Kisaragi was in the police car and quickly drove towards the Buddy Police Force base. He already had called for Gao and the boy said that he would help as soon as he was dressed.
"I hope you'll be here in time kid," he said.
The man and reinforcements reached their destination and saw two monsters fighting at the top of the building. He looked around and saw many civilians' gatherings as they observed the fight, both frightened and curious. He wanted to go inside and deal with it, but with the monsters fighting and the civilians putting themselves at risk, his mission was there.
"Everyone!" he looked at his troops, "We have to evacuate the civilians right now, before they could be hurt. Make sure that everyone leaves as far as you can!"
"Yes sir!" the replied.
The police force gathered and started to make the people back away from the fight, while others moved their car to block the street, once any drivers went far away, so that no one would get hurt, or so they hoped.
The commissioner saw this, and his thought lightly changed, "You have to hurry up Gao. I'm not sure if the city gets destroyed soon."
Chapter 137: Shido Birthday Part 3
Gallows claws were ready to cut through the metal of the monster from Hero World as he slashed without hesitation. His claw didn't pierce the armor and simply bounced on it as Card Burn took his distance, taking away the momentum built by the Darkness Dragon. The battle was intense between the two as the assault never ceased between them. None of the monsters was backing down.
Gallows giggled with pleasure, even if he wasn't taking the advantage of the battle right now, his desire to fight was satisfied. Card Burn was getting irritated by his incapacity to pass the defense of the darkness dragon once again.
Meanwhile, Magaroku and Takihara were looking at each other's, spellcard ready to support their buddy, but also making sure that no one else was making a move.
His father tried to talk to him, but Seiichi was preventing the man to calm his son down, as it was his only chance to escape. Seiichi believed that he had to the boy had to hold on until the chance to escape was coming, but it didn't seem to be the case right now. The intense fight was distracting, but Commander I had his eyes on him and never left him out of his sight for more than a mere second.
Gallows took some distance and threw a dark blast at Card Burn who avoided it and countered with his right hand turning into a cannon and firing a blast, but a shield conjured by Shido protected the dark monster.
The darkness dragon too his chance and charged inside the spoke and caused a deep wound on the chest of the mechanical monster, making him lose some oil. Card Burn saw another strike coming, but his buddy yelled, "Buddy Of Steel!"
His body solidified, and the strike failed to hit him, he also had the momentum and his reflex were superior to normal right now. He countered with a blow on the face of the darkness dragon and followed up by blasting the chest of Gallows with his hand cannon.
Gallows painfully grumbled as he tried to recover and attacked once again, he missed the target and barely avoided the counter attack.
He's good, the monster from Darkness Dragon World thought.
His buddy watched the fight and grew more nervous. It seemed that Gallows might not claim victory and that meant that he would lose his father. Magaroku lightly sweated as he prepared his next spellcard, saving his energy for the right moment, just like Takihara.
None of them knew what the other had for their next spell. Was it an offensive one or a defensive one like last time? That was the question in their mind.
None of them just used every spellcards, knowing that it would quickly exhaust them. So, they waited for the perfect time to summon their power once again.
The two monsters took their distance and observed each other's thinking of their next move. They both knew that they could lose if they weren't careful. They were resilient, but their body had its limit and they didn't want to go beyond.
There was another thing Gallows was thinking about, how long before his adversary got help. Compared to him, he didn't expect anyone to come to his help. He knew he had to end this fight sooner rather than later and charged, calling darkness on his claws and slashing from a distance. The mark of the darkness claws went towards the hero monster, but Card Burn blocked it and took damage.
The Darkness Dragon quickly realised why he blocked it and took some damage instead of avoiding it, the city might have been damaged by his attack. He grinned, thinking to use it to his advantage, but had to scratch that, knowing what his mission was. If Card Burn failed to block it, he would hurt or kill humans' civilians, which would cost his life. Azi Dahaka would have his head for his diner if he disobeyed, why do I have to give up in any advantage in this fight?
Card Burn fired lasers at his adversary but missed the target who flew below and countered with the same attack, but the machine monster avoided it this time. He was about to counter with his weaponry but couldn't as the land had civilians and a hero would never do that.
Gallows giggled ass he found a way to turn his inconvenience into an advantage. It was to simply let the other monster believe that he could hurt anyone if he was in the way. If he dodged it, it would turn the hero monster into a fallen hero, ruining everything that makes him a habitant of Hero World.
The Darkness Dragon clapped his hands together and created a dark ball in his hands, ready to throw it at the machine monster, "Let's see if you can dodge this!" I never shown everything I could do!
He threw the ball and it flew towards the Hero monster, who avoided it. Gallows grinned as he tapped his hands and the ball exploded into fragments, which were all targeting the mechanical hero.
Card Burn avoided most of them, but a few hit him and damaged his protective plates and made him a vulnerable at the chest. The attack he received created a weak spot for the other monster to exploit.
"Card Burn!" Takihara yelled as he let go of Magaroku for a second. He quickly turned back at the boy who casted his spell.
"Black Chaos Claws!" the boy yelled.
A claws of darkness appeached and targeted Card Burn.
Takihada quickly changed his spellcard and managed to draw another one and yelled, "I've Seen Through Your Move!"
The Hero quickly avoided at abnormal reflexes thanks to the spell and countered with a kick at the darkness dragon, who was taken aback by the quick dodge and got it right on the groin.
