Bonnie tried not to flinch as the door to her cell was flung open, she knew she failed when Mikael smirked at her, he enjoyed seeing her scared. For the last couple weeks, he enjoyed bursting in on her, knowing he was unnerving her. He would have killed her already, especially after she sent Kol away, but he said that he wanted his ungrateful son to watch as he took her life. He gave he a cot in a damp cell, only letting her out to improve his defensive magic, giving her scraps of food so she wouldn't die, but she was weakening quickly. She knew Caroline wouldn't let more harm come to her, and based on the way Klaus had shoved Caroline behind him, he would do anything for her. In order to live, Klaus has to die.

"That foolish bastard will charge here, to protect you."

Glaring at him, hatred burning within her, "You may think you know Klaus and your children, but you don't know Caroline or Kat or Stefan."

Circling slowly around her, like a shark who smelled blood in the water. "I may have been surprised when I realized that Fate had foolishly bound Niklaus to a Valkyrie. Even I grew up on stories of their feats. But she is just one, and I've taken precautions against Elijah's sorceress."

Bonnie couldn't help the bark of laughter, before she could play it off as a cough, Mikael bolted forward and held her by the throat. "What do I not know about her?"

Struggling, "She's more than that, she'll be your downfall."

"We'll see about that." Mikael tossed Bonnie across the room. Her magic saved her from a fatal collision at the last second.

Just like he arrived, Mikael was gone. Bonnie left muttering to herself, "Yes we will, we will see."

Klaus left Caroline alone for a couple minutes, and she had to mentally prepare herself for what she was about to do. She just couldn't let her friends die, and she had to rescue Bonnie. So, while Klaus and his brothers prepared for the upcoming battle, she slipped from the compound. Thank god, she'd managed to hold on to her ring, which allowed her to come and go as she pleased, if Klaus had been able to even guess at her intentions, she'd be stranded in the compound.

She couldn't say goodbye to anyone, but couldn't resist leaving a note for Klaus. He would be furious, but in the end, he'd live. Gods when had her life become so backwards?

She'd fallen hard for the King of the Hybrids, and there was no going back for her. Even if she went back to her coven, she'd long for him. If she stayed and fought with him against Mikael, one of her friends would die. So, she'd made the choice. If Mikael was so desperate for Klaus's head she'd offer him something better. His mate. She'd get his vow to spare Klaus and the others and release Bonnie, all in exchange for her. Sick, malicious bastard he was, she knew he'd take the deal, because it was guaranteed to cause Klaus untold pain for the rest of his immortal life. She knew that Elena was coming with the party and could hopefully persuade her back from death, and they could take down Mikael, his vow to the Lore preventing him and his vampires from fighting back. They could take him. They just needed the chance to get the upper hand. It was risky, but the risk was hers. Klaus would be pissed. Okay, more like enraged. But he could deal. This was her choice, and since he'd tried to take away her choices since the day she'd met him, she figured he owed her this one. Plus, she could spend the rest of her immortal life making it up to him.

Hopping delicately onto the St. Charles Streetcar, she put more distance between her and the compound, heading towards Mikael's mansion in the Garden District. She gazed unseeingly as the huge oak trees created a canopy over the famous street. There's a good chance I'll end up dead for real tonight. But it would be her choice. Stepping down from the streetcar, she wandered towards the ostentatious mansion that Mikael housed his army at. It said a lot about his reign that he barely stepped foot in the quarter, preferring to stay in the Garden District. Though the Garden District was beautiful, the Quarter was the beating heart of the city, to be removed from it, was to be removed from the soul of New Orleans.

She barely encroached on the front walkway before her path was blocked by two vampires. Both their pupils were blown, clearly compelled into Mikael's service, which meant there would be no bargaining with them. Swinging her sword, she beheaded them both in a single stroke, right before she killed them, she could have sworn there was relief in the vampires eyes.

