Hello to all of my wonderful readers. First of all I would like to apologize that it took so long for me to get the sequel up. Having to jumble a personal life and a work life is never easy. Secondly, I would like to apologize that I didn't post something like this much sooner. This my friends… this is my thank you to all of you. To those of you who have stuck around and waited anxiously for each chapter to be posted until New Wars are Fought by Old Warriors was completed, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you truly.
It's amazing that over five years ago I discovered FanFiction, I remember the day. It was May 12, 2013. I had never even heard of FanFiction before then. I stumbled across a few stories that were created by three amazing authors who inspired me to write a Fallout Fanfiction of my own. Nave the DM, back then he used to be NaveNinja, CyberJordan, and last, but not least eaglescorch. These three authors created stories that I was captivated by. CyberJordan had written Steel Vengeance, eaglescorch had written a few stories that are sadly no longer online, Nave the DM had written The Legend of the Wandering Pair of Vault 101. All amazing stories.
When I started writing New Wars are Fought by Old Warriors, I had struggled with the first chapter. I had completed the chapter and started completely over nine times until I finally wrote an intro that I believed was worthy of starting off this story. Nine times until I felt like it was good enough to be the start of the story. I almost wanted to quit. But thanks to both CyberJordan and eaglescorch, they gave me the motivation to keep going. When that first chapter was posted and I got some amazing reviews, I felt ecstatic. As the chapters continued to be posted, more and more of you guys continued to read. You have no idea how much it truly means to me that you all liked this story.
Of course, not everybody liked my story. There were many who voiced their opinions and reasons why, and that's ok. It really is. Not everyone is going to like a specific story. My story I'm surprised became a success. When I thought of this story, it seemed like a far-fetched idea, but I wanted to go through with it. I wanted to keep it as lore friendly as possible and then slowly break away the lore by adding a few things that we wouldn't see in the Fallout Universe. My idea of having the Pre-War US Military reborn into a new world came to me, because if factions like the Enclave, or the Brotherhood of steel can be brought to life from the embers of America's Pre-War government and military, then why not bring something similar in? Why not have another faction that had the same goal as the Enclave, but were willing to do it the right way.
I'm aware that this story kind of broke the lore, because with the Capital Brotherhood no longer in the story it breaks the story and lore of Fallout 4. You have to remember guys, I created this long before Fallout 4 was announced. But I do have plans for a Fallout 4 story once I'm finished with my New Vegas sequel.
Another thing I try to keep in my stories, is the sense of realism. Try to keep it as real as possible, even though its really damn hard to do that in the Fallout Universe XD. I like to add facts, stories behind things. When I say I welcome constructive criticism, I mean it. Because I like to see what ideas that you, the readers, have. It amazes me how much thought and input you have on others ideas, not for bad reasons, but because you see the potential I see in my story. The potential that others see in their stories. Your input goes a very long way with me guys. Your ideas help shape this story into what it can be. And believe it or not, a lot of suggestions you've given me for the story. I've added. FallenAngelAlexander, Paladin Bailey, FakeDaVinci, InfantryGrunt94, coastierks, many unnamed guests, you've added ideas that helped me progress into this story.
Some of you guys have been such great readers and reviewers, I decided to create characters in honor of them and added them to the story. Captain Jason Thompson, Captain Tim Wilder and others. My sequel will have introductions to OC characters that others have created, like Coastierks and Paladin Bailey. I cannot forget the man that helped me created the main antagonist for this story. Eaglescorch was the one that helped me create Drake Marshes. Without his suggestion, I wouldn't have made it far.
I owe the success of this story to all of you. To everyone that liked or followed it. To everyone that left a review, whether it was encouragement or constructive criticism. You are why I write. And for I thank you. All of you.
I want to give a special thanks to all of these authors and reviewers that have been there for me throughout this story.
CyberJordan, FakeDaVinci, Fallout2281, FallenAngelAlexander, Coastierks, InfantryGrunt94, eaglescorch, Paladin Bailey, InflatedChimp, J.S.F. Northern Command, Oddliver, TMDF-Artyom, alanranks7, boozenpuken333, falloutfan158, GuestDB, Gamerbox, Dragonbornwanderer, Texwolf117, Xypher1, TwinkieMain, DarkRank550, EclipsePhoenix, Exile037, Fernix13. And so many more of you guys. Thank you. You have been absolutely amazing.
Now, onto the topic of the New Vegas sequel. Battle for True Democracy. It is up and ready for you guys. There will be some alterations in the world of New Vegas. I understand that Obsidian couldn't make Freeside or Vegas bigger due to memory restrictions, but in my story, the settlements of Westside, Freeside, North Vegas, and New Vegas will be much bigger. More casinos, more buildings, suburbs. I'm doing so it actually feels like a big city, like D.C. We got to travel a lot of ground in D.C. but I felt like there wasn't enough to explore in Vegas or the surrounding areas, so I'm making it a little bigger.
There will be more modern, less lore friendly aspects in the story as well. More modern vehicles, weapons, clothing, music. Hey if we can have a fully automatic rocket launcher from the Divide or teleportation devices to Big Mountain, I think we can add a few things that breaks the rules. For most of it I will try to keep it lore friendly, or at least try to make it lore friendly. Some of it, yeah, I don't think I'll be able to, but its going in! This is FanFiction after all.
Another thing. The size of Factions. In Fallout 2, a holotape stated the NCR had over 750,000 people. Fast forward to 2281, I'm saying the NCR has at least a million people. Now I saw something that stated the Legion only have 120,000, which if it's true I don't see how they have control of everything from New Mexico to Arizona to Colorado to parts of Utah. We'll increase the size to eh I'll say 250,000. Make the Legion feel more like a threat. The populations in the Vegas area, we'll make it rougher anywhere between 5 to 10,000. It did survive the war and a lot of people have too.
This story will focus on an Independent Vegas and how the Courier will achieve that independence.
Alright… that about wraps it all up. I just wanted to get this out there to you guys, because I feel guilty for not doing so and keeping a lot of you out of the loop for a while. You don't have to leave a review for this. This is just me wanting to express my gratitude and tell you all that you guys are amazing and I love the hell out of all of you for it.
If you're a Dying Light fan, I have an AU/Continuation story that kicks off at the end of the game. It's not going to be a particularly long story. This is just a story that I've had on the back burner for years, but couldn't get around to it.
Once again thank you all. I can never say it enough.
NCRMC, signing off for now. I'll see you in New Vegas.
