Disclaimer: CW/DC own these characters. I'm only borrowing them for a while. I own the original ideas found in this.
AN: Well, this is it. The epilogue. I hope it is somewhat satisfactory (I know you may want more, or a sequel). I am proud of this story for tackling on a traumatic subject but showing how a person could survive it. And of course having my most favorite villain, Slade, be in it.
In this chapter a pedophile is briefly mentioned. If that is a trigger, I placed (***) at the beginning and ending of the section.
Thank you again for joining me on this journey and hope you will return to read some of my other stories.
After their official first date, their relationship - or as Thea called it, 'Olicity' – took off. As their friends and family thought it would. In some ways, though, it was an old-fashioned courtship. Felicity was still not ready to consummate their relationship, but Oliver, for once in his life, was patient and understanding. However, he was less so regarding the Mirakuru still being in her system.
Felicity had at first kept the Mirakuru despite Oliver's objections, as well as learning different forms of combat. She became quite adept at fighting, to her own surprise, and was able to put them into practice the first year of their relationship. Oliver kept the peace by reminding himself she still needed something to give her a sense of control as she continued to heal. Watching her train with Diggle occasionally made him start to smile, which he was able to hide from both of his teammates each time. The reason for his smile? Watching her attempt to act threatening was almost like watching a Chihuahua take on a St. Bernard. Of course he'd never tell either of them that. Despite how it sounded, Oliver meant no disrespect. He was so totally in love with her now, he couldn't deny having "heart-eyes" as Thea was prone to tell him. Quite often.
Oliver found it ironic the love of his life was more threatening whenever she used her loud voice versus when she was sparring. And the addition of the Mirakuru did nothing to change that opinion. Until one day when Felicity almost killed a criminal with her bare hands.
Possible trigger warning:
They were attempting to catch a pedophile. Even though she spent much of her time in the field with Oliver, Felicity continued to be responsible for electronically tracking down the criminals. This particular pedophile was proving especially difficult for her to track, which Felicity took especially hard. When they finally believed they had discovered his hiding place, Oliver, Felicity, and Diggle went out, leaving Sara at the comms.
Oliver and Felicity took the front door, while Diggle went in through the back door. Oliver indicated he'd search the back of the house while Felicity took the front. Felicity went through a living room and approached a closed door down a hallway. Upon reaching it, Felicity heard a child's cries. She opened a bedroom door and found the man in question pinning a screaming, struggling five-year-old to a bed.
Felicity heard a buzzing in her head and a film formed across her field of vision. She pulled the man off the bed and began to beat him mercilessly. When he arrived after hearing the noises of an altercation, Oliver was shocked to find the criminal almost unconscious, his face bloody and one of his eyes swollen shut. He pulled Felicity from the man before she could deliver what could've been a killing punch.
"Overwatch! What do you think you're doing?"
Oliver watched in shock as he watched her eyes slowly regain focus and looked at him with clarity. She looked at him, puzzled, then turned to take in the sight of the man broken and bloodied on the floor. A gasp escaped her and she covered her mouth, trying not to gag.
"Oh my, Ol – I mean, Arrow, I…I didn't mean to do that. I think I didn't. I mean, I was so disgusted by this piece of garbage and we arrive to find him trying, trying to…"
Oliver took her in his arms as she began to sob. Diggle arrived and took in the scene. He nodded to Oliver as he turned back out of the room and pulled out his mission cell phone to call for an ambulance. Oliver gently led Felicity out of the room and out the front door, where he simply held her until Dig joined them with the small child.
"I also called Lance. I found about ten children locked up in the basement as well. He's arriving with reinforcements."
As Oliver made sure Felicity was securely in the passenger seat, they heard sirens approaching. Diggle got in the driver's seat of the van and took off for the foundry. Oliver stayed behind, hiding in the bushes, to ensure the perpetrator was still alive as he was bundled into the ambulance.
(end of possible trigger)
When he reached the foundry, Oliver found his love sitting in her favorite chair behind her computers, staring into space. She met his eyes with a sadness in them he had never wanted to see.
"Oliver, I've been thinking. I…I think I better take the cure."
Oliver shook his head. "Maybe you shouldn't make a decision tonight. Like you've argued, you've been handling it without side effects, and it has helped you heal."