It was probably horrific for them to be completely helpless against Mikael's orders, no matter how horrid. Only the royal family could compel species of Lore, while most vampires could only exert influence over the human population.

Stepping forward, her path was once again blocked by a pair of vampires, by the time she made it to the front door of the mansion, the walkway was littered with vampires bodies. Banging on the door, she shouted, "Mikael you son of a bitch, I've come to bargain!"

When the door swung open, a witch stood there in clear amazement, she radiated such power even Caroline could feel it, with short blonde hair and familiar hazel eyes, she looked so close to a female version of Klaus, she had to be related.

"Who are you?" Caroline whipped out, her jealousy drawing the worst conclusions.

But the witch's eyes were far away, reaching out, one hand on the bright blue pendant around her neck and the other to Caroline's cheek, she whispered, "Sister?"

Flinching back at her touch, she demanded again, "Who are you?"

The witch appeared to regain control, her eyes clearing, "I'm Freya, and you're Caroline."

"Freya? As in Freya Mikaelson?" Klaus had told her of the siblings he'd lost, Freya, his older sister, while they still lived in Norway to the plague, and his youngest brother Henrik, to the wolves in the New world. "How are you alive?"

Moving faster than even Caroline could follow, she grabbed Caroline's wrists turning them until they were face up. Her voice echoing, "You must leave Caroline, he won't let you live. You are too important to die here today."

Turning her hands over to grasp Freya's wrists, she tried to make the witch feel her stubbornness, "Freya, if you care even slightly for your siblings, you know I️ have to do this."

Releasing Freya, she made to move around her, but Freya caught her arm, and tears glistened in her eyes, "He told me they were dead."

Patting her shoulder awkwardly, "He lied. They think you died in Norway, over a thousand years ago."

Freya opened her mouth to speak, but Mikael's voice interrupted her, "Well, well, if it isn't the bastard's Whore."

Caroline tried to calm herself, but the insult to both her and Klaus, caused thunder to echo. Mikael smirked at her reaction, but gestured her forward towards the courtyard. Caroline didn't miss the Freya was close behind her, wordlessly lending her support. This family has the strangest dynamics.

The courtyard was everything she could expect of Mikael, rotting corpses of humans and vampires alike piled in the corner, and a Viking style throne, carved with intricate designs out of wood, was elevated at a dais in the center. Numerous compelled vampires, parted as Mikael strutted to his throne, Caroline followed behind him, not that she had much of a choice, the vampires closed ranks the second she passed, cutting off any chance of escape. She felt the sun sitting low in the sky, she had probably an hour before Klaus came looking for her, if that.

Finally, standing in front of his dais, Mikael sat heavily in his throne, clearly enjoying that she was at a disadvantage. Freya hadn't left her side. She's loyal to her siblings, but can we count on her turning on her own father?

Freya's accented voice, rung out in the silent courtyard, "Father how could you let me believe my siblings were dead? When I've searched for them and you for a thousand years?"

Mikael had no patience for accusations, and with a wave of his hand, his vampires grabbed Freya, clicking magical handcuffs around her wrists, similar to those that Kat had once wore, and dragged her from the courtyard. She screamed in protest, trying to remain by Caroline's side. But Caroline moved to face her, whispering, "I'll be fine."

Freya's screams still echoed as she was dragged away. Leaving Caroline to face Mikael alone. "Where is Bonnie?"

"I'll show you the little witch, when you tell me why you've come."

Breathing to gather her courage, "I've come to offer you a deal."

Mikael leaned back in his chair, interest at her proposition clear. "What could you possibly have to offer?"

"I️ have the opportunity to provide you with what you truly want. Klaus's unending torment, for the rest of his immortal life."

Both of Mikael's eyebrows rose, "And how would you provide this?"

She couldn't hesitate, "By killing his mate."

Mikael's mouth opened slightly in shock before regaining his composure. "What would you ask for in exchange for your life?"