"Damn you!" he furiously grunted as he channeled another dark ball in his hand. He saw the hero coming at him and threw it before it was ready, causing no damaged to Card Burn, but slowed the momentum long enough for Gallows to slash the face and damaged the left eye of the machine before adding another slash on the chest and causing some sparkles to come out of the machine chest.
Card Burn detected that he was taking massive damage from his enemy and it would worsen if he couldn't do something about it. He thought about it and knew he had to play it riskier if he wanted to arrest the criminals.
He deactivated his inhibitors and went full power, even if he used more energy than what he could replenish, "I won't hold back anymore Gallows," the machine hero said before activating his thrusters and flying towards the Darkness Dragon.
Gallows was ready to block the attack, but his adversary was already by his side and hit the side of his chest felt his thoracic cage bend under the strength and cut the air out of his lungs. He coughed loudly and barely avoided the next attack, but never saw the third one he got right in the sternum. It didn't make him feel good and saw the next one coming before he could even recover, a shield appeared and blocked the impact, which he took the time to take some distance. He took the Hero monster seriously now and saw his defeat coming.
Card Burn felt his energy quickly dropping and pointed his blaster at the other monster and fired, before charging again.
Gallows avoided the laser coming at him and barely managed to block to his skull. He countered by grabbing the neck of his enemy with his tail, covering the optics as he aimed for the weak point on the chestplate. He didn't reach it when his wrist was trapped in the hands of Card Burn and felt the pressure on it, believing that his wrist could break at any second. The two spun in the air as the both struggled to either break the arm or escape the grasp. They were both losing altitude as they both struggling, but they were too focused on their fight to notice where they were in the air.
Gallows reached his claws and pierced the hand of his enemy and released his dark energy directly inside, allowing him to escape and do some internal damage. Once he was free, he took some altitude, noticing that they were close to the road below them.
Card Burn felt the pain but ignored it as he had to end the fight now. He charged and stroke many times, but Gallows was on the defensive and focused on blocking and avoiding the incoming attacks. The hero felt his energy dropping and it would soon be too low to keep fighting. He used his final energy to his last resolve and pointed the cannon at close range, firing without hesitation. The blast hit the Darkness Dragon right on the chest and sent him away.
Gallows screamed in agony as he felt his bones burning and cracking by the impact of the blast. He was sent backward. His purple eyes gazed at where he was going to crash on and realised, it was the Buddy Police Force station. He collided against it and caused damaged on it. He was too close to the roof and the building shook by the impact.
Magaroku and Takihara were on the corner of the roof when they saw the Darkness Dragon coming at them. They didn't have time to escape as they felt the impact. The humans lost their balance and heard the ground cracking by the impact.
Takihara managed to avoid falling from the roof and jumped where it was safer. He gazed back and saw that Magaroku didn't move to safety in time and felt off the building.
"No!" his father yelled as he tried to grab his son but was too far and could never reach him in time.
"Dad!" the boy yelled as he felt down.
Gallows eyes were spinning as he tried to think once more. The impact made him confused and his awareness dropped to zero.
"Card Burn! Catch Shido!" Takihara ordered as he gave all his attention to the situation.
Card Brum saw the boy and went towards him, but his energy was low, and his movement slowed down way too much to save him in time, "Energy too low," the hero said as he panicked. He was a monster from Hero World, failing to his task was something he wouldn't accept to do. He tried to call more of it, but his fight was too taxing and couldn't pull a miracle.
As it was occurring, Seiichi saw his chance to escape and left the roof as everyone were too busy with the boy falling to his doom rather than arresting the criminal. When he was about to enter back inside. He was grabbed by the collar by Commander I, "Where do you think you are doing?" the man was angry as he put the man on the ground, "Aren't you supposed to be a cop?"
Seiichi didn't reply and was handcuffed.
Meanwhile, Magaroku Shido saw that he was about to hit the road and could already see every moment of his life. He saw the good and the bad and he closed his eyes, thinking that it was over. Eyes closed, he flinched when he stopped feeling the wind on his face and his body shook. For many seconds, nothing happened, and the boy wasn't reacting at all. Eventually, the boy was confused and wondered what was going on, why am I not in pain? Did I die?
With that question repeating in his mind, he called the little courage he had and opened his eyes. He looked around, wondered what was going on when he saw the street getting farther from him, "W-What's going on?"
"Don't worry child. Captain Answer is here!" a voice told him.
Magaroku looked at the one who spoke to him and realised that Captain Answer saved his life. He was in the arms of one of his heroes. Despite this, he suddenly felt the tension leaving his body and exhaustion coming to him, before quickly coming back when he remembered what would happen to his father. He looked up and couldn't see anything, he was too far to see what was going on the roof of the Buddy Police Force Headquarters.
Captain Answer flew back on the roof and the boy could see his father arrested and crying, probably mourning his son.
"Dad!"
Seiroku looked at his son and relief were now over his face, "You're alive!" he could only express his joy to see his son alive and well, but saw his son sadly looking at him. It was over after all. He was arrested, when his son tried to save him and failed.
On the side, Gallows was back into his SD form and looked at the result, saying nothing at all as he tended his wounds, under the watch of Card Burn. Not too soon after, Gao and Drum arrived at the scene.
"Looks like we are here a little too late," the red dragon commented.
The only thing that remained was the result of the arrest and what would come after wards.
