The Bond of Family

"How do you feel?" Damon was asking Jade the next morning. She had accepted her father's offer to turn into a hybrid, but took off quickly after that. After all, giving her what she wanted didn't change the fact that he abandoned her like so many before.

"Awesome," Jade smiled genuinely; Damon smiled back. "Seriously, I've never felt this great before." She kissed him once. "I love you so much."

"I love you too," he smiled, leaning over to kiss her. Their kiss deepened, until her phone ringing on her night stand interrupted them.

"Ignore it," Damon begged. Jade half listened to him, seeing who it was before hitting ignore. "Daddy dearest?"

"Mhmm," Jade nodded, replacing her phone. "Looks like the second call this morning." Damon made a face. "What?" she laughed.

"I never pictured the original hybrid being so..." He struggled for the word. "Needy." Jade snorted, biting her lip to keep from laughing.

"No more dad talk," Jade said, going to kiss him again.

"Hey!" Vicki said, bursting through the door. "WHOA!"

"Vicki!" Jade complained.

"Seriously?" Damon asked her in annoyance.

"When's the truck coming?" Vicki asked, unphased. After transitioning, Jade made the late night family decision to move to the Salvatore house. Vicki was well on board to get out of the house and move some place nicer; Matt was naturally hesitant. He loved his sisters, but he didn't want their life. With Kelly still in town and taking quite the maternal turn, Matt opted to live with her for his senior year.

"Are you serious right now?" Jade asked her.

"You want out of this place just as much as I do," Vicki reminded her; Jade's phone started ringing again.

"Want me to?" Vicki asked, coming in anyway and taking the phone.

"That's your sister," Damon rolled his eyes at Jade.

"She's your bestie," Jade smirked back. "Anyway, as long as I don't have to talk to him," she muttered.

"Hey step..." Vicki started, then trailed off. "Half..." She paused. "I guess you're not really anything to me, are you Klaus?"

"Vicki," Klaus sighed heavily. "Is your sister there?"

"Yep," Vicki nodded.

"...can I talk to her then?" he asked as though it were obvious.

"If I'm answering her phone, what do you think?" she asked, smirking a little with satisfaction.

"It's important that I talk to her," Klaus said, both Jade and Damon able to hear.

"Here," Jade sighed, taking the phone from her sister. Vicki and Damon exchanged a confused glance since she had been so against speaking to him in the first place.

"Jade-"

"What?" she asked immediately; Klaus was quiet for a moment.

"How are you?" he asked first.

"Fine," Jade said. "Great, actually."

"I'm glad to hear it," Klaus smiled. "What are you up to tonight?"

"Why?" she asked, annoyed.

"I would like it if you and Damon came over for dinner tonight with your aunt and I," he explained. "Vicki and Matt are welcome as well." Jade noticed Damon and Vicki both shaking their heads like crazy.

"No way," Jade protested; her sister gave her a thumbs up.

"It would mean a lot to me Jade," Klaus told her. "I know that I've wronged you and I would like to make that up to you. I want us all to be able to move past this."

"Yeah, ok, fine," Jade shifted suddenly, giving in.

"Seriously?" Damon half whispered.

"Are you hammered?" Vicki asked; now Damon was shaking his head at her.

"We'll see you at seven," Jade said before quickly hanging up.

"What was that?" Vicki asked.

"Hey," Damon tossed a pillow at her.

"I'm serious," Vicki said, throwing it back. "You're so pissed off at this guy, and rightfully so, and now you're-"

"I have an idea," Jade stopped her.

Damon continued to insist on the way to dinner that Jade had no idea what she was getting into, especially after she changed her mind so quickly about seeing her dad. She told him to trust her though and that she had a plan, disappearing briefly to use the rest room during dinner. The four of them sat around the table, Rebekah, Jade, Klaus, and Damon, making polite small talk. Damon thought it was nice that Jade at least got to meet her aunt, though he still wasn't sure what they were doing there.

"Are you going to be staying in Mystic Falls then, Rebekah?" Jade was asking her.