"Your vow to the Lore to leave New Orleans and never return, to never harm Klaus or his siblings again, through your own hand or one of your minions, and the release of Bonnie."

Moving faster than she thought possible, he was in front of her with his hand lightly circling her throat. "What's to stop me from killing you now without the vow?"

Her eyes growing silver, "My aunts. When a Valkyrie dies, their loss is felt by every Valkyrie in the world. There would be no place you could hide from them, you're a Viking, Mikael, you know the danger they pose."

His eyes turning a maddening red, "And how would that be prevented by my vow?"

Trying to look unconcerned, that his hand was still wrapped around her throat, "When you make your vow, I️ make one of my own. Disowning my coven and removing myself from their hive. They wouldn't be alerted by my death, and would think I️ had dropped into some other realm outside their reach."

His grip tightened for a second, before releasing her, "I️ agree to your terms, on one condition," his eyes glowed with menace and madness, "I️ kill you in front of him."

That will scar him, can I️ really do this to him? Glancing at the numerous vampires in the courtyard, there is no other option. "Deal. I'll take Bonnie and your vow, now."

Mikael's cruel chuckle crawled over her skin, "You must hate him more than I️ do. I️ vow to the Lore to release Bonnie Bennett, leave New Orleans after I️ kill you, and as long as you are dead, no harm shall fall on my children and step-son by my hand or by my order."

A vow to the Lore was binding even for immortals, but Caroline didn't miss the caveat he'd placed in the Vow, no harm as long as she remained dead, she'd have to think of a way around that later. Nodding, she began her own vow, "I️ vow to the Lore, That I️ denounce my Valkyrie Coven, so that upon my death they will not feel my loss." Forgive me, Annika.

She felt the loss instantly, instead of being able to draw on her coven's strength, she felt lonely and empty, but also something more. The hair on the back of her neck stood on end, and the feeling of sureness, settled in her bones. Deep down she knew that it was supposed to happen like this, and something much bigger than Mikael was at play.

Grunting to one of the vampires surrounding them Mikael settled back into his chair, within a few moments, Bonnie's familiar curses rang through the mansion. The vampire was yanking her out of the mansion by the arm, "You better let go of me bloodsucker, or I️ will make you beg for death."

At least she hasn't lost her spirit. When the vampire kept dragging Bonnie towards the front door, Caroline protested, "I️ need to check her to make sure she's alright!"

Mikael smiled cruelly, "Why? So you can tell her of the bargain we've struck, so Klaus and his siblings will know I️ cannot lay a hand on them? I️ think not."

Jumping in an attempt to catch sight of Bonnie, Mikael grabbed her by the arm, moving from his throne. "I️ know Niklaus and his siblings would never have agreed to this suicidal plan of yours, so you didn't tell any of them before you left because they wouldn't have let you go. You think I️ would let you whisper in the witch's ear about it, and they would arrive and slaughter my forces, as they would be unable to raise a hand against them. No, foolish girl, the only way this deal works, is if they believe that I️ could strike them down in a moment."

Bonnie's shouts were abruptly cut off as the front doors slammed, the vampire returning to the gathering. Had they just unceremoniously tossed her outside? Caroline took solace in the fact that Bonnie was safe, and there was nothing more she could do for the moment. Mikael's punishing grip increased as he dragged her in the same direction of Freya, unceremoniously tossing her into what she guessed was Freya's room, closing the door before Freya could shout at him.

Freya's face was streaked with tears, and her wrists were still bound by chains. She was muttering to herself about revenge when Caroline was thrown in. Clearly a Mikaelson. Moving to Freya, she attempted to summon lightning into her palm, and melt her bonds, but her hand merely flickered before going out.

Sniffling loudly, Freya murmured, "There's a magic dampener on my room, Father told me it would help with my nightmares. I️ should have known he was creating a cell for me."

