If you have a scene request feel free to pm me and I will do my best to make it happen.
(Sunday June 3rd)
The Volturi decided to stay in Fort Ebey State Park on Whidbey Island as to be closer to Bella. Not to mention that Seattle was still on alert given the recent murders. It was better to be on an island where they had privacy, enough to eat and an easy means of getting to forks fast.
The guard was dismissed and told to hunt only if they really needed it. If they did then they were to leave the body behind and make the cause of death look accidental. They also had to hunt as far north in Canada as they could without compromising the time it would take them to return at a moment's notice. The rest of the guard was to fan out and give the kings privacy.
"I cannot go another day without seeing her." Marcus said as he watched the horizon in Bella's direction from the top of a tall tree.
"I understand brother but this situation will require time and patience." Aro said not liking that they had to deal with his nieces' 'body guards'. In any other situation he would have simply killed them. Sadly he had limited options.
"Why can we not simply just kill them and take her with us?" Caius said bored of this conversation again. Marcus glared daggers at him in response. Caius simply held up his hands and rolled his eyes.
"Very well."
"I will not hold my patience with those 'children' any longer. I can admire that they are willing to die for her to keep her safe but not when it's being done against me. She needs to know the truth. I want her to know she has another option besides simply dying as a mortal." Marcus said as he replayed Aros words from Edwards's memories.
"If that foolish boy shad simply given in to her wish to become like us, I would have her by my side already."
"True, that Cullen boy did not know what he could have had. They would still be in love and he would have a place in the guard. She would be our first princess and bring a new modern perspective." Aro said as he imagined what it would have been like if Edward hadn't been so foolish. Bella's gift would surely come in use in battle.
"There's no use in living in your imaginary worlds. We can only do the best we can with what we have. At least this way you can build a true connection to her." Caius said to Marcus and Aro wanting to stop their incessant dreaming of what could have been. He was afraid they would at any moment begin to braid each other's hair and talk about which wolf was cuter.
"I want my daughter to know who I am. I will not wait much longer." Marcus said as he punched a tree and made a crack appear.
Jacob didn't know what was going on but he was basking in the energy he felt around Bella. The air around them felt different. It was almost as if she was contemplating kissing him. Although he merely told himself this many times, this time he felt it. The first move would have to be hers. He didn't want to push her into anything she didn't feel comfortable doing.
Bella lowered her head and hugged him.
"Thanks Jake."
Jake hugged her back. 'I knew it.'
"No problem honey."
Sam wanted some peace and quiet but he knew that wouldn't come soon. So when his patrol shift came up again he decided to take advantage and free his mind. Since he is the alpha he can actually keep everyone else out of his head. He let his wolf instincts unleash as he ran circles through his patrol area. He took in all of the smells, sounds and sight of everything around him. His wolf slowly allowed him to relax enough to calm his mind and think.
No matter what scenario he ran in his mind nothing worked out in the end. He tried over and over again to find a solution to their dilemma and everything ended badly. Sam could only truly think of Emily. He did think of the pack but Emily would always come first. He thought of sending her away but that would only keep her out of his protection. Not to mention his wolf protested vigorously.
He just hoped for the least brutal ending. No matter what happened he would go out fighting.
(The dungeons in Volterra)
The Cullen's had arrived in Volterra sometime in the night and now were being tortured to Jane's sick pleasure. Edward couldn't figure out what was going on since it was only Jane or Felix who took turns guarding them. Every time he had the opportunity to read their minds he could never get anything. They were purposefully blocking him from getting any vital information.
He didn't know what would happen to him and he didn't care. All he could think about was Bella. He knew Aro was going to see her and by now he probably already killed the wolves to get to her. His frozen heart was filled with sorrow and grief that he himself caused this. Bella's death was on him, and no amount of Jaspers power was going to change that. Jasper kept sending him and the family waves of relief whenever Jane ceased her torment. It was noble of Jasper to want to help in some way given their situation.
Edward was also surprised to not see the general appear. Jasper was showing extreme control and it was admirable. Edward thought by now Jasper would have given in since they were all separated into different cells and he couldn't physically touch Alice. He had always noticed how when Jaspers thoughts began to shift Alice would calm him down. Now he had no way of being with her and he was being strong. Surely their separation was another way to hurt them by the Volturi.