"I hope, for awhile," Rebekah said, casting a glance at Klaus. Jade was realizing that Rebekah and Elijah were a lot alike, no matter how angry they were or how awful Klaus was towards them, they still stuck around and followed him wherever; thinking about how she came to dinner after she pretty much told Damon she hated him, maybe she was starting to understand that.

"Well, that's the good news I was mentioning," Klaus told his sister now. He was holding this good news over her all day, saying they needed to have dinner first so he could tell her and Jade together. "Now that all threats to our family have been handled-"

"Threats?" Damon questioned. He figured that over a thousand years the originals had racked up quite the list of enemies, but hearing that he wasn't sure how much he wanted Jade to be a part of this family. Even if she had no active part in it though, knowing she was Klaus's daughter would be enough for anyone to go after her.

"He means our parents," Rebekah said, sipping her wine.

"Did you kill your parents?" Damon asked him.

"Can I get some of that?" Jade was saying quietly to Rebekah, but her aunt sadly shook her head.

"My mother twice," Klaus said, recalling how a few decades ago his mother returned, attempting to kill him and Elijah but she was taken care of again. Within the last year his father had come for him again, this time Klaus getting the upper hand and killing him for good.

"But Mikael..." Rebekah started off and the look Klaus gave her told her that he was gone. Damon gave a look to Jade, seeming to ask if she was hearing this.

"Remember when I killed Matt and Vicki's dad a few months ago?" Jade reminded Damon, snatching his wine glass and downing it. "Probably shouldn't throw stones in a glass house."

"Your step father?" Rebekah asked Jade who nodded; she smirked at her brother. "Well, it's a shame you made her so angry. You two seem to have a lot in common."

"I'm hoping to start making that up to her," Klaus said, looking to his daughter.

"Mmmm," Jade nodded, knowing they were going to get past the polite talk and get to this park of the night soon enough. "Well, you're going to have to not ditch me, for starters."

"I won't," Klaus assured her.

"Do you realize how sad it is that that's a promise you have to make?" Damon cut in now. "And, since you're so good at keeping them. Like your promise to your brother?" he questioned.

"Waking the rest of our siblings is something that we need to discuss tonight," Klaus was telling them now.

"Then, I can assume it wasn't you that pulled the dagger out of my heart?" Elijah was saying from the doorway.

"Elijah?" Klaus said in surprise, then turned to look at his sister.

"I didn't!" Rebekah adamantly protested, knowing how furious her brother would be if she tried something like that.

"Then..." Klaus started off. "Kol," he said with equal shock to see that his younger brother was back. Before Klaus could react he felt himself being knocked from his seat. Getting up, he saw that it was his oldest brother Finn who had sped over and struck him. "How is this possible?" Klaus asked, his brothers all aligned together next to the table as he was getting up. He noticed Jade now, pushing herself away from the table.

"Jade?" Elijah asked her.

"I'm sure the five of you have a ton to talk about," Jade was saying, grabbing her jacket off the back of her seat. "So we're just gonna..." Damon realized what she had done and was prepared to run out of there with her if necessary.

"Who the hell is she?" Kol was asking.

"Our niece," Elijah informed Kol and Finn who seemed surprised to say the least.

"Our brilliant niece," Rebekah grinned, hugging Jade. It was perfect. Klaus, adoring Jade and wanting to be part of her life, would never hurt her. She was the perfect candidate to do something like this.

"Good luck dad," Jade smiled sweetly before Damon took her hand and sped out the door with her, slowing down once they were far enough away from the house.

"That was your plan?" Damon asked; Jade nodded with a smile, impressed with herself. "You're crazy," he accused her, though he laughed.

"You're the one that loves me," Jade smiled, kissing him now.

A few days passed.

Jade didn't hear much from her dad, and she understood if he was initially angry with her. She knew what she did was the right thing though and she wasn't going to be sorry for it. That morning, with Stefan at school and Vicki at work, Damon and Jade had the place to themselves, sleeping in. Hearing a knock at the front door, they both groaned.

