onyx on the field. It ran into the corner, cowering.
Brock raised an eyebrow. "Maybe you should train some more, get some better pokemon. Your Pidgeotto is doing well, but your Charmander needs some real work." Brock was just about to call the match off as Red hung her head, but then Charmander jumped up, fire in its eyes. Brock stared at the fire pokemon for a second, before saying, "Now that is more like it! Let's get this show on the road!"
With that the fight continued, both giving it all they had. However, Charmander wasn't doing so hot. Sudduly, Red had a brilliant idea. "Charmader, use Onyx's body like stairs and climb!" Charmander was confused, but did so anyway.
Brock didn't like where that was going and ordered Onyx to shake Charmader off. However, it hung on like a pro, and finally made it to the top, awaiting orders. "Use scratch on its eyes, Charmander!" Red called out, and finally, Brock could see clearly where Red's plan was heading. Brock could not think of anything to counter the stratagy as he watched Onyx writh in pain as Charmader scratched at it, not getting thrown off as Onyx shoke its head back and forth, its eyes starting to tear up in pain.
"You got him backed into a corner Red, dattebayo, finish the job!" Naruto called out, amazed at the stratagy used, having never would have thought of that himself.
"Right, Naruto!" Red smiled at him. "Charmander, finish it off!" Charmander jumped off Onyx, running its claws down its side as it fell. Before Charmander even touched the ground, Onyx was passed out, sprawled across the arena.
Brock, who appeared to still be trying to process what happened a moment ago, as he recalled Onyx to its Pokeball, looked at Red and Naruto, who were excitingly talking to each other about how awesome that victory was. Brock smiled and thought to himself, 'I didn't think that they would both manage to pull it off. I thought that maybe the boy would, because of his type advantage, but the girl? I thought she would take a bit longer.'
Brock walked up to the pair. "That was an amazing victory you pulled off there. I didn't believe that you would beat me this quickly. I thought you would have to attempt it at less two more times."
Naruto smiled. "Yeah, right. Red's stronger and smarter than she might look!" Naruto didn't mean it to be offencive, but Red took it as half an insult, and smacked him in the head for it. Naruto looked at her with puppy dog eyes. "Why did you do that?"
"You might have meant for that to be a good thing, but that was a bit of a stupid thing to say." Brock said to Naruto as he rubbed his head. "Anyway, I think that you totally earned the Stone Badge." He then handed her the small object.
Red's eyes lit up. "Oh, thank you! It can only get easier from here!"
Brock frowned. "That isn't acually true. The next gym is a water type gym. You will be at an even bigger disadvantage than with me. I wish you the best of luck however."
Red smiled and thanked him again before Naruto started trying to drag her to the next city, in the wrong direction. Red rolled her eyes and walked off in the other direction while Naruto was yelling at her that she was heading the wrong direction, completely unaware that he was trying to go in the wrong direction himself.
Brock smiled as they disappeared someway away, however, he could still hear Naruto yelling. 'You are going to need a lot of luck with that boy following you, Red. Good luck.' He then retreated to the Pokemon Center to heal his injured Pokemon.
"Where are we going now?" Naruto asked.
"I thought you knew? The next city is Cerulean City, but first we must past throught this route, and Mount Moon. That place is said to be filled to the brim with annoying Zubats, so watch out."
Naruto sighed, "But I just want to get to the next city!"
"Well, you just need to get used to that, because this is how it is between all cities." Red said calmly as Naruto practicly burst into tears at the thought of such a long wait inbetween good intense battles.
With that, the strange duo made their way out of the city and off to Route 3.