Edward clenched his hands and took in a deep breath to steady himself as he heard Jane's footsteps coming down the stone steps. Another round of pain would be his only distraction.
After he was done eating and talking to Bella, Jake stayed with her for about two hours. He needed sleep and Bella didn't want him to lose time by running all the way back to the reservation plus it meant she was safer with him there. They shared the bed and Jake was out under a minute. Bella liked to watch him sleep. For a brief second she wondered if this was how Edward felt when he watched her. She quickly dismissed the thought as it only stirred unpleasant things.
When it was time for Jake to leave Bella hugged him and watched him disappear into the woods. After that she went back to sleep. Charlie would more than likely sleep in a bit more and she wanted to be well rested before she went to the rez.
Bella and Charlie headed to the rez after lunch just before 1 p.m. She was anxious to already get there but she hid her feelings from Charlie. He had enough on his mind and she didn't want to make him suspicious as to why she really wanted to go. He was still worried about the situation in Seattle. Thankfully Bella could now be ok with Charlie leaving after her graduation to go help. After all there was no more danger waiting for him there anymore.
Once they arrived to Billy's house Bella saw Jacob wheeling his father out of the house. Happiness and skepticism on both of their faces was obvious.
"Hey Bells." Jake said as he walked forward and enveloped Bella in a bear hug. Well wolf hug.
"Hi Jake, Hi Billy." Bella replied.
"Hello Bella. Anxious to pawn off your old man for a few hours to me?" Billy said as he saw Charlie walking towards him.
"Who are you calling old? Have you looked in the mirror lately?" Charlie responded.
"I did, that's why I called you old man." (Billy laughs)
The two 'old men' go inside to pick up their fishing supplies. Once they have the cruiser packed they head towards the dock to board the boat. Bella and Jacob are left alone, for a few seconds before Paul appears.
"Hi Paul." Bella says as she hugs him. Paul lifts her and twirls her a bit happy to see her.
"Hi Bella, so, when are we gonna go meet the leeches?" Paul said bluntly and to the point. He never was one for sugarcoating things.
Jacob growls in anger at Paul but he knows Paul is as anxious as he is.
"At three, I already called them and told them to meet me at the treaty line." Bella said calmly. She saw the tensed look in both Jacobs and Paul's eyes and broke out in laughter. "I'm kidding, I can't believe you both believed me." Bella said as she walked to the couch.
"Not cool Bella." Paul said calming himself down.
"I was this close to shifting Bells." Jacob said as he held two fingers closely together. He couldn't believe he fell for it.
"Just thought I could lighten the mood with a joke." Bella said from the couch. She was now actually contemplating calling them but she didn't know how.
"Stop thinking Bells, I'm afraid of the consequences." Jacob said as he went to go and sit by her.
Paul joined them but on the love seat. He stretched out on it exhausted from patrols.
"Why?" Bella asked knowing the answer already.
"I know that look. You are about to do something stupid." Jacob said putting his left arm up on the couch. Bella scooted closer to him and settled herself into the space. She fit perfectly. It actually surprised Jacob. Bella isn't this affectionate unless she needs to keep warm and that's usually when they are outside and she never makes the first move.
Paul noticed this too but didn't say anything. He wanted to keep watching them.
"I just want to get this over with. I would much rather meet them now than prolong it. You guys need your rest and as soon as we deal with them the sooner you will all get some much needed rest. The newborns are gone and so is Victoria so you can ease up on patrols." Bella said feeling guilty that all of this was happening because of her.
Jake didn't want her to meet the kings, but he definitely didn't want her meeting them to spare them.
"Bells, this is what we do. We can take it. This is what we were made for. Besides no one likes the idea of you going to talk to them without backup." Jake said.
"Damn straight." Paul said. No way in hell he would let her too.
"We don't really have a choice. They won't leave. I don't want to go alone either but what if we end up starting another war. The whole pack can't go." Bella said as she pictured all of the wolves there with her.
"You don't have a choice. Sam already told us we are going. Not that any of us wouldn't have gone with you anyways." Paul said sitting up to look at Bella better.
"He's right. We just need to deal with this. No one likes that Aro will touch you but if we can avoid it then the better." Jake said the words but he knew it was no use. That leech king would not take no for an answer.
"So when are we doing this?" Paul asked.
"I don't know." Bella said. "How will we even know how to contact them for a time and place?"
"I have no idea." Jake said as he thought about it.