"Not it," Jade said sleepily.

"Just ignore it," Damon said, though the knocking continued.

"They're not going away," Jade complained, pulling the blankets over her head. Realizing she was right, Damon got up and went downstairs to answer the door, with Jade settling back into bed, content.

"Jade!" Damon called and she cringed. "It's for you!" She had been worried about that. Still in her pajamas and pulling her hair up, Jade made her way downstairs to see where Damon had allowed Klaus and Rebekah into the house.

"Hi," Jade said when she saw them, then looked specifically to her dad. "Are you mad at me?"

"I know I've had that coming to me for awhile," Klaus said, seeming to forgive her. "I just wanted to stop by and give you these." There were two envelopes, one addressed to Vicki and one addressed to Matt; Damon had already opened the one addressed to him and her.

"What are they?" Jade asked, looking to Damon since he had already opened the other envelope.

"They're having a big fancy party tonight and we're all invited," Damon said, not seeming so thrilled.

"Oh," Jade said, not wanting to look put off but she still was.

"With everyone safe and reunited, I thought it would be nice if we had a celebration of our family," Klaus was saying.

"Uh huh," Damon said skeptically.

"Jade," Klaus insisted. "It's up to you love, I just would like to keep spending time with you, and show you I'm serious about being a part of your life."

"Then be there, don't-" Damon started to argue.

"Yeah, ok," Jade nodded and Damon looked at her in surprise. "We'll go."

"Yay," Rebekah smiled big, not wanting to guilt Jade into going but was super excited that she had decided to come. "All right, well go get changed, I'll meet you at the car."

"Now?" Jade questioned.

"Well, what are you going to wear tonight?" Rebekah asked; Jade opened her mouth to say something, but was silent. "That's what I thought," she teased. "It'll be fun!" she insisted. "We'll pick up your sister from work, it'll be great, shopping with your Auntie Beks," she smiled.

"Ok," Jade nodded. "Yeah. Just, um, let me go change."

"K," Rebekah grinned, heading outside to wait.

"She's been talking about this for days," Klaus told Jade now. "You just made her so happy."

"Happier than being related to you has ever made her, I'm sure," Damon commented sarcastically.

"I'll see you both tonight," Klaus said, ignoring the comment. He kissed Jade's cheek. "Goodbye Jade."

"Bye," Jade said, watching the door close before turning to go upstairs.

"What the hell was that?" Damon asked her, following her up the stairs to their bedroom.

"I don't know," Jade admitted, walking into their closet to change. She opted for something comfortable and easy to change out of, figuring Rebekah was someone that would make her try on a million dresses, not that she minded the family time.

"One second you're complaining that you hate him," Damon said. "Then the next, we're having dinner at his house. Then, you turn his angry siblings on him and say he deserves it. Now, we're going to another party they're having."

"You do realize I was there for all of that, don't you?" Jade asked sarcastically. "Look, Damon, I don't know what's going on with me." She paused. "What if you had a chance to fix things with your dad?"

"After he shot me?" Damon asked and she gave him a look.

"You and Stefan take each other back on a regular basis," Jade changed the subject now and Damon couldn't argue. "Not to mention, Klaus isn't the only person here that's disappeared on me." She, of course, was referring to the year that Damon had just took off and clearly broke things off with her, not resurfacing until she was back in Mystic Falls.

"I did that to keep you safe," Damon argued. "And, all hell broke loose when I came back if you remember any of that."

"I just remember it being worth it," Jade snapped, though clearly she didn't mean it rudely. "Just...give me a break on this, all right?"

Mason, accompanying his sister in law Carol that night, came to the party at Klaus's house. Carol had mentioned how the family was having it one to celebrate them all being together and two, to show that they wanted to have peace within the town so they could stay there. The party was still a lot bigger than he had imagined though; spotting Kelly, he excused himself from Carol, going over to talk to her.

"Mason, hi," she greeted him warmly. "How did you get roped into this?"