Moving to the surprisingly frilly bed, Caroline tried to get more information from Freya, she clearly lived here with Mikael but for how long, and what exactly did she know.

"Freya, how are you alive?"

Sniffling again, getting control of her tears she began to weave her story, "I️ never had the plague, our mother was barren, so in her desperation to have children, she made a horrible deal. She promised her first born, and the first born of each generation to the witch who made her fertile. When Finn was little, she came for me." Freya shivered involuntarily, reliving this was clearly traumatic. "Esther gave me up. For 900 years, I️ was a slave to her, and she fed on my misery, enjoying my torment. You see, she was more than a witch, she was the goddess Häxa, the Queen of False Faces. The great enemy to witches, she has made bargains throughout the centuries, Esther thwarted her by making a new race of vampires, who wouldn't be able to have children but with a single predestined mate, preventing her line from continuing. I️ wasn't free of her, until Mariketa the Awaited, killed Häxa and absorbed her powers, two years ago. Finally free, I️ wanted to find my family, I️ tried locator spell, after locator spell, and only my father came up, when his protection was momentarily weakened."

"So you came to New Orleans." Caroline finished for her. Freya nodded her head, and when she looked up to make eye contact with Caroline, her eyes were dry of tears and a burning hatred flickered in their depths. "And Mikael told you, all your siblings were dead."

"I️ will get my revenge on Mikael for this. He has done the same thing Häxa did to me. Kept me prisoner, his little witch slave." Standing up from the bed, she circled around the room. Her tears replaced by a glowing hatred in her eyes, definitely a Mikaelson.

Caroline watched her wearily, Freya was still a wild-card, despite her claims of revenge, she might not actually want her father dead. She could at least assure her that she would be meeting her siblings very soon. "Mikael gave Klaus an ultimatum, to arrive here by sundown, he and the rest of your siblings will be arriving in full force in less than an hour."

Freya reached out for Caroline's hand, pleading "Can you tell me about them?"

Chuckling awkwardly, Caroline struggled with the idea of counseling another lost Mikaelson sibling. She had more important things to worry about. "I️ will some other time Freya, now we only have so many moments before Mikael comes back, is there anything you can tell me that might help?"

Freya looked disappointed, but obliged her. "Mikael has forces stashed across the state, they've been arriving en masse, most are compelled. But there are older ones, who've been with Mikael for centuries that will still fight for him. I️ wish I️ could tell you more, but he was careful to keep me out of his strategy meetings. He told me that the Valkyries were coming to kill him, until you showed up on the doorstep with Niklaus's Mark I️ believed him."

Caroline self consciously rubbed her neck, Freya must be able to see the brand because of her blood tie to her siblings. "That's why you called me sister?"

Freya nodded morosely, "I️ knew who you were the instant I️ set eyes on you. My sister-by-Fate."

Caroline again placed her hand on her neck, where she knew Klaus's mark lay. "Why did you call me important? Everyone always calls me that, but no one has ever told me why."

Freya looked shocked at her ignorance, "I️ have no idea, to be honest. When I️ look at you, you radiate a bright, almost blinding light, I'm pretty sure that means that you're important to the grand scheme of things."

Sighing in disappointment, another vague prediction about her future, gods forbid she got straight answers from anyone. Settling down at a desk in the corner, she obliged Freya's original request to learn more about her siblings, she wished she could say it was a completely pure intention, but she wanted to make sure Freya was going to side with them when the fighting started. "Rebekah, is stalwart, she values nothing more than her brothers, but she's also petty and selfish. For the last thousand years, she's been the only female valued by her brothers. She has a temper, which I think is why Fate matched her to Stefan Salvatore. He's a former ripper, with problems of his own, but he's strongest when he has someone else to focus on. With Rebekah, he's her calming force and she's his control, his anchor."

Freya's eyes were misty, "I've missed so much these years."