"Well it seems both sides didn't think it through." Paul said.
"We could call them." Bella said after a moment of thought.
Both Paul and Jake looked at her gunny. Was she not just listening to her own words?
"I mean that when we get to the treaty line you can howl. It's the only thing we can do since we don't really have an idea of how to contact them." Bella said trying to find a solution.
Paul and Jake seemed to think about it.
"It sounds like a good idea but it may not work. They won't know for sure if it's for them and they will want to avoid a fight by avoiding coming unannounced." Jake said not feeling confident with Bella's idea.
"Well then what else? I don't have their phone number, do you?" Bella asked straightening up away from Jake crossing her arms. They really should have exchanged information.
"Is there a way we can find it?" Paul chimed in. It seemed like a good question. "Is there a leech directory?"
Jake cocked his eyebrow at him. "Go get the phone book and check." He said.
"Maybe they are." Bella said as she got up and went to get Jakes laptop. Rather than waiting Paul and Jake followed her.
"Bells I don't think they have a face book account announcing who they are." Jake said not sure where Bella was going.
"I know that but maybe there is a number we can call in Italy." Bella said.
"Why would we call Italy when they are in Washington?" Jake asked not sure where Bella was going with this.
"If we can talk to someone over there then maybe we can get transferred to one of their phones or at least give them my number so we can get a call back." Bella said.
"That doesn't sound like a bad idea." Paul said as he thought about it. "You do realize your cell phone bill is going to sky rocket right?"
"Yes. I don't care, it won't be a long call." Bella said. Paul and Jake watched as Bella slowly found exactly what she was looking for. It was difficult since there weren't many pages advertising the castle. Probably a security measure. She had to go directly to the city's visitor's page and look under 'attractions' to find any contact information on the castle. There was no phone number only an email address to contact for basic information.
"I guess it would be too risky to advertise their number online." Bella surmised. Jake and Paul scowled, 'Or maybe to make it harder for families looking for their loved ones.'
Bella decided to input her email and write a brief message all the while making sure to not include any sensitive information. You never know who is actually on the receiving end of the email, it could be a company who handles emails and sorts through them for spam or an assistant who has no clue what is going on. Worse if it was a dummy page and she inadvertently blabs the secret.
Hello
My name is Bella Swan and I am trying to get the contact information of Marcus Volturi. Please have him contact me.
Bella S.
Phone Number: (XXX) XXX-XXXX
She looked at Paul and Jacob who simply nodded and she pressed send.
"Hope that works." Bella said.
"I'm gonna go talk to Sam. If there is a reply we need to have a plan. Be right back." Paul said as he jumped out the window to go shift.
Volterra, Italy (Sunday, June 3rd around 8 p.m.)
Gianna was working late this weekend since the kings were gone with some of the guard. Everyone in the castle had to make sure no one knew of their absence. Thankfully she had plenty to catch up on. She was fully inversed in organizing tourist tours when her computer pinged. A tiny square alerted her to an incoming email.
"Huh." Gianna said. "Strange, no one ever uses that email." They had made sure to give very little information on the castle as to avoid paper trails and unwanted attention. It was simply added to the city's main website to placate the tourism board. They wanted to make the castle a main attraction but Aro of course put a stop to it. Can't have police going through the halls searching for lost tourists.
Hello

As soon as Gianna was done reading she was scared. No one truly knew the names of the kings outside of the Castle, the ones that were didn't know what they were. Gianna didn't know what to do. Surely Master Aro would see this the next time he touches her so she has to act. After a moment of contemplation she puts on her headset and dials Master Marcus cell phone number.
"Gianna, is everything alright at the castle?" Marcus asked as soon as he answered. It was odd to have their assistant call them at all. It was even stranger that she didn't call Aro.
"Yes Maser, everything is running smoothly. That is not why I called you." Gianna replied getting afraid to speak.
"Then?" Marcus asked a little annoyed, he had much better things to think about.
"Someone contacted us through the email we set up on the city's tourism website. They asked for you by name master." Gianna replied. She knew too well other vampires were listening to the conversation at this moment from both sides. The vampire who guards the main entrance can most definitely hear her and who knows who else is near Master Marcus.
Marcus looked to his brothers who were staring at the phone impatiently.
"What did the message say?"