"Carol dragged me along," Mason said. Truthfully, he was still pretty against it even when she had asked, but Klaus called and asked that he come so he agreed. "What about you?"

"Well," Kelly sighed. "I got my kids into this," she said lightly. "And, if he's going to insist on being around Jade so much, I would like to get a feel for it myself."

"And?" Mason asked, though honestly he wasn't sure what kind of motherly instincts Kelly could claim right now.

"I think I picked her a good dad," Kelly said lightly, then became serious. "Jade and Vicki will be taken care of, Matt's not going to have to worry about paying for school. These are all good things, things that I want."

"Even if they come from a serial killer," Damon said, joining her and Mason.

"Where's Jade?" Kelly asked.

"Tracking down Vicki at this thing," Damon said. "Did Matt come?"

"He's over there with Caroline and Elena," Kelly nodded. "He's been trying to avoid all vampire business. But..."

"Hard to when that's what both your sisters are," Damon said and Kelly nodded. Damon noticed Mason smiling and when he followed his gaze, he saw that Jade was coming over with Vicki.

"Jade, hey," Mason greeted her first. "You look nice." Rebekah had dragged her from store to store, but Jade ended up picking out a very simple strapless and floor length black dress.

"Oh, thanks," Jade said, blushing a little. To be fair, she had the same reaction to Damon when he mentioned how she looked before they left the house. Damon started to say something, but Elijah was gathering the family on the stairs to give a toast.

"Jade!" Rebekah said, nodding for her to follow.

"Oh, I don't," Jade shook her head. "All those people looking at me, I couldn't..."

"Jade," Klaus came by now, smiling at her. "You are part of the family sweetheart."

"Um, ok," Jade said, following him now. Damon was completely lost and Kelly looked equally confused. Elijah started now, talking about having the family all together, and having their family's newest member there to join them.

"Have you noticed anything weird about her lately?" Damon murmured to Kelly.

"You know I have," Vicki chimed in, not sure what was going on with her sister.

"I think she's just excited to have her dad back," Kelly said as the toast was over and everyone was finding a partner to dance.

"Ready?" Damon said, at least trying to have fun at the party for Jade.

"Actually," Jade said. "With this dance, you switch partners in the middle. So, I just thought I would start with Mason then switch to you."

"You just thought," Damon echoed, casting a glance behind her to where Klaus was.

"Please don't make a big deal out of this," Jade practically begged, leading Mason towards where everyone was shuffling into the next room. Mason just shrugged at Damon, though Damon wanted nothing more in this moment to take the hybrid's head off. He noticed Klaus with Kelly, saying something about how it would be good for Jade that her parents got along, partnering up with her.

"Well," Damon sighed, turning to Vicki who was biting her lip. "What?" he asked now.

"I kinda already promised the cute one," Vicki grinned.

"The what?" Damon asked but then saw Kol coming over to get Vicki. "Naturally," Damon said; Rebekah was already off with Matt, not that she was his next option, Elena was obviously with Stefan.

"Looks like my date left me too," Carol was saying lightly and Damon put on the tightest smile in an attempt to be polite.

Damon couldn't keep his eyes off where Mason and Jade were dancing, where she was laughing. Kelly and Klaus occasionally passed through view and they seemed to be getting along; he knew that would be good for Jade, but he didn't understand what was going on. How could everyone be so ok with all of this? Suddenly, they switched partners, and Jade was back in his arms.

"Finally, right?" Jade said with a small laugh, reading his look. "What's with you?"

"Can we talk?" Damon asked and she nodded. "Alone."

"Ok," Jade said, not sure what was going on as she followed him outside as the others were still dancing. "What's going on with you?"

"With me?" Damon asked accusingly and Jade crossed her arms. "Have you paid any attention to what you've been doing the last few days?"

"Look, I get that it doesn't make sense to you," Jade argued. "But, I never had a normal family. I didn't have a dad growing up. I had Matt senior passing out drunk on the couch after he was done beating up on my mom."

