During the winter months, Alois decided to host a Costume Ball. He invited many high ranking people, including Ciel. It hurt, but I could tell he was doing it for his own personal reasons. He was dead set on this ball idea. Made us all choose a costume. Minus the men. So just Hannah and myself. I felt he did that only to amuse himself. Bloody prick.
It was the day of the ball and I was upstairs assisting Alois getting ready. He couldn't decide what to wear. He wanted to go as a woman, all apart of his scheme to get Ciel all alone. He wanted Ciel Phantomhive all to himself, and for Sebastian to suffer. So I suppose it was a good thing he didn't know about Sebastian and I's past relationship. It was over now. I knew that much. Even if Sebastian had no clue about me being the one who personally stole Ciel's soul from him, he knew I had some part in it and hated me. I learned that from our last encounter.
"What should you wear Avril? I wonder...Princess? Oooo Yes! I know exactly how to make you look!"the boy said as he ran into his closet.
"My lord I assure you there is no need to-"I started to protest but then he came back out with a lovely white gown.
"Strip Avril! I need to see if this will fit you!"the boy ordered.
I obliged and striped away my maid outfit. The boy pulled the dress over my head and over my corset.
"Ooo you look lovely. Avril, you always wear your hair pinned back. Here,"The boy said, impressed with his judgement.
He sat me down on the bed and found his brush for his pigtail wig. He pulled the pins and tie out of my hair. I felt it fall down to my sholder blades. My hair grew quickly, so even if my master cut it short again, it would be grown out again.
The dress was a flowing white. It was almost like a white rose, with sparkles on it to look like morning dew. It went down to my ankles and the sleeves went over my shoulders, hanging down, but tight enough to hold the dress up. It was a little loose in the chest area, but I didn't mind.
I felt Alois brush through my hair softly, gingerly even.
"You have lovely hair Miss. Avril. And you look even lovelier with it down. It truly compliments you. Now for a tiara and...hmm...A mask? Yes! That'll do it! A mask. But I want everyone to see you're lovely blue eyes. I envy that color blue. Both you and Ciel have it. Do you miss him?"Alois asked.
I looked at him in surprise. He hadn't brought up Ciel and I's relationship since the night Sebastian came to retrieve Ciel's soul.
"Umm...Sometime's yes. I'm afraid I do. But I am here to serve you lord Trancy. That is all. I appreciate all the trouble you are going to, just to get me a costume sir,"I said kindly.
"No trouble really,"the boy said as he lept down from the bed.
He darted to another room and came back with a box.
"This was mother's best piece of jewelry. It's quiet pretty and it would look lovely on you,"Alois said, walking up to me.
He opened the box and inside was a crown like circlet. It was silver about the base and had a gold point to it, with a sapphire in the center. It was quite lovely.
"My lord are you sure about this?"I asked, shocked he would even let a servant like me look at an item like that.
Alois place the circlet upon my head and it fit perfectly.
"Hush now. It's fine. Now here's your mask. You don't have to hold it up all night. But I expect when we have to smile and make a good impression, you should wear it. I want to see how many perverts with squabble for your attention. Now to get Hannah!"Alois said, as he leapt up and ran for the door," Hannah!"
He shouted and I watched as he sat down on the bed. I held the mask in my hand. It was a handle mask, one where you had to hold the stick to keep the mask on your face. I preferred this one though. Easier if I need to fight, and I'm positive that there will be a fight. Hannah came into the room.
"Bring me costumes to wear tonight. I don't want Avril to move and ruin her dress at all. Otherwise I will have to punish her. Now go,"Alois order.
Hannah left and came back with a vast amount of costumes. All lovely. Some women clothing, some men clothing. He frowned as he looked at them all.
"That's shit. And so is that. This one too. And this!"the boy said angrily as he threw a bunch of costumes onto the ground.
He picked up a crown and looked at it disapprovingly.
"You've got to be joking!"Alois shouted as he threw the crown at Hannah's head.
She let the impact hit and winced. She touched to spot where it hit and let it bleed.