Felicity stood up and placed her hands on his shoulders. "You've been extremely patient with me, both regarding having the mirakuru and waiting for sex. I appreciate both, but I think I'm ready to give up the Mirakuru."
Oliver continued to have his doubts, which Felicity could sense. Before he could reply, she continued, "I almost killed a man tonight with my own fists, Oliver." She shrugged. "I never thought I'd be able to do that. I lost it back there. I don't ever want to do that again." She looked off in the distance and said, "I know it was the Mirakuru which made me so angry, and it also made me able to beat that guy bloody" She looked at Oliver. "Even though he deserved it, I don't ever want to do that again."
Oliver nodded. "As long as you're sure. You know my feelings about it, my worries about it in your system as well as whether you need it anymore." He took her hand in his. "As long as you're sure." Felicity nodded. "Do you want to wait until tomorrow, or –"
Felicity shook her head vehemently. "Give me the cure now before I change my mind. I know it's for the best." Oliver was about to walk away from her but Felicity grabbed his arm. "As long as I can continue to go out into the field sometimes with you."
Oliver gave her a huge smile. "You've proven yourself in the field, Felicity, and I don't want you to lose any of those terrific fighting skills you've developed. I'm so proud of you."
Felicity leaned in to give him a kiss and they walked over to the med bay arm in arm.

Their relationship continued to have its ups and downs, and not just in the field. But both of them grew and the relationship grew strong. Until Oliver surprised her one night with a return to the restaurant where they had their first date.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary otherwise. They had a nice dinner, with a relaxed but ordinary discussion. When Oliver suggested a walk outside in the moonlight, she agreed. Nothing better than strolling arm and arm in the moonlight with the man she loved. However, while lost in the scenery and the company, she barely noticed Oliver leading her around the back of the restaurant where the little pond was. Suddenly she stopped in amazement.
The pathway to the pond, as well as the pond itself, was outlined in lit candles. Oliver led her along the path, then stopped and turned her towards him.
"Felicity, from the moment we met, I knew you were the one for me, if you'd have me. I tried and tried to deny it, but I couldn't. Despite my darkness, you've stood by me in good times and bad, even when they were the darkest. You're the one who lights my way, who gives me hope for a better life."
Without giving her any chance to guess, Oliver stepped in front of her and holding her hand, knelt and drew out a ring box.
"Ms. Felicity Megan Smoak, would you do me the greatest honor and make me the happiest man on the face of the earth and marry me?"
Felicity looked around at all he had prepared, reflecting on how he'd grown from an irresponsible playboy to a brooding vigilante with only one goal, to the mature and loving man standing in front of her, and answered him.
"Yes, of course, Oliver, I will!"
She flew into his arms, almost knocking him backward and began kissing him. Then she heard applause and turned to see their closest friends and family gathered along the edge of the path, watching them and cheering. Thea was jumping up and down, Moira was smiling broadly, and her mother?
Before she could prepare Oliver, Donna almost knocked them both down with her embrace. "Congratulations, baby girl!"
The party lasted until almost dawn. The group had moved inside after a while, to enjoy appetizers, drink and the company. Knowing his family and friends well, Oliver had worked it out with the restaurant staff to rent out their party room downstairs for as long as they wanted. It cost possibly too much, but Oliver figured they all deserved a chance to party and enjoy each other. Especially his beautiful fiance. Wow, he couldn't believe Felicity Smoak was now his fiance. It had been a rough journey, for each of them separately as well as them as a couple. But as he looked into her bright, shining eyes holding the look he knew she held only for him, Oliver couldn't be happier.
AN: Well, that's it. I apologize one last time for the length of time this journey took (almost as long as Olicity on the show…just kidding). Can you believe what happened in the latest episode (7 x 13)? Yay! I'm not saying anything else because I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't heard about it.
I hate to admit it but it has taken me two years to finish this story. Sigh. RL dealt and keeps dealing me difficult blows, but life continues to go on. Back two years ago, we weren't sure Olicity was ever going to stick (well, at least I wasn't sure). And now, look at what we got! I never would've guessed it in season 2, even with the supposedly fake ILU.
I heartily thank all of you readers for reading and appreciating this story, for the follows and kudos, for the reviews and suggestions. It really all means a lot. It does. Thank you for enjoying a return to one of my most favorite seasons and villains. Hopefully, if you hadn't had an opportunity, check out some of my other stories. Also, stay tuned for what I next come up with. Bye for now!