"I get it Jade," Damon reasoned gently with her. "And it wasn't all sunshine at my house when I was a kid either, but-"

"I've been taking care of Matty and Vicki since I was ten years old," Jade stopped him. "And it feels so good to have a bigger support system for that. To not worry about Matt and school or Vicki adjusting, I-"

"You have me for that," Damon argued back. "Or do you have Mason for that now?"

"Are you kidding me?" Jade snapped at him. "Are we having this fight again?"

"And all of that was your dad's idea in there," Damon continued to argue.

"Oh ok, well at least we can have to two fights in one," Jade said sarcastically. "I'm out of here."

"Jade," Damon protested as she was going back inside.

"Just go home Damon!" Jade shouted back. By now they had gathered an audience, mostly of her family members. "My dad said I have a room here, I-" She was going to say she would be home tomorrow.

"Of course he did!" Damon shouted at her and she slammed the door as she went back inside. Damon turned to go, but was cut off by Klaus. "Thanks for an awesome party," he said sarcastically, trying to walk around him but Klaus stopped him again.

"I don't much appreciate you talking to my daughter like that," Klaus told him.

"Ok, I'll play," Damon said. "Well, I don't appreciate you manipulating her the way you have."

"I haven't done anything to her," Klaus said.

"I really don't know what you're up to," Damon started off. He knew that something wasn't right about his relationship with Jade, that something was off.

"I don't think that it's a secret that I don't like you Damon," Klaus countered.

"Well, the feeling is very mutual," Damon smiled fakely at him.

"Or that I would rather her end up with someone like Mason," Klaus continued. While Damon and Jade had gone outside the dance eventually wound down; Klaus found Mason and mentioned to him how much better he liked him over Damon and that he was rooting for him, with Mason not thinking much of it. "You'd do well to treat her right before she starts thinking the same way," he finished off before going back inside.

"Ah, ah, ah," Vicki said, swooping in and stealing the champagne glass that Jade had picked up.

"Don't lecture me right now, ok?" Jade begged, though she didn't pick up another glass.

"What is with you two?" Vicki asked of her and Damon.

"I don't know," Jade shook her head. "Look, I'm just going to stay here tonight while it all cools off. Can you tell Damon I'll be back tomorrow and that I'm sorry?"

"Yeah, absolutely," Vicki assured her. "Matt and mom already took off, I think I'm going to head out soon too."

"Have fun with my uncle?" Jade half laughed.

"Yeah, statements like that make it too weird," Vicki said, noticing Tyler by the door waving her over.

"Ah," Jade said when she noticed. "Old habits die hard I guess."

"He's been way less of a jerk since he triggered his curse," Vicki said and Jade knew it was true. "And even less since he turned into a hybrid." She hugged her sister. "I'll see you tomorrow, ok?"

"Yeah," Jade nodded, noticing her dad coming over, a lot of people still left at the party.

"Are you all right?" Klaus asked her in concern.

"Oh, fine," Jade brushed it off. "No big deal."

"Have you and Damon been fighting like that a lot?" Klaus asked.

"I really don't want to get into this," Jade said and Klaus nodded.

"Well, I'm more than happy that you're staying here," Klaus smiled at her and she gave a small one back. "Someone else seems happy you stayed at the party," he said, noting Mason.

"I really don't think we should get into that," Jade half laughed, brushing it off lightly.

"Just an opinion I have, as your father," Klaus smiled at her. "I just want what's best for you."

Damon didn't go straight home after the party, heading to the grille to drink instead. Finally, making his way home, he found Vicki, Tyler, and Stefan all waiting up for him. Sighing and wondering what kind of intervention they were pulling, he came into the living room where they were wall gathered.

"What?" Damon asked.

"I think I know what's going on with Jade," Vicki said after talking with both Tyler and Stefan about how her sister was behaving.

"What is it?" Damon asked seriously.

"Do you remember Charlotte?" Stefan asked his brother now. "That girl you turned in New Orleans in the forties?"