Caroline put her arm around Freya, patting her awkwardly, "They've missed you too. Now Kol, foolish charmer that he is, he's a self-centered prankster. He had reputation in the Lore of being the Lothario of your family, but he was equally as dangerous. His Bride is Bonnie Bennett, the last of the Bennett line, and a witch. Kol's changed greatly in the short time he's been with Bonnie, wanting to be better for her. She won't stand for his past behavior, so he's becoming what he was before being jaded by the last 1000 years, a good man."

Running feet outside Freya's door made Caroline leap up, but the feet soon passed and faded. Moving to the window, Caroline saw the sun approaching the horizon, they're time was growing short."Elijah, your most moral brother, rightful King of the Vampires, straight-laced and frigid has been mated to Katerina Petrova, Queen of Illusions. Katerina is fire, where Elijah is ice, and together, they'll do great things. That is if Elijah can hold on to her, Katerina's slippery and Elijah should use more caution."

"Finn used to talk about you a lot you know. He's the only one with memories of you. He used to talk about you making little light shows to help him fall asleep when your father was away on his Viking quests. Of all your brothers he craves peace and quiet the most, Sage pushed him to enjoy life a little bit more."

Freya's eyes sparkled with merriment, "And Niklaus…"

The sun slowly descended out the window, and Freya finished Caroline's sentence, "Is here."

With Freya's ominous prediction, the clang of weapons and shouts of battle began to echo in the halls. Two harried vampires burst through the door, grabbing Caroline and Freya dragging them back to the throne room. Mikael called a ceasefire the second she entered, once Klaus caught sight of her, he did the same. The vampire deposited Caroline on her knees in front of Mikael, the other clinking Freya's chains to the ground.

Caroline couldn't help looking to Klaus, he was so pale, clearly out of his mind with concern for her. But she didn't miss the rage in his eyes at her actions, he'd clearly gotten her note. Mikael spoke first, "Looks like I once again have the upper hand, boy. Your mate on her knees." He drew his sword out, placing it gently to her neck.

Klaus immediately dropped his sword, and before his entire family fell to his knees, "Take me instead."

His siblings gaped, but Mikael enjoyed that Klaus clearly had come to care for her. Caroline looked for Kat among the crowd, projecting He has vowed to the Lore that he will not harm any of you, once I'm dead. That he will leave New Orleans and never return. Don't let Klaus do anything foolish, and make sure Elena brings me back.

Kat nodded her head solemnly, glancing at Elena, no doubt communicating through their own telepathy. Mikael continued, he had clearly taken for granted Kat and Elena, something Caroline had been counting on. Old school that he was he must still believe that a woman would be no match for him. "Why would I take you boy, when I can enjoy the misery that will be yours when you realize your mate is dead? Any hope of future happiness gone forever."

Freya rustled against her chains, "Father, if you kill her, you can count on yet another one of your children, hunting you to the ends of the earth."

For the first time, the Mikaelson siblings took their eyes off their father. Finn was the only one who recognized the girl Freya was when she was young, "Freya?" His voice was younger than it had probably ever been, he missed his older sister like a limb.

The revelation of Freya, was quickly overshadowed by Mikael, as he pulled back his arm to strike, "I'll enjoy hanging your mate's head above Helvita's gates."

Caroline's eyes widened with realization, he knew that she was planning on Elena bringing her back to life. Struggling against the hold of the vampire, she managed to throw him off and come to a stand. When she tried to jump off the dais, Mikael's hand reached out like a vise, breaking her arm, she screamed in pain. Klaus roared, and he began to hack through the vampires that stood between him and Caroline. Never come between a werewolf and their mate.

But he was still too far when Mikael swung his sword, she closed her eyes before the blow landed, she heard the swish of the blade, but never felt it land. When she opened her eyes, Mikael was stumbling back from her, only a hilt left in his hand. Glancing down at herself, holding her hand up, she saw the lighting playing over her skin. Like shimmering silver, the powerful energy danced an inch above her skin. Forming a protective boundary around her, it must have melted Mikael's sword before it could land a blow. Her entire body was protected by lightning, her shocked eyes made contact with Klaus, who was equally as stunned. Valkyries could control lightning but never to this extent, and none could form a barrier like she just had. Was this what Nïx had meant?