"It says: Hello. My name is Bella Swan and I am trying to get the contact information of Marcus Volturi. Please have him contact me. Bella S. and then it lists her phone number. What should I do Master?" Gianna asked.
"Its fine Gianna, calm yourself. What is the number?" Marcus asked elated that his daughter was proving to be very resourceful.
"It's (XXX) XXX-XXX." Gianna replied. "Should I do anything else Master?"
"No. Return to your duties and do not speak to anyone about the message. I will talk to you when we return." With that he hung up.
Gianna simply returned to her duties trying to not over think things. Hopefully this was good news and Master Marcus wasn't going to punish her on his return.
"She is very resourceful brothers. She found a way to reach me." Marcus said with a bright wide smile. He had her number dialed on his phone. He instantly saved it, not that he would ever forget it.
"It seems both sides forgot to exchange contact information. Right brother?" Caius asked sounding like an ass.
"Oh shut up. I was trying to keep my composure." Marcus barked out.
"Well. Are you not going to call her?" Aro asked itching to hear his niece.
"Of course. I am simply savoring the moment." Marcus said not wanting to admit he was nervous.
(the phone began to ring)
Bella stared at the unknown number.
"Oh geez." She said knowing who it was. Who else would it be?
"Calm down Bells." Just keep calm and answer. You heard Paul. Sam said a meeting at 5 would be fine just as long as they follow our rules and know you will not be alone." Jake said reassuring her as Paul glared at the phone. He wanted to keep Bella away from it but he knew she would have one of his brothers kick his ass.
Bella nodded vigorously and picked up.
"Hello?" Bella said sounding nervous, scared and downright dumb.
"Hello mia Bella. I was impressed to see you contact our humble home for information on me. Not many know how." Marcus said praising her intellect.
"It wasn't easy but then again it shouldn't be. We didn't know how to contact you." Bella said getting some confidence in her voice back.
"Yes, my apologies my dear, it was an oversight on both sides. Now you have my personal number as I have yours. Feel free to use it whenever you may need it." Marcus said as he received a growl first. "Ah I see your friends are a little apprehensive about that. Not to worry. It is just a phone call." Marcus said with a smile. Aro and Caius joined him. The wolves were easy to antagonize.
"Thank you Marcus. I was calling to arrange a meeting between us for this afternoon. I want this matter resolved quickly for all of our sakes." Bella said wanting to remedy the situation. Plus she could feel the temperature in the room rise thanks to Paul and Jacob.
Marcus knew it wouldn't be easily resolved. He wasn't going to leave her but she didn't have to know that just yet.
"What did you have in mind?"
"The treaty line at 5 where you met the pack yesterday." Bella said.
"Then at the treaty line at 5 it is. I look forward to seeing you again Bella." Marcus said meaning every word.
"Okay. Goodbye." Bella replied.
"Goodbye." Marcus said.
They both hung up.
Bella stared at her phone for a second then placed her head in her hands. That was a very intense call. Having wolves around you listening in didn't help.
"No turning back now." Paul said. Jacob gave him a look to give them privacy. "I'll go tell the others." He then opened the window and jumped out.
"Are you ready? It's only a few hours away." Jacob said to Bella whose heart rate was soaring.
"No but that's never stopped me before doing something reckless." Bella said.
Jacob smiled as he lifted her head by her chin with his fingers.
"I won't leave your side Bells. I won't let anything happen to you." Jacob said with all the love he could muster. He would die protecting her.
Bella gazed into Jakes beautiful brown eyes that held so much longing to love her if she let him. She could see the little boy who held her hand when she was scared of thunder, the boy who made mud pies with her, the boy who made sand castles with her and the man who was beside her ready to die for her. She had someone who would give her everything all along, she was just too blinded by 'perfection' to see it. If she was going to die in a few hours then she would die without ever wondering what if.
Bella leaned towards Jakes lips and finally kissed him. Jake stood frozen for a moment and then kissed her back. He couldn't help but smile wide as they did. He was so overjoyed but refused to say one word out of fear of screwing it up.
Bella was the one to break up the kiss smiling back.
"What was that for?" Jake asked needing to know what changed her mind.
"I don't want to have any regrets." Bella said as she kissed him again. They lay down on the bed together in each other's arms. Neither of them saying a word, the moment was special without them.
'If a few hours are all I have left then I will spend them with you Jacob Black.' Bella thought as she gazed into his eyes.
There was no going back now.