"Yeah," Damon said, not sure how it was related.

"You remember how she did everything you said after you turned her, no matter what it was," Stefan continued. "Because she wanted to make you happy, because she loved you." He motioned to the door to mean Jade. "Jade just wants her dad and wants him to accept her, so she's doing whatever he says without realizing it."

"That's what we thought initially though," Vicki interrupted. "But, Jade's not the only one that's been acting weird."

"What do you mean?" Damon asked.

"I noticed it with Mason before I turned," Tyler cut in now. "And now with me after, and some of the other wolves that have turned. No matter what Klaus says, we go with it. It's like, because he turned us and we don't have to turn on the full moon anymore, we are so grateful that-"

"You'll do whatever he asks," Damon finished for him and Tyler nodded. "Jade's sired to her dad."

"Question is, how do we break it?" Vicki said now.

"What did you do about Charlotte?" Stefan asked.

"I told her she didn't have to listen to me anymore," Damon explained. "That I was happy and that I wanted her to live for herself." He stopped. "We gotta get over there and tell Jade, so her dad can let her go."

"She will kill you if you show back up there tonight," Vicki reasoned. "Just wait till she comes back tomorrow, talk to her alone. We'll figure it out then."

"Hey," Mason knocked from Jade's bedroom door, with her already changing out of her dress. Her dad didn't just have a room ready for her, he had Rebekah fill it with clothes and anything she could ever need, hoping she would stay there. "I'm about to head out, just wanted to make sure you were ok."

"I guess," Jade sighed, shrugging now. "I don't know, everything is so messed up."

"You wanna talk about it?" Mason offered, coming in and closing the door.

"I don't know how to explain it," Jade said as he came to sit next to her. "I know what my dad did was wrong. I lived through parents running out on me my whole life. But, I just..." She struggled for the words. "I want it to work."

"I get that," Mason assured her. "Everyone wants things to be better with their family. You see a shot and you're taking it."

"Could you tell Damon that?" Jade asked. "Because he has been all over me about this since my dad came back."

"He's been pretty solitary for about a hundred years," Mason said. "I just think it's hard for him to understand."

"I'm glad someone else gets it," Jade said lightly. "Everyone else seems to think I'm crazy."

"You're not crazy," Mason insisted, touching her hair gently. Unable to help himself, he leaned forward to kiss her. He expected Jade to shove him away; he never expected her to actually kiss him back before pulling him down onto the bed with her.

Jade woke up the next morning, nearly forgetting the previous night's events. When she remembered what happened though and spotted Mason laying in bed next to her, she jumped and nearly fell out of bed. This woke Mason as she scrambled to grab her clothes, pulling them on quickly.

"What did we do?" Jade asked him.

"I don't think we were drunk," Mason said, as if how could she forget.

"Ok, I know, but why did we..." Jade felt like she couldn't breathe. "Mason, I have a boyfriend and..." She rubbed her forehead. "Oh my God, why did I do that?"

"Well, as much as every guy loves having this conversation the morning after," Mason said sarcastically.

"Mason, I didn't mean," she said gently. "But Damon..." She trailed off. "Oh my God, Damon. I have to-"

"I can come with you," Mason offered.

"No," Jade stopped him. "No, if you come it'll be an even bigger mess and..." She shook her head. "I have to talk to him myself."

Jade left the house immediately, not stopping to talk to her father, aunt or uncles before fleeing. On the way home her mind raced with what to tell Damon, but every scenario in her mind ended horribly. Arriving at the house, Damon, Vicki, Tyler, and Stefan were all waiting for her, and she felt much like Damon did about the intervention.

"Damon, can I talk to you alone?" Jade asked quickly. She just needed to get this over with.

"Me first," Damon stopped her. "Jade, what's been going on isn't your fault."

"What?" she asked in confusion.

"The way you've been acting around your dad, doing whatever he says," Damon explained. "You're sired to him."

"I'm what?" she asked, even more confused.