Her arm healed, she reached out to touch the vampire standing near her, the second her hand came down, nothing was left but dust. He didn't even have time to scream. Reaching for Freya's chains, they deteriorated at her touch. Free, Freya glared at her father, throwing her hands up, she imprisoned him with her magic, preventing him from escaping. Mikael Had never protected himself against her magic. Caroline felt her eyes change, but instead of the flood of emotion that she usually felt when her eyes turned molten silver, it was a rush of heavy power as she set her eyes on Mikael. Her approach was deadly, her movements like a predator, "You should have known better Mikael. Foolishly, you underestimated me. I'm the light that blinds the world. More than a Valkyrie, and more importantly your doom."

Slamming both hands down on his shoulders, Mikael turned to dust before their eyes. When the last particle fell, all hell broke loose. The vampires had been compelled to kill everyone if Mikael fell and they began to attack her friends she turned, whipping around towards them, she noticed that her hair was no longer blonde, but pale white, what the hell was she? The power built up in her and she knew she was loosing control, she just managed to scream to her friends. "If you want to live shut your eyes! Freya, protect them and shut your eyes!"

Freya ran to stand next to her siblings, throwing her arms up, instantly forming a mystical barrier around her siblings and their allies. Davina, and Bonnie, both came up behind her placing a hand on Freya's shoulders lending their strength to her to project the shield. The witches loyal to the Mikaelsons joined hands to channel their power as well. Klaus threw his fists against the shield, still desperate to get to Caroline. But Freya's shield stopped him from moving forward. Vampires were scrambling, afraid of the light building inside of her. Klaus roared, pounding against the shield. Caroline made eye contact with Klaus as the light began to blind, "I'm sorry."

Then like an atomic bomb, she exploded, pure white light originating from her destroying the remaining vampires, including the mansion around her. As Caroline screamed, everything was gone, only dust remaining.

Klaus slammed his eyes shut at the last possible moment, not wanting to take his eyes off Caroline. He felt the heat that came from the blast even through Freya's shield. When the heat let off, he carefully opened his eyes. There was nothing left. Only dust of the vampire army that had stood before them, the walls of the mansion were gone, leaving piles of more dust, but he only had eyes for the place where Caroline had stood a moment ago. When Freya's shield fell, Klaus sped to the last spot she had stood. Only the smallest pile of glittering white dust remained. The warm dust fell through his hands as he fell to his knees before it, there was nothing left of her. She couldn't be gone. He couldn't be alone again, to have experienced the heaven of her, only to have it taken away?

Whipping around, he leapt up, grabbing Elena by the shoulders, "You can undo this can't you?" He was starting to loose control, "Bring her back! Persuade her!"

Elena yelped at Klaus's grip, only releasing her when Katerina came up from behind and punted his knee.

Elena looked at the pile of glittering dust, "My powers don't work like that! I need a body! Something to hear my command! Something more than dust!"

Klaus was starting to devolve, grabbing Bonnie next, "Please tell me there is something you can do to fix this witch! She did this to save you! You owe her!"

Bonnie's tears were flowing, she was devastated by what had just happened, throwing Klaus back with her magic. She sobbed, "Do you think you had a monopoly on loving Caroline? Everyone here would do anything to bring her back! We just can't!"

Klaus's eyes were frantic and he felt his beast rising to the surface, he wanted the numbness so he let the wolf rise, shifting into a wolf seamlessly. There was a reason most werewolves found a way to die after losing a mate, they lost control of their beast, finding solace in the mindless rage that came from their wolf. Standing over the remains of his mate, he howled in pain. With one last glance at his siblings, Klaus disappeared.