Claude came into the room. Alois immediately became serious.
"Is he here?"he asked, referring to Ciel.
"Lord Phantomhive has arrived," Claude said, emptily.
"I was choosing a costume. You should do the same. Perhaps this one,"Alois said, placing a gown on Claude's shoulder," Ole!"
Alois frowned at Claude's blank reaction. My master rarely showed emotion around the boy. Odd though, even for him.
"All of these costumes are bloody useless! Now strip Hannah!"the boy ordered.
Hannah obliged to this order and striped down to nothing but a bottom slip. She was extremely busty. I blushed lightly, out of embarrassment. I was rather small. I barely had a chest at all. Slight insecurity about myself, but then again, Hannah wasn't being used as a whore by men. Which made me wonder why that was, but I shook the thought off and looked down at my mask again. It had a white background with silver and black floral designs around it. It would definitely compliment my blue eyes wonderfully.
Meanwhile, Hannah put on her costume and Alois put on his wig and Hannah's maid outfit. We went down to the party. I saw Ciel was dressed as a pirate, the servants were disguised as some creatures from some lore, Lau and his pet were in a Chinese costume, the Indian Prince and his butler were dressed as Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. Lizzy was dressed as an Indian Princess and her maid was dressed as an Egyptian princess, I believe. I walked away from the party, sensing Sebastian elsewhere and snooping around. I left and found Sebastian peaking around in my room of all places.
"What on Earth do you think you are doing here, Sebastian Michaelis? Shouldn't you be with your master?"I asked, my voice hollow and cold.
I felt myself shift. It hurt to act in such a manner to Sebastian, but it was easier to empty myself and be the cold maid I am. I forced back any and all emotion and memories. Nothing was going to get me into trouble. I refused anymore. He wasn't worth it. Love wasn't worth it anymore.
Sebastian smiled and turned to me.
"This is an immaculate room. Everything is perfect. From the neatness of the bed clothes, to the placement of the artwork. I can tell how much care you took to properly prepare it. I find it most...educational. Since when did you become such a neat person Avril?"
"I am pleased to be of help. I must make everything, even my personal space, to the best of standards. I am obligated to do so as a Trancy maid. Though I find your willingness to stoop to petty thievery to service your master even more impressive," I told him, emotionless and cold.
"You flatter me, Avril. It has been a long time hasn't it? So kind of you to notice. Avril..."Sebastian said, walking up to my ear," I will not let you have my young master. Tell that to Claude for me? If you're not too busy screwing your master or kissing Lord Trancy's arse that is,"
I i took a sharp breath and felt some emotion attempt to slip through the cracks. I shoved him away and glared at him.
"I'll deliver the message. Although I don't know. Seeing you struggle to get your master back made my laugh. You were so pathetic. And the temper tantrum you threw on the island? Hysterical. I suppose you are used to losing toys to your brother but honestly, aren't you a little old to be throwing a tantrum?"i said, faking amusement.
He snarled and leaned in close to me.
"You betrayed me Avril. For that you will pay. Even if you aren't worth it, being the harlot you are, but it will still be fun to watch you bleeding to death in agony and pain, watching everything you once held dear slip right from your hand. Even a chance at freedom. So go please the party guest and do what you do best, smile and please. Just leave my master out of it," He said, harsh.
I felt my heart twist into a knot and kicked him in the shin.
"Fine. So be it. But I won't go down without a fight," I said then stepped aside for Sebastian to leave first," Ladies first?"
I looked at him empty and felt my demonic eyes burn. He glared and walked out.
I sighed and looked down. I felt all the memories I fought so hard, for so long, to lock up and keep away from my reach, slowly come back and I felt worse than getting stabbed through the heart. I fought back tears, not wanting to ruin my makeup that Hannah put on me before the ball. We had a show to put on and I couldn't spoil my appearance.
'Tonight will be a show unlike any other. Ciel and Sebastian better prepare themselves. It was to be an evening, worthy of the Trancy standards.'