"Sired," Tyler explained. "It's what happens to wolves that are freed from their curse, we all feel 'grateful' to Klaus for turning us. Me, you, Mason."

"You're all going to do whatever your dad says," Vicki stated; her sister looked like she was going to be sick. "Look, I doubt your dad even knows he has this power, and Damon and Stefan know how to get you out of it." Jade still didn't look so great. "Jade-"

"I really need to talk to Damon right now," Jade told them. "Alone." The other three cleared the room.

"Are you ok?" Damon asked worriedly. "I'm really sorry about last night."

"Me too," Jade said. "But-"

"It's all out of your control right now," Damon stopped her, touching her face gently. "It's all right."

"Is it?" Jade said, feeling sicker than ever.

"Jade, what's wrong?" Damon asked.

"I slept with Mason last night," Jade blurted out.

"Oh my God!" they heard Vicki shrieking upstairs, obviously listening; Tyler immediately shushed her. Damon was silent.

"I didn't," Jade wasn't sure what to say. "I had no idea what I was doing. And I'm so sorry. But this sire thing, I..." Damon walked by her to head out of the house. "Damon," she tried to stop him, but he kept going. She heard someone outside now and she figured that's what he was going for. "Damon, what are you doing?" She followed him to the door, seeing Mason coming up towards the house, still thinking Jade shouldn't do this alone; by the look on Damon's face though, he knew she did.

"Damon!" Jade called after him and he immediately punched Mason in the face hard enough for the hybrid to fall over. Mason didn't fight back, getting up and wiping the blood from his lip.

"All right," Mason nodded. "Yeah, I deserved that."

"You think?!" Damon snapped, though Stefan and Tyler were there to break up the fight.

"It wasn't her fault!" Mason shouted at him as Jade and Vicki were hurrying over. "You wanna hit me again? Fine, go ahead if that helps you. But it wasn't her fault, and with the way I've been feeling lately, it wasn't mine either."

"I'm sure you hated every second of it right?" Damon asked sarcastically.

"I'm not gonna lie to you and say I didn't want it," Mason informed him. Stefan had to push his brother back from punching Mason again. "But I wouldn't go after a girl that was already with someone. He's in my head too, just like he's in hers."

"Damon, don't," Jade said, knowing where he was going to take off to next.

Finn had already gone from the mansion, taking off to reunite with his love Sage. Kol wasn't gone from Mystic Falls but he was up to his usual antics, leaving the other three originals alone. They heard the others approaching the house, mainly Damon and Jade, before they even arrived at the door, prompting them to go outside.

"Damon, stop!" Jade cut him off, pushing him back before he could take a swing at her father.

"What's going on?" Klaus asked.

"Like you don't know," Damon accused.

"If it has to do with our other house guest last night," Klaus said to get under Damon's skin.

"It has to do with it being your fault!" Damon shouted at him, lunging for him now, but Jade broke it up again with the help of Elijah.

"What the hell is he talking about?" Klaus asked now.

"I'm sired to you," Jade told him and Klaus was stunned. He honestly hadn't known about this side effect of turning hybrids. "Me and the other wolves do whatever you say because you kept us from having to turn again."

"Including sleep with each other," Damon snapped.

"Damon," Elijah said seriously, seeing Jade's embarrassment.

"You wanna step up?" Damon asked Klaus now. "You wanna be a dad? Then let her go from her sire bond. Tell her that she doesn't have to listen to you anymore and she can be her own person."

"Jade," Klaus said, reaching for her but she jerked away. "Sweetheart, I am sorry. If I knew-"

"Yeah right," Damon said sarcastically.

"Jade, you don't have to listen to me anymore," Klaus said, ignoring Damon. "You do what makes you happy, and you alone. If you'll tell Mason and Tyler to stop by, I'd like to tell them the same."

"Thanks," Jade said, still mortified by the morning's events. And even though he let her go, she still was going to need time alone to sort out what her relationship with him was actually going to be, first and foremost fixing what was wrong with her and Damon.
