Reed decides to be a troll. Heiji is not amused. Really.

Set several heists after "Senshi, Kage."

Heiji sighed and dropped his bag onto the floor. He loved Kazuha, really he did, but jeez, could that woman yell! He didn't know what he had done this time, but it had sure set her off. Suffice to say, it had been a looong day at school.

The detective was all set to flop on his bed and ignore his homework for a while, but an envelope placed carefully atop the pillow caught his attention. He picked it up before settling cross-legged on top of the sheets. No address, no postmark. Just a plain white envelope. It wasn't even sealed. Heiji shrugged and opened it.

The first thing that fell out was a small white object, followed by a folded sheet of paper. Heiji picked up the object first - it was a card, not unlike a credit card, but thicker and completely blank.

". . . The heck?" the detective muttered. Frowning, he turned to the paper. As he read, he was caught somewhere between amusement and annoyance.

Senshi-kun,

First off, I've had a great time on our recent playdates. You almost had me last time. Impressive! As always, I'm looking forward to our next battle.

You're probably wondering about the card - I assure you, it's not as blank as it appears. Consider it a "thank you" from me for making my job so much more interesting. As for what it does . . . well, I'll let you figure that out.

Good luck, Meitantei. See you at the next heist.~

-Kage

"Idiot thief, sneakin' into my room." Heiji rolled his eyes. "I'll 'see ya at the next heist' - see ya right inta a prison cell." He tossed the letter aside and picked up the card again. Running his fingers carefully across its surface revealed a series of shallow grooves, along with a small indent. So, a sliding puzzle. Heiji grinned and started working.

It took a while, but eventually there was a soft click accompanied by a shift in the puzzle. Heiji grinned triumphantly and slid the entire piece to the side, revealing another surface beneath. As the thief had suggested, this section was far from blank.

Issued to one Hattori Heiji by the Kaitou Kid

& Seconded by Kaitou Reed

Unitus In Pernicie

Heiji stared down at the card. Blinked. Stared some more, then took a deep breath. "What the hell?"

Seriously, what was wrong with those two? Kid and - he could only assume Reed was Kage - were they both insane? He was a detective! How, by any possible interpretation, was he in the same category as the freakin' Kaitou Kid? It was beyond insulting!

Although, the little drawing of his hat was kind of funny . . . .

Heiji groaned and collapsed backward. No way was he missing the next Kid heist, even if he had to room with Hakuba.

He and 'Kage-kun' needed to talk.
